Middle row?

Nostalgia is a powerful thing my friend. I'm sure that watching Macross in its original format is a very satisfying experience, but I've just never felt compelled to do it. Robotech is just alright with me. I also have the Robotech comics, those are fun.

These are pretty good movies, neat that so many of them are TV sequels. Never bought into the Wonder hype, but Jumping is cool as far as short films go.

I haven't seen that new Hosoda film, but I've heard a lot of negative things about it. What'd you like about it? I'm really not a fan of the guy but his earlier stuff is pretty cool, Digimon and Doremi and whatever. He's undeniably talented.

Honestly when ever I think to replace one of them it's another that's related to a TV anime like DYRL or Disappearance. There are a lot of Takahata films that are on the border though, might switch it up if not just to give a more diverse representation of my tastes

It's like, you've already sunk tens of hours into the series so there's that extra investment for the big payoff movie, easy to understand why they'd rise to the top.

I like the simplicity of the story, every minute of the film was used well and I am sucker for the family that's not family theme. It's odd to say but the reason I like Hosoda is that he builds the films around his characters instead of forcing unwanted attributes to add depth. It's nice to see just a well told tale without an unnecessary and unused false complexity to characters.

I don't know if that's it, I watched Oshii patlabor features before the TV series, and immediately loved it aswell as the 0079 recuts before TV 0079

I like that theme too, and family is something he's for sure great at.
