I don't get why'd they'd want to "appeal" to the public like this. Rather than settling it privately with Valve they'd rather defame the company ensuring that they'll never have a business relationship again. And appealing to the public only works if you have the public on your side, which you don't if you just start suing members of the public for hurting your feelings.

Not much to explain really. These devs constantly release shitty games onto steam and gets mad at people who call out their games. They filed a lawsuit against steam users and actually got a subpoena that makes Valve release the users real names and such and Valve didn't like this very much so they removed their shitty games off steam.

The worst dev in history no really THE WORST dev proceeds to shit out titles made with nothing but unity assets for 2-3 years multiple reviewers youtubers and hell anyone with a brain calls them on their shit. They get mad start using DMCA to start getting videos pulled youtube tells them to get fucked videos go back up. Jim Sterling gets sued by them because they don't like being told how shit they are. They proceed to dox him. They then issue a subpoena valve for steam users info because they left negative revies on steam. Steam told them to fuck themselves and delisted everything theyve ever submitted. They are losing their shit and its fucking delicious.

A game development company called Digital Homocide has been noctoriously spamming Steam Greenlight with absolutely shitty games. Irremediably shitty, even worse than shitty porn games where all the budget clearly went into poorly made porn.

So anyway, they mass produce all of these shit games. People keep giving them negative reviews, since the games are shit. Digital Homicide loses its cool, tries to sue everyone who gives them a negative review and tries to sue Steam to release data on users so they can sue them better.

Obviously this doesn't fly very well and Steam kicks them out.

The problem is that it took YEARS of complaints for this to happen. Digital Homicide ran their own pirate site that gave away keys of their game for free, and then made fake positive reviews with these keys. It's part of the reason why Steam started cracking down on fake positive reviews, especially from Steam keys.

Digital Homicide also has over 5 subsidiary companies it publishes games under, to try and trick people into buying them. Not only that, they actually STOLE the name of a Polish mobile phone game developed (ECC Games or something) and they tried to sue Digital Homicide. Digital Homicide responded by changing their logo to "Every Click Counts" and claimed that it was merely a coincidence that one of their subsidiaries had used ECC as a trading name. They used a Facebook profile they made in 5 minutes as "proof" of this.

I don't understand how they were granted the subpoena at all. Surely a district state court has no jurisdiction over companies based in Washington?

It can't cost that much to have these people killed, can it?

They're not specific to federal courts but i double checked the court filings and it's actually from the federal jurisdiction of arizona rather than a state arizona court so that's neat

It's a federal subpoena, but Valve should be able to quash it by showing that the plaintiff has no cause. The complaint was filed after the subpoena request, so it should be easy.

Also, no lawyer would take his case. It would be a waste of money and time.

It's not impossible to find scumfuck lawyers who take ridiculous cases on retainer, but given they were too dumb to find one for their case against jim sterling then yeah, I don't like their chances.
