Those support convos also do things like reveal the character's past and why they act the way they do, like Nowi acting like a child because she knows she will outlive her human friends so she wants to enjoy herself as much as possible, or Inigo's douche acting being a way for him to hide the trauma caused by the murder of his parents and everyone he knew.

I'm not saying Awakening didn't have its moments, but though it may be the art style, the game did feel more anime like

The other two aren't sudden "OMG AHHH I'm GONNA DIE" moments, it was Ephraim talking to L'Arachel about his battle scars and her being scared away, and Forde talking about his armor, and Eirika's armor being too exposing, followed with her pretending to flash him, then quickly moving on to talk about her belief of movement over defense (which is accurate to her stats as a Great Lord over Ephraim, Roy, Hector, and Eliwood). They were a lot more subtle and in Eirika and forde's case explained story, again unlike lucina (who should be a serious determinded child from the future) screaming about the size of a bug. I feel they were trying to create more of a lovable cute girl out of someone who should be tough (something they didn't do with Eirika, for example). That screams anime to me at least.
