>I like video games, I play a lot of Overwatch if you've heard of it. No? Its a shooter, fun game.

Thats it. Thats the extent of me explaining my hobby to new people/non-gamer people.

>Outcast

Girlfriend loves Heroes of might and magic 3 and loves tabletop games and shit, if that makes us outcasts then Im chill with that

Nope. Some types at my work have the "ugh, gamers" attitude, but then they realize about half the office plays games to some degree.

There's only one or two real "gamers" but most of the people own at least one console and play from time to time. As a result, it's normal to be able to have conversations about AAA titles. Even if I'm trying to converse about obscure shit, the rest of the people might go "Oh, haven't heard of that. Is it any good?"

Gaming doesn't make you an outcast. There are gamers who are outcasts because of their behavior surrounding their hobby though. There's a difference.

No, I have no issue explaining that I enjoy gaming, I find if it's not your only hobby people don't really care.

No it doesn't make me feel like an outcast, I have a healthy social circle.

I don't really need to justify playing video games anymore, this isn't the 80's.

God, this "girl" looked ugly before and now age has really not been nice to her.

No but I fucking despise when my friends or family bring it up like its my defining characteristic.

you're only saying that because she's a girl in the gaming community.
she looks great for 60

all convos have basically just been

''what are your hobbies?''

''i like gaming''

''oh cool'' or ''oh i do too *talks about casual mobile trash*''

i dont get how people get into convos where they need to explain anything beyond ''i play games''

Oh god, this thing looks like it's ready to take my soul.

I love that most of my co-workers are or were into video games, comics, etc. Despite our differences we share some common ground hobbies. Just different priorities.

>I play a lot of Overwatch

red flag tbqh

>you're only saying that because she's a girl in the gaming community
>you're only saying that because she's a girl in the gaming community
>you're only saying that because she's a girl in the gaming community
>you're only saying that because she's a girl in the gaming community
>you're only saying that because she's a girl in the gaming community
>you're only saying that because she's a girl in the gaming community

I just watched Dr. Horrible again and she's the weakest part of the cast. Voice sounds fake as fuck. Guess she was the only one they could get for free at the time.

Thats anime

Gamergate fucking ruined this place. Look at you sick fucks. And you know you took a good cause and ran in to the ground with your counterculture hipster bullshit.

I'm throwing a party for hipsters in Jonestown, if you all want to come. I won't be there. You get all the free kool aid you want though. I'll even stock a bunch of pretty Overwatch cases for you to stare at. The latest from YOUR BEST FRIEND, Activision-Blizzard!

Gaming is a huge thing now. The only people who would think you're weird for playing games would be older people, mostly.
Even the Chad Thundercocks of the world play games.

Joss wheadon emails felicia
"can you sing?"
Felicia replies
"yes of course I can"
Joss Wheadon cums in his pants
"you're hired"

and the ones who label themselves "gamer" really are fucking toxic most of the time

>old people are scary

Everyone plays fucking video games, retard. Old people have phones. I'm sorry you're not special. :(

You ask for it

>you like video games?
>yeah
>what games do you play?
What the fuck am i suppose to answer? I play a bunch of fucking games, what kind of stupid question is that?

Yes I too hate overwatch because it is popular, fellow Cred Forums poster

/thread

I dont give a fuck about doing it either.

>There's a difference.

Don't expect Cred Forums to understand it.

Ask Cred Forums they are the ones obsessed about power level hiding

I don't feel bad when I talk about normie games like overwatch or GTA.
But I do feel awkward when I try to talk about Jap games and story driven RPGS.
I feel like such a sweaty retard when people find out I have over a 1000 hours in New Vegas.

no, helps i have other hobbies though.

>old people are scary
That's not what I said, faggot.
Don't be making shit up to fit your own narrative.

>do you play vidya user?
>yeah
>what do you play?
>mention current aaa titles
>oh, do you play league or dota?
And then i just move on

Gaming is fucking normie tier and that's beyond an understatement

That fucking makes you a retard, by anyone's standards

no I live in the year 2016 and I'm not insecure about what I do to feed my crippling depression. Most of the people in my area play the same games I do anyways and usually if you don't mention the stuff you're partial to you'll never find like-minded people.

Sorry I like a video game, user.

No I generally keep it private and attempt to manipulate the other party into telling me what they enjoy so we can talk about that, even if I know nothing about it. Or use prior knowledge, such as hearing a conversation across from them on the bus, to use as conversational ammo. If they're too hard to pry interests out of then it falls to small talk and vapid compliments, plus mostly listening without talking.

>When the girls at work who don't know a thing about vidya ask you what games you like.
I just can't lie, but I'd probably trail of like an autist if I tried to explain a game I liked.

> revealing your power level
> ever

Say something like Dark Souls, or Fallout. Those are mainstream as fuck.

I literally asked a normie at my college if he's heard of Dark Souls, and he did the praise the sun gesture right then and there.

