Unpopular opinion thread

What's yours, Cred Forums?

Video Games are not art.

Film, Music, and Video Games are not art.

TFA sucked and is worse than the prequels.

Architecture, Sculpting, Woodcraft, Film, Music & Video games are not art.

Fury Road was boring

Star Wars is a boring series of movies made for children.

Everything Martin Scorcese made after Casino is trash.

The Lobster is the best movie of 2016 (US release date was in January).

The Godfather was only a slightly above average movie and was nowhere near as good as the book which is top 5 "day at the beach" style paperbacks.

The Harder they Come is one of the top 50 foreign films ever made.

I love Mr. Robot, I liked this last episode and I'm really hyped about what's going to happen in the next one and in the future seasons.

Also I cried like a bitch during the tapes scene in Interstellar, and I think that if your eyes didn't get wet in the slightest while watching it, you're either dead inside or lying through your teeth.

Come at me.

You should play Planescape: Torment then, mate.

I am tired of capeshit.

>there are people that believe this

in my opinion 2+2=7

>Superhero films aren't good
>The Blair Witch Project sucked; The Last Broadcast did it first
>As Good as It Gets was a 6/10 film at best
>Life is worth living

Jurassic park is a shit movie, revolutionary effects aside, what else does it have to offer

The Neon Demon was bad. The visuals and sound were great but everything else sucked.
Se7en is overrated and the characters are retarded
Midnight in Paris is a terrible film

The following are actual fucking garbage and not "underrated":

Equilibrium
In the Mouth of Madness
Event Horizon
Resident Evil

That's true... from a certain point of view.

Cтap Bapc нe кинo

I agree with these.

Also
>The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is the second-best Spider-Man film.
>Rocky was unwatchable and I had to turn it off.
>Rob Reiner is one of the greatest filmmakers of all time.
>1978's Superman is still the best superhero film we've ever had.
>Inception is Nolan's best movie.

Oldboy wasn't that great. It was different for faggots who only watched summer blockbusters but it was disappointing to re-watch it after so many years.

Blair Witch Project is another horror film where stupid people do stupid shit and thankfully die a painful death.

The Avengers films were abysmal.

Inland Empire sucks and his best film was Lost Highway.

Arrested Development is unfunny and only relies on references to running jokes.

Psycho is okay and Birds is a terrible movie
new TMNT was pretty good

The batman trilogy by nolan is complete and utter trash with not a single positive quality

>Inception is Nolan's best movie.

that's not really an unpopular opinion, even capeshitters say that

I like movies

"Steve Jobs" was a masterpiece.

All modern television shows are trash, in spite of people acting like it is the golden age of tv.

We said unpopular

>The knick
>trash

you fucking pleb

>>The Blair Witch Project sucked

Not my words but: Blair Witch Project gets every single thing right. It comes down to whether you see those things as a strength or a weakness.

i actually dont really like the movie but 100% agree with this

...

Batman Returns is the best Batman movie and top 5 capeshit, it's deeper and more mature than the "gritty" Nolan movies while still being goofy and campy

>"Steve Jobs" was a masterpiece of just how polished and glossy a bullshit story can be produced.

FTFY

Heath ledgers joker wasn't very good

90% of French New Wave is terrible

Everything i dont like is made for children

Andrei Tarkovsky are fucking stupid, unoriginal, slow and incredibly shit.

He was never original at all, he stole all his cinematography from the japanese, he was a fucking weeaboo!

Pic related is quite possibly the most overrated film series in the history of cinema

Askenazhi Jews are genetically superior in their intellectual capacities and that's why they are overrepresented not only in spheres of power but also in the hardest majors like Physics or Mathematics.

I also think all the antisemitism comes from anti-intellectualism and that the book of Genesis is a tale about Jews being punished for offending G-d by being thrown with the dumb goyims

I think movies are pretty enjoyable.

every single superhero movie ever made is complete shit

reddit is better for film discussion than Cred Forums

>he watches movies for enjoyment

Cred Forums was never meant for simple discussion. Obviously you just don't seem to grasp the concept.

thats actually just the truth

Fantastic Four (2015) wasn't actually as bad as people made it out to be, and it was only assblasted because of critics expecting some Marvel quip fest and the hamfisted diversity.

