Insane enough to think Mankai was a good idea, although given everything she'd seen that'd be somewhat more understandable than some random Taisha members signing off on it. Same here. I was impressed by the animation and music more than anything at first, since it was a no name show so I expected it to be cheap shit, but the characters grew on me by episode 2 and I was hooked. Helped that the Verexes reminded me of Evangelion's Angels.

Episode 3 became my favourite bit of the show after god knows how many times.
Man, if YuYuYu had spent more time developing the adults it could have been the true Evangelion of the Magical Girl genre.
It even had Studio Khara making giant CGI polyhedrons.
I liked how unlike a certain other mahou shoujo series that gets compared to Evangelion a lot, YuYuYu actually subverted common tropes in the genre, rather than playing them straight but in a dramatic and edgy manner.
To be honest, the funniest thing of people having fits over YuYuYu vs M-doka is that Evangelion does most of what both sides boast as their best aspect.
Character development from Slice of Life? Eva does it.
Dramatic stakes and visually stunning representations of the mind? Eva does it.
The "contractor" being a group of real people who have real and humane relationship with the main characters? Eva.

Get used trough Jrpgs at first, meet artists you like, for example, I mentioned Mitose who was my entry into it back in freaking 1999 under Chrono Cross (along with Akiko Shikata later on) then start going after everything the artist has done until you hit as deep as doujin groups, these usually have collabs with more artists, see the ones you like, repeat the process.

The problem with the Madoka "fandom" on Cred Forums is that the series ran out of things to talk about a long fucking time ago so now all that's left is shitposting and tripfags.