Just don't tell them you like Senran or something.

No, I dislike it because the kind of people are cancerous

No, I've never had to tell anyone that I "play videogames" since it isn't the core of my identity.

>video games
>hobby

They are a pastime, or is watching telly a hobby now too?

Baseball is America's pastime. Is baseball not a hobby?

No, it's a sport.

>tfw meeting random lads and chopping it up about Dark Souls and Touhou

when you learn to stop giving a fuck life becomes pretty cool

Not really. Sometimes I find it hard relating with people in the office on what kind of games we play. Everyone tends to rush out for the blockbuster shit but I don't talk shit about it.

Nowadays it isn't unusual to play games at all but back in the day it was a little awkward as people my age were growing up.

i feel like it´s not accepted hobby so instead i just tell people i´m into sports.

remember if they can judge you for being unique they will and use every single weird thing about you against you. So don´t be honest or tell shit unless you´re with friends.

So a sport can be a pastime but not a hobby? Video games are considered sports now, so what exactly can be considered a hobby then? Sports, vidya, tv can't be so what is?

I can't imagine a more depressing existence then having to live up to the standards of judgmental fools or seek the justification of others to enjoy my own personal interests.

Either they play games or they don't. If someone is so insecure that they have to look down on people for having a hobby that's 'beneath' them then honestly they are a cunt and I have no interest in being around them anyway.

>he did the praise the sun gesture right then and there.
oh man he sounds autistic as fuck

>remember if they can judge you for being unique they will and use every single weird thing about you against you.
if you dont want anything from those people that quickly falls into irrelevance. Seriously I'm guessing most of you are still in or starting college age; trust me, people on your level cant really do shit to you thats not super fucking petty. I mean really, what the fuck are they going to do to you if you say you like videogames? Not hang out with you? Fucking hell its not like you wanted to anyway if you dont share a common interest.

>people never ask me what I'm into
>if I tell them they don't care

it feels like people only want to talk about themselves and it fucking exhausts me to never be able to express myself

no because pretty much everyone plays a videogame.

Thing is, you have to justify it if you say you only play videogames for 8 hours a day. Because it is no longer normal and is an obsession.

I have a similiar problem, but I'm learning its alot about just taking control, dont "wait for your turn", people will shut the hell up if you move like you got something to say. Dont sit around absorbing peoples bullshit if you dont want to hear it.

nope

the older generations either sit on arses watching tv all day or sit there getting pissed every night

What if I don't like Fallout?

Dark Souls for some reason is just not popular at all in my town. Every fucking guy I've brought it up to says it's too hard, and then they go on about how amazing Fallout or Life is Strange is. Fucking normies I swear. Even Overwatch it seems like everyone here dropped after the first month and I'm the only one who still plays it from time to time. The only online game people want to play is ASSFAGGOTS.

How do you deal with people not following your conversation topic after bringing it up?

I'm still a social butterfly but I never talk about vidya. Every time a fuckbuddy wants a relationship I just say, "I'm too young". Then I tell them if they really want one they pay for everything ALPHA. This has happened 2 times, they always complain that I have money and could pay. I'm always never trying because I want a vidya wife who likes normie shit, not just doing normie shit all the time then coming back home and watching netflix, so fucking boring

I am trying to picture doing the emote in public being normal and even if you did a short version of it you are still putting your hands up in the air and looking like an autist.

Somehow even the make contact gesture in public is less autistic, probably because it is from Bloodborne instead of some lame souls game.

what about the women who play video games?
they can't even mention it without everyone claiming they're looking for attention.

If I find myself getting bored I pretty much just leave. People will talk about what they want to talk about, and that's all fine with me.

>everyone I work with is in highschool or college and they consistently stare at their phones at work
I stare at screens but I'm usually killing shit when I do.

you still have to give a fuck for women unless you want some weird crackhead videogame waifu.

Nope, altough generally i say i really like movies before talking about vidya because its more socially accepted, if someone actually likes vidya and asks me about it i just show my true powerlevel to them, generally they find it interesting and end up playing a videogame they wouldn't have touched if i didn't talk to them about it.

No you dont.

This never happens to me but it happens to my brother a lot.

The key is to talk about subjects similar to the already existing one, if you start talking about something off the wall. Unless it is super interesting it will get dropped in favor of the current subject, and is awkward as shit.

yeah you do, unless they are already accustomed to videogames it drives most away. You have to have a plethora of different hobbies to entertain most women.

No.
I stopped giving a fuck in high school.

I never tell people on the outside that I play vidya. Not even my lovers.

It's a shameful act to participate in.

