Was No Man's Sky the pinnacle of release hype deflation?
>Sony marketed the game as a flagship, full price, AAA product >Sean frequently made promises about features >The media hyped it as the second coming of Christ for space exploration >Was the best seller on Steam for weeks before release >So many normies worshiped them on Twitter and Reddit
Then it released.
>Bugs everywhere >Gameplay was boring and shallow >Concurrent player count exponentially dropped to near-nothing after only a week or two >Hello Games Twitter account has been inactive since August 27th. >Sean Murray's Twitter account has been inactive for an entire month >Even normies almost universally turned on them
Will we ever see such a massive failure again in our lifetimes?
Worst part is that no one will actually learn from this and instead go straight at preordering the next hyped game.
Jose Mitchell
It will get a remaster 3 years from now and everyone will eat it up.
Nicholas Reed

Grayson Murphy
Hopefully! Always gives me a good chuckle to see normies getting robbed their monies.
Jaxon Walker
Even Sony hates it

>even Sony was baited into believing the game would have MP
Jayden Bell
It doesn't? Murray even said on his twitter that on the first day of release people met each other on stream. That can't be just made up
Luke Johnson
You weren't here when "We're in the same place in the same system and can't see each other" hit the fans?
There's no multiplayer. At all.
Chase Butler
I just wish people would learn their fucking lesson over this. But they won't.

I just checked his twitter, he hasn't posted anything in a month. Did he flee to a remote island with all the cash he scammed?

LOL why are they even still there? Looking at all of the threads about people "enjoying the games" makes me sick. Fucking sonyggers.
Levi Nguyen
>Retards buy into hype, order collector edition of game >Game is shit >I learned my lesson >Turn around and go pre-order the next hyped game
Jose Harris
NMS is proof Cred Forums and leddit will go on about pre-ordering being for cucks then do it anyway due to 'DUDE HYPE XD;
Owen Campbell
No, because Spore was released before it.
Carter Martinez
it wasnt hype. it was just straight lies.
Jordan Green
I think the worst thing is people forcing themselves to like it, to prove some point???
Nolan Bell
Spore wasn't nearly as hyped, let's be real.

Maybe not quite as much as NMS but the Spore hype was real. Especially because of how long it took them to actually release the game.
Levi Torres
Reddit has such a shitty post layout
I don't know how anyone can use it
Chase Long
Feels good to have not bought this shit game.
Nathaniel Bell
What the fuck were they even doing when making the pc port? Smoking dope and buying coke from all that money?
Ayden Jenkins
I mean this is a case where the developer just straight out lied about features, he didn't deliver subpar features, he outright lied about their existence.
Wouldn't be surprised if they actually got sued for it.
Evan Brooks
its made for phones, where 90% of its posters are

Not even mods can make this game worth playing for more than 3 hours. I'm ashamed that I even wasted time pirating this shit.

Only pre-order games with a proven track record that you have concrete data on.
For Forza Horizon 3 we have a full car list, full map, full soundtrack list, and gameplay for days.
People pre-ordered NMS on nothing but promises and brief bits of gameplay.
Ian Parker
>sweetie pie
Bentley Bennett
but guys its BIG
Jayden Butler
I'd argue to not preorder even in your case. It's not like there's a shortage of video games ever and with the prevalence of digital downloads you don't even have to worry about getting it day one (implying a physical order would even get to you on day one, I think Amazon supports this maybe but probably not always reliable).
The only real reason I can see for a preorder is to get some kind of preorder bonus, but preorder bonuses are anti-consumer garbage and typically amount to worthless garbage after the novelty wears off.
Brandon Garcia
>that fucking rich retard who paid 2k$ just to get the game 2 weeks earlier Is he contemplating suicide?
Juan Murphy
If he has so much money that he can drop 2k on something so stupid, I imagine he doesn't care.
Or maybe he was just a child who borrowed his mom's credit card, in which case his death would be murder instead of suicide.
Nathan Morgan
Forza is fair choice, and has good reviews. Still hilarious when people buy games that everyone know is terrible because "Can't trust reviewers, only my opinion has any value" and then come back crying when they realise how much money they wasted.
Hunter Powell
In my case I want to preload and shit. If early reviews come out and trash it I can always cancel.
Samuel Flores
It could be worse. He would be paying 18k for a jpg of a ship.
John Stewart

Dominic Perez
I still don't know what they wanted to accomplish by making a galaxy so much bigger than the actual, real galaxy when the real thing is already too big to ever explore in a videogame
Were they trying to one up Elite: Dangerous? Were they trying to sell exclusively to retards who didn't quite grasp that they'd never see even the tiniest fraction of the game?
Xavier Martin
But then you have to rely on prerelease reviews, and we all know that reviews of these kinds are meaningless trite due to the shitty opinions of the mainstream gaming media and the influence of money.
Kayden Cox
I first saw the reveal for this game watching E3 on my PS4 in 2014. Since then I have been counting the days. From the very first moment I started playing it lived up to my every expectation. The game is exactly what I saw in the gameplay Sean Murray demonstrated. If anything, it's more. For me, the idea of wandering an endless series of planets, scanning and naming them and the plants and animals thereon, and then taking off and moving to a new one was thrilling! But there's even more to it then that. I've been dismayed at what appear to be a bunch of typically "hardcore" gamer types who are used to getting a game and powering through it to maximum levels and then lording it over the universe the game creates. That actually doesn't work in this type of game, in no way, shape or form. The keening, whining, raging and crying from entitled manchildren was immense. From shit talking about the actual mechanics of journeying, critical to the casual style and tone of the game, to whining about the lack of a clear ending or point at which I imagine they could be dominant, or multiplayer (so they could show off to their buddies or measure themselves against them I guess) they could not seem to connect that this game was not the same as all the others they had played before. Raining hate everywhere, including spamming review sites with how "boring" the game was, when they spent no time on planets, simply mining and running. Meanwhile I have already spent close to 100 hours in the game and while I have discovered and named 5 systems and multiple planets, I backtracked to to my home world to make sure I 100% discover it and plan on doing that for each planet in each system I have discovered going forward before moving forward on the Atlas path. This game can last a lifetime if you let it, enjoy it, savor it. But if you have no imagination, or are a "hardcore, elite gamer" look elsewhere...this game is NOT FOR YOU! Got it Cred Forums?
Gavin Rivera
You would know why he did it and if he regretted it or not if you read anything into you fucking monkey moron.

