I thought the protag giving up on his revenge and just getting the girl was the whole point of the anime. I mean, I picked it up exactly because that sounded like it'd be a nice love story.
It was for around 10 chapters and then it started dragging out, but I didn't expect people to be mad because of him not following through with his revenge, something that was obvious from page 1.