Then go there

Memento desu

Lord of the rings is nothing but overly sentimental garbage, most overrated movies of all time

I didn't like all the shit with Ned Ryerson. Bit of a pointless element.

1994-2009 was the golden age of the modern day blockbuster

nolan has never made a good movie

Batman v Superman is not only great but also the best film of 2016

The Matrix sequels are excellent movies and have some of the best action scenes ever filmed.

Kek

the board needs more Glau

2 girls 1 cup

Neon Demon is more than meets the eye.

...

Lol no it wasn't you tard, did you even finish the movie? It explains to us the very important idea that Lenny can learn through conditioning, as well as potentially being Lenny's own conditioning and imagination covering up the true nature of his relationship to his wife and therefore his only reason to keep living. You're dumb. Inception was good though it can be #2

I would hope so, Cred Forums is mostly for shitposting

Anomalisa was fucking terrible

The Big Lebowski is overrated

I like Rick and morty.

Breaking bad is a top 10 show of all time

And that's the reason Cred Forums is so autistic about reddit in general, if you took the whole "upvotes" thing out of it Cred Forums would still be assblasted about reddit because it isn't a shithole of meme cancer.

I like thing X which is related to, but not the same as, thing Y you enjoy.

Momento

Cred Forums is probably the worst board on Cred Forums, second only to Cred Forums

It also used to be among the best , about 2-3 years ago.

t. lilywrist prostate-squirter

Okay, calm down chief.

Perhaps you can explain it to me, then. Was Leonard Sammy or not? Ted said he was, but the wives died in different ways.
Sammy and Leonard also got their amnesia in different ways. The big reveal of "no, you ARE Sammy" didn't make sense to me because those loose ends weren't tied up. It just seemed like a pointless twist thrown in at the end that wasn't thought through very well and made little sense, being an unnecessary revelation.

Can you shed some light on where I've gone wrong?

...

>Cred Forums is probably the worst board on Cred Forums, second only to Cred Forums
Not an unpopular opinion but see pic related

>It also used to be among the best , about 2-3 years ago.
An unpopular opinion (you're wrong)

>Come at me.

No, I don't really care.

R/truefilm>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>r/movies and Cred Forums

...

The one's you responded to were fine, but the shit you added on is just tasteless.

>The worst boards=the ones that trigger my touchy numale sensibilities

Okay then

no, the ones that are full of edgy faggots shitposting and rampaging autists memeing themselves to death.

Fantastic Mr Fox is Wes Anderson's best film.

Kramer is by far the worst part of Seinfeld and the show would be better off without him.

He is is very annoying and completely unfunny.
His whole character is basically "HURR I YELL A LOT AND I AM CLUMSY DURR I JUST FELL DOWN HOW FUNNY IS THAT"

It's like the laziest and cheapest way to write comedy. I honestly don't understand why he is a beloved character, he is no better than Bazinga Man.

Oh, sorry, you mean the ones that trigger your tiny-dick inferiority complex because they require actual content to get noticed instead of le catchy titles and "rly maeks u think"-tier """"discussion""""

>everything Scorsese made acter Casino is trash

What is Bringing Out the Dead

Well Im triggered

see, no you're immediately going with your idiotic indoctrinated beliefs. All of this "trigger" stuff is fucking bollocks, Cred Forums is a shithole of cancer and aids. Saying so says nothing about the size of my dick, although you trying to use that as an argument does say something about the size of your brain.

tl;dr
shut up faggot.

Kill yourself TFA > Episode VI

Yes, because your own use of buzzwords and truncated arguments is so enlightening

Your a pleb.

Reddit is either IMDb plebs of super pretentious Jodo fans.

>what else does it have to offer
Likeable characters, a solid story, a memorable score, infinitely quotable, well directed, well acted.

Film, music, and video are not art. The others are.

CGI effects always will look unreal and unappealing compared to even the worst practical effects.

when in Rome...

t. triggered like a bouncing betty

The first Evil Dead is great and the only good thing about Evil Dead 2 is that it leads into Army of Darkness. Evil Dead 2 is awful. It was unnecessary and just piled on Three Stooges nonsense to the first. Bruce Campbell is a hack as well. Outside of those movies he stinks.

