I hate playing as a non human in a game. Cartoon platformers are maybe ok, but in an RPG or mmo, or single player, I cannot stand playing as an alien or fantastical creature. It makes me play worse because I just don't care.

I wonder why demi-human is so favored. Maybe because the namedrop of Viera? Personally I'de probably pick Reptilian (Bangaa would be neat or say seeq), or maybe mixed heritage (different body types to some of the already established would be neat). There's a difference between something like Jabba the Hutt and a monster girl. Look at Monster Musume. Every one of those girls is human enough so that we can relate to them while still being monster enough to be monster girls.

The most "monster" anyone in Monster Musume acted was when they went crazy under a full moon and tried to rape the MC. I'm guessing he doesn't like for every race to basically be tied down to 1 class type to be played effectively. Like I'm guessing he'd prefer if every race could do every class type, just differently from other races.

The stats are whatever, but if that's the only variation between the races then it's not much different than picking "Human A, Human B, Human C."

Someone being a barbarian doesn't actually imply that they're some musclebound freak that just rips and tears through everything with a massive poleaxe. In games it basically just implies that they're uncivilized and warlike.

A group of int human barbarians could be some kind of crazy anti-druids that are basically spellswords that use dark magic to augment their close range combat potential. They could be a bunch of crazy train in the mountains martial arts types that don't even know what soap or proper eating manners are but can duel with the most technical fencers and might take on jobs as mercenaries or ninja.

Midget barbarians are kind of limited by default to using slings, shortbows, knives, throwing knives, and battleaxes, possibly some form of magic. They'd be the most slippery fuckers on the planet though. Dodging all kinds of shit for free, scoring criticals on half their hits, maybe even doing silly shit like walljumps and wallruns. They'd work best as ambushers. They could even make tools like primitive molotov cocktails and shit.

Warcraft beast races are fairly feral.

Depends on how you define barbarian within the context of the game. If it's D&D-style berserker rage then an int race would be prone to emotionless, single-minded "white rage", while a dex race would be a whirling bundle of fury, like a psychotic cat. Along with the more traditional "cut down everything that moves" rage, the three would be distinct variations of the same general theme.