>Always have headphones in at work because I'm a janitor and that shit's unbearable without distraction
>Cute girl asks what music I listen to
>Tell her that I'm not really big on music and monstly listen to podcasts
>Asks what kind
>Can't think of a normie reply on the fly so I just tell her that they're vidya podcasts
>"Oh, you like video games? What kind?"
>Don't know what she's into, so I just tell her that I play everything except sports games
>"Do you play RPG's?"
>End up having a thirty minute talk about Pillars of Eternity
I-I'm goin' for it, Cred Forums! My kissless virgin days will be over soon, just you watch!

yeah yeah bronies were open about their interest and look how that turned out to be. if vidya turns out to be the new cringe you´re dodging a bullet by not branding yourself as the super mario guy to everyone.

>tldr most normies are dicks
>tell dicks what they want to hear not what actually is going on

>You have to have a plethora of different hobbies to entertain most women.

And thats the problem, you're seeing it as some big obligation to """"entertain""" bitches you probably don't even like at the end of the day. Again stop caring so much about what randoms think, most people really arent shit and cant do anything for you.

good for you user.
I hope she doesn't have a really hairy vagina.

>toxic

Neck yourself.

Do autists not get that if a WHOLE BIG GROUP is 'outcast' then they're not outcast anymore, they're a different group. Shitfuckers.

I never mention my hobby because I don't like having to justify or explain. If asked about it I would lie or evade the question.

If you're not a fucking autist you can talk about literally anything and nobody will bat an eye. I've seen that shit firsthand.

Its not the topic thats the problem, its you.

Nobody will ever ask

Nobody will even care about it

You just say what you do if ever ever EVER somebody asks, but in reality, no one cares about what you do, so it most likely will never happen.

I'm in no position to be picky anyway, I'll take the hairiest pussy in the world as long as the person it's attached to is nice to me.

Yeah I am specifically talking about relationships with women, you definitely need to provide your side of the relationship providing something. If you don't give a fuck it is a one sided relationship destined to fail.

GIVE THEM YOUR FAVORITE GAMES
GIVE THEM THE GAMES YOU HAVE BEEN PLAYING RECENTLY
NAME A COUPLE OFF THE TOP OF YOUR HEAD
Name some multiplayer ones in the hopes you can get a budding friendship.
This isn't hard.

I still feel like a nerd talking to people about it and I genuinely dodge the issue unless I know for a fact the other person plays too.

No I'm not fun to be around.

whats wrong with that? ;D

This.

Asuka had a hard life.

Why would you want a main squeeze who doesn't approve of what you do for fun or satisfaction?
Fuck 'em.

Breh you're talking like you're gonna get married to the first chick you talk to. Check this out:

If you're just casually talking, and you mention videogames and she gets turned off and leaves, then you don't want any part of her any fucking way because you're hardly compatible on even a superficial level - it dosent even matter.

Bullshit aside there are plenty dudes who play games and have qt gfs these days, so this whole argument is borderline bullshit depending on where you live.

>I love the Zelda series.
that's all the explanation I need to do. It drives away 99% of faggots which is alright, if you don't want to talk Zelda or Guild Wars, then I don't want to talk to you! :D

That's what they deserve for falling for a forced Cred Forums meme.

>:D
Kill yourself please

That's how you should be, user. Going on at length about your hobbies to someone who clearly isn't interested is autistic as fuck, there's nothing wrong with only sharing with peoople who share that hobby. I'm sure you're a fun person to be around when you're not talking to people you have nothing in common with.

This is too many though, and even when i answer they don't care because it's not the AAA of the month so why even ask such a stupid and vague question?

Video games are pretty main stream these days (which is probably why they've gotten so terrible over the years.) Maybe like 7 years ago people might have looked down on hobbyist gamers, but any feelings like that are probably just leftover.

My girlfriend is a middle school teacher, literally *all* of the kids play mine craft and similar games -- girls, boys, cool kids, retards etc.

In other words, the upcoming "generation" of adults will consider video games a normal part of every day life.

For that slight glimmer of hope that it isn't mobile trash, FIFA, or CoD 6373828373738 that they're into.

>be me
>meet q t pi
>tell her about how i prefer games to movies/tv
>"OMG UR A GAMER????? LOL"
>she stops talking to me
>feel like shit

why?

you guys put too much value on a cute face

>Outcast
Should I play it?

Sounds like a miserable bitch who's into Netflix and chill.
Dodged a dull bullet, bud.

fucking same

>Hey bro you like video games?
>Yeah, sure
>Yo you like DUTY bro?
>Not for a while, I haven't played since World at War
>Oh okay, but you like BF right bro?
>I've only ever played Bad Company 2
>Oh alright, but you play Madden right bro?
>No, I don't really like sports
>How about FIFA bro?
>I just said I don't like sports
>Oh okay, so what do you play bro?
>I like RPG's mostly
>Yo they got lots of RPGs in Duty and BF, bro!
I know these people mean well and are just trying to share a common interest, so I can't bring myself to blow them off, but I die a little inside every time somebody tries to hold a conversation with be about fucking Black Ops or something.

