I believe you will find this dramatically improves the end-user experience and increases user engagement with the site and drives up revenue.

You'll notice the large majority of the complaints are about people posting shit on the wrong board.

Make moderators actually do their fucking jobs properly. No changes need to be made to the rules. We just need public bans so the knuckle dragging masses know when something isn't allowed. They don't read the rules in the first place, so they need to SEE the rules being enforced.

Put more of the memes on OP auto-sage. I can understand people memeing up a dead or dying thread, but there are some major red flags which almost guarantee a shit thread.

I would recommend keeping the list intentionally short, both to make it more manageable and because a little distraction is fine, but when it repeatedly floods the board it just needs to be flushed.

I would say that there should be a "soft rule" that Pokemon threads go to /vp/. I say a "soft rule" because when a new Pokemon game gets announced or features on a Nintendo Direct, then we can expect some Pokemon threads on Cred Forums and that is entirely reasonable. However, after a few days we still get threads about every shitty rumor and dozens of threads with "Name my Pokemon!" which clearly should just be shoved into /vp/ as quickly as possible. I don't want to stifle game discussion, but seriously, /vp/ was made entirely to contain all the people who wanted to share their Pokemon playthrough with a board.

Barneyfagging should be a sitewide autoban. Make it easy to just ban anyone acting like Barneyfag. Set up the ban length to be just under the minimum time that allows for an appeal, so that people getting banned this way don't bother the piss out of moderators with appeals. Barneyfag is considerably annoying and while it might not stop him, it will probably eliminate a few people imitating him. Half the problem there is everyone responding to the Barneyfag bait.

Honestly, the largest problem is just people not making any decent threads. I made a decent Dragon Quest 4 thread yesterday and not only did it get decent discussion, but the other DQ4 thread that started with shitposting had a decent discussion in it as well. The users generate the content, and if everyone is just busy jerking off to the latest DoA thread or whining about shitposting, then of course you don't see any decent threads.

I mean what do they do? What's the difference between shitposting from a phone and shitposting from a computer?

My recommendation to you was to seek educated opinions offline. I said certain forums exist for proper discussion, but to join them one would basically need a degree, a researcher status or some other qualifications. Peace.

It's not ""x person has an opinion and they made x game", it is "x game has political elements or political agendas that express a political message which is part of the vidya".
