It's kind of a shame that they already had seiyuu who were plenty capable of singing, but I can also kind of understand wanting to give newer idols some work. The only one I ended up not really liking was Seira's though, and that's mainly because of the disparity between her singer's super deep voice and Kaori Ishihara's relatively high pitched voice, everyone else sounded fine.

What I'm wondering though, is if they wanted to promote a new idol unit for the show, why not just make one out of Sumire, Ayaka, and Azusa? I don't believe any of them were particularly well known seiyuu prior to Aikatsu. I guess even if the others weren't necessarily as bad as Seira, the disparity still bothered me.

Sumire was only 13 when the show started. I'm not familiar at all with idol culture outside of anime, is it common at all for them to start that young? That's the only reason I can see why she wouldn't be able to do it, Azusa and Hasshi were old enough.

Was gonna follow up with asking how often girls that age take on both long-running voice acting work and singing work, but then stuff like popped into my head. So promoting other idols likely was the main reason they didn't use the seiyuu as singers.

The reason they don't make the VAs sing is so banrise and Lantis can have control over the music production and live performances at a lowered cost and higher availability.
VAs have schedules to keep and get hired by other companies for other projects, so they're not always available and often come in varying price brackets.
By having smaller time idols under their control, they can freely use the songs and character singing voices without having to call back the original VAs.
From a business standpoint, it's pretty smart because it preserves longevity of the songs as products.
You'll still be hearing them perform vanilla aikatsu songs live well into Stars, which is something most other idol anime won't be able to do after their runs end.
I personally don't like they way they do it, I'd rather them have one idol per character rather than getting one idol to do 2-4 voices.
I think I prefer what Tomy and Avex did with iRis, just grabbing an already established small time idol group and dedicating/integrating them into a large project, they're so practiced with their repertoire now that their live PP performances shit all over other idols and VAs when they do anisong festivals like animelo.
It's kind of a shame considering how they cast the best singer in Sphere as Mizuki and yet didn't have her sing.

When Stars started, I was kind of hoping the main characters would actually be voiced by the already established Aikatsu singers, although I am glad to still have the OG main three's voices in the show.
It's amusing to look back at Full Moon, with how Mitsuki was considered to be too young to audition, and how she wanted to be an artist who wrote her own songs.
Flash forward to the current state of idol anime and Arinacchi writing another idol manga and designing the i7 characters.
Is full moon worth watching? Look at it now, surprised at how high of a score it has.

I don't think they gave a clear estimate yet but you'll play Summer Lesson for like 30hours and then be alone again.
VR technology and stuff as of now can't be used as substitutions to human contact yet because it's too limited data wise. At some point you'll just have done everything in one game and heard every line and done every scene. You'll have to wait for the next game.
Of course that's a problem that can be solved with time.

Handwritten Japanese is really tiring to read, not sure if because it's normaly the case or because I'm not native.
It's not about being naive, it's just not being used to reading it written like that. If you think that's bad, real Japanese written with pen and paper is even worse.
It worries me just how more difficult I find reading handwritten Japanese.
Aidoru Katsudou Rock Ver is the kind of song that make you cringe at first but then you love.
But I love Furi voice and Sweet Sp!ce is my favorite song, so take my opinion just as a grain of salt.
Handwritten English (or anything using the Latin alphabet) can be hard enough, and that only uses 26 characters that you probably spend half your life staring at. I don't think it's at all surprising that handwritten Japanese is difficult.
Hell, I can't even read by own handwriting half the time.

Sumire was pushed A LOT more than other main characters, she didn't need other song.
I'd like to see the numbers behind that, but either way it wasn't a Sumire song, it was an Akari and Sumire song [in the anime].

The DanDiva arc was huge and very Sumire-oriented. At least Jalapeño got some love after job against Nadeshiko.
