What does the remaster adds exactly?

I am playing it for the first time. Only played bioshock inf before, this past spring

Its pretty fun you get more guns, but the ammo is still scarce as fuck. Maybe because im on the second to highest difficulty.

Aside from the updated graphics I think nothing, it does include all the released DLC so that's a good thing.

Babies's first system shock

I'm pretty sure ammo is supposed to be scarce in any difficult, it's a design choice, they added plasmids to the mix so they assume the player can know when to use which, like for example. no reason to waste ammo on a group of enemies standing on water when you can just use electro bolt to kill them all at once.

>never played Bioshock before
>picked up the trilogy
I'm going to start the first game tonight. I'm pretty excited, have no clue what to expect

Muh sekrit elite club
Kys

>have no clue what to expect

That's probably the best way to go into it, I'll give you a hint though, the first game rewards exploration a lot, so don't be afraid to explore.

i thought the remaster was the shit version? I never played the original pc port either

I never played any of the bioshocks DLCs. Are they any good?

Bioshock DLC is only stuff like new plasmids and tonics, it doesn't include any actual story content.

Achievements

Minerva's Den is great

DLCs for Infinite are also worth a playthrough if only for story reasons. Clash in the Clouds is a nice challenge dlc

>Playing 1 on the PC
>crashes every time I play, after about 5 minutes after loading up

Had to skip ahead to Bioshock 2. I always preferred it to 1 anyways.

I had forgotten how tedious hacking and the research camera were. Sure was glad they changed those in 2.

>>Playing 1 on the PC
>>crashes every time I play, after about 5 minutes after loading up

Try updating your drivers.

>second to highest
The absolute madman

It's just got the same shitty pc port problems as the original (pre-patch). Takes a couple minutes to google and implement the fixes

> GIGA

>try updating your drivers

You're the asshole that keeps posting that response on every troubleshooting thread I visit through google, aren't you?

I'm not having any problems

I don't know what else to tell you, it works fine on my PC, maybe try verifying the cache then?

Here's the megaupload link with the correct .dll files. Just click and drag them into your exe folder and everything will work.

Holy shit

The Challenge Rooms DLC from the PS3 version and the interactive museum were nice additions.

You aren't exploring much. By the second level it becomes a struggle to use everything you're picking up and make room to pick up more stuff you found while pursuing plot diaries.

The lack of an inventory system really hurts this game.

system shock is shit though

I fucking hated it.

You know a funny thing? Dead Space was originally supposed to be System Shock 3, but due to Bioshock's success, they made it into its own series, to avoid direct competition and turns out it has a fucking inventory and Bioshock don't. No excuse for this lame system.

>Game won't surrender the mouse
>Game crashes when loading the next area sometimes after you have have alt tabbed
>map takes at least half a second to load

Still having fun though

>Dead Space was originally supposed to be System Shock 3
>source: my ass

it's true, do your own research

WOW GOOGLE IS SURE HARD TO USE

>Hated every minute of Infinitie
>Played 2 a long time ago and gave it a hard time
>Pick it up again
>It's now fun and a challenge

Holy hell, I must've been blinded by 1's story too much when I played 2. I am literally having fun with how stream lined and fluid the combat is in this game. The weapons, the enviorment, the plasmids, and just the enemy AI is far more fun to fight. I will day that I wish they re-introduced the shock splicers from 1. The story is still eh compared to 1 though.

I envy you bub really. Don't lurk threads and get spoiled if you haven't already.

Did you actually check those links? None of them actually prove that Dead Space was actually System Shock 3, but nice try.

2 is also a lot more linear than 1, which is basically my only grip with it.

here you go.

2 is more linear but has amazing vertical level design

The story is better then 1.

>playing through Bioshock 1 for the first time back in 2007
>wait a minute, this story
>it's gonna pull the same twist as in SS2 isn't it?
>it did

fuck me if it didn't disappoint me. Levine is a hack.

Why? Was Bioshock 1's story too confusing for your baby brain?

>confusing
what

it's incredibly simple

>"I have the sandwich, therefore there is no world hunger"

1 has a good story but 2 emotionally resonated with me more with Elanor.

It was more personal and I prefer that.

The only objectively terrible thing about 2 is Lamb, the way they shoehorned her into the lore of Rapture was bullshit. Andrew Ryan allowing this woman preaching about religion and collectivism is retarded.

didn't she rise to power after his death?

no, she even discusses with Ryan in Bioshock 2, I agree with the one you quoted, Sofia feels like she doesn't belong in there

While 2 had gameplay advancements, I can't shake the feeling it felt rehashy. A lot of the new things aren't that great, big splicers and big sisters were just bullet sponge versions of existing stuff.

