Soma

Last half of Bloodborne has a lot of feels

I've never actually became depressed playing a game before this. It's not like it's super deep or anything, it's just incredibly down with not even a molecule of any comic relief and your survivors finding joy usually means finding sadness somewhere else.

I.feel.the.feel.

...

...

...

...

...

Nier and Lisa are the only ones I can think of that were just oppressively unhappy games. Never did beat Lisa though, and never got ending D for nier.

MGS3, Silent Hill 2 are classic.
Hate me, but MGS4 really made me cry in ending since I was a long time MGS fan. And then Big Boss ruined everything...

Drakengard

All the Silent Hills

First 4 + Shattered are depressing by design, other games are depressingly bad... Play Homecoming if you really want to be cynical and sad at the same time

LOL Mgs 4 made me shed a single tear. Literally the only game I ever played to make me cry (I count a single tear as crying). I think it's like you said, being a long fan of the series. I remember playing the demo for mgs on ps1 as a kid and gasming over how "realistic" it looked.
MGS is a story over 10 years in the making.

SI Drakengard really as sad as Nier? I heard it's more just pure insanity.

i can't get into this game because the atmosphere makes me too depressed to continue onward

Why the yellow crusty face guy? Why not a Bloodsucker or a Snork or something?

>i count a single tear as crying

Wow, ur so tuff user. Ummm i wuz wondering haha do you have a gf? Haha lol

What? I think he meant in a completely opposite way.

>tfw don't know shit and killed a guy to take their stuff for the very first time

The walking dead
every time things are looking up it reminds you of the situation you're in.
It was also the first and only time I can remember crying at the end of a game.

looks intersting, from what I see on google it looks like I am Alive in 2d.
Speaking of, I am Alive is probably the 2nd most bleak game I've ever played.
It's not anything too special in terms of gameplay, but it executes the mechanics it had pretty well and the game's hopeful yet dreary atmosphere is constantly present.

It really sucks that the team that was making it had money issues and had to scale back the game into a smaller project.

>japanese use bleakness as a theme alongside gameplay

>westerners use bleakness to produce 'feels' as a substitute for non existing gameplay

pottery

I think it's supposed to be a Controller.

No, we split over summer.

You should beat Lisa if you get the chance
The ending will destroy you

MGSV used to legitimately stress me out, with 450 hours it doesn't anymore.

>spending too much time in the field isnt good for your health, take a break boss, do it for me.

"everything that gives you pleasure, also gives you pain to measure it by"

I mean, I get that there will always be some deviation between the concept art and the actual in-game models, but that seems like a real stretch.

The Void is probably best depiction of depression in vidya. Very melancholic yet beautiful. These poems...
youtu.be/-SddL4HeCeQ

dumb joostposter

I swear to god this game.
Joyful wasn't so good but that fucking ending was everything I could've hoped for.

bad or not dark souls is pretty sad

IMO Demon's Souls is more depressing. But simply due to the fact that apocalypse there already happened. We can't change it, everything is already dead, while in DaS it's only at dying.

Also I really missed these moments and atmosphere like in DeS. WIndblows in Boletarian Castle, almost Ico-esque lost island. Maiden Astraea.

Gears Of War

Soma is only bleak and depressing because of how shitty and boring it is.

Metro

Humanity is fucked and everything you do just delays the inevitable.

NPC storys are always fucking sad.

Petrus man

The Void is a great game, it manages to be artsy while taking advantage of its medium strength.
Only thing it has going against it is its brutal difficulty and shitty midgame bossfights. The Whale was ok but the Pangolin was just plain bad.

Maaaany years since I played Drakengard on ps2, but I remember it being mostly insanity for sure. It had its depressing moments, some depressing endings and such that gave me feels, but its overall more insane than anything else.
Kinda wish I still had my PS2 so I could revisit that game. The gameplay was pretty mindnumbing, but for its time it was alright.

World of Warcraft
You either quit or you're doomed to see all your friends, the world that you loved and eventually the very essence of the game you once enjoyed go.

Fuck that nigga I was happy as fuck doing my job.

t. eastern european

I was pretty sad at the end with Edér and Durance's reaction to the plot twist.

Yeah, you're probably right. I think it's just some random mutant face that has nothing to do with the game.
They probably added it to make the game stand out on shop shelves so people will notice it.
Call of Pripyat's cover is similar.

Well, I assume you played international version, right? Because I played also orginal Russian one. And it was even harder. No explanations at all, no numbers, nothing. But at the same time story was much more vague (international one is pretty straightforward, even has fucking QUESTS) and definetely more artsy.
So bascially international is actual game, original is piece of art.