She probably stopped talking to you for other reasons, or perhaps you didnt even register on her radar, and you're just self conscious about your gaming

I hate explaining to people because it is a waste of my time. I don't need to justify gaming to anyone and it doesn't make me feel like an outcast.

you're right user
she was really dumb anyway lol

Why the fuck do I need to justify? I talk with coworkers about vidya and movies casually, I'm not austistic to start talking with them about latest waifu simulator so it's fine.

Wouldn't they bring up Skyrim? :^)

>you need justification to play videogames
>there are people who think other people give a shit about their hobbies

Is this porn?

Because it doesn't appeal to the vast majority of females, I am not saying some women don't just the vast majority don't.

So if you don't care, you end up only being able to date videogame chicks and weaboos. If you expand yourself you can interest a lot more.

There are none who only play videogames and have girlfriends unless she is into the hobby itself. Unless it is a one sided relationship, which do not last long nor should they.

The problem is not caring enough to try and appeal to more women or even the woman you are with, a relationship is two sided and needs positive input from both sides to work. Just playing videogames alone will not do this for most women. You have to work with theirs at the very least as well.

na was going pretty good prior to that but she was more of a normal fag than me.

me
>listens to punk and alt
>has rx7 (am huge car nerd)
>high level job

her
>day care employee
>cant believe you dont watch game of thrones
>what is a 4 chan?

Video games are mainstream now. No one but old people will chide you for playing them and I'm not trying to be buddy-buddy with any old people anyway.

>There are none who only play videogames and have girlfriends unless she is into the hobby itself.
[citation needed]

>. Just playing videogames alone will not do this for most women. You have to work with theirs at the very least as well.

Assuming you're a functional human being videogames will hardly ever make up 100% of your life, so thats whatever. And OBVIOUSLY if you plan on being in a relationship with someone you'll make reasonable accommodations for their interests as well.

The big point is that you shouldn't give a fuck what anyone thinks about your videogame playing, because if they don't like what you do then why do you want to be close to them anyways? It just seems like you're trying really hard to justify pointless insecurity.

>this "girl"
Do you really think that old bitch is a man? does Cred Forums think any non 10/10 girl i a man?

>justifying your hobby to other people
For literally what purpose?

That happened back in the 90's but only retards and the elderly still question games. Most everybody plays games even if it is a shitty phone thing these days.

I don't like making casual talk about what I am into anyway.

I was more referring to the fact that some people don't care enough to do things outside of videogames. I was taking the not caring in a different context.

And there are a ton of people on here who only play videogames and expect relationships to work, who I was primarily referring too.

Literally nobody gives a shit about videogames as long as you have multiple different hobbies as well and they don't occupy over 50% of what you do, as the other 50% is automatically work and sleep.

dumb bratposter

Cred Forums PREFERS their 10/10 girls to be men, fucking fags

That's why I do shit aside from vidya so I can talk about that instead.

And if vidya gets brought up I just take the easy way out with "I'm into Counter Strike".

>Dude7597
>Hot meowth
Literally fucking whos
I bet Blizzcon is going to be won by a literal won as well. I hope it is won by some yogg who does some 1 in 10000 bullshit to send this game into its death throes

>Dragon warrior vs Aggro shaman
Please kill me now

I legitimately believe it's a better hobby than anything other people do. I just hate how it's dragged down by the fact that it will make me forever alone.

>People whose idea of fun is spending a Friday night in a loud disco full of people, having your senses assaulted by flashing lights in an otherwise dark hellhole full of sweaty people and loud pop music, while taking psychedelics like alcohol, weed or worse.
>Think people like this could possibly understand what's good about games.

Even now that most games being released are horseshit, it's still more engaging than most anything normies do. That meme image comes to mind where the narrator is like "through vidya I slay dragons, climb mountains, save 'murrica, etc. etc.".

Maybe I just need to move out of New York City, but I have a feeling you can't escape the clubber fuckwads anywhere.

Video games are mainstream enough that you no longer have to explain or justify it.

Unless you sperg out about the specific genres or consoles you play on, most people will generally understand it when you say "I like to play video games".

More importantly, people need to realize that they don't have to be afraid of people judging them as much as they think. If someone hates you for something dumb like liking video games, they're probably not the kind of person you wanna be friends with anyway. It's just as bad as hating someone for liking sports, movies, birdwatching, whatever. People try way too hard to please everybody as if "everybody" is some omniscient god or something. It's not, it's just a bunch of different individuals who all have their own personal demons and insecurities that they may not even realize exist.

Grill plays games for the attention/profit.
>MUH PATRIARCHY CALLING ME OUT ON THE TRUTH, LET'S BITCH ABOUT IT!

