I marathoned it and I enjoyed it for what it is but the QUALITY is really blatant. If you don't mind that then it's a decent watch, if only for the characters and OST. The BDs may fix the absolutely horrible animation quality but after the abysmal quality of the TV version I'm not so sure.

Yeah, I liked that part in that one episode where the kids derailed their train to let their infantry shoot at the drones from a specific angle.

Crazy train-derailing plans always work.

Show isn't as bad as most people would claim. The plot was interesting and the characters were good. Plot twist was a bit silly but with the way the show turned out I'm okay with it. Soundtrack was great (even though I don't particularly care for dubstep). Visual quality (animation and art were very inconsistent) overall was what hurt this show a lot though. I'd say I enjoyed this show and thought it was good overall. Better than some other shit that aired, and at least this one had an ending I can be satisfied with.

Gonna check out Kizu no Kinka for more of the Chigusa mom though, she was a great addition to the characters albeit small.

That's the unfortunate problem with Japan trying to adapt so many games, manga and light novels. It tries to force so much content into so little episodes that most shows just end so badly because they pace it wrongly or just stop at a horrible point. It's genuinely a breath of fresh air these days when something ends and you can walk away from the series feeling satisfied.

It's always been this bad.
The industry is fueled by adaptations and adaptations rarely go all the way to the end because that's not the point and because the sponsors don't want to pay for an advertisement that has 200 episodes and chases away potential new fans by virtue of being too big of an undertaking to pick up.

Originals that close the loop in 1-2cours are an exception rather than the rule.

I completly agree there. I always thought anime should stand on their own, even if they are based on a manga or whatever, they have to be its own thing and never depend on the source to be enjoyed.

I don't really mind it in manga adaptations, the source material is better 99% of the time anyway.
But when something interesting comes out of a LN which will never see the light of day in the west, then I get pissed.

Well, this show had fun characters, a good story, and fantastic music. If only the animation wasn't so trash.

In the end I really enjoyed it, and will resent A-1 forever for not doing everything else about it justice.

Set aside an hour every day or two and start learning runes. After a year or two you'll be more than proficient to start reading through said LNs in their prime state without being butchered by an anime or having to rely on the possibility of someone picking it up and translating it at a decent pace.

I really doubt that's really what Iwasaki is saying. Even if he really believed that, it would be way too unprofessional to say publicly. There's no way he'd burn bridges that easily. Finally getting around to watching the final episode (Work interfered today). 10 minutes in and already the QUALITY has hit a new low. I didn't even think that was possible.

It happens during the Hime vs Unknown (Airi) fight, it once again just plays background noise of them fighting while showing you a still of something completely irrelevant. Happens quite a few times through the show.