Actually, the english release is harder acording to the devs. You don't need to complete quests either, only if you want to avoid fighting. The international release has more content as well, new rooms and enemies wich appear once the realm is damaged.
>So bascially international is actual game, original is piece of art.
I feel conflicted with this statement since it makes no fucking sense, the russian version is still a video game even if it lacks quests and has a somewhat more subtle plot.

Skyrim

hello friend

Sorry got it wrong, int. feels more like a real game. That's what i wanted to say. Int. definetely has much more handholding. But I won't really discuss which one is better - they are both great and I really wish Void would get more recognition internationally. In Russia both Pathologic and Void are quite well known and to some extent popular (I remember press made huge fuzz about Void back than).

i cried

Dragon Age Origins can be fucking depressing if you do a shitty/evil run.

that's so incredibly fucking gay

Didn't personally find it all that depressing, but the best ending sees a lot of shit going south for the cast.

Petrus is a coward and a snake, there's nothing depressing about the guy
I killed him on the spot once I found he had murdered that chick, protip: he killed her and stole her talisman, then acts like he doesn't know

Well the fact that The Void was removed from Steam is not helping but I do agree with you, great game, definitely deserves more attention.

Is there actually any reason why it went down? It was on Steam for years. At least it's on GOG now.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qbh0FXaD6_0

I didn't mean Petrus, I meant the crestfallen dude who's depressed at everything. I never even bothered with Petrus.

I think IPL had problems with their publisher.

Dark souls. The whole point of the game is to literally die . Fuck that, if I were the CU I would've ran away

lol

...

Eh, the themes are all there and it's fun to pick apart, but thankfully the game is lighthearted enough to not be taken completely seriously.

Why not emulate?

Winner right here. Just thinking about it makes me shudder.

Any horror game. Seriously, is there a more hopeless feeling than in vidya like Resident Evil and Silent Hill? I can't think of more depressing games.

>Winner right here.
Actually, The Void is worse. Pathologic is dark and depressing, but also carries strong themes of hope and idealism, of - dare I say - Utopia.
The Void is literally a game solely and exclusively about existential dread, inevitability of death and decay and about the futility of hope. Even the most "happy ending" of The Void is predicated on acceptance of those things, rather than on a way to avoid them.

I'd argue that even Silent Hill 2 is actually, all things considered, more bleak and depressing than Pathologic.

I agree. I'd also like to add that the gameplay has a major impact on the general feeling of the game. I haven't played SH2 yet, but Pathologic somehow managed to drain me physically due to this.

It is more post-depression if anything.

I would say it's more weird than sad, finding the 3 synicles on the Space Hulk level is kind of sad because you realize how deluded is Rimmanah at this point but the confusion of finding 3 enemies hidden that reveal a big part of the lore overrides everything else.

Pathologic is physically and mentally exhausting, perhaps more than any of these games (with the possible exception of The Void). Compared to that, Silent Hill 2 is much "easier ride". But when it comes to core story themes and motives, I'd say SH2 is worse on an account of being almost exclusively a psychological study of tragedy-related human suffering.
Compared to that, Pathologic is still very abstract and very... how should one put it? Metaphysical? It's somewhat harder to actually humanly relate to much of what is going on in it. Although it does help that the game has some really amazing characters that it's pretty hard not to care about.
Lara, Capella and Julia are the best girls. Ever. In any game ever made.

...

>wow, that's a giant penis
my first reaction

Kara no Shoujo

...

I wouldn't call it weird, rather, that it is trying to convey descent into insanity.

Fallout 1. The deserts are so vast and empty. Fallout 2 to an extent but it feels like you can't go five seconds without coming across a huge city.

it's one of the zombie's faces
it's yellow because the zone where you first met them is kinda yellow-ish

I really wish Joyful had better everything. The music is great, and the last battle is fucking perfect, but everything up to it is kind of eh.

What's this?

A pile of rubble in the rain?

Its a shame all people will remember it for is yelling Shawn and Jason. I enjoyed it.

>waifu gone
>best and only friend gone
>town is probably traumatized
>next time another ayylmao from hell will start this shit again

Came in to post this. The game doesn't even try to be particularly dark or sad, it's just about how raw and senseless the world actually is. You can do something bad and get rewarded, do something good and get fucked over for it, everyone is the star of their own story and nobody really cares about you or your problems. Your life goes to shit but the world keeps turning

F2 also has much more dark humor.

It ends on a pretty fucking depressing note, especially now we know what comes after.

What is The Road of video games

Yeah, people complain about Bethesda making the franchise a 'theme park' (quite literally with Nuka World lol) but Fallout 2 often feels like a parody of Fallout 1. It's basically 40% pop culture references and 20% humour.

pretty good desu, the second is even more bleak

Damn, final boss was such a cheap bullshit. D3's even more.

Last Of Us to some extent.

