I don't understand the concept of filtering. Good content come from ANYTHING. Literally anything that might use some special trigger word can bring about good and useful content.

Filtering just seems like a pansy way of hiding from things one doesn't like and creating an almost hugbox-like environment for one's self.

I filter out threads that I know have a natural ability to not produce good content.
For example, "your favorite" threads.
People just go in there, post the name of a game or something, and leave.
No discussion, no good posts.

Usually I see in such threads people posting a favorite game and then sometimes they get replies asking about it or pointing out some element of the game that then generates discussion, or people actually explaining their favorites and going beyond just posting what they are.

I don't use filters because no matter how shitty a thread appears there's the off chance that there'll actually be some worthwhile discussion and/or porn. If someone shits up a thread I'd rather hide+report them rather than filter them out entirely.
