Why fighting games always use two rounds? why not one or five?

Why fighting games always use two rounds? why not one or five?

Because 1 is not enough and 5 is too much for traditional fighters. There are games though where BO5 is a norm because of damage or some other reasons

One doesn't allow someone to learn and adapt to their opponent.
5 takes too long.

just give them a bigger life bar and keep it 1

You can set rounds to 1 to 3/5 in most games. Easy examples are games like MvC and KOF that all have technically 1 round, but 3v3. Then you look at Tekken that's 3 rounds default.

In marvel 1 kinda works since you could argue that 1 character equals 1 round and in KOF 5 works cause there is one new character every round. Have no idea why 3d fighters have 5 rounds

In Marvel, 1 is awful because shit is too off the wall. There's a reason pretty much everyone pretty much agreed to it always being 3/5 way back when.

because round 1 is often a toss up until players start to get a read on their opponent

I used to change it to one when the option was available, it feels intense.
Now that games are mostly played online, it feels kinda weird and drawn out.

Injustice plays with this idea and does it pretty well.

Because autists, specially the SFfag, have a severe case of attention deficiency so they can't handle more time than 2-3 rounds without getting lost.

How?

People say games are random when they lose, but MvC tournament results show player consistency in results. Never understood how this shit stuck.

You got a double life bar, think dragon ball fighting game.
Once anyone loses one life bar, he drops to the ground, the opponent taunts him and the fight resume with no one healed.

So its like in Darkstalkers

Didn't play it, but I liked that life system so I'll probably have to give it a go.

killer instinct does this as well

because it's best out of 3

if you win the two first, it ends there, but if it's a tie after the second round, it goes to the third and final round

this has been an educational segment by porfessor user e. Moose.

was about to post this, it's the same shit though just less waiting

3d games use best of 5

The game is random, in gameplay. A lot of shit can happen that is out of your control or you just can't see that will make you lose. However, being able to play more games allows you to adapt to that.

How can it be random if your opponent was just a better player?

Getting caught in a 50/50 at the start of the round where you guess wrong is remedied by not being in that situation to begin with. You can watch EVO Grand Finals for proof of this. All Chris G did was walk under at the start of the round and KBR never got close again because his entire 50/50 gameplan was neutralized and he has the adaptability of a horse on stilts. This is why there are additional games.

Best of three is a sweetspot for 1v1 fightan

But that doesnt still make it random. He just had a gameplan and it got shot down

Because his entire gameplay is pressing H, armor, mashing lariat, and 50/50s. It's literally random personified and why he got blown up so bad, because he doesn't think. There was even a sequence when he had full health and he was mashing lariat 4 times full screen and died. That's random.

Best 2 out of 3 duh

why aren't tiebreakers actual fights between the two players?

>Because his entire gameplay is pressing H, armor, mashing lariat, and 50/50s. It's literally random personified and why he got blown up so bad, because he doesn't think.

There's nothing random about KBR's play, it's calculated risks. His team is strong because his character shell can take a lot of those with big payoff due to health, damage done and mixup. Like how can you possibly call a 50/50 random? He created the setup, he put himself in a situation to use it and it has a certain success level.

He got blown up because MorriDoom is a natural counter to his and pretty much most popular character shells in the marvel meta and you have to bank an early snatch on Morrigan to have a good chance of success. Funny thing about this is that it's easy to call KBR random for his wins, but when Jwong takes calculated risks to beat the same shell he's called the greatest.