This. It went over board. It's like meme filled games today, Sunset overdrive/ watchdogs 2

You are searching that not existant finale uh?

metro duh

Different user, but I tried emulating it earlier through PCXS2 and the FPS is absolute shit. I've tried tinkering with some of the speedhack and other visual settings, but I can't get above a shitty 42FPS. My toaster just can't hack it, I guess.

...

how long until the remake? was the recent translation good enough to play through? The Void is one of my favorite games even if I'm shit at it and only watched a complete Let's Play to the end

>Bloodborne
>Lighthearted

42fps is definitely playable. I would say that's pretty good.
>inb4 consolefag
just poorfag

Man what the fuck is even this game. I can't tell if it's trying to be satire or serious.

>Get to use Angelus's body parts as weapons in the Nier DLC.
Strong as fuck but man it just didn't feel right.

fps is definitely playable. I would say that's pretty good.
I wouldn't have an issue with the slowdown if it didn't affect the audio as well. This isn't normal lag or anything, the entire game is bogged down and impossible to play. I'm not sure if it's my settings or an inadequate graphics card, but I'm pretty sure it's my hardware.

Depression the Game right here.

the aesthetic was nice for a bit until you find out the game is about finding a guy who is so mean to people online that they kill themselves

literally Tumblr fights Cred Forums Trolls: The Game, fuck this shit

I still haven't played the second one, I'm not even sure if I want to.

any king's field game

Holy fucking shit.

Except that's a small facet of the overall story and only really enters your mind at the end as an "oh yeah, right", every other character you interact with (including the guy who fucking made/voiced salad fingers & burntfaceman) are twisted and genuinely horrifying.

The Downfall remake was still better even if it is retarded to 100% the game because of vague dialogue choices

Considering the position of the guy, it's only natural that he listened to a maniac and killed himself.

it's trying to be twin peaks.

Not quite sure if that was the point, since you have plenty of times you can do something good and get rewarded well depending on some situations.

Metro is bleak but you fix things in the end, if only a little. so its more of a "hope wins out" kind of series so far.

I'm not gonna lie and say it wasnt a weeaboo excuse for a prequel. But goddamn they did a good job making Zack an actual likable character. I knew the end was coming but it was damn hard to watch.

This game is so fucking dark all the time. I don't think out of everyone you meet in the game there is one positive outcome. I mean its a beautiful game and that totally appropriate for a western genre, but fuck man, how depressing

>Bonnie not getting John hurt the worst

Soma is relentlessly depressing.

I'm sure Bonnie will eventually find a nice husband. She deserved better than John, and I'm sure John knew that.

eh depends on which ending you get. Still is insanely depressing regardless.

the book is even more so.

Nope, shes over like 30 in that game, which means shes past her prime in those days. They talk about how she had a few flames but its too late now.

If you read the newspaper the corpse fucker(Seth?) either strikes it rich or manages to con his way into the casinos in europe.

>Hi. Its me, the first boss.
>Uh... Jerry... Tintz...
>Jerry Tintz.
>I'm a big mean bad boy!
>And uh... you've been acting like a real downer.
>Not really relationship material. or something.
>So... Fuck you.

Best game

Dwarf Fortress

No matter how big of a hero you are, the world will eventually fall silent, and not even animals will remain.

>depressing
>get to kill a bunch of cool monsters
>bring your girlfriend back to life
>get a do over on life
>your horse didn't die
>get to be raised by your girlfriend and have hot as fuck /ss/ sex with her
>by the time you're in your prime of your teen she will be a hot milf ready for impregnating
How is this bleak? He literally got best ending.

Didn't think it would hit me as hard as it did especially going in knowing what was bound to happen, but man when those slots started disappearing, I saluted and cried.

episode 5 was ultimate sadcore

ignoring the retarded parts of your post, the ending is bitter-sweet

like 60% bitter 40% sweet

...

>help star-crossed lovers get married
>get manipulated by that young upstart crime boss, their families lose everything

>help factory owner mechanise his production line
>you make bank while everyone loses their jobs

>convince farmer's daughter to move to the city so she can make something of herself
>goes broke and accomplishes nothing, but is too proud to go home and admit that she has no future

>team up with criminal syndicate bookie to fix a trotmobile tournament
>rat him out, he goes to jail, you keep the winnings + his share of the money

the turning point in this for me was when I realised I would have to steal from a kind elderly couple to survive, because I had poorly managed up to that point.

also, LISA is kinda depressing, though there's too much comic relief for anything to really set in.

idk but it's still buyable for Steam on IndieGala and G2A

Oh my god;

I remember when I finally got this shit after years of not having an xbox; it was like the only thing that made me want to have one.

And then I get enough chapters in for them to start revealing shit.

