No, because rewatching a show would dull it's magic

Only the ones I really like

Who doesn't?

Yes Initial D First stage, about twice a year.

Only when I watched anime on TV.
Now, I just watch on PC and I have a lot of new anime to watch, I don't need to watch them again.

I always rewatch the BD version for the shows I really liked.

I rewatch the battle stages instead.

This, when I can.

Yes I do. Mostly when I don't know what else to watch. Oh and K-on/Toradora every Christmas.

I find it adds to it, really.

I like to rewatch shows with friends or family

I rewatch shit all the time, it's nice catching things I missed the first time.

Mostly no, there are a lot of shows I want to rewatch, it's just hard to justify doing over watching something new.

I'm rewatching haruhi during double xp weekend on runescape desu

I ended up watching flcl like six times in the past two months

Sure the races are dank, but where is the cheese in that?

>friends
>family
Get out.

It doesn't, because you literally know what happens in the show

I rewatch my favourite shows every 3-4 years so it feels kind of fresh.

My sister literally watched it 6 times back-to-back.

I rewatch symphogear almost every month at this point
it's just my go to show when I've got nothing to do and I'm not bored of it yet

If you reduce art to a mere list of events, sure, but that's not the case. It's an experience. Knowing what happens is irrelevant.

nah. rewatching is for people who have problems comprehending or spotting things so they discover something new with every rewatch. I get it all in my first go and whenever I do rewatch things I get nothing new from it.

If a show you're watching is ruined by knowing what happens, it's a fucking terrible show.

>It's an experience
its dulled in that regard as well. I rewatched code geass and it felt empty. only things that kept shining were VS battles like ichigo vs ulquiorra and this
youtube.com/watch?v=ZqXgGzFmQzI

Very rarely.

I've seen Code Geass and Last Exile a couple of times each, but that is about it.

the clip is a hatchet job but it should be clear which moment I mean

I think there's more to it than just a list of things to discover. I've seen Totoro dozens of times. I could redraw the storyboards from memory. But even then, I watched it last week and was moved to tears. Because I forgot what happened? No, because it's just that fucking good.

Maybe because Code Geass sucks. There's plenty I've watched multiple times and the experience has never lost its magic.

>double xp weekend
>he plays rs3

The difference is watching something without any knowledge and watching it after you've gained the knowledge.

Stories that reveal the world layer by layer, rather than event by event, are worth revisiting when you already know all the layers.

I mean, as long as it's interesting. If you desire new content you might find it boring, yeah.

K-on. Every summer.

I don't really like old school personally

I rewatch Madoka every other month.

or people deal with media in different ways. When I find an new song I love it so much I play it over and over and over and over then I add it to my collection and forget about it for months. some people are like that with anime but with anime for me 1 time is enough.

>are worth revisiting when you already know all the layers.
nah that is when people start deluding themselves into saying its genius and everything was foreshadowed form day 1

This thread prompted me to dig through the list of shows I've completed in the last 10 or so years I've been watching anime. Good lord have I watched a lot of fucking garbage that I wouldn't touch with a ten feet pole now.

no. But i might start because im running out of shit to watch

I rewatch anime in much the same way I read a good book again, listen to the same song again or play a good game again. It's a fun way to spend some time off.

star watching live action dramas

sorry

Only yaoi

Yeah, when I'm drunk and if the show is one I really enjoy.

What are your favorites?

I would probably re watch a anime just after finishing it because most times I feel like I would miss something. The only anime though I would rewatch almost on a yearly basis is Toradora around Christmas time.

Well the reason they're 'deluding' themselves into calling foreshadowing 'genius' is that they found new valuable connections between distant plot elements on the second time through.

They did not find shit, they have foreknowledge so they start seeing connections were they are not any or see some older connections as stronger. The same way when someone shows a connection its hard to unseen it , even when its bull

only correct answer

if you dont you obviously dont like anime that much and if u rewatch everything u need to watch more shows

Give me an example

I really liked code geass and recommended it to my cousin. But when I dropped by later to watch some of it with him, I remembered every single thing that was going to happen and so it wasn't as fun as it was the first time.