>Inception is Nolan's best

Not unpopular at all, it's the sexond highets rated on IMDb.

...Lube yourself up with olive oil and wrestle nude with your boy-slave? Seems right up your alley, welcome home

And this is why we can't have nice things.

I don't know if it's unpopular but it's definitly a patrician's opinion

both of these are wrong
you have shit taste user

This is actually true and anyone who isn't a fucking retard would agree.

There's nothing gay about wrestling nude. It's the anal sex that makes it gay.

I guess you haven't seen any horror film made between 1970 and 1989 then

Oh, you mean the golden years of practical effects? Moron.

...

don't be
just accept the truth

It's supposed to be ambiguous, as in Teddy could be lying. But if Teddy is telling the truth, then Leonard took the memory of Sammy from his past and kept telling himself a story which combines elements of his own life and Sammy so he would have a reason to live. Since he can condition himself, his mind is trained to recite the same words over and over once he gets talking about Sammy. The story he is telling himself becomes more real than his memories, which are essentially stories we tell ourselves anyway. The ending calls Leonard's core beliefs about himself into question. Sammy could very well have been made up, and Leonard could have been being fooled by Teddy and himself for the entirety of the time since his wife died

American Beauty is an excellent film and the only reason to dislike it is because you're 13.

>Kubrick's only 2 great films are Spartacus and Paths of Glory
>Terrence Malick is literally garbage except Badlands
>John Carpenter is the greatest American filmmaker of all time, even though Halloween is not that great
>Alien 3 > Aliens
>Apocalypto is the best film of this century
>Fury Road is a Cecil deMille epic more than a regular Mad Max film
>Nick Cave is the best score composer alive
>Paul W.S. Anderson, despite his track record, is a good director
>Korean cinema has been the best thing to happen to film in the past 20 years
>Wong Kar Wai and werner Herzog are the best working directors today
>Sam Rockwell is a literally 10/10 actor
>Sigourney Weaver is the most charismatic presence in film history
>I'd rather watch what the Japanese, Korean or Spanish Academies give awards to than Oscar films

> The Lobster is the best movie of 2016 (US release date was in January).

Not really

> Also I cried like a bitch during the tapes scene in Interstellar, and I think that if your eyes didn't get wet in the slightest while watching it, you're either dead inside or lying through your teeth.

True

>1978's Superman is still the best superhero film we've ever had.
>Inception is Nolan's best movie.

KYS gravely

> Oldboy wasn't that great. It was different for faggots who only watched summer blockbusters but it was disappointing to re-watch it after so many years.

> Arrested Development is unfunny and only relies on references to running jokes.

KYS

> The Avengers films were abysmal.

it's pretty normal opinion unless you are a litteral pleb

"""""golden years"""""

airtight logic you got there. most grindhouse era films had terrible practical effects. Only a few had truly great ones which is why they're the most known.

Hardcore Henry is great and one of my favorite action films

Well, what you call ambiguity I call confused writing.

Especially in terms of the death of Leonard's wife - what, she survived the beating but Teddy was still assigned to her murder case and helped Leonard find the original John G.?
The whole Sammy concept should've been cut in an earlier draft. I feel like Nolan only kept it in because it was such an important concept in his brother's story.

Having a whole bunch of conflicting facts and then explaining them all away, badly, in around 45 seconds simply isn't very good writing.

It's not ambiguous; it's a jumble of nonsense.

Ahahahahah

Reddit is only great if you want to discuss, hum hum, meme about the new marvel movie

Horror movie directors are all a meme, and almost all of the great horror novies were made by non-horror directors.
>Exorcist
>Rosemary's Baby
>Peeping Tom
>Vampyr
>Santa Sangre
>The Shining
>Nosferatu
>A Page of Madness
>Wake in Fright
Even stuff I don't personally care about like Jaws.

I thought it was the best modern action movie I've seen since The Raid 1&2 came out.

literally all you faggots do is discuss memes about capeshit.

Spielberg's best film is Duel

I'm of two minds on that. The choreography and technical work is great but the story and characters are beyond retarded. It's literally out of a bad 90s videogame. It made me feel dumber after watching it.

