I don't think devs for console will ever give a shit about framerate. They work to squeeze the best graphical sparkles out of the hardware, because to a casual observer the graphics are the most obvious display of a game's 'quality'.

Trying to tell my 8-year-old brother why framerate matters as he builds a house on MineCraft Pocket is a losing battle, and it doesn't matter anyway. If it's playable for him that's fine. 60FPS is ideal, but console players will rarely give a damn about it until it starts dropping below 30.

I spent more than I should have back in 2012 to build my PC at 800 dollerydoos.

Since then all I've upgraded was my GPU to a R7 370 to upgrade my 6850 and a newer HDD that was like 80 bucks.

So my total hardware has been a total of around 1000 dollars for 4 years now.

However, I've saved substantially by not having to pay to play online, I have my whole library accessible from one device, and can play everything at PS4 Pro/Morpehus settings which they're reselling at 400 dollar price points.

It's still the better deal overall.

Its just shows the demographic of poorfags that browse Cred Forums.

Actually, it's mostly because PC's have became the norm and have been generally recognized as the best platform by the end of the last and begining of the current gen consoles. There was a massive disillusion in consoles in general at that time, with a large number of previous neutral or pro-console people and "authorities" suddenly re-visiting the idea of propagating PC gaming. Like with everything that became more increasingly main-stream, that opened the floods of hatered here on Cred Forums. Add to that the number of disillusioned consolefags who bought their first-ever PC's with the begging of this generation only to discover that PC is not a console, and the MASSIVE increase in non-specific shitposting, trolling and shitty attitude on this board and you have the mess that we see right now.

To be honest, basically everything you see around here is a product of these non-specific shit moods, trends, "meme's" and what some retards call "board culture" that is going on through this place. They have very little connection to reality or any rational thought to begin with.

there hasn't been any good exclusive titles in a long time that look and play amazing but need a top end graphics card, plus there has been a large number of console-to-pc ports that runs objectively worse than on console due to lazy optimization.

when the majority of good pc exclusives are simple enough to run on a toaster, it defeats the point of spending a couple thousand bucks on a gaming PC only to use most of those resources compensating for crappy port jobs when you're better off spending 350 on a ps4 and 350 on an 'okay' PC picked up from your local computer specialist store

Because of how much of a meme it is. I will preface this by saying I own a gaming PC. I run a gtx 970, 16 gigs of ram, and a 4 Ghz Amd Cpu. The PC community just acts like there is no downsides of owning solely a PC. PCs cost a lot more than consoles, and for what? The platform has essentially no exclusives. Every game I play on my PC is on PS4/PS3 and some (Arkham Knight for instance) actually run and look better on PS4. Then I still own a PS4 for games that aren't on PC like Bloodborne, Uncharted, FFXV, KH2.8, and any fighting game only has a community on consoles due to the evenness of a shared platform. THEN pc guys just say "anything not on pc is a shit game" which is retarded and not in the spirit of gaming. Hell, the PC Gamer magazine ranked The Witcher 3 as the best pc game of all time, which isn't even an exclusive. And then you guys act like you're the "Master Race".

I completely agree although PC as a platform was snowballing toward a serious level of shit before greenlight, it happened when the focus of PC gaming began shifting away from actual PC games and onto graphics cards and AAA multiplats. That's when the true death of PC gaming slowly began, greenlight was mere nails in the coffin by then even if it used to be a pretty good program in it's early days, perhaps valve was smart in to capitalize on it, they probably knew the inevitable was coming so why not make money off it.

Now a days PC gaming is a empty husk of what it once was, I wish it stayed true to it's roots but people don't understand why the separation between console and PC gaming is important and seemingly want to turn PC's into modded consoles.

In an ideal world the separation would have allowed PC's own genres and games to continue and to thrive and flourish even despite piracy, and consoles would be the powerhouse for AAA exclusives.

Instead however of having two thriving and vastly different and unique libraries that are designed for and rightfully belong on their respective platforms, we have a PC platform that is now dead because it has been completely raped and damaged beyond repair by idiots who've tried to turn it into a more expensive console, and we have a console industry with a vastly reduced game output due to the fragmented userbase of PC users who want to play console games on PC while it's own exclusive genres and game have been left to rot and die.

Instead of understanding the purpose and economics of both platforms and uniting to push each platform forward to it's very best we ended up with this shit. Modern PC users are objectively and truly the literal cancer of gaming and it pisses me off beyond words. They killed true PC gaming and now they're also trying to kill consoles too, I just can't anymore..

PC gaming competes directly against Microsoft's Xbox which is the whole reason why they're building the Scorpio to try to take the mid range market from the PC OEMs and why they're turning Windows into malware infested shit as fast as they can so that other PC platforms won't have time to get up to speed before they deprecate using Windows on anything other than $100 netbooks and tablets.

It was a huge mistake on Sony's part for saying that, they simply cannot live up to it, the two are not comparable. One's a market that spreads over thousands of manufacturers and is used for many different things as well as gaming, the other's a single multimedia platform more suited to a living room.

People who have been building PCs their whole lives are not going to jump ship just because Sony released a shiny new toy and the average pleb isn't going to buy a new console when their current one works just fine for their needs.