Do you like historical drama about unifying japan/korea/china or maybe something about traveling back in time to old japan/korea?

I'm re-watching baccano right now with my friend because he hasn't seen it before.

This is the first anime I've ever re-watched, I think.

It's also one of my favorite, which is a good amount of why I'm watching it too.

only evangelion

Autistic?

I never rewatched before but i probably will do it with katanagatari

Historical drama about unification

Lower your standards and you will have/plenty of stuff to watch

Only my favorites. And some certain ones to put me in the mood for a certain time of the year. Like Tokyo Godfathers on Christmas.

Only shows I really liked. Eva about once a year. Strike wtiches about the same as Eva. For some reason I can just never get enought Girls und Panzer though. I swear I rewatch that shit every 2-3 months.

Rarely. But I've been thinking about rewatching a whole bunch of stuff from back in the day. And by back in the day I mean like shit from 05 to 10

I have to agree. Given a bunch of clues and no answers, people draw their own conclusions. However, I still think that this is valuable and some questions are left unanswered by the author just for that reason.

Only bleach because it's so deep and I forget a lot of stuff. I have to watch it once a month to refresh my memory.

almost never
Madoka magica and Cromartie high are the only shows ive ever rewatched.

Every now and then.

Honestly, I prefer to watch new stuff but I do go back to series I enjoy every now and then. Granted, I do sometimes skip around if a particular episode is boring or filler but I do try to catch most of it.

I also rewatch some series with a friend who might not have seen it before, so it works out pretty OK.

Cowboy Bebop once a year. But only when its cold, there is snow on the ground, and its after 11pm.

I will try it under these conditions

I always find myself watching this fight. It's not even that old but I can't help it.

I'll probably rewatch re:zero because a girl i know was talking about wanting someone to watch it with, and i enjoyed it the first go around

>tfw k-on is my favorite anime
>tfw every time i rewatch it it just gets sadder
>tfw promised to myself i'll only rewatch it proper either once i can do it without subs or when i decide to kill myself

If I ever decide to kill myself I'm gonna get drunk and rewatch Cowboy Bebop before I do it desu.

>only when its cold, there is snow on the ground, and its after 11pm.
For what purpose?

Talk to your family and eat broccoli.

Those are the rules.

I've done a lot of re-watching in the last year. It's been fun revisiting series I've forgotten most details of.

I once paid an escort to watch madoka with me.

Don't you have a backlog to clear user?

Did she like the show?

That is fucking awesome

seems like she did.

I guess she has shit taste.

O-ok.

I can only watch one episode of Katanagatari per month, no?

I rarely used to rewatch anime, but I've been doing it a lot more this past month or so. For most of the shows I rewatched I found myself enjoying it almost as much, if not even more, than on my first viewing.

I guess one way of knowing what shows are your absolute favorites is to see if they still hold up upon rewatching it. As earlier anons posted, if you think a show is ruined by knowing how the plot will turn out it's probably because you never enjoyed it that much in the first place. To think highly of a show just because it has some unexpected plot twist is just absurd.

With that being said, I'll definitely continue to rewatch more anime from now on. Now is a good time for it too inbetween seasons.

I've only rewatched Love Live! 3 times

But some scenes become almost brand new with hindsight.

...

Hyouka around once per year

I also rewatched Rolling Girls once because I wanted to confirm that it's good but that's around it

No but I do re read manga

no.

Rewatched One Piece about 3 times, so yes.

How is that even possible?

i live for 2 years with no net and with only 921 GB of anime so i rewatched every single one of them even guilty crown (the firs half only)

I haven't yet. The nostalgia factor kicks in at around 5 years and 10 years so I'll watch one of my favourites then.

I used to but I don't anymore due to lack of time.