Grill plays games casually.
>MUH PATRIARCHY WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE MY GAYMER STATUS. I'M TOTALLY HARDCORE, I LOVE B:INFINITE AND SKYRIM xD

Grill is an actual "gamer" as they have developed taste and a set of standards due to having a decade or more of experience and passion towards the hobby.
>I'm a social unicorn, because my fellow femanons are all attention whores or casuals who don't strengthen my community and often destabilize it with their SJW bullshit. I will hide and not socialize via gaming as it's a hostile environment until my type gorws in numbers, if ever.

The story of Grill Gaymers so far.

>All I listen to is vidya and movie soundtracks, the type of dramatic shit you can put on your workout playlist.
>Someone asks me what music I listen to.
>Pic related.

Why would I have to explain it or justify it to anyone?

Yeah, all the time. Watching her insightful talks about geek culture has helped me a lot though, its still a daily struggle just to be myself.

>Overwatch
>girlfriend
Wew

Are you still here user? Neet here, sometimes when I go to a mall or while I'm eating at one, I see janitors just chilling out cleaning and making some bucks without being bothered. Maybe its sad but I wish I could do that and maybe buy a couple of nice things for me or ask that asian girl out some day, instead of just thinking about it. Can you tell me about your job?

It's more shocking for me if someone didn't at least tried a videogame. Even my mother had pacman fever.

>95% of young ppl have phones here and everyone has at least a king game on it.

this. fucking everyone plays vidya nowadays.

i go to an art school. people actually cannot hide their power levels here because nobody else really cares or is the same way.

so what do you think people with gf´s play? and do you honestly think they got a girl coz of their taste in games?

please do explain coz i dont fucking understand women or their preferences in men

Nigga, if your standards are so low that even a Janitor post would seem like an improvement to you, it's not actually hard to find a job. What are you even doing, nigga? Sheeeeit!

Are you an immigrant or some shit? Even then, if you're young, you can find some shit with minimal effort.

>Vidya
>On phones.

That's a good one, user. What will you say next? The Vita has games?

I'm not a Meme Expert, but I think he's memeing that Overwatch is for casuals and therefore it's no wonder - no surprise he'd have a girlfriend

I have never had to explain it nor has it ever made me feel like an outcast. Where do you fucks still live that a majority of people aren't aware of / accepting of gaming as a hobby? Nobody I knew in school didn't play videogames by the time the N64 was out. Nowadays videogames are a super common topic to bring up at work. The only thing I feel different by is that I have always been a little Sony shit whereas most others' progression has been N64 -> Xbox -> 360, or so it has always seemed. This is the first generation of consoles people seem not interested in at all, locally, in favor of PC gaming.

what is the secret of her ugliness?

Most people i know play games. Sure, it's mostly casual" stuff like FIFA, LoL or GTA, but it's still games. Heck, the closest thing to a jock in my highschool class used to be into more niche games like Dark Souls and Asura's Wrath. A couple of girl friends are into PS1 games cuz nostalgia

Do you still live in a meme world where participating in such a big (and arguably casualized) industry to whatever extent is somehow yucky?

I'd kiss her tbdesu

Someone's dad once tagged along to a museum excursion I've made with a few acquaintances. The dude was around 50 and just had a second kid who was a 6 year old and started to get into vidya. After the trip we went to get dinner and while we ate, he wanted us to explain what video games are about, what's their big draw in.

I tried my best to explain things like immersion and hands on action, unique experiences not very accessible elsewhere in life, etc, without coming off weird about it. We mostly talked about Dark Souls. I once saw some user describe how when you first face a huge boss and don't know how to deal with it, you may be triggering centuries old instincts of fear that our ancestors had when encountering something like a mammoth for the first time. I tried to retell that to him, but I don't think he got it, I probably crossed the weeaboo treshold.

It's not my fault if people think all videogames are pokemon and all anime used to be adapted for children to watch because their mentality is still the same as 15 years ago

I avoid people, so it's never been a problem.

>all anime used to be adapted for children to watch

Could have fooled me, anony mouse.
I agree with the former, though. I can never REALLY talk about vidya because it's always just muh Nintendo, le Skyrim, LoL xD, Juggler Simulator fighting games (all the niggers) or EKS BAWKS!

Basically this. I do the best I possibly can to interact with the fewest people as is possible on a daily basis.

>Talking to some dude I sort of know off to the side at this little event we had to go to
>So what did you do last night?
>Oh got on the computer, scrolled through a forum for a bit, watched a show
>Oh, what did you watch
>Some foreign animated series, was a pretty good adaptation of Treasure Island
>You mean Takarajima? Dezaki is a god
>Turns out this guy was literally me and liked both 70's mecha and CGDCT
It's like a strike of lightning when you run into your clone, I wanted him to take my boipussy right then and there.

You sound fun.

Nobody knows anything about me, i'm like a ghost, a shadow, a faded memory.

1000h in such an worthless endeavour is pathetic and unjustifiable.

>That fucking makes you a retard, by anyone's standards

Why are you on Cred Forums if you don't like video games?

>1000 hours into a Bethesda game.

