Music critics are allowed to express their true feelings about the music they review while video game critics are either paid shills or just in it for the money and praise/trash the game solely depending on what their audience wants to hear.

He reviews albums on Youtube. His videos aren't bad but over on Cred Forums people will deny liking something just because Fantano dislikes it.

Too bad he dresses and conducts himself in a way more befitting of a six year's old fantasy of what is appealing and acceptable adult behavior. Hard to take video games seriously as a hobby when the most respectable personnel in the field often have something about them that indicates stunted development, which, to be honest, might be a side effect of delving to far into the hobby we may have to admit to ourselves...

The genre dichotomy in music is the main reason why, strangely enough, it hasn't evolved, or rather, has devolved more than film, literature and theater. When you enjoy the more cerebral arts, you tend not to care about genre as much and appreciate the media in question on a more individual level, or at least one that is tied to other more important factors than just generalized taste. Whereas when reading something like Pitchfork, you're quick to spot how pseud most musical criticism is, one that seems more about inflating the writers ego and making base generalizations than offering anything of genuine value, all the while circlejerking over what genre or sub-genre terms they've managed to pull out of their assess.