I know why you redditor wouldn't like Cred Forums but

Cred Forums and Cred Forums are infested with redditor

I've never set a food inside R9K but since it is full of autistic edge lord it should suit you well

That's true, but all Star Wars is pretty bad.

>It's literally out of a bad 90s videogame
I think that was exactly what the filmmakers intended. The story is dumb, but I think the action makes up for it.

>This whole post
hello Cred Forums

Considering that the theme of the movie is how memories can be distorted and how the actions we take are heavily influenced by the stories we tell ourselves, I would say that the ambiguity is definitely purposeful.

This is film noir, where the protagonist is usually tricked or strung along despite his best efforts to uncover the truth. In this movie we can never get to the truth, because we are watching from Leonard's perspective.

Remember that Teddy could be lying to save his own ass. He knows the Sammy story inside and out. He could have been the cop assigned to Leonard's wife's murder. Or maybe he was just the cop assigned to investigate her rape and Leonard's assault. It's not difficult to see a reason for Teddys association with Leonard. If Leonard did actually kill his wife, Teddy could have still helped him find the guy who fucked up his life and get revenge.

If you don't like this type of movie that's fine, but the way the movie is constructed is perfectly logical considering the themes and the effect it's trying to achieve on the viewer

this isn't just for Cred Forums, but for all of Cred Forums currently

capitalism is more degenerate then communism

the more i look into it, the more i find that the majority of communists were antisemetic (unlike what Cred Forums makes people think)

and that capitalism leads to BLACKED or bringing black people to america because it was cheaper then hiring white guys to pick cotton.

i also thing trump is a jewish plant. i mean, reddit loves him. is that not enough to make him questionable? it is for me.

Isn't this consensus? Atleast on Cred Forums

Star Wars is for children, yes.

Shutter Island was decent, and The Departed and Bringing out the dead were good.

The Lobster is very good, yes, but I haven't seen enough this year to really say.

The Godfather is a very good movia, far above average, but it's not the perfect masterpiece it's made up to be.

I have not sern The harder they come.

Fifty years ago we'd have you upside-down with a fucking fork up your ass!
You're a nigger! You're a nigger! You're a nigger! A nigger, look, there's a nigger! Oooo! Ooo... All right, ya see? It shocks you, it shocks you, to see what's buried beneath, you stupid mother fuckers!

They're going to arrest me for calling a black man a nigger? I'm not a racist, that's what's so insane about this!

Ironically enough a lot of Jews push communism.

lol no

unless you count contrarian redditors trying to be edgy

That movie is putrid garbage, and evoked no emotional response in me.

Disney/Marvel is ruining the movie business, and everyone who pays money for the privilege of slurping up that liquified himey stool should be fined 10% of their yearly income to be given to a new generation of auteurs to make whatever the fuck they want without restriction as long as it isn't a goddamn superhero movie.

you forgot to mention DINOSAURS

To my young self that was a massive selling point

like i said, that's what Cred Forums seems to push

but when i looked into it, i found that jews are just opportunistic and jump onto anything that can get them into power

>what else does it have to offer
Dinosaurs. Dinosaurs are kickass.

No, I DO like it. I just can't call it Nolan's best when it's not as clean and polished as some of his later work, that's all.

I see that it's intentional, and that it's been constructed in a certain way intentionally. I just find it difficult to appreciate a big mess of confusion that could easily have been cut without sacrificing any of the film's integrity.

capitalism included

and Cred Forums is only good if you want to make a futile effort at discussing the new marvel movie only to have your thread derailed with black dicks and cunny

Jodorowsky is a horrible hack fraud

Everyone knows that.

I totally agree vis a vis interstellar.

I also thought it was a great movie in general, though.

--

I've always thought Jay was the best of the three.

---

2001: a space odyssey was boring

---

My view of movies made pre 90s are always tainted because of sexism.

--

I think there's way too much sex in visual entertainment these days, and that it's low to appeal to our base urges to try make us like it.

Why are Cred Forumstards so sensitive?

Not him, I wanted to get that game though.