The whole idea of turning the player into a big daddy is retarded, mechanically he's exactly like the player character of Bioshock 1, but then you grow stronger than other big daddies yet you're a prototype? I don't know, it just felt retarded to me, part of Bioshock was to be a normal person in a bizarre world and you were just injecting shit into yourself to survive I think it was just a bad idea

Fired Bioshock 1 Remaster on day of launch only to find resolution fucked up and didn't wanna play. Fired it up the next day and resolution was magically fixed. Got to the point when YOUR GENETIC CODE IS BEIN' RE-WRITTEN and had strange glitch squares on Jack's left hand, then game crashed. I thought it was a fitting moment for it to do so.

she was in prison until Ryan died.

>Jack
>normal

He was 3 year old with the body of a 30 year old and the strength of a gorilla, he wasn't normal.

you only figure this shit out way late in the game, at first you think you're just some poor faggot who fell from a plane and stumbled into this bizarre place

I've been trying survival mode but honestly I haven't really enjoyed it that much. It pretty much turns the enemies into destiny bullet sponges.

You finding out later doesn't negate the fact.

>Sixty dollars

Makes me sick.

>You aren't exploring much

but i am,
I often stay from progressing with the main plot for the sake of looking at everything in the area

It's not too bad to be honest, just get wrench jockey and abuse it whenever possible, but that boss spider splicer was the epitome of bulletsponge though.

You forgot the new challenge maps. The arena was pretty cool.

Ryan was sincere in his convictions, he expected Lamb's movement to dissolve in the face of rational, self-interested parties given freedom to choose. He didn't go full hypocrite and start seizing assets and censoring people until he was clearly losing his own game to Fontaine, just two years before the war.

Would you kindly?

have you tried restarting your PC?

Sent from my iPhone 7 using Clover

I gave up on survivor when I played it back on ps3. It was too bullshit for me. Enemies are aimbots enough as it is but having them be walking tanks along with that is too much.

Anyone else realizing that this game isn't nearly as good as you thought it was? I'm playing on hard and I have like max most things already. I should have never played SS2 because the gameplay in BS just lacks substance in comparison.

and by max most things I mean like ammo and med kits and eve hypo. I even have vita chambers turned off so there's some incentive to not just attack stuff with the wrench. Why did they take out the inventory? It just plays so simply without it, takes away a lot of the tension and sense of place in the game.

>not buying them during the last steam sale

Always took it as some shallow mass market rehash of System Shock with a few examples of cute level design.

I don't think the coming playthrough is going to convince me otherwise one way or the other.

Just finished in in one sitting. Took me about 8 hours.

I played Bioshock originally straight after SS2, because I heard it was like a successor to it. I fucked up

It's legitimately the coolest setting in any video game ever. It's just such a shame that the gameplay is legit just dumbed down SS2. Which is dumbed down SS1 so I've heard but I just cannot get into that game.

I'm playing on Survivor with no Vita Chambers for that trophy. Any tips?

strong bait, friendo

play in a well lit room and take regular breaks

I don't get how they managed to fuck up the sound in the remaster. It has all the bugs from the original plus a few more, and they touched up the graffix, but what did they do/or not do to mess with the sound ?

will Daddies attack me after I hypnotize them?

How do you get in that upstairs room in Sanders' apartment? Do you have to fuck up those two splicers dancing to get him to back home to wreck you? Pretty sure there might be a power to the people up there but I don't remember.

It only lasts for a while.

Yes and yes

if you didn't kill him back in Fort Frolic, you just kill the couple and he comes down to fight you.

He's a hodini splicer.

and you're right, there's a Power to the People station up there.

there's also a secret trophy for taking a picture of his corpse.

These remakes look the same to me. I mean, the textures are updated, slightly. Why does no one update things that actually matter? I guess that would take effort.

Alright, thanks. Didn't know about that secret trophy either. Nice.

Anyone else playing the Survivor difficulty on Bioshock 1? Ammo is less common and plasmids use up more Eve.

Yeah, I beat it once on PS3 and now I'm trying again on PS4.

The beginning is the hardest part, once you establish yourself with a crossbow and sufficient research things are easier to manage.

You still have to stay on your toes though.

Shit is especially hard when you also turn off Vita chambers.

I used to "speedrun" Bioshock back in the day so it's nice to kind of slow down for once.

I swear it reads which weapons you upgrade and spawns less of that ammo

Feeling the same way. I initially went into it with the autistic goal of trying to unlock all the achievements and then quickly decided fuck it I just want to play the game again. Actually remember a surprising amount of the game even though it's been years since I played it last, and it's one of the very few games I played through completely 2 times and I'm aiming for a third now. Probably going to move on to Bioshock 2 once I'm done.