Pure autism. When you are a casual who plays shit games for hundreds of hours? That's pure autism. Is Skyrim your favorite RPG, too? Do you buy the yearly Assassin's Creed games, too?

I make about 75 cents above minimum wage. A huge chunk of the job is downtime, I spend about 3 hours a night on the toilet playing Monster Hunter, but the schedule is shit. I work every weekend, second shift, and I get Tuesdays and Fridays off. Overall it's not bad, but it's not something I want to be doing a year from now. I don't do any serious cleaning though, I take care of basic shit like cleaning toilets, pulling trash, wiping surfaces, mopping, etc. I don't clean blood, or shampoo carpets or anything more demanding.

There's a difference in liking games (been playing them for longer than you've been alive) and having a functional life (gf, job, friends) and being a basement dwelling virgin whose whole existence is being glued to a screen.

I'm starting to believe that fishing for the kindred spirits in general masses is not something that a person should be doing. Chances are that they will be very cynical or ignorant about the whole thing and it won't be a pleasant conversation even if they kinda-sorta share my interests.

To specifically find someone to share an interest with the best thing to do is online or at some events: now that you know for a fact that a person shares your interest to a certain degree you will be free to concentrate on filtering out people that you are incompatible with.

Still, if something is important to you you should fish for connections but without really investing too much into it. If you will click with someone you will make both of yours lives better.

New Vegas is an Obsidian game, user. Bethesda just published it.

I mean if you like casualized tf2 babies first fps then go ahead no ones gonna disagree with your obvious shit taste here

>yeah yeah bronies were open about their interest and look how that turned out to be

because a lot of them were weird as fuck about it. If you're normal and just say you like something then most people are gonna say "Oh, cool" and move on.

>what is a 4 chan?

Please tell me you didn't bring up Cred Forums in a conversation at some point.

...

I'm being serious, in my country anime was adapted and censored in order to be family friendly and anime quickly became cartoons for kids
There are people who still think about it this way

Knowing that some people on this site openly talk to people in real life about posting on Cred Forums makes me feel a lot better about myself.

I don't. I just lie and say I read a lot.

I'm an outcast because I'm a fuckin' sperg, lmao.

But I don't talk about video games in person.

But it really is for kids.

>weed

Depends really, most anime ranges from kids to mid to late teens

don't mention gaming unless you are legitimately fine admitting it. people can see through fake confidence. that, or you will come off conceited and as a dorkmaster.

>not playing games high and drunk

best of both lives

Meant to say psychoactives. Whatever. Fuck anyone who partakes in any of that stupid, obnoxious shit. It's literally the only thing anyone does here in NYC. I was really hoping shit was going down yesterday and that people'd actually start getting killed. Whatever kid made these pipe bombs and shit is an idiot. Just hide one near the club hotspots on a weekend night. Instant multi-kill. I'd be so fucking happy to know those fucktards got killed for having nothing better to do than clubbing on a weekend.

Fuck, I just. God, I hate these people so much, dude. I hope we get nuked. I'd gladly die if it meant they go too.

Listen, dick, when you contribute 1/100 of what felicia day has contributed to gaming culture and independent production, you can talk

Teens are kids, mate. No matter how grown up they might think they are.

Not going to disagree user, but they are indeed a different demographic when it comes to any form of media.

>needing to justify your hobbies
Stop hanging around shitty people.

You make it sound easy. You're probably not american. I envy you.

>referring to women as "females"

found your problem

Right? You shouldn't assume someone's gender.

This means you may, not kidding, be on the autism spectrum, and should look for help in maintaining a conversation.

I had this problem big time as a kid, but didn't think I was autistic because I wasn't a total retard like most people I knew who were autistic. Turns out, there are non-cringe people who have autism, but they're actually trying to improve themselves, so you'd never realize it.

This one is easy for me.
>Hey bro you like video games?
>Yeah, I play a few
>Yo you like DUTY bro?
>Nah, I mostly just play Street Fighter and shit
>Oh. That's cool I guess.

Done. Everyone knows what the fuck Street Fighter is, and chances are they either can't play it and won't admit it, or used to play it as a kid. Sometimes they'll ask me if I play Tekken or MK, and want to play those. I'm casual at both those games, so that's A-OK with me.

Most are but not all of them
And the intended demographic is not always reflected on sales, GTA is supposed to be for people over 18 for the excessive violence but even teens play it
Seinens for example are concieved for a mature audience

>You play video games, right, user?
>yeah
>you see they're remaking Skyrim for next gen? Sounds pretty badass. That game was so epic.
>I did see that. I probably won't buy it, though, since I played it a lot on pc
>oh. Well they've like totally redone the whole game and its at a way higher frame rate and shit like that
>yeah?

And on he went, talking about how much greater the xbone version will be over the 360 version. I didn't stop him. he seemed really passionate and happy at the idea of replaying it. Good for him.

