Jak vs Ratchet vs Sly

Which is the better series?

The one with vehicular combat racing

not the one with the dyed goatee that's for sure

Ratchet>Sly>Jak>>>>>>>>>Most other PS2 games

Jak is ugly

Jak and Daxter > R&C series > Sly Series > Jak 2 and 3

Ape Escape

WINNER

>Series so amazing it even had Pokemon voice actors and Metal Gear Solid crossover.

J2 and 3 aren't that bad.

Who would win in a fight?

I think nobody
Now I can't stop thinking about All Stars

IMO Sly had the best game but overall series goes R&C, probably why its still being made and the other two are dead.

Sly II is great.

Sony Smash was a mess of a game, it's so bad nobody made porn of it and crossovers can do a lot of great porn.

(Discounting things made past the PS2 era)

Jak & Daxter chased after Rockstar's success, ended up having a very rushed and poorly designed sequel, with Jak 3 being good but not great.

Ratchet and Clank is solid. Most of its games are good but boy oh boy are they rehashes.

Sly Cooper is great. Its sequels add things and refines its gameplay well. Best trilogy of them all.

Ratchet 1000%

Sly Cooper would technically.

His abilities have been even weirder than either Jak or Ratchet, including the ability to just remove everyone from the map because why not.

He can also slow down time like the other two, and create black holes by running in circles.

Sly upgrades are fucking weird.

I personally like Jak the best but I can admit that Ratchet is the better series overall.

Sometimes you must see things throught an objective point of view, even if it's different from your subjective point of view, which isn't a case for a lot of critics these days.

If you give me a Jak 4 in the same vein as Jak & Daxter then I'm sold. Otherwise ratchet > gta jak andreas > sly pooper

>Ape Escape 4 never
>The series isn't ever platformer anymore because of the out of genre spin offs that ruined it
>No digital release expect for AE1 in japan only and the pal version of AE2
>No remake except for a PSP port
>That god awful version of Spike in PSASBR

Ape Escape is a good exemple of a raped franchise.

Jak 4 will never happen and if it did, it would be shit.

Pretty much.
Naughty Dog don't know how to make fun games anymore. Just set piece filled review bait.
I'd rather Jak 4 not exist if it were to be done by modern ND.

That's a given, but one can always wish.

I can image a reboot being done in the vein of the new God Of War.

And also with Ape Escape

>Professor and Spike are turned into a dramatic adult/kid duo like in TLOU and new GOW.

Which series had the best soundtrack?

True, at least the online is still active, a bit, even when there's still many Kratos players.

It's still up, even after that final patch that made things worse?

R&C2 > Jak 2 > Jak 3 > R&C1 > Jak 1 > R&C3 > ACiT > QfB > Gladiator > ToD > Jak X > Sly 1

I didn't play the rest of the Sly games.

Faggot with shit taste detected.

Yes, I still see Kats killing the shit out of me, and Dontes with infinites.

>Jak 2 & 3
>better than Jak 1
off yourself

They're OP as fuck.

what are you talking about there was a ratchet game this year and sly 4 killed the series

>sly 4 killed the series
I don't get the hate for Sly 4.
It wasn't that bad.

>Sly 5 never

Is the movie still going?

none, they're all furfaggotry

Can't deal with any of them, then there's Radecs and Kratos annoying on 2 vs 2

What about Ape Escape? it's like an anti furry series.

R&C>Sly>>>>>Jak

Never understood the love for Jak. It doesn't do anything particularly well. Maybe the graphics and animation were impressive in its time.

Yeah but who wants to see any of the sony characters having sex?

Who we got? Nariko? Fat Princess? Fucking Sac boi?

>ape escape

yyyeeeesssssssssss

Don't forget Kat

Ratchet's the most consistently good.

Jak 1 is a good game but holy fuck is it overrated. I think it's the most overrated game that I still enjoy a lot.

It's just to short and to easy. I can finish it in one sitting without dying. 2 and 3's difficulty level where much better and forced you to really use your brain (unlike fucking Sly 1 that had a pop up telling you how to do fucking everything). Did you know Jak 2 is a very easy game if you just realise you are meant to use the hoverboard everywhere? Even the water slums level becomes easy as fuck with it. Once you figure that out the game becomes 10/10 tier levels of fun.