>he doesn't wanna fugg his slave's boipucci

What a faggot

>Kubrick's only 2 great films are Spartacus and Paths of Glory
Now this is bullshit right here. Paths of Glory is his third best, and Spartacus is his second worst. That movie is so lazy and suffers from a complete lack of subtelty. It's one of his only two bad films.
>Terrence Malick is literally garbage except Badlands
No.
>Alien 3 > Aliens
Everyone knows this.
>Korean cinema has been the best thing to happen to film in the past 20 years
No, it's mostly tiresome and without any wish to progress.
Everything else you said is highly debateable, but acceptable.
You're very correct concerning Sam Rockwell.

Because beachwhale tumblrinas are and they unironically mirror them.

>>Fury Road is a Cecil deMille epic more than a regular Mad Max film
So I'm not the only one.

REEEEEEEEEE TAKE THIS DOWN

see

Well I think it's gotta be in there. But idk. Go back and watch it again someday, the second viewing is still really rewarding even when you know ultimately where it's all heading.

I agree there's definitely more polish to his later films, but there's a special kind of magic he caught with the depth and complexity of this one that's not quite there in inception. Although it's been awhile since I've seen inception and I just saw memento again last week so maybe I'm biased

Nigga, gook films got me through a terrible time in my life so I guess it's personal.

>everyone knows this
Other than this board I doubt it. People love Aliens for some reason.

Noticed it when I rewatched some Chuck Heston films a couple of months ago. It's got everything, the scale, the larger than life characters, the sweeping epic feel. Demille would love Fury Road for the spectacle alone.

American cinema is garbage these days. Danish, Korean, and French >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Then why come to Cred Forums?

Planescape reads like it was written by a 12 year old.

>"alternative" subreddits to shit default ones
>not full of 15 year-olds trying to be profound for karma

Pick one. See also truegaming

"Overrated" is not valid criticism, and essentially means you either don't like something that's popular and can't explain why, or you're trying to be contrarian.

>style over substance
>pretentious
>bad pacing
>being edgy
>boring
These are all invalid criticisms of movie, none of these hold any weight whatsoever

Archer sucks.
In the last 10 years there has been less than 5 good capeshit films and people that still go see these films are shit eating cocksuckers.
Deadwood and Rome would have been goats if they had another season or two to end it.
House of Cards was never good

You have to go back

i agree. after a while you just become desensitized to all the action. kind of over stimulating and exhausting to watch. i saw it in theatres when it came out and i probably wont ever watch it again.

It's ok to tear up but full on "crying like a bitch" is so pussy. If you're a girl it's fine though m'lady

or just play any videogame that isn't super-abstract

art does not mean "good". bad art is still art

I tried to make a post but my brain shortcircuited because "popular opinion" is like the opposite on Cred Forums because people only bait/are contrarian faggots here.

You can count all the good Shakespeare adaptations on film on one hand (and I say this as a complete Shakespeare fanatic).

Horror is the most cinematic idiom, and if you don't like horror movies, it's hard to believe that you actually care about cinema; much more likely, you're just too lazy to read a book.

If you "have to see it on the big screen," it's not actually a good movie.

>In the last 10 years there has been less than 5 good capeshit films
In the last 10 years there has been less than 1 good capeshit film
>House of Cards was never good
The first two seasons were pretty good.

"Diversity" is ruining film and TV in the West.

Wow, that's a really unpopular oppinion you got there.

This is REALLY going to ruffle some feathers on Cred Forums.org, holy shit. Next you'll be posting racist opinions on Cred Forums, you absolute madman!

I was fine with the word/kind of criticism overrated when I first heard it, because from a very young age it was only natural to me seeing people get overexcited about something, a joke, a song, a movie etc and understanding it wasn't such a masterpiece, I should balance things out myself by not giving it any attention
Born an autist always an autist. But yeah I get what you mean.

accurate

this patrician meme should die already

agree w/ all this.

I can see why it might be used when talking about something new, seeing as people tend to be more excitable whenever anything new comes out and may give it more credit for that reason.
It pisses me off when people use it to describe things that are established as being well received. It's ok for people to have their own opinion, but to me calling something overrated comes across as arrogant, declaring your opinion to be the only correct one, and everyone else is wrong, often without justifying their opinion.
