Mods are expected to enjoy anime or at least Otaku things, as with janitors, which is why you often see mods post animu reaction faces (the leaked images of the janitor board literally show people arguing about waifus, for example), and often stickies play anime music (see the Cred Forums brexit sticky, where they played music from Girls Und Panzer).

It's not hypocritical, because Cred Forums was never a politics site, and politics have never really manifested itself into the imagery of this website. Cred Forums was created for people who like anime first, and its boards were originally created for people who like anime to discuss non-anime things with people who like anime. This is why you see anime advertisements, and anime banners on every board regardless if ti's an anime board, and also why Yotsuba, an anime girl, has always been this website's mascot.
