Finally got around to finishing Spirit of Justice. What are Cred Forums's thoughts on the final case in the game?

It definitely had one of the best moments in the series in my opinion.
The whole Dhurke was dead all along thing really caught me off guard. Apollo's reaction and the music playing legit sent shivers down my spine when I played it. Everything was just so perfectly done in that moment.

I really wanted to like Apollo, but for some reason I can't still bring myself to like him.
His personality is still basically a less funny and more rude Phoenix.
Sure, he was a total badass especially during the last case, but I can't shake this feeling that everything related to his backstory was pulled out of the dev's ass.
The lack of foreshadowing of all those plot twists related to him kinda left a sour taste.

That moment with Apollo slamming his head on the desk with that music playing just made the case for me.
This is definitely up there with Grand Turnabout for me. It was so nice to see Apollo finally get the case he deserved.

AAI2 is probably my favorite game in the entire series. And Gumshoe was at his best.

Some of the weakest games in the series were put out under Takumi's name. The weakest game Yamazuki has made is Investigations 1 and I'd still rate it more highly than JFA, AJ and PLxPW.

They should give Yamazaki full control over the IP and free Takumi to do more cool experimental games like Ghost Trick. That's where he really shines.

This game has some pretty funny moments. Most funny moment for me is Apollo constantly interrupting Trucy's trick and everyone getting pissed at him, including the Judge.

But Yamazaki is pretty much the series head at this point. Takumi is only working on DGS and we all know how that one turned out.

Literally any game is playable on 3DS, considering all of them are released on DS/3DS. The trilogy is also available in a special bundle specifically for 3DS but I dunno if it's recommended to play that over the DS versions or not.

AAI2 of course, and I'd put SoJ right behind it. I think they're the only games in the series that are consistently good, while the rest have their highs and lows.

Last case was just 2-4 and 3-5 stapled together. It had great moments, but the rest of the PW cast got shafted hard in favor of Apollo and the Sadmadhis. I know it was supposed to tie everything together but it really felt like they forced an entire game's worth of plot and character development into one case. Apollo should have went to Khura'in in an earlier case.

No, he best in late of 4 when he was a confident defense lawyer. Homeless man PW was a regression for his character, and the only real endearment to be had was with Trucy. Trucy herself was a pretty shitty sidekick, while it seemed Gavin was the real sidekick. Gavin himself being boring as fuck, even if he was a just a perfect nice guy. Ema was depressed and so acted like a constant bitch.

The cast of 4 was one of the worst in the series. Given how great 6 is, I don't think they're unredeemable characters. They're just handled horribly.

First case was standard first case fare for the most part.
Second, Third and Fourth cases were tons of fun.
Fifth case pretty much set in stone that I personally don't give a shitabout these increasingly over-the-top legal world destroying conspiracy epics that encompass every AA game lately. I just wanna solve mysteries with these dumb lead characters, all three of them are good when given their chance to shine at this point.
DLC was a good laugh, you can tell that the devs had fun making it. DD's dlc case was better though in my opinion.

2 = 3 > DLC > 4 > 5 > 1 for me, basically. Very solid game overall, even the weaker cases were pretty fun I thought.

DD was an everyone game. Apollo got a tragic backstory. Phoenix was the main attorney. Athena got her own case and was the focus of the last case.

I like Athena because she's different from the other two.

Either that or another original character with gimmick powers to add to Sonic the Lawyer's group of colorful friends.

The only two things I disliked about 6-2

1. GRAMARYES DINDU NUFFIN!!!
Trucy was a great character in this case and it was a watershed moment for her but I hated that it tried to pass Magnifi off as doing nothing wrong. We know for a fact that they are UNIVERSALLY scumbags. "Do you really hate us that much??" fucking yes, of course someone they pissed off is going to come back for revenge, even if he was retarded and got butthurt that they said he was shit at magic.

2. Did Trucy forget Nick is the one that raised her? The games seem to be pushing her toward the Gramarye pedigree and idolizing Zak even though he is a turbofaggot who ditched her and Nick is really the one she should consider her real father.

Other than that, great case, awesome ruse cruise, and Retinz' theme is one of the best character themes in a while.

Perceive sucks but i don't have much problem with the Mood Matrix and the Divination Seance.

Mood Matrix at leasts gives you pretty illustrations while the Seance is video testimony but better.

Athena as a playable character is plenty likeable. I like how different she is from Nick and Apollo. They did well by making her press more and lean on the witnesses more than the two guys did, she has a completely different style in court, and it's refreshing playing as a rookie again.

Simon is a god tier assistant and his dynamic with Athena is amazing. He carried the case for sure but it was a fun one regardless.

Not having an Investigation phase really hurt it though, it would have been fine if it tied into the plot of the game since 6-3 and 6-5 are long as fuck (think 3-4 just being a trial but connecting to Dhalia), but it was just filler in the purest sense. I really like investigation banter, imagine an entire segment of that with Athena and Blackquill? Take my fucking money.

Yeah, I loved that too. It reminded me of older transformations where the character didn't change too much. And his breakdown was great, too.

I like to think that Trucy's focus was on keeping the legacy of the Gramaryes alive. Even with their dark past, they were amazing performers that entertained loads of people. She wanted to keep THAT part alive, hence why the book and the smiling motto was so important to her, and why she tries so hard to carry on their legacy.

With Mr. Reus, I think Trucy was right about the reason he was kicked from the troupe wasn't his skill but the way he approached magic and entertainment in general.

I haven't played AJ in years though. So I probably forgot the extent of big of asshole they are, this is just how I felt after playing 6-2.

DD was her (and Simon, assuming he is important now too) backstory but was also a bridge game for Apollo and Nick getting settled back in as The Boss.

I feel like 6-4 is a bridge case for her if they want to explore her and Simon more in AA7. You've seen that she's still a rookie, and both of them have to figure out how to move forward, since literally their entire lives up to this point revolved around each other and the incident with Athena's mother.

My only complaint with Reus' reveal was his animations weren't as varied as his original appearance was. All the animations he did do were very well done, but there wasn't nearly as much.

That was definitely what they were going for, but it's hard to look past just how much of a colossal asshole the Gramarye's are, especially Magnifi