They were, just like every studio they keep using buzzwords for their PR campaign >What's this game about? >Well it's AWESOME of course, you can do anything! >B-but what do you actually do in the game? >Look at those pre-rendered trailers, looks great!
Well, do what you want to do. If you have to preorder a game then it sounds like you've got the best scenario.

Those fucking textures...

I remember that thread. The guy who originally posted this said he wouldn't be surprised if there were groups dedicated to scientifically studying nms planets and animals lmao

3D gaming is also pretty good at that >3D will change EVERYTHING >Maximum immersion, everything will be better And then 3D came out and died right away, just to be replaced by a new meme >VR will change EVERYTHING

this
There was a guy or girl there that created god tier mods for the game. A good and big work just so people can actually enjoy the game. But sadly you cannot fix a shit game with just that Everyone stop giving a fuck about the game and so the modders stopped working on mods

He's getting sued for a different reason instead.

When does FFXV release again??

Isn't it proceduraly generated? How can people meet in the same spot? Or was it that they generated settings for 18kkkkk planets and that's all?

what movie is this?
Cooper Gray
Hi there. Longtime lurker, first time poster. Can I be real for a second? This community is fucking atrocious right now. You're all acting like a bunch of whiny, entitled little babies. A tiny team of people made an entire universe for you to explore. They made it for YOU, and they're going to wake up tomorrow morning and see that instead of enjoying it, this community of "fans" picked out the 3 or 4 things that weren't perfect and are using that to fucking riot. Guess what? The game was never going to be perfect. It was never going to live up to your hype. It was never going to be everything you'd ever want in a game. What it WAS going to be was an impossibly big universe filled with mysteries and weird shit. I just played it for 2 hours and it was exactly that. What more do you want? Is it buggy? Sure. Is it repetitive? Maybe. Is the inventory system imperfect and the multiplayer feature questionable and the structure unclear? Sure, fine. But holy shit what do these people OWE YOU? How fucking entitled do you have to be to explore an infinite universe in a spaceship and then say "yeah but..." We should all be fucking weeping in our chairs right now at the sheer size and scale of the achievement. We should be showering the people behind this thing with the praise they deserve for pulling off one of the most inspiring games in recent memory. Hello Games doesn't owe you the world. Yet they gave you 18 QUINTILLION of them. If you have the fucking audacity to complain about it then you don't deserve it and you were never fans in the first place.
Matthew Lee
Pretty sure everyone have seen this at this point
Thomas Phillips

Evan Jones
So what the fuck is this ending? You will end up in literally the same galaxy everytime you "finish" the game.
Camden Gonzalez
I agree with you on this. Its like 2-3 people spent 3 weeks creating an animation demo to later show prospective employers.
Daniel Kelly
When you reach the centre the next galaxy you get sent to has a new seed. Realistically though it'd be almost identical to the galaxy you came from because the procedural engine is so repetitive. Either way I doubt many people kept playing for long after the "supa secret in the centre" turned out to be even more of a disappointment than the rest of the game.
Joseph Cooper
Creative Assembly has a good track record too, but do you remember Rome 2?
Shit was hyped and guess what? Bugs everywhere, instead of improving upon mechanics from Shogun they instead took mechanics away to cater to casuals and the A.I was beyond retarded.
Dominic Martin
There's a lot of this shit. Dark Souls 2, Dragon Age 2, MGS V (arguably) etc. Preordering is generally not a good idea anymore
Carson Cook
Difference is that there are people with the full game putting footage up online. People have the discs. Sure they're only contractually allowed to show 30 minutes of footage total, but it's the full game. If something was busted, we'd know by now.
Robert Perry
In fact some people have posted an hour of footage.
Any Game where a major publisher like Sony and its Studio president wash their hands off a title just proves how much of a catastrophic failure it is I.E. No' man's sky.
Sean Murray had to hire a PR group to delete comments and "Correct the record" to promote a positive but biased image. Nu males from game review sites are openly trying to defend this bad game either because it taints their already shitty "indie dev" clique or sean murray has told them to help with damage control.
None of it is working and steam threads are being locked and deleted instantly or after certain amount of days. Sean Murray is really a cuck, he should just do the right thing and come out clean to the community and the consumers on his fuck up. John Carmack at least his said at Quakecon that RAGE was a flop, that's great he's not in denial like some other people.
In this very case silence doesn't work, this problem isn't going away without being addressed properly, the further he waits the more other people associated with it are just gonna back away (like the devs working for him) and let him take the full brunt of it all.
Ayden Jones
It's was pretty fun, wasn't it?
>Colossal failure
