silver was my first pokemon game
i thought i was fighting myself and i had no idea who red was

>mfw those levels

Not even your previous game's self

>friend that had gold before me told me about how super hype and difficult Red is
>get the game later, get to Mt silver expecting an amazing and challenging final boss
>.......
>sweep him with my hitmontop and brotodile
>he uses an escape rope and leaves

Was pretty let down with how much better I expected it to be.

>implying gen 2 wasn't a rushed disappointment in its entirety
They let you backtrack to kanto to cover up the jackshit there is in johto.

NO. FUCKING. WAY!

johto has more content than gen 1 kanto

Are any pokemon games hard if you just make a ballanced party?

Discovered him completely on accident when I decided to explore Mount Silver. I didn't play Red but I knew who it was and it nearly gave me a heart attack.

All mine were in their early 70's at the highest. I got destroyed my first time around.

...

When I played GoD, I went with making a fire based team. Got all the way to the final battle until the shadow Moltres shit all over my team.

I beat him with a party of lvl50

>trying to catch those lowcatchrate legandaries while everything's using crazy strong shadow moves against you

You're objectively wrong.

Look at the levels of the Elite Four relative to one another. In Gen I they're in the 50's/60s. In Gen II they're in the 40's.
Why?
Because you went through less content in Johto to get to them. Backtracking is a crutch for Gen II.