I played through and loved System Shock 1 and 2 when they were new but god damn it Bioshock is a really satisfying shooter. Even though BS2 is better mechanically it lost a little of the satisfaction due to losing the great weapon reloading animations and jabbing eve needles into your arm.

That's pretty lame if that's true.

I like Infinite.

AMA.

The carbine is super satisfying to use.

Just beat the first Bioshock and clocked out at 10 hours

It's not that impressive in length, but it's certainly better than the 6 hours most modern games give us

You played on easy didn't you user?

>not going survivor
>not 100%ing all trophies in one play through.

Why?

i liked it the entire time i played it despite wanting to hate it so i have nothing to ask you

You're one of those retards who only reads the headlines, aren't you? If you vote I swear to god I'm going to chop off your head and write a headline that reads "Headless voter scares people away from polling location"

I don't understand why Bioshock receives so much praise. 1 & 2 are decent games but aren't incredible like everyone says they are.

1 was pretty amazing for its time.

Normal

I never died the entire playthrough, but I admit I savescumed a little

but that's wrong

Let's fucking do this mang

...

>pirate Bioshock 2
>remember why I hated Bioshock 1
>uninstall after 10 minutes
Such a shitty FPS. Movement feels like shit, the guns feel like peashooters...

I've played a fair bit of system shock 2, and the assets all end up looking the fucking same, so you'll turn around and go "wait where the fuck am I again'. That being said, in Bioshock 1 and 2 I constantly felt myself wishing for more city to explore. I just finished my play-through of 2, saving all big sisters and doing all of their gatherers, and it only lasted me 12 hours.

I'm eager for the "remake", and I'm going to give it another try.

...

Why have they removed the textures reflecting some of the light?

...

>saving big sisters
Oh. If only.

>starting weapon is secretly the best weapon in the game

I love it when games do this

shelley = audrey > laura >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> donna > nadine

Oh boy does it get worse

Watch this comparison. Here's the original...

>and the assets all end up looking the fucking same, so you'll turn around and go "wait where the fuck am I again'.
it's a military spaceship you would expect corridors and cargo bays to look the same. My favorite thing about System Shock 2 is the layout and scale of the ship, it feels it could be completely realistic. Bioshock feels like a corridor shooter to me instead of a real setting which is a large reason why I didn't like it as much.

Here's the remaster

Every playthrough I get as many wrench upgrades I can. Especially the lurking one.

...

it's a shame because lighting is one of the most noticeable things in making games look good

wew

I played through the BioShock at the beginning of the summer on PC and it really isn't a "good" game. This is not to say it's bad, just not very good. The story and setting are great, the gameplay is what's terrible. I haven't played bioshock 2, but Infinite was GOAT

it's a military spaceship you would expect corridors and cargo bays to look the same

Fun fact buddy. I work daily in a military ship, and a BIG one at that. Most areas are distinct looking.

Don't make excuses for bad technology, or lazy artistic design.

You'd probably like Bioshock 2.

...

What happens if you turn off bloom?

...

ugh. Why the fuck did they do this?

that one is a big improvement, the old one looked like he came straight out of Team America's cast

...

Each deck of the ship in SS2 is highly distinctive. But when you have a cargo bay deck it should be hardly be surprising that the four cargo bays present there have the same layout and design.

brunette laura > audrey > blonde laura = norma = shelly >>>>> donna

...

...

Good god, you have poor taste. Infinite is pretty much the definition of soulless boring AAA garbage

So they made the hands smaller and the HUD larger? Or is that just resolution changes

...

>But when you have a cargo bay deck it should be hardly be surprising that the four cargo bays present there have the same layout and design.

Let's say you have "four cargo bays". They will not have the "same layout and design". This isn't a office building that's sitting on the ground and has water/fuel/air/coolant lines running into the ground and then away from the building. This is a space-faring vessel that is completely self-housed. As such even 4 storage rooms will have vastly varying shapes and ways that they are accessed due to design concessions so that the systems that ensure the life of the vessel can run unhindered.

Can't you just admit that you're wrong?

There's an enhanced FOV option.

The HUD scales properly with resolution now.

this fucking bait

My apologies, I didn't know I was conversing with a spaceship engineer.

...

Fuck, I guess the remaster is garbage.

Wall texture and toy soldiers are way better in the original. Blocks look worse in the remaster

It's an opinion, the very definition of subjective. I liked the storytelling and pacing better in Infinite and the combat was greatly improved.

