Proud and Critical, you take 2x damage compared to the other two modes. You deal 1.25x damage in Critical, though, and get more abilities and AP to start with. Your HP and MP totals are cut down, though, and you get less experience so you level more slowly, yet your AP bonuses are still pretty good.
The thing about Critical Mode is that this means Sora has the durability of a paper towel all game long, but a damn good player can kill enemies and bosses faster than they can in Proud.