Oh my fucking god.

Also fun as fuck. RIP remake/reboot.

They made a game about ME?

brb need to buy 8 copies

Roxas... Had a hard life...

Him and Axel both, the shit they went through together was punishing

>Bloodborne
>lighthearted

Digital Devil Saga.
It's a game about never-ending rain, being born to die, and compulsory tribal cannibalism.

>that lore
>that sense of helplessness
>the world is already dead
>you're only fighting to delay the inevitable
>no "good" ending
>most of the allies you find end up dead

Too bad the sequels came and fucked with the story.

Did I do the right thing?

...

MGS3 fucking shit everything 1 and 2 made. 3 was a mistake and the beginning of the end. anybody who likes 3 is a faggot

original ending made more sense and would have been sadder. The ending they went with was just confusing and retarded. Also your horse not dying ruined anything sad there could have been in the game.

I don't think MGS really applies here, it has a lot of dark and heavy themes and moments, but it's sprinkled with goofy stuff throughout so it never gets too bleak.
MGS V:Ground Zeroes was pure suffering though.

...

This is a good answer.

this is the worst I can think of.

Agreed.

I failed to protect Sergei...

Both.
Anyone else find it weird how much of Deadly Premonition is in MGSV: The Phantom Pain?

Most of those can be debated as good, though. Helping Jacque might be good, but you're putting trust into a complete stranger.

Helping the factory upgrade was something that had to be done since the place was going to go under otherwise.

The farmer's daughter still had to get the experience of knowing freedom instead of letting her dad decide her entire life.

There wasn't anything good about following the scumbag who fixed that match.

My god, he's right.

>game is a pretty lighthearted jrpg for the first 30-40 hours
>implies a child prostitution ring one of the characters was going to be abducted into
>racism is rampant across 3 races
>goes full on genocidal in the second disc
>everyone on the planet but 30 something people get turned into eldritch abominations
>bad guy still pretty much gets what he wants anyway
>the world is still screwed over

I still have to play Xenogears

How the fuck is sotc depressing?

God dammit, I've had it installed on my computer for like a year now but I'm too afraid to play it. I'm still not entirely over the first one, losing the tomboy was too much for me.

Pathologic. The Void also applies.

Mechanically it's a pretty standard and solid JRPG with a few twists on the normal turn based combat, but its praise mostly come from the story which at the time was a bit more mature with its themes than others.
It also has an amazing soundtrack, but the second disc is where people get divided on the game's quality.
While I liked it for being an interesting experience some will hate its linearity.

Overall it still stands pretty well as a game and the art aged finely too.

But if you like 90s jrpgs in general then you'll love it, especially since it was during square's golden age

I dunno, Dark Souls never made me depressed. It always felt really comfy, like a world I would love to live in if it wasn't so dangerous. DaS2 made me pretty melancholy though, I think it was the music.

Silent Hill 2

Nier, MGS4, Max Payne 3

DS1 & 2

Me3 ended up pretty bleak and depressing.

Your girlfriend is dead, you go to a cursed land on a doomed quest to revive her, even the god you strike a deal with warns you that your sacrifices will be great. You travel across a tremendous and desolate land murdering the only sentient beings there, who all do their damnedest just to get you away from their homes. Each majestic giant you kill falls limp to the ground and you are scarred for what you've done. You end up being killed in order to rebirth the horrible monster you've struck a deal with, and when your girlfriend finally wakes up she has no idea who you are or what you've done for her.

You should be feeling a little upset, right now. Try to imagine some empathy, you sociopath.

Missing the whole point

I know, I wanted a purple ending.

Dirty colormixing scum.

>horrible monster

Dormin was anything but. He was honest, upfront and upheld his end of the bargain, unlike the zealots that barged in and callously slaughtered Warden. Not to mention that they sacrificed a girl for no reason prior to that.

Wander.*

Not really, there are many people alive and fine in both demon's and dark souls, in dark souls it just looks like there are people alive but they actually have thousands of years and are almost going mad because of that, the situation of dark souls is irreversible and there's nothing you can do at all, while in demon's souls you can save the world and(almost) everyone in the nexus in the end of the day.

Why would i feel empathy over video game characters that have no development AS characters? Wow some dudes gf is asleep/dead/whatever and his horse died (lol not really)

What the fuck is there to be sad over? Killing a bunch of stone creatures?

...

You know you cant just add a bunch of flavor text and fluff to a plot synopsis and expect it to be emotional

Grezzo 2 gave me more feels than any game ever has.

>everything about the ending
>I'M ALWAYS SAD WHEN I'M LONELY

I wouldn't even say it was tearjerking kind of sad.

There was just suddenly nothing in me.