I don't watch the intro, and the recap. By the start of Punk Hazard that shaves up to 10 min of each episode. Also watched it 4 times if you count watching the dub in with the sub.

>921GB
That's nothing, then again I live for three months without internet so I always bring with me 7TB or so when I go abroad.

I got distracted. watch furin kazan and ryomaden. They are bit melodramatic but still nice

Only a couple of them.

I rewatch the shit out of Bokurano. Same feels every time.

Everyone should.

After 5 years one show you thought was 'good' can become 'great' and vise versa.

That depends on the anime. I can watch Baccano and Steins;Gate multiple times without getting bored. Something like Konosuba and Re:Zero, I wouldn't rewatch. It's a sort of thing that you watch once.

Yeah, but I do that with a lot of other stuff too. Movies, books, and music.

Usually not. I can probably count the shows I've rewatched on one hand. I'd rather just watch another show.

Who the fuck has time to do that. Unless its episode of the week and not a continuous plot.

J-jeremy?

i wait several years until i forget most of it then i watch it with friends who havent seen it
i will find myself visiting favorite scenes now and then

>tripfag being autistic again

You have wasted a lot of your life

And that's coming from an user

The only time wasted is time spent not doing what you want or doing something that's necessary to allow you to do what you want.

Only ones based on my favorite mangakas' work, really, but certain ones (Haruhi, Madoka, Eva) are also included.

I'm stuck in a loop where I'll accidentally catch part of a Shokugeki no Soma episode and then watch two or three more

Send help

Probably 99% of shows I will never rewatch, but there are a few shows that I will watch every 1-2 years.

The shows I do end up watching again are typically comedy shows/shows with a lot of references in them and each time I watch them I understand more and more references that are being made which allows me to enjoy the show more after each viewing.

Almost all of s2 is shit though because it's just entirely the chunin exams

You don't actually want to rewatch One Piece.

>He doesn't rewatch anime but he comes back to Cred Forums to see the same shitposts over and over

Do any other anons feel like they have to rewatch something to really call it one of your favourites? I feel like a bit of a fraud if, for example, I put something on my 3x3 that I've only watched once, no matter how much I loved it while watching it.

I usually rewatch anime when I hit a dead season, which this fall is shaping up to be seems like.

I've rewatched my favorite anime Ping Pong 6 times

>I'm tired, Cred Forums. I'm tired of all of these cycles. I feel like I'm posting the same bait, the same shitposts over and over again.
>It's not going to change, Cred Forums. This is all we'll ever be.

>6 times
how many neets are on Cred Forums?
if not where do you get all this free time?

Yes, I go through Pani Poni Dash annually every April

This, start season one on Mugi's birthday.
Each year I've been watching another piece of the franchise for the first time; next year I'll finally see the movie. Feels so nice to have savored it this long.

>once i can do it without subs
I look forward to doing this as well, since it'll also open up the world of Radi-on! to me.

I've only seen K-On! once but I've started this weird tradition where I watch the movie every year on my birthday because it came out on my birthday so this year will be the fifth time I've seen it.

How? Did it come out quite recently too? I guess I'm not better though since I've seen all of Non Non Biyori 3 times now even though it only finishing airing a year ago.

Apart from that, I seen a few other shows I'm really fond of a second time, but most shows I probably won't bother to ever rewatch.

I plan to rewatch Hidamari Sketch next year watching each episode on the dates of the episodes.

It's only like 12 episodes so I can power through it in a single day if I don't have uni work to do

As long as you're not rewatching immediately after you watched it, I feel it tends to add to it. Obviously it's on a case-by-case basis, but for the most part I enjoy the show much, much more the second time through. I wasn't a huge fan of Yuuki Yuuna when I went through it the first time, but I just finished watching it my second time and had a blast.

I rewatched Redline as soon as I finished it. There's a lot going on there.

