I should have just played the Japanese version of IV. Is there any way to import saves on the 3DS? I played through the English version because I was getting lazy, but if I can just import a 100% Japanese save and maybe track down the DLC for easy n' easy money and levels, I might just blow through that version real quick since I'm going to play Japanese IV Final.

Str/Luc late game is pretty crazy since you start critting everything.
Mag for abusing weaknesses and press turns, although it takes a while to get going.
Dex for full gunner.

Weapons in general aren't that mandatory. Status and Elemental bullets are more useful for both STR and DEX builds.

8-4 is kind of bogeyman. They do really good work, but they're freelance and that means they're at the will of whoever is in charge of them. Flynn on War first playthrough without DLC-shit is literally impossible. One his Antichton devastating entire party of 90+ lvl demons instantly, you can't buff yourself or debuff him properly since -kaja and first part of the battle is total RNGfest even if you will be smart enough to not provocate him to spam antichton from the first turn.

Apocalypse takes place during Neutral after Flynn becomes Tokyo's champion.
You do have to kill them at one point. You can also side with one but they count as early ends. The actual routes are extensions of Neutral where you either team up with everyone or kill everyone.
One of the routes do have Walter and Jonathan come back for a bit and team up with Flynn and Isabeau while you and your demons form another party.

Toki's instant kills help a ton in random encounters.
Bobo has heals and buffs, Asahi also heals which leaves you free to attack with all of your demons.

Hallelujah and Gaston are only useful in a few specific situations, and I never used Nozomi.

Slave girl is decent because she can jump in an instakill things if it's possible.
I've avoided several horde battles thanks to her bullshit.

If you're running dex, you want GUN skills from demons, eg. Tathlum shot.

Pair that shit with charge and it's basically the same as being a phys build. You'd use 'shoot' over the normal attack, but the gun skills that use MP will be infinitely stronger.

Maybe it was alien face first. But in any case, if you choose to join either the game ends and you get to watch what is pretty much the same ending as in IV for each side.

There's some plot important database entries that are DLC, but they're free.
Most of the DLC is just extra stuff not pertaining to the story, but I think one of them goes into a bit more detail about the history of Mikado and shows why some Mikado people became demons back in IV.

Dagda makes it really clear that you never really had a choice. Which is why he kills you anytime you try to fight against the plot, Paper Mario style

It's also weird how you're like the rookie hunters who can't be trusted to do anything, but then you can totally break out a super powerful demon from prison.

This kind of plot advancement irks me, too. I mean, it's necessary in some respect to kickstart some character interaction, give the player character weight in the affairs of the world, but the fact it's a setup, a negative that you get scorned for, and you can't defy it and walk your own path really kills suspension of disbelief to some degree.