>You were the only good thing that ever happened to me, and all I ever did was kill you.
>I'm so sorry, I'm sorry!

same here, what was your favorite part?

...

God-tier taste, user

>in which the Bachelor regrets his affection for the living, and would very much prefer to like the dead

Ff9 made me cry a little at the end, but mostly because i was happy over vivi making a ton of vivis

Great ending

Somewhere, over the rainbow...

>hating on based purple

Kill yourself, your family, your pets, and your friends.

It wasn't your job to protect me inspector.

Just let Elisa through for me.

Cred Forums might laugh but I actually did feel a decently bleak atmosphere in that game. Dominic Santiago's's death was sad but executed poorly.

It had its own sense of humor, though. Marcus Fenix's voice actor (John DiMaggio) is hysterical and makes it impossible to enjoy Adventure Time or Futurama the same way.

Gears of War 2 was the best Gears game.

few games strike a chord with me but holy shit this one managed it

brad and buddy did nothing wrong

>tfw ending dissapointed me rather than make me sad
All the characters turning dumb in the last episode is not good writing

Metro series, Last of Us, I Am Alive.

Not too many exact replicas, though.

What I didn't like is everyone dying. It's hard to grow attachment to doomed characters. I could see Omid and his girflfriend dying in the opening of S2 from a mile away.

...

Holy shit that Film is a masterpiece i never hear anyone talk about it

What are some games with sadness that you got blindsided by?

Sell me on this game, user.

>brad did nothing wrong
>BUDDY did nothing wrong

...

half as long
twice as bright

Great game

>That scene where he almost shoots his son before the cannibals find them

Iirc if you read the newspapers you'll find that Bonnie eventually does get married, but it isn't stated to whom. Best you can hope for that it was not a marriage out of desperation

shit goes down on the planet, almost everyone is dead, you set out to look for someone to spend the last of your days, you spot this strange girl, but she is scared and runs away and now you gotta look for her because maybe she is the only other person alive in the planet

the athmosphere IMO is pretty good, gameplay is pretty meh, it does its job but nothing . You run around in abandoned enviroments, and try to find out why everyone died, you ocasionally encounter ghosts that tell you some interesting stories like when you find the ghost of a little girl and she asks you if you have seen her mother

Alright, sounds groovy: I need some slow burn atmosphere in a game these days.

Everyone he tried to protect died.

> Gets his wife and daughter killed in the first game.
> Gets his new love interest killed in the second game
> Gets a job to defend a family of a bunch of rich guys and a trophy wife. All of them are dead in less than a week after meeting him.

Death follows him. Becomes him. And he becomes death.

Hell followed with him.

Ico

He didn't get his wife killed, she was killed because her boss was a twat.

...

That ending got to me.

even then you did see it coming after the First time he sperged about being copied.
Writers block in effect.

A lot of the areas in Dragon's Dogma give me that lonely feeling since there aren't many people outside of Gran Soren and the starting village.
Game feels empty, but in a good way.

Deadly Premonition was hilarious and bizarre, so why'd the ending leave me so feeling so depressed?

The game that made me fell that was Twilight Princess.

How was that depressing?

believe me dude, if you can get into it the game is pretty fucking good, specially when the time to feel arrives. I used to play the game at night with headphones, I think that made it more memorable

also the song at the start is really motherfucking good

run well through Dolphin, or is some other emulator needed?

>tfw the big plot twist

that blew my mind the first time I played it.

youtube.com/watch?v=Xa_FMmPzSsQ

Too many memes

I can't really say, I played it on my wii, best bet is to try it out for yourself if you don't have the system, or if anyone here knows please let me know

Yeah, but they do at least sort of acknowledge that Simon's mind was subconsciously, avoiding the details of his artificial state to keep him from going insane.

What was going to happen was pretty obvious in the end, but the way that he coped with the situation through complete and utter denial in his need to keep moving forward, only for it to come crashing down on him, still managed to resonate with me.

Underrated.

That ending though.

Poor yorda being trapped and all of those poor sacrificed horned children and that ending
tears where in my eyes when Yorda and Ico got separated at the bridge

Selene is sad but best girl
I love her

Dr. Kaufmann was my favorite character in that one, honestly. He was really well-acted.

But they reunite on the beach. The spirits of the horned boys used the last of their essence to save Yorda.

>What seven-year-old actually knows who their parents are anyway?
>So she obsesses and obsesses over this fantasy dad, propping up her make-believe with scraps... scraps of a happy life that never was. Scraps of a father who never existed!
>WAKE UP!!

I agree. His last rant at Cheryl is among the best pieces of voice acting in a video game.

old kings field games. souls saga. old silent hills, old games in general

They just wanted to see the world...