>What do you do user?
>I just play video games when I'm not working, they're my main thing.
>Sweet, do you play LoL?
>No.
>CoD?
>No.
>Halo?
>Nintendo?
>Overwatch?
>Skyrim?
>Bioshock?
>Fallout?
>Assassin's Creed?
>Fighting games?
>*list goes on forever with whatever mass marketed casual flavor of the month game is popular*
>no, no, no.

And that's my experience with "gamers". I'm glad if I can even find normies who are into basic shit like Dark Souls, where I can at least get into some sort of discussion.

>10-70 hours a week spent on vidya every week.
>Can't even discuss it with other "gamers".

No wonder I'm perpetually depressed.

Shut up, Wesley.

>Tekken

That shit is god awful to play with other people. The slightest bit of skill difference will decide the game instantly for the better player.

There's the button spammer, there's the intermediate who learned most of the basic commands for a few characters and there's the juggle master tourneyfag.

If you don't fight people in the same tier as you, it's god-awful for everyone. If you're the better tier, you just feel bad for the shitty player.

If you have to explain what video games are to a person then they're the outcast not you. You don't even have to play games to know what they are since there's commercials about them on TV, sometimes game publishers are sponsors for sport games and you see ads during those, fast food & soda companies always have cross-promotions with games, they're on billboards. This hobby has been normie as fuck for over a decade, you'd get stranger looks if you said you buy your music physically these days.

My best friend growing up had an older brother was retarded, and he LOVED Tekken. Something about the timing for the combos really rubbed his autism the right way. He would routinely drop those 150% combos with King in Tekken 4.

He was terrible at Crash Team Racing through, so pushing his shit in at that was a decent consolation prize.

Why didn't you just tell them the games you do play after the first no? Sitting there saying no to everything they then list is retarded.

...

shut up claude
you're not supposed to be so talkative

>mods can turn Felicia Day into Karen Gillian

nice

Fortunately I don't have to justify shit to people because I'm not weak in character. The lady doesn't really get it, but if she was overly hostile to it she wouldn't even be here in the first place

Because nobody fucking has any idea what I'm talking about when I say I'm "playing through Divinity: Original Sin" or "frequenting Dead by Daylight a bit".

Normies don't want to hear about actual games, they just want to share their experiences with you about the casual trash they played for like 5 hours that one time.

tits are for babies but they can be enjoyed by grown men

That's fair enough. I guess you could just lie and pretend to like the same stuff they do.

What are the odds a casual will share his taste?

Slim to fucking none. The conversation would have likely been mirrored.

I don't need to explain anything.
Decent people don't care what you do.
Insufferable normies with "huurr you're still playing vidya, grow up" attitude won't be convinced with anything you say regardless.

What's going on there?

can you photoshop this to make her look better?

I could. But if I had a "fake it 'till you make it" mentality, I wouldn't be a 24 y/o kissless Cred Forumsirgin playing vidya in the first place.

Post a picture of yourself

Don't you have anything better to do, Felicia?

C'mon you must be cute let me see your face annon ;3

But she is so ugly, how on earth did she become TV celeb?

The "fake it til' you make it" mentality is the worst.

You'll never be truly happy if you adopt it.

>it's socially acceptable sinking 8 straight hours marathoning series or using the phone
>it's not socially acceptable sinking 8 straight hours playing games

Not even complaining, I just think it's funny that people think like this. I don't even say to people I like games

Thank you.t

pixels, quite a few in my time, etc

Funny, because if I took my depression to a clinic, 10 out of 10 shrinks would tell me to do that.

Have you ever considered that they just say that to keep you from recovering so that they can squeeze more shekels out of you?

Shrinks and Psychiatrists are a scam.

I practically never even entertained the idea of going. It's just grating on the nerves when the few people I know recommend it to me as a knee-jerk response, like it's gonna' solve everything.

PROTIP: Trying to make everyone like you is as futile as it is exhausting, and the type of person that would pass judgment on you for being passionate about something isn't the type of person whose opinion you should value.

Be tactful and civil but be yourself, unapologetically so.

I think people failing to live by that rule is the reason you see so many people who are "friends" yet have nothing in common.

Lived by that mantra my entire life and I'm a friendless loser. Just because it works for you doesn't mean it's a universal solution.

The problem might be you, user.

Then again, it might not. It could be your location.

If literally nobody likes you, you may have some legitimate flaws you need to address.

Good luck, user.

It's not about not being liked by anybody. I just have absolutely nothing interesting to offer, so people don't make any efforts to connect. That leaves me with the need to be the sole person instigating and nurturing friendships, but I rarely have much interest in other people either - again, zero connection - so it's always a bust.

I work 6 days a week at night shifts, am constantly sleep deprived and don't have enough time to socialize. Not that I want to, to begin with. It feels like a fucking chore, every single time. And there's a backlog of vidya to play.
I mean, you're right. I don't want it badly enough. It's just depressing to know that for most people, having friends or even girlfriends is just a run of the mill thing. They get it for practically free just by being themselves. Meanwhile, me being myself has always lead to isolation. Knowing this isn't very good for my psyche.