Same. The only anime I've ever rewatched immediately after I finished are Redline and Lain

Only toradaora during december and code geas during the summer really. Only because of the feeling of nostalgia

No. I dont want to see the deaths again

only ping-pong and redline

I try to keep an even split between rewatch, backlog, and currently airing shows. A rewatch can be a totally different experience because your perspective can change so much in a few years.

I knew that Kamina was going to die before I watched Gurren Lagann, I knew Homura was a time traveler before I watched Madoka, those moments weren't ruined for me and I'll still rewatch those shows.

Maybe you're familiar with dual watching? Basically, playing two or sometimes more videos at once, usually with the sound from all but one of them much lower. It's one way people try to keep up with a really large number of currently airing shows, basically, they have one they're most interested taking, say, 60% of their attention, and the rest spread to the other. With new material, it's pretty difficult. But I think a really good way to introduce yourself to it is if you have something you nostalgia watch like that. Maybe this Christmas, try Toradora in one window, quiet, and something new in another window at the same time. It really does create an interesting experience and I think it'll catch on if more people try it.

I don't think it'll catch on because it's fucking stupid. If something is so uninteresting that you need to distract yourself to get through it, fucking drop it. Holy fucking shit.

I rewatch Sora no Woto every time before I go to Cuenca. Also some old favourites but I do have quite the backlog to work through, so I don't rewatch as much as I do considering I'm too spoiled by choice of what new material I have.

Only my favorites, like Nana.

I'd say it wasn't fun watching it the first time.

I can't even read a book and listen to music at the same time - how do expect me to watch two shows at once? When I see someone using their phone while doing something else, I don't even understand how they can do it without missing something or messing up somehow.

Maybe I'm just retarded (probably am) but I'm not convinced multitasking is a real thing and not just a meme. It's basically switching between two things loads of times and fucking up both of them: should be called 'multifailing'.

How can you even keep with an anime if it's on at the same time as something else? Does that even count as watching it?

I'm 99% sure that user is bullshitting you, but I do generally do "more than one thing" at a time. Obviously not true multitasking, but if I'm watching a mediocre show I generally lurk irc and a few threads on Cred Forums, when I'm actively posting on Cred Forums I lurk irc and listen to music, when I'm focusing on a conversation in irc I listen to music and lurk Cred Forums, when I'm on skype or mumble I post on Cred Forums and irc.

When I watch something really good (right now its Monster) I shut off all the other screens and focus on it.

It just takes practice. Try it casually, next time you're watching something new, just open two videos, one you've seen before, muted, and a new one. That way you're sort of leaning on your memory of the one you saw to help you and fill in gaps. And it's just there to sort of mix the feelings and visuals of it together with the newer media. It's like seasoning on plain food. Once you get used to how it changes the experience, you'll probably want to try it more with different stuff, and you'll get more used to it, and before long you'll be able to watch multiple new shows all at once and doing it the old way will seem like eating plain pancakes with no syrup, or something.

Only a few episodes when i've done it by myself.
I've rewatched a few series when watching it with a friend i recommended it to though

I've rewatched Cross Game 5 times and find out enjoyment out of it every time. I didn't like Hyouka but I gave it another try and fell in love with it.

Honestly, rewatching shows should be a must if you truly think something is objectively good. Too much bias in your first viewing, things you couldn't have noticed, things you thought were good but aren't really in hindsight.

"Losing the magic" is bullshit and you've probably only watched a low amount of anime if you actually believe this.

>if you truly think something is objectively good.
Strangling yourself is a must if you truly think something is "objectively good." After any amount of viewing.

I rewatched GuP nine times to date.

Azumanga Daioh, once every few years.
NNB, every new year ever since it aired.

That sounds extremely stupid. I genuinely doubt you remember much from what you're watching, and I don't understand why you feel the need to justify ot by converting others.

>Always rewatch comfy slice of life shows whenever I feel down
>Never watch the last episode because I don't want it to end
It's a nice feeling when you never watch the final episode where the school friends separate and go to college and you know their friendship will never be the same.

