I see a lot of people debating about why dr1 is the best and they always seem to miss out on the biggest reason. Love went into dr1, love and hard work. Go around and look at the detail put into each store.. Look at the pictures and posters on the walls.. The details on the products..all of that detail makes the mall feel like an actual place and that's a special sort of comfy. A comfy that's rarely achieved. Dr2 doesn't do it and dr3 definitely doesn't do it.

The differences are small enough that there's basically no point in playing both, and OTR is objectively better, so no there isn't.

Gather up weapon combos and level up doing the story. I found some of the psychopaths to be a pain the first time around. Survivors are more competent to do Don't be afraid to gather them up and arm them.

I'm on my third play through, Got Clothes Horse and am doing PP Collector, Census Taker, Hella Copter, and Item Smasher.

I think it is possible to do everything in one save file, but not your very first game. Franks speed should be max leveled.

Also, don't be afraid to use the Save Status & Quit when the game gets hard. It's okay to start over with buffed stats, you've earned them.

Technically, no, since some survivors are scripted to die. You CAN save all survivors that are possible to save, so all the portraits that you get at the end of the game after Jesse, Brad, and Barnaby are lit up.

Not really suggested for your first run, which should be about exploring the controls, the weapons, and the mall.

Doing a run where you start at level 1 and save everyone is a fun challenge after the fact when you know everything to do.

Frank is the only canon you need.

You can just fuck around and ignore the story for your first run if you want, good way to learn the game and the map so you can have a good go in your 2nd playthrough

The appeal comes later when you level up to at least 10 to 15 when you notice how broken Frank becomes against the zombie hordes and psychos. It's a natural sense of progression that feels overpowered and with any luck you won't be able to put the controller down after that.

The mouse accelleration from 1 doesn't seem to be there, or isnt as bad in 2. The keyboard controls in 2 just make more sense. Right clicking to aim etc instead of having to press Q to aim in DR1.
