I love it, when SMTxFE was announced I thought "oh great, more gay edgelord shit with tron rip off looking characters from that fucking eyesore of a game Nocturne mixed with yet another generic fucking PG eurppean fantasy setting" yet they realized their mistakes from the past and wizened up to what the fans really wanted and put in cute girls.

A fucking masterstroke to be honest. And Tsubasa's game turning out to be good and high quality just further solidify's my opinion that adding cute girls to anything makes it automatically better. Seeing edgelord "fans" of SMT and FE getting rightfully blown the fuck out by the quality of SMT and FE when mixed with cute girls was extremely satisfying. You effectively only had 5 dungeons, all of which were boring and lacking anything interesting.

The system relies on session combos too much, of which can make the battles feel extremely slow because you wouldn't skip the battle animations.

No, SMT games aren't like this. Strange Journey's follow-ups and even Persona 2's fusion attacks were much faster than #FE's combos and they're the closest equivalent.

Totally playable. I have no idea what's going on in the story mode, and can't read the objectives, but most of the time, it's easy to catch on.

I mostly just play Marathon, and 40 Lines, which you can stumble through menus to find pretty easily, but there's some menu translations out there to make navigating it easy.
You'll remember you way around pretty quickly, and won't need it after long.

I think it started with the new Fire Emblem games, since they were straight up versioned by waifu.

The weird thing about this game is that it was like an industry wide effort from the anime industry to produce all the music. You have artists from Sony, Lantis, Avex, King Records and even I think Pony Canyon contributing songs and the like. No doubt Aki Hata wrote some of the lyrics too. Also the cast of the game is basically full of Love Lives, iDOLM@STERs and Symphogears.

I do like this game, but it feels like baby's first SMT. There's little in the way of character building and the session system is a neutered press turn system.

Also the characters are all cardboard cut out archetypes. They all feel phoned in.

I actually like the setting but the plot doesn't do anything interesting with it. It's a missed opportunity.
