For me, I basically feel condemned to be a "Philosopher" I have always been the odd ball in my group of friends. I basically have/am very sickly and pale my entire life, and have been obsessed with the big questions. It's like a curse really. I think a lot of it has to do with when I was a kid, I would spend hours alone in my forest just thinking about the meaning of life. Talking to my self and such.
Another aspect is, that what the STEM fags say is true, if you go down this path you will make no money, and it is hard to find a quality woman that would want you. So you basically have to give up money and women for some "higher Ideal" whatever that means.

For example understanding the mechanics of human psychology, biochemistry as a matter of the causal physics therein, and the interactions of those systems with economic systems does not tell you how to act. That knowledge give you better intelectual tools to beign able to tackle societal problems compared to humanities.