It's still sad
and it's possible that the ending was just a dream and that they both really died or it was some type of afterlife and they could have died afterwards even if they where actually reunited i mean look at where there where

Michael McConnohie is absolutely my favorite voice actor of all time.

I didn't want to kill them

>buddy did nothing wrong

I still poke fun at Heavy Rain's mechanics and plot holes, but I still enjoyed the somber atmosphere, and the whole encroaching dread of the character's depressive situations overlapping with one another as the time limit to solve the mystery clicks away.

Movie is good, book was incredible

>Dad is fighting back the urge to cough as they're hiding from the cannibals
>Tells his son how to end it quick using his pistol since there's not enough bullets for the both of them and he'll be raped and eaten

Actually this for me

HR had some pretty interesting stuff going on, and it was a game where choices actually mattered... but to me it seems that someone didn't fully revise the script. It's like it is a second or third draft or something.

>Michael McConnohie
Did he have other notable roles? Loved him as Kaufmann.

he dindu nuffin

I know he also is Barry in RE Revelations 2, which means he revived old school Barry dialogue.

I Love the Atmosphere and Soundtrack youtube.com/watch?v=4gT6AnrDwew
It reminds me a bit of Texhnolyze

Pokemon super mystery dungeon games, especially sky

What said, as well as myriad other roles in video games and anime. Hell, he's even been around since the original Transformers TV show.

>saved the future
>you cease to exist
>your partner running away in tears trying to convince himself to not simply accept death and live on for your sake

Man that shit hit me pretty hard

That wouldn't have hurt.
Give Madison a role beyond dealing with creepers. Rework the killer's motivations a bit. Why he would want to shoot Ethan after passing his test baffled me.

But hey, at least it didn't pull an Indigo Prophecy.

twisted metal black

>bought this film years ago as a gift to watch with my father
>he hated every minute of it

yeah especially the bonus episodes, that shit was intense, idk how spikechunsoft does it but they manage to make stories better than anything gayfreak has made in the last 2 decades

Necromancer in Diablo 2 and Heroes of the Storm.

No one stops.

...

This game makes me so mad. It could have been so much better with more polish.

Can't bring myself to be a dick to Alistair.

>>Bonnie not getting John hurt the worst
shit thought i was the only one

Stalker + Misery ?
That's not depressing, that's masochism.

It'll all be alright
youtube.com/watch?v=3nDNr2qb3nM

With hope Space Hulk Deathwing will do well enough so they can make an ever better EYE 2

...like real life.

I thought season one Walking Dead was amazing. But the deaths in season two just frustrated me.

>Oh, that character you had a rocky start with before learning more about him and making the dramatic choice to save his life and look out for one another?
>Yeah he died off-screen
>Sorry about that

>everyone you save dies anyway

What game

Monster Hunter IV

Anubis was keeping the main character alive to go destroy the perfect cell
The perfect cell was the source of Anubis' power
Anubis no longer able to keep the main character alive
Before Anubis dies she grants the player character a final vision of an open ocean in the world above, letting him die in the land he saved rather than the collapsing cave

Man this game legitimately fucked me up.

>the surface of the world is dead, you live with a few friends in small village deep in the earth
>shit goes down and you must travel to the surface world to save everyone you love
>you revive the world step by step, along the way you will make friends, and you will watch those friends die
>your first love sacrifices herself to give you one more chance to live and fight
>after all that you save the world, and your only reward is
>Death
>thats the final step to completely bring the world back

After all that effort, to be told there would be no reward, nothing, your loved ones are dead and you will soon join them, thanks for the help fucker!

>mfw piles of dead white people

>the cute dark skinned girl that was your friend turns out to be a traitorous whore later

it's deppressing
Dead Rising 1 is the best

Is deadrisning 1 worth buying for the ps4? are there any changes? i'm feeling nostalgia just thinking about it i regret selling my xbox so much

All these mentions and remembering the games is making me depressed.

Looks like Neon Genesis Evangelion

>i regret selling my xbox so much
I wish i could get it back i was a idiot for selling it i had over 60 games and i had it for years and years it's what got me into gaming i wish i could get it back

considering how scarce good games are on ps4, I guess. its on PC as well now.

It's Hyper Light Drifter but yeah I see the similarities now that you mention it

Not the Third again...

Most have been mentioned already
Axiom Verge, I suppose.
Original War could be one, at a stretch

Not to mention making it possible so any of the others could be the killer.

I played this in middle school and I was still mostly pure back then. The game made me sick the further I went on. The ost was scary and terrible. I didn't even get the final ending back in the day but the other endings broke me and I was quiet at school for a couple of days.

PROBABLY SHOULD NOT HAVE PLAYED MATURE GAMES ABOVE YOUR AGE LIMIT

EVERY KID ON THE BLOCK HAD ACCESS TO RATED M GAMES BECAUSE NATE WAS 18
GTA didn't fuck me up so I thought nothing could.

