What the point of these cards...

What the point of these cards? Why waste a space in your deck and mana points/turn instead of just pick up minion that draws 1 card or simillar ones?

Having two cards is better than having one card.

Counts as a spell, which procs some abilities and conditions.

Because drawing desired cards or combos as fast as possible is extremely strong In both games.

Well, in case of Yu-Gi-Oh, you've those cards that discard the entire card, so you want to have something like Pot of Greed as a contingency to regain tempo when you need it. Secondly, by drawing out 2 cards at once, your potential to make a more viable combo increases.

>spend a normal summon to draw one card, or more but at even higher cost
or
>use a spell that can be used an unlimited number of times for a net gain in cards, possibly even giving you another pot of greed

Pot of greed is banned for a good reason.

Hello newfriend.

Thins deck if you have a deck based around a multi card combo that you need in your hand

Can be a way to trade tempo for value

>instead of just pick up minion that draws 1 card or simillar ones?

Usually draw minions are statted really badly or have to be activated first to draw

Can make use of spell synergy cards while also keeping your hand full

Pot of Greed isn't a waste since it costs literally nothing and gives you +1 in your hand. If anything the question would be, why not put it on literally every deck? Thus why it's banned.

"Draw a card" is probably one of the strongest abilities to have in most TCGs.

>it's a "I chain Bottomless then Breakthrough Skill to you Summoning your Kirin" thread

Pure, unadulterated plus one. Genuinely playable in every deck/archetype.

card draw is like the most OP mechanic in any card game... look at MTG most OP card of all time: ancestral recall

>waste a spot
>waste

But that's exactly the point. You want as FEW cards as possible, and cards that exist purely to draw more cards are, in essence, cards that reduce the minimum number of cards in your deck. If you had 3 pot of greed it'd be like playing with only 37 instead of 40 cards, and thus more advantageous. Being a net gain and completely generic just puts it over the top.

Which is why I run 3 cup of ace.

If not just posting for the memes it serves multiple purposes, major being it thins your deck out so your deck becomes more efficient, it's more likely you will draw cards or combos you need

The second being is quite linked to the first but it can be an emergency get out of a tight spot card, pulling out something to save you from losing

Targeting Kirin? Haha

Are you saying Hearthstone isn't a video game? Or that Yugioh doesn't have a bunch of video games involving the card game?

To OP, cards like that have uses, whether it's a way to simply get more cards in your hand or to safely trigger certain effects. I've seen a video involving the pot of greed where someone just had a deck full only those and Exodia.

>37
That's 3 upstarts not pot of greeds. 3 Pot of Greeds = a 34 card deck

That's the joke

you can deck yourself out
you remove 10 cards from your deck
it's terribly unpractical for several decks

should have posted card of demise

>spend on card
>get two cards
>more resources
>more options

You are essentially exchanging 3 mana with one extra card. Int he late game when you have more mana than you can spend, that's a great exchange.

>cup of ace
>giving your opponent advantage
Might as well run Dark World Dealings

Too fucking nerfed

You have to be baiting. I don't believe you're that stupid.

>a 34 card deck

No, because PoG still only takes up 3 spots. It does have more draw power and more quickly accesses the other 37 than Upstart though.

if pot of greed was not banned you'd be able to have a smaller deck meaning you are more likely to draw the cards you need making an already broken game even more broken hence why it's banned in all tournament play

The banished cards are upside down, that's shit.
Unless you run a super fast deck who doesn't give a shit about killing 1/4 of its deck you won't run this card.

There's probably a way to force the effect on your opponent

>Playing Majespecters
You deserve all the retards you get

Pot of Greed replaces itself and gives you another card.

Learn hand advantage son

>implying I don't have the world's best luck

>Kirin
>not thrown into every pendulum deck
Honey

You realize if anyone ever played three of those cards in a game they'd deck out?

You realize 10 cards is a lot to lose. Unless there's someone to flip those banished cards face up those cards are gone for good.

The only purpose it has is go fast and hope you get the cards you need for an explosive play to end the game quickly.
