I don't remember getting a checkpoint I could reload after I enter every new area. It takes all of the tension out of getting to a save room when I can just reload whenever anything doesn't go to plan.

There are a few unmarked survivors in 1. Granted most of them are there for a while and/or appear in places you're likely to pass through often anyways.

The one you're probably most likely to miss unless you know about him beforehand is the guy in the entrance plaza barricaded by boxes on the first day.

You could probably allow some cliche wrestling weapons like tables and chairs to make up for that

Double lariat should do some pretty decent damage even to bosses.

There's also that group in the sports shop that have a hideout, that I think you have to grab some stuff for them on day 2 and then you have to save them from a fire late in day 3. I never saved them no matter how many times I tried even after looking up walkthroughs for it.

Yes it does, but be careful of hitting them with it. Also for it to respawn in the Security Room you can't have one in your inventory already, so make sure to drop your current one outside when you want an ammo refill.

Odd, I had the opposite experience: when I started throwing punches he just sat there blocking, waiting for me to stop. So I didn't, and after a few minutes of mashing X, he died.

I just stood on the body of the tank while he was on the top part and spammed somersault kick. He blocked, but I think he takes chip damage. If you don't have that, I think jump and roundhouse kicks should work.

Set a waypoint next to the duct, then bump into them until one manages to climp.

Beating brock is easy. Jump down to the lower part of the tank, stand back a bit so he can't kick you, and then when he jumps down, jump kick him. He'll then jump back up. Everytime he jumps down, just jump kick him again and eventually you'll kill him.

It's a cheap abuse of broken AI but it works

Would you have liked them to have gone back and brought the survivor A.I/pathfinding up to at least Dead Rising 2 levels, and maybe smoothed out some of the clunky controls like not being able to move and shoot? Or do you prefer it being untouched?

The survivor AI is the one thing about this game that makes it extremely frustrating at times. Maybe it's a defining aspect of the game but I certainly wouldn't miss it unless they went too far in the opposite direction and made everyone a killing machine.

The thing that was fucking up my last few playthroughs was doing The Lovers before delivering Brad's medicine, which locked up the mission, and entering wonderland with Above the Law active but forgetting it activates the other hostages, so if you leave the area they die pretty quickly with no indication.

Is the beginning path as linear as it feels? I've always gone: kent -> brad -> closet guy -> barricade guys and the mom -> sophie -> return them and go back to fuck up the clown -> japs -> old man -> fuck up at some point.

cut up the days onto several blocks horizontally, because by the end it will be so long vertically because youre adding survivors and bosses etc vertically, its going to be 1000x8000, or keep it that way, as long as you can make sense of the shit. not sure

53 survivors + 13 bosses or so, thats 66 ish

will roughly be a 66 x 73 grid, so might work as one big style as you have going on.

Convicts are only a threat the very first time they show up (and sometimes not even then) because you have to chase down that one retard woman and most likely have the woman you have to carry in your party already. Once you get the shortcut from the pervert you don't even need to ever go out there again.

Maybe if you were using an inefficient route. Getting all 53 594 kills shouldn't take more than a day and a half. I had more than enough time to nab a few other achievements in the same playthrough. If you want to be even more precise, an user reported getting the achievement in 202 minutes, which translates to 40 hours in-game.

I killed everybody except the survivors that Otis has to call you about their requests and mutinies. Otis will call you about a scoop at specific times and only if you're not on the same spot the scoop will happen at, so the warehouse, maintenance tunnels, park, and food court are good places to wait at if you're unsure of where the next scoop will take place because no scoops take place there that he'll call you about.

Also you do have to do all the main story missions so the military will show up, killing psychos is optional except for Paul since Otis will call you about his present once you've saved him, but I killed them anyway since it'd be too boring to just sit on my ass and wait during those long downtimes between story missions.

You can be interrupted as long as you answer his call again and hear it to the end, so don't worry about being rude, once he calls you to tell you about that lady that wants Frank to photograph her you should get the achievement once the call is over, if not then you fucked something up. there are 38 calls you have to receive from him if you want to count them.

Also sometimes he'll have multiple calls he'll do once a certain time comes, the Mark of the Sniper, Woman Who Didn't Make It, and Antique Lover all proc at the same time for example so if you get one of those and immediately rush to the Entrance Plaza and stay there for over an hour you might miss the other calls.

I just wish there was a consistent way to pull off the attack+jump moves, hammer throw and face crusher are fucking hilarious but I often jump like an asshole.

Wall kick is satisfying as hell when you land it, and I found out you ignore fall damage when you're in the wall kick pose, so you can just fling yourself off high places with no penalty.

You can also knee drop from any height to negate fall damage even if you miss a zombie.

DR1 is a fantastic game with loads of replayability, but it ranks as my favorite mostly because of nostalgia. DR2 was mechanically superior game, but lacked the same type of charm that DR1 had. It's always a matter of subjectivity.

alright, fine. In a lot of ways I find DR2 a step back, inputting special moves and survivor AI is infinitely better, to say otherwise would just be retarded.

But DR2 takes it in the ass when it comes to atmosphere seeing as it's western devs trying too hard to be whacky, so most of the cutscenes and story shit feels off or cringe inducing because of how hard they're aiming to be quirky.

I dislike the crafting system, it makes more items purely useless and just strictly crafting fodder, making for more busywork instead of just scavenging and making due with what you have on hand or improvising.

Throwing items is massively nerfed, the rate at which you throw things, the damage it does, and the distance they travel are really nerfed to the point of uselessness.

Gameplay is generally smoother in DR1 while DR2 and onwards are kinda awkward and chunky, I also dislike the BLOODY SCREEN SO REAL effects that started rearing their ugly head in the games after 1.

The ultimate unlockable items in DR2 and OTR pale in comparison to the Megaman Armor and RMB from DR1, and you can't even bring the proto buster into OTR's sandbox mode.

I still like DR2 and OTR, but I rank DR1 at the highest.

2 ran like shit when I had it on my 360 back in the day, but it's perfectly fine on the PC. 3 is a different story, and was really difficult to play on both the PC and XBONE. You can't beat MT Framework, though.

You don't need to continually eat in 72 hour mode, that is only for infinity mode. You can just sit in the security room for 72 hours and get on the chopper when it's time. My favourite type of run desu

You should get around to it. I love DR1's main story. Overtime gives you this sense of loneliness you never had in the previous days. So good.