This game was too annoying to enjoy.

I'd fuck you up KID

...

Please don't fuck kids.

I see where you're coming from, but I loved it.

My like is a depressing game that I want to stop playing

Fuck you, I cried

...

>like

I meant life, god I cant even get that right

Krill yourself.

I drop these games because I'm too fucking lonely and have no idea what I'm fighting for.

I can not be stopped, fruitboy.

...

CRAWWWLLIIINGGG IIIIIIIN MYYY SKIIIIIIIIINNNN

Oh wow. Thanks for mentioning that. I've spent the last 6 years thinking that she died alone.

Knowing the lore, and then fighting Gwyn while listening to that music is heat breaking. Just a shell of his former self giving up the last of his humanity to keep the age of fire.

Siberia got me going, I want to say The Longest Journey, however; fuck sweden.

Might check out gemini rue.

>Most bleak and depressing vidya.

I win.

That's like watching titanic though. If you don't know it's going to be a trainwreck you've been in a coma for more than a century.

>BIG NEW 3.0 UPDATE
>this game is popular enough to warrant not one but two updates big enough to add a new version number

...

>Finally gets an answers to all of the questions he's been plagued by for 3 years
>Will still never get to meet his former friend and partner face to face
>Sequel then has him about his daddy
>Learns just how much of a loving father he tried to be in the end

Christ, if they ever do a third game, Kyle's either going to wind up so bitter his bourbon gets burned by his mouth, or he'll finally settle with Rachel and stop leading such a lonely life.

When this is the first thing you see in a videogame, you know you're in for a ride

Please tell me Laurie isnt balding that badly

The Fallout series for me. How has it been 300 years and people still haven't got their shit together?

Shitty bethesda writing

The Long Dark.

It's a beautiful wonderful bleakness it creates.

If you're just been following Bethesda's Fallout series, then yeah its depressing.

Obsidian's New Vegas showed that civilization is pretty much back on its feet with tanks and VTOLs.

What about other countries? The bartender in 3 had an Irish accent but other than that, there's no indication that travel between continents is a thing anymore.
Besides, repairing relics from before the war is not the same as having the capabilities to produce new stuff.

The vast majority of the world was nuked to pieces but they were all starving war-torn countries before the nuclear exchange.

NCR has their own military production and can remake the NCR ranger combat armor and their own guns.

They are actually really damn close to a utopia if they can reach Sierre Mardre.Big MT and rediscover the matter fabricator tech.

Tetris

Some things in dark souls 3 where good and i really enjoyed it my first playthrough but afterwards on my second playthrough it just felt boring and i seen all of the flaws plus the pvp sucks and they ruined qwyndolin
anyone else feel the same?

This.

Mother is one hell of a feels coaster.

Also Zero and Zero Two from Kirby. What a sad existence.

He's been balding that badly for like 6 years now, man. It's all good though, he still looks great. Dude is so good looking.

You should watch The Mist

This ended up being a lot more fucked up than I expected.

>get to BBI
>figure it's just some ancient evil big baddy shitting things up
>slowly descending into the depths
>finding the little pieces of the story
>get to the abandoned town
>desolate, everything is dead
>the build up to the giant door
>finally see Daimon
>he just looks fucking sad
>he wants you to end his suffering
>learning the final piece of the story

Fuck man, that story coupled with the atmosphere and the soundtrack made me love Dragon's Dogma as a whole even more.

> he'd rather go hollow

Awe, the poor writer QT3.14.

She actually had skill too.

Look, just finish the game but don't get attached to anyone but your sister.

Just like IRL.

Nigga, you need to play The Second Episode.

It's no just about high school grillz getting cut the fuck up; there's a good story and plot. A warning though, the pre-war section is long as FUCK, has tons of characters and a bit tedious to get through but fight through it. Then once you've beat the game one, play through a second time for a ton of new perspectives/conversations/scenes/etc.

DO IT FAGGOT

Also, play The House in Fata Morgana and Crescendo.

Soma
Lisa
Mother 3 to an extent
Silent Hill
Mario party

I actually cried, I haven't even done the other endings yet. I don't think my heart can take anything like that again so soon and I feel like if I reload my save file more tears are to come.

I love Dragon's Dogma to Death it's a true Master Piece
youtube.com/watch?v=UcoLNTG1tTo

This game fucked me up. On some days even the silly whistling theme gets me melancholy.

The Last of Us

Metal Gear Solid IV Guns Of the Patriots

Well, that's good then. Maybe in another 300 years they'll have a competent civ again.

...

...