Besides:
>If literally nobody likes you, you may have some legitimate flaws you need to address.

This completely defeats the "you just do you, bro" message to begin with. I never get why people say shit like this.

it's an addiction, I don't have to try and leave my house to interact.

>You like DUTY bro?
More of a Freedom guy myself.

There is nothing wrong with saying you like games, you just need a little charisma and you can pull any shitty hobby off.

The reason why people say that is because they assume you're not an autist. No-one likes an autistic sperg.

If you're not an autist though, you should be able to find a clique no matter who you are.

You gotta be a huge car nerd to deal with that thing on a daily basis.

Ive never had to justify it to anyone. I don't talk about games to people who don't care about them, and nobody outside of when I was in high school cares that I play games.

Have you ever been to a shrink? I've talked to a therapist about anxiety and they never told me that bs.

I have more trouble explaining the video games I enjoy to other video games players. For everyone else, just a simple "I like playing video games" is perfectly fine.

Ok so I live in New York City.
Games are my thing, right? At least I haven't got time for anything else anyways. What are my options?

>Casual Gamers who play the current flavor of the month game oversold by the media.
I could never hold a conversation with these people. I've never once had fun doing anything with these people.

>Barcade folk.
I have never had fun in a Barcade. I don't drink.

>Fighting Game Tourneyfags
I never much cared for fighting games and that crowd is extremely obnoxious and loud.

>Lite-RP Tabletop Groups
I'd rather just play real D&D or some shit, honestly, but those groups are like unicorns when it comes to just finding one out of the blue, they're all private.

>Comic Con / Cosplay fags.
Again, too mainstream, nothing for me to ever discuss with these people. I've been to Comic Con once, I didn't understand what's fun or interesting about it. The merchandise was somewhat alluring, I guess?

>Halo / Smash / Mario Kart LAN party folk.
Again, don't care.

My hobby is just not much of a social link, that's all.

Anxiety =/= depression, user.

But tou didn't answer the question. Sounds like a bullshit practice. "Just fake it till you make it bro, here's my psych phd"

I don't bring it up. So yeah, I guess I do hate it. I just talk about the other shit I like.

I literally had a friend with a psychology major who immigrated to Britain. He actually told me this himself. Later, he went full nihilist on me and said "it's just life, dude, nothing matters, stop giving so much weight to everything by being depressed".
I told him he'll make a godawful psychologist and he unfriended me after that.

Going out and drinking isn't a hobby

I also read books and play guitar. Gaming is the last hobby I mention.

>wow look at user being on his computer all day while ignoring the fact that i do watch tv the same amount of time yet this make me a better person

No I love it, because I can actually explain it.

In a world where 80% of people have their heads sunken into their phones, you don't have to justify shit.

This is mostly what happens nowadays. Even with girls.

Cred Forums itself is a clique, so I suppose you could try meet ups.

In my experience so far Tabletop fags are the most chill/well-adjusted

my friends see me more of a car guy than a vidya guy so that's cool with me

>finally get a fellow female friend who plays games
>when we where kids we both used to play MMORPGs shit (Ragnarok Online, Survivor Project, Trickster and the like)
>she grew to become a graphix whore
>she doesn't stop talking about VR and Pokemon Go (and is also a genwunner even not playing anything past the forst game)

I just silently agree with all the shit she says
Guess I'll have to wait to have a RPG-pal who appreciates all the bishounens with me.

>meeting other people
>leaving your house
wat

can someone give me context on felicia day? is she like a raging feminist? I just watched her reddit ama video and she is honestly pretty cute and likeable. whats up?

>she is honestly pretty cute

...

that's cosmo/narcissa fuccboi

ain't gonna bait me faggot

she seems to have turned into a feminist over night.
>wrote a blog post about crossing the street from gamers
>wrote a book about her life detailing sections where gamers and 4channers ruined her life
>blames men and sexism for why she hasn't landed an acting role in a while
>Felicia says female characters are only in games to cator to the white male gaze
>shows up to Notch's new house uninvited and brings Anita Sarkeesian
She's not cute. she's actually very fucking ugly. she's great at putting on the girl next door act but she's hitting 40 now and no one gives a fuck anymore

i'd fuck her and the trans speedrunner posted above..

i have no standards at 23 and approaching wizardry.

youtube.com/watch?v=pbsR2VmgQf0

This is hard to watch

God, Felicia Day looks awful. She looked kinda cute in The Guild and that was it

Why do women age like milk?

white* women

>She looked kinda cute in The Guild
was she ever really cute

Then 10 out of 10 of the shrinks at those clinics are fucking dumb because that absolutely does not work when your brain chemistry is totally fucked