Comfyshits are always gud to rewatch.

True multitasking is a meme. What you can do however is give yourself multiple things to attend to and focus on the one that's most interesting at that moment. A lot of times if I'm watching an anime and I can tell nothing interesting is going to happen for a while I'll do some quick browsing while passively listening like I would a podcast or radio show. Then when I hear something that catches my attention I'll go back to watching.

Comedies, yes.
Everything else, Shift+Del.

Very rarely.

>he isn't a neet master race
???

So you don't think works can be objectively better than other works?

Try again please

Haruhi, K-on!, Toradora and NHK every year.

I've rewatched Code Geass five times. It never fails make me feel that magic I felt 9 years ago.

They can't.

If I'm watching TV, I can't do anything else at the same time. Mind you, I am one of these fags who thinks about shit like camera angles and framing and I pay attention to the animation in some shows as well and I really can't stop myself from being like that. I just feel like I've missed something even if I divert my attention for a little while.

I can listen to music while I post on Cred Forums, though, just not when I'm properly reading, and I can have multiple threads open at once but I still don't tend to do any more than that at once.

I get this for TTGL, but I've only seen it 3 times.

Every season of Hidamari Sketch, multiple times, never sober.

Of course. When I watch something for the first time I'm watching it viscerally. I live inside the world and react in real time. If all goes well I've had a pleasant experience. Once all of my feelings for the show in question have dulled I will rewatch it analytically. This is when I examine the mechanics of the storytelling itself and figure out "what worked and why?" and all that jazz.

I rewatched Lain because I didn't understand shit when I watched it the first time. I still didn't get it.

yes i've rewatched initial d, samurai champloo, rurouni kenshin numerous times

That's why he said with only

my dawg

also have rewatched gundam seed and seed destiny numerous times

Are people really this retarded? Or just pretending?

There's nothing to "get"

There's quite litterally nothing to get.
It was just a clusterfuck of pseudo intellectual nonsense and tard tier understanding of early internet and cyberpunk thrown at a wall from episode one. .

Flcl ive seen a million times
Eva

I re read manga much more often. Read GTO about once every two years or so. Read Love Hina once a year prob. Probably will re-read I"s again soon as well

Usually only if someone else wants to watch something I have already seen.

Have seen Cowboy Bebop, Fruits Basket, Black Lagoon, and Hellsing numerous times. There is really just too much anime to spend time regularly rewatching

Watching Kamen Rider Ryuki ruined the surprise of Madoka Magica. Did the entirety of Madoka really have to copy Ryuki?

Sometimes I get that uncontrollable urge to watch a show with certain themes, so I go rewatch a favourite because I can't find any new shoes that satisfy the urge. I constantly rewatch:

>Eyeshield 21
>Hajime no Ippo
>GTO
>Seto no Hanayome
>Toradora
>Berserk manga

I found it surprising that I enjoyed these shows about as much as I did the first time watching them, I'll probably be watching a few of them again considering fall looks so shit.

I rewatched brotherhood after a couple years
rewatched half of klk, but didn't finish the second time

>Hajime no Ippo
I've rewatched this show I think 6 times. I wish they would animate more of it.

>not rewatching code geass atleast once a year

No

There are very few anime that benefit from a rewatch.

And I don't have time when may backlog is never ending.

I've rewatched Code Geass two or three times and still enjoyed plenty of it. Each person has different views though.

Never in my life, I rewatched anything but love and prejudice

Sometimes I rewatch, but I find a lot more enjoyment when I watch a show with Cred Forums in most cases
Turns bad shows into fun shows
Good shows into shitstorms
That said there are some that I enjoy too much to just forget about.
Rewatch them every so often when I feel in the mood

Currently rewatching jojo with some friends who have seen it and one who hasnt, pretty fun

I've seen Kaiji like 9 times.
Akagi about 8.
One Outs 3 times I think.

Can't think of anything else I've rewatched.

Only when I've pretty much forgotten most things that happen in it. Takes years, sometimes.