You know there is an issue when regular splicers take 4 shotgun blasts to go down in Bioshock on medium difficulty and that's not even mentioning the ridiculous enemy re-spawning. The game just got tedious at that point.

...

...

...

...

>pacing
Infinite doesn't have anything except the most mechanical pacing, retard. In Bioshock the pacing is naturally embedded in the game.

Infinite's enemies were way more bulletspongy than Bioshock's. You're clearly playing it wrong. Too stupid to use powers, upgrade weapons, or lay traps for big daddies?

>boot up system shock out of love for bioshock
>control scheme has s for crouch, x for backwards
>can't change it
>uninstall

...

You're not much of a PC user if you can't even figure out how to get around that

...

...

i remember enemies in Bioshock 1 got some plasmid that gave them jacked-up HP towards the end of the game. made crossbow headshots the only quick way to kill splicers, really annoying

...

Big daddies were a fucking joke. They go down easy with limited preparation with the exception of that first rosie you take down. The real issue is the regular splicers taking ridiculous amounts of bullets to go down even with max upgraded weapons like the shotgun. Literally four blasts from maxed out shotgun to take down splicer at point blank range. Dumber than fuck mechanic. Every fight becomes a chore when you have to plant traps and utilize the retarded hacking system to battle a handful of splicers. The splicers are also dead eye cocksuckers.

Infinites enemies weren't bullet spongy at all minus the automatons and the murder of crow douches.

Yes I find around Apollo Square their HP suddenly skyrockets, especially for nitro splicers

Turbo powered wrench also does the trick

...

maybe that was my mistake. I rarely utilized the wrench or its perks outside of the games beginning area.

...

Does it include the PS3 exclusive plasmids?

>play bioshock 1
>awesome game
>play bioshock 2
>a pretty solid sequel
>play bioshock infinite
>an incoherent fucking mess that brutally destroys all the reality that past games created

What happened?

>Antialiasing
>On

Levine scrapped the game a few months before it was to release and hastily cobbled together the shitfest we got instead. Then he complained about all the Elizabeth porn.

Well there's lots of things which buff the wrench like a 50% damage gain from researching thuggish splicers and the bloodlust tonic which leeches health and eve with each blow

If anyone is interested in how health changes the wikia indicates this for a nitro splicer

400 (Medical Pavilion)
300 (Neptune's Bounty)
1200 (Fort Frolic)
1500 (Olympus Heights and Apollo Square)

Yes. PC did actually get them on an old patch as well but the cost was set at 1 ADAM back then. Now it's more like 80 each.

I didn't kill the little sisters either. That probably made the game a bit more difficult, although I don't remember enough adam bonuses to boost weapon attacks.

...

Nah saving the sisters is more advantageous overall. It's just that harvest takes a slide ADAM lead till around mid game I think.

Wait a minute.. those curtains

mods are cancer that are killing video games

...

which ones were exclusive??

killing them gives you a disadvantage

>comparing the full game maps of system shock and system shock 2 to small portions of Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite.

>play a game that was released over 15 years ago
>it's awkward compared to modern games
>don't fix it using the open platform power of the PC
I'm sure you were joking though

that image is clearly bait

The Bioshock museum also contains some interesting things

This was apparently their first design for "Gatherers" which eventually evolved to Little Sisters

Every Infinite map looks like that. They're shit. The Bioshock level design is good.

I wouldn't mind harvesting those things.

Aren't those in Bioshock 2 or something?

>save the little sisters for once in a recent playthrough
>get the sappiest ending I've ever seen

What was I thinking?

...

You do find the sea slugs from which you harvest ADAM in the ocean segments of Bioshock 2
Here's their original Splicer concept

I love that ending. It's sappy but I feel it's worth the trouble of saving all of them.

>get through BS1 remastered without any game breaking bugs
>start up 2
>no sound

bravo 2K

Important question here Cred Forums.

Does this remaster REMOVE anything from the original games?

Don't feel the bad, the game savescums for you with those pods

besides graphics, no

As far as I can tell so far only multiplayer for Bioshock 2 is gone

>ocean segments

What do those look like in the remaster?

I remember those sections impressing me back on PS3.

Well I just started Bioshock 2s remaster but I might have a comparison shot here. This is the original game

So far Bioshock 2s remaster seems like an improvement in every way (except removing multiplayer)

Remaster, best shot I have

If you have additional mouse buttons, binding mouse 4 or mouse 5 can also cause crashes.

It does still keep all of the particles I probably need a better comparison shot

Nigger, what?

The only reason I bought Bioshock was because the trailers and interviews said/showed I could kill little girls.

Then they fucking pussed out and didn't even show me doing it.