WHAT EVEN IS THIS GAME

> Greirat still isn't back from his third looting mission

I'm worried

One of the things that i liked about das3
Greirat is a good character

saddest ending

Came here to post this, gets me feeling somber whenever I even think about it.

youtube.com/watch?v=8N_PXTGdlGw

>Gets his wife and daughter killed in the first game.
No he doesn't

And the main "villain's" speech at the end is pretty depressing too, from his perspective.

It's an Eastern European mythical plague simulator.
play it

go on...

>that part with the two goats
>the zombie village
>meeting the lion in Neo-Tokyo again
>helping all the cities grow and develop and making friends all over
>Berugas gruesome death
>only you can escape the airship
>based Royd and Fida have to stay back
>that Cred Forums-tier Aussie on ayers rock waiting for the world to end
>that last normal day in the village

Ark fell into a deep sleep...and Ark dreamt his last dream...
It was a dream of becoming a bird and seeing the world grown older.

This image triggers me a lot for some reason but cant put my finger on what the reason is

I dont understand the Kirby boss one though so why is zero a sad existence?

>WHAT EVEN IS THIS GAME
Magical realism survival game set in pseudo-russian town struck by a supernatural plague.

It's a debut game of a studio that prides themselves in making games that have artistic merrits, which in their case however does not mean cheap moralisms and no gameplay.

Mechanically speaking it really is primarily a survival game with adventure elements - a lot of resource management, walking around, talking (Planescape tier levels of walls of text). Story-wise, it's... I think best comparisons can be drawn to Planescape in game world, and Kafka, Borges and Bulghakov in literature. It's heavy, filled with absurdity, philosophical problems and sad, tragically russian characters. It has some pretty unique and clever ways to tell it's story (the narrative is time-driven, meaning that events unfold over time rather than over space, it has three main characters witnessing the story at the same time meaning that you always get only a limited perspective on what is really happening, there is a lot of pretty heavy and clever choice-and-consequences) and the story itself is pretty clever too if you don't mind a lot of metaphysics and philosophy.

It's also soul-crushingly slow, depressing, bleak, frustrating, dark, clunky, and unfriendly to the player.

>Ice pick lodge games are depressing
You need to see the light anons.

>You need to see the light anons.
Even fucking CARGO! is depressing as fuck...
And that is a game literally about FUN.

>he doesnt read the manga :)

greatest thing about him is how you initially think he'll screw you over some how but he's right with you till the end.

bloodborne was pretty anime

>why wont you let me get raped
>I hope you die dad
nothing wrong

...

embrace your inner gay

>The ending they went with was just confusing and retarded.
>Ueda game
>confusing
No shit, it's supposed to be ambiguous and to leave a huge part up for interpretation.

>Also your horse not dying ruined anything sad there could have been in the game.
This is actually the moment when I cried. I found it incredibly sad when the girl wakes up in an empty land cut from the rest of the world. She doesn't even know what happens, and what Wander did for here.
The only trace left of Wander in the world is this horse and the fact that its hurt is the only possible link to Wander.

I don't know I just found the scene incredibly powerful. At the end you understand what it truly means to let go everything and sacrifice yourself for love.

Final Fantasy VII

Try rereading it.

pic very related

Both did a lot of things wrong

But they did just what they had to do so it was justified

Shitty and boring? Really? If you're going to b8 this badly you need to at least come up with something that can almost be considered truth.

>ctrl+f half life 2
>nothing
This game was so depressing that it made me depressed and I never want to play it.

>Anri of Astora and Horace the Hushed.

Every fuckin time

VN's count as games right?

...

this game put me to tears

this game makes me feel weird
the atmosphere of some locations is really heavy because of the lack of any kind of music
the hospital is spooky as fuck

What game is this?

There's already a English translated HD edition on steam. Is that what you're talking about

No, he is clearly talking about the actual remake of the game.
Which has recently been announced to be delayed until fall 2017. There should be a small stand-alone spin-off demo (actually a demo build for the last PAX show) thing released somewhere during the next year, first for alpha backers, later for general public.

While we are at it, I have not actually seen a SINGLE impression/review of the PAX demo ANYWHERE, which is driving me mad.

please stop

i'll go with this one then

For actual games, they've been said a dozen times each but The Void and LISA ooze depression out of every pore.

vampire: the masquerade - bloodlines

I wanna fuck Anna

the trailer was pretty interesting. Only played the demo though

only depressing thing about it is how you have no real choice

Thanks, user, knew it looked familiar.

>that ending

I don't know what to feel

Fuck.

This game never made me cry, infact, no game has, but that might be because something is just wrong with me.

But FUCK this game gives me the feels.

Especially when the little theme song tune of season 1 comes on.

>tfw literally everyone from season 1 is dead besides like 3-4 characters which we will most likely never see in season 3

Rule of Rose.