This is an anime I would rewatch a few times. It doesn't rely entirely on plot twists to keep it running or hi-larious gags which feel ruined if you know whats going to happen like Nichijou.

>kaiji
>9 times

stop lying
the pacing is so shit that it's impossible

Sometimes I'll show a series to my kids after I've vetted it for them.

I'm not rewatching that garbage that's for sure

You've successfully proven how badass you are, nice job. You can clock out for the night.

I re-watched FMA 2003 twice and the movie four times when I was fourteen, I remember spending a straight week binge watching it after school when I was in one of my autistic obsession phases. Now I can't really re-watch anything besides my few favorite series without getting bored once I remember what happens.

code geass is actually one of the rare shows that gets much better upon rewatching because there is so much shit crammed into each episodes.

9/28

Every year

Never forget

When I'm enjoying a show a lot, I can't help it but to get lost on the dialogue and what is happening.
I usually re-watch to check details that I didn't get, like scenery or pieces of dialogue that didn't matter at first glance

I would rewatch Code Geass every day if not for wanting to save it for special occasions

What count are you up to?
I'm at 36 that I've counted, probably around 39 truly.

I've watched every shitty reaction videos on youtube, i've listened to the dub in the background while playing Europa,i've listened to subless commentary tracks.

All this and I've yet to watch any of the cd dramas, nightmare of nunnally or Akito because I know I will hate them.

>I've watched every shitty reaction videos on youtube, i've listened to the dub in the background while playing Europa

I know you'll try to defend this as "content" but it really isn't and you have no taste. But, I should expect nothing else from some who managed to sit through Code Geass 36 fucking times.

I can't watch anything else. I think I will try experimenting with speed and pitch shifts. I am always looking for that extra edge to make rewatching CG a new experience. Perhaps overlapping the sub and dub together.

If I haven't rewatched it in a while, I begin to have suicidal thoughts. If you've seen any autistic blog post about CG on Cred Forums it 20% likely that its from me.

This thread started with posts saying they don't rewatch shows and it's incrementally moved towards more rewatches until we reached these posts ( , ) where people have claimed to have watched a show 9 or even 36 times. In 200 posts time, this thread will be like that thread's going to be like that dude that listened to that one linkin park song 90,000 times and there's going to be people claiming to have seen Keit Ai 6 gorillion times.

Isnt the entire anime industry dependant on people watching anime on tv and then buying the BD to watch it again?

To be a true anime patrician you need to watch every single show every season at 1.5x speed or under. This takes a great deal of time. Only rewatching the top 3 anime each year is acceptable for true scholars.

if it has cute girls yes
cute girls never cease to make me feel good

I've been rewatching DB and DBZ but this time the Japanese version.

That and merchandising.

Saw all of Kaiji 5 times, Eva 4 times, original HxH 3 times, Kill Me Baby 5 times

Why spoiler? KMB is great.

fucking store fronts I swear to god

Only many years later when I've forgotten what happens in it

Its a joke about the contrast of seriousness. Hell KMB is probably the only female cast SOL I can stomach because the girls aren't wank bait and its actually funny, I do think of it highly.

Only EVA

If I like it, I rewatch it.

Some of my rewatched series:
>Space Battleship Yamato 2199
>Hajime no Ippo
>GTO
>FMP series (i always dig watching that desert episode where his whole crew dies)
>Ouran Host Club
>Cross Game

Not really, I have too many series I want to watch to be rewatching stuff.

Only ones I really like.

Do people like this watch anime because they enjoy it?
its like being an anime collector for the sake of collecting

I still really enjoyed it

Only shows I really liked and can be absolutely sure that I won't ruin them by rewatching them.

I'd rather be ignorant and believe a show I've enjoyed before was good rather than rewatch it and become a bitter fuck hating it.

I always rewatch Haruhi up to Christmas so I can watch the movie with Cred Forums.
I also like to rewatch Akagi.