They could have blacked the screen out but had the little girl scream "NO PLEASE STOP!" and then you hear some squishy sounds or something but they pussed out big time.

I killed every little sister ever, forever.

Looks like you two were wrong. I guess I'm just going to buy the other two games for my PS3 instead. They are much cheaper anyways.

Are you using an injector for the original? the image looks incredibly soft at times

...

On a related note it looks like in the remaster they intentionally made this room (probably the only room in the game) darker because it has corpses of Little Sisters.

That TV used to light up most of the room

>click the icon
>game crashes and my screen crashes
>whole pc locks up and have to restart

glad I pirated this

...

I'm the same guy

When you say removed I think of content. Many lighting effects are gone but the only actual game content they removed was multiplayer from bioshock 2

You do not want Bioshock 1 for PS3. Trust me on that. It is absolutely the worst possible version of Bioshock 1

nigga I played this game 3 times and never saw this room

where was it?

Olympus Heights, Mercury Suites. I think it's on the second floor of that area

Here's what it looked like in the original game

I don't recall ever seeing this room but that's pretty fucking metal.

How is it edgy?

They were pushing the envelope of vidya as a medium by giving us morally/ethically difficult decisions to make.

Then they got some backlash and pussed out.

kek, artistic integrity.

Like how they added in women soldiers into Black Ops 3.

It was nice to be able to kill women since they claim they want to be able to fight on the front lines so fucking badly.

YOu guys should listen to the old Irrational podcast made by Shawn elliot, its really interesting and has a lot of little facts about Bioshock
The player is broken on the irrational website but its still on iTunes
itunes.apple.com/ie/podcast/irrational-podcasts/id350164614?

The ones called Irrational Behavior are the ones you want

>You do not want Bioshock 1 for PS3. Trust me on that. It is absolutely the worst possible version of Bioshock 1

Explain? There's a double pack that is super cheap for a long time and I never got to play 2 or Infinite yet. I kind of don't care for Infinite though because I hear it's so bad.

>to kill or not to kill little girls
>morally/ethically difficult
As he said, edgy as fuck.

why couldn't we rape them? I uninstalled and sent hundreds of emails to levine and 2k asking for a rape patch.

The game is stuck in normal mode every time I play, I'm guessing everyone has the same problem but doesn't care about difficulty?

shitting on infinite has become a circlejerk on Cred Forums

it's not as good as 1 but it's a fun ride with a beautiful setting.

and I don't know what that guys talking about, I played Bioshock 1 on PS3 just fine. It ran better then I thought it would.

Have a read through this
eurogamer.net/articles/analysis-bioshock-ps3-1-10-released

So pretty low framerates. The whole thing was an abomination at launch, I remember the absolute shitstorm that occurred. It also had massive load times but they may have fixed them. The resolution is only 680p.

The benefit if you can call it that is you get Survivor difficulty and the challenge rooms.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Enjoy having less upgrades.

babys first shooter really, shit is more casual than halo

speaking from experience, they fixed most of that.

I kek'd hard; my sides hurt.

A man chooses; a slave obeys, nigger.

> you were around this site long enough to see Cred Forums go from hating this game to loving it
this game is less than half the game of system shock 2 underage reddit please leave.

I liked infinite way better than 1, but i really didn't care for 1.

System Shock is literally casual pandering garbage. Lowest common denominator trash.

A real gamer would make his own video game and play it.

>Alt tab from game
>Come back
>Black screen
>Press escape
>Game running but the screen is still black

I'm just going to get the ultimate rapture edition. I'll pick up Infinite if I can find it separately for cheap. I game on a budget now.

Just pirate the game for PC

Even Infinite runs well on shitty computers

I think that version has exclusive bonus content or something too.

It contained the museum level for concept art and early game models

but the remasters all contain that now as well

oh I see.

Might as well just pirate the PC version then.

I'll pirate Infinite. I like physically owning certain games. Bioshock 1 is a game I liked a lot so owning both games sounds good to me. There's just some games out there where I just got to own them. I also like taking the journey of driving to the store to pick up a game I want in my mini collection.

Not all games are worth owning so for those I do not mind pirating at all t b h with you.

The only new thing it adds is developer commentary for the first game

I thought the story in 2 was meh my first time through, but 2nd time I liked it a lot more. I think it's pretty good tbqh.

Overall 2 >1

Infinite is a complete mess.

same, I like Physical copies too.

Are the audio clips from people at higher bitrate?

Probably

Most modern games use uncompressed sound and it's the main reason why they take up so much storage

They actually might be

Bioshock 1 definitely had clearer audio for dialogue this time which is just as well because Karl Hanover fucking mumbles all the time
