I honestly don't mind all the changes the series has gone through over the years and I dig GTAV a lot (It's probably my second favorite honestly) but man I miss in the older games when I'd just drive a car until it was on fire and then jump out while it flew into traffic setting off a chain reaction. You have to admit the TIHYDP of GTA3, VC and SA are comfy as h*ck.

I really enjoyed the physics in GTAIII, VC, and SA. And while the new physics they got in IV and V are more realistic I feel like they're less fun to fuck around with as well. Don't really play GTA for the realism, at times it feels like I'm taking part in some over the top B crime movie. Every body was an asshole and no one had a sob story to make them "relatable" or "understandable". Sure IV and V are fine games but the tone feels different, like I'm sorry Niko but I don't really care about you being an immigrant and having shit be so hard in the old country and so hard for you to adapt. Like him going out and shooting up everybody doesn't seem in character for Niko while for someone like Tommy it does. Shit, I've rambled too much about nothing.

It only has two missions, which are The Introduction and The Party, mind you. But it does have a lot of side stuff like races and base defending that are really fun, along with all VC cars, peds and the map itself. Radios too. The name is Vice City Rage.

It's why Vice City is where the series peaked for me.
you spend so much time driving, the driving has got to be fun, and realistic isn't fun. I loved how Vice City's streets and intersections were wider than IRL, and the long straightaways always terminated in a slow arcing 90, not a hard turn. it was very arcade and video-gamey.
SA brought hills and tighter corners and more realistic handling. it's impressive from a technical standpoint, but not really fun.

Soundtrack was so great in that game.

3 was only good back when it was released, Vice City is still great.

Same with GTA 4 which was great for the time. but 5 blows it out of the water and is a game I can see myself going back to 5 or even 10 years from now.

The camera is beyond fucked in the PC release, for whatever reason left and right are fine, but up and down are both super sensitive.

It really depends on the game you want to mod.
If we're talking GTA though, I'd say pretty easy because most of the stuff is in plain text files, also by now we've got all kinds of tools like map editors, archive managers and shit like that so you could basically use the GTA engine to make an entirely new game.
Then again there are other PC games in which you can't mod anything aside from making shitty texture edits

I would love a GTA with a lot more content in the country side. I loved the whetstone stuff in San Andreas and the first time you play Trevor in the desert in GTA 5. For some reason the redneck stuff, the dirt races and the generel atmosphere outside the city appeals a lot more to me.
