People tend to take the results of the test too far. They take the test, research their type, find a character that matches their type, then think they ARE that character.

Myers Briggs is a just set of cognitive functions and how they manifest in a "cognitive stack" found in the different types. People can mistype themselves and people change types all the time. People also tend to focus on the letters of types(I for introvert) for example and focus on that, rather than what the combination of letters says about their cognitive functions.

There are other, maybe better psychological topographies out there, Big Five is the most commonly accepted in academy, but you can say that there is more than one way to present the mind via a schema, and MB maps onto Big Five in some ways.

Ultimately MB is hard to substantiate because it's very difficult to test, but that's a common thread in psychology and especially true of all "higher resolution" theories of the human mind. It's more for personal amusement that iron tight insights of the human mind.