Jak 1 is just over way to quickly. Don't get me wrong, it's a 9/10 game easily, but 2 and 3 really improved on the formula and became their own thing instead of just being another generic (but really well done) platformer. Jak and Daxter 1 is the quintessential platformer, but almost too much so. 2 and 3 really gave the series a feeling of it's own instead of being an amalgamation of every platformer before it.

Besides, 2 and 3 also had a really comfy cartoony atmosphere that was a bit darker in tone, and no it's not edgy, but it was something rarely seen in platformers at the time and I thought it was really cool.

I think naughty dog could be trusted with Jak 4 and it'd actually be quite interesting to see, what with how they're tech wizards and all that

>Not posting Natsumi

>but boy oh boy are they rehashes.
Classic Ratchet shares an uncanny resemblance to Classic Sonic, down to the people preference for 2 (and for some reason I like the first ones best). Both were built on the previous one's shell and code, and rarely recycled some concepts and behaviors from the previous chapter (Sonic is a little more guilty of this, but the gameplay was far more simple).

>R/C1
>Better than any other R/C game
I'm being baited right? Nobody has shit taste this bad right?

dlc that was added too late for porn hype

>Not wanting to see Kat doing /ss/ with Spike

This game needs a sequel with Carmelita, Lammy, Yumi and a draq outfit for Spike.

Ratchet and Clank is the best from the 3, it managed to innovate in the platformer genre and almost created a genre on its own.

Jak & Daxter was alright and while what they did with 2 was interesting to say the least they kinda shat the bed with the edginess abd insane difficulty spikes.

Sly is furshit.

By the way Spyro > Crash Bandishit

Imagine Candy Kong catching Spike only to fuck him haha

>Sly is furshit
user they are all furshit

And there's the strafe-fag, Ratchet's analog to Sonic spindash-fags. The first game maybe wasn't that much action focused as the sequels (Deadlocked is one of my favorites), but it easily beats the sequels in everything else: art direction, level design, music, plot, and even some of the weapons and gadgets were a little more inventive. Also the fact that the enemies don't become bullet sponges (and early weapons don't suddenly become useless) makes up for a more tight strategy play.

So Jak vs Ratchet thread?

This, but I like using Zeus, so I don't know if I would complain about the later
>His super 3 can actually kill your 3 lives in online if the Zeus user hits in the very first second

>That midriff

>he only played R&C1 for the first time when the HD collection game out and his casual faggot feelings where hurt when he couldn't adjust himself out of casual ways

R&C1 is fantastic.

>not liking Logging Site Eudora
>not loving the entirety of Blackwater City
>not enjoying the fuck out of Outpost X11
>he didn't like Metropolis

There are so many god tier levels in R&C1 it would be faster to name the few that weren't that great to be honest. Anyways what you need to get is that R&C1 is more of a pure platformer than a combat game. The more R&C turned to combat and strafing the worse it got really, with the exception of R&C2 which struck a perfect fucking balance between the two. I wont deny the upgrade to the combat 2 added wasn't great, but 3 went to far into being a shooter. 3 was still a solid game though.

Jak and Daxter world is populated by "humans" plus it had great waifus.

Ratchet and Clank is populated by Aliens, furshit characters were rare and made sense.

Sly is just furrybait. I mean look at pic related. It's like something that came out straight out of a degenerate devian art.

Jak series was the best. Wasn't really a fan of Ratchet and Sly. They just weren't as varied and story rich by comparison.

God the art style in Sly 4 is so awful.

>Playstation """"""""""""all-stars"""""""""""

Sly Cooper

Sly 2 was the shit.

yeah I mean it's almost as if this game was for kids or something

It has PlayStation in the name, so it should be clear that these characters aren't popular outside of PlayStation, besides, nothing wrong with adding obscure characters when they're better than popular characters like Nathan Drake.

Sir Daniel

And Jumping Flash

Ratchet & Clank GC and UYA
>Best gameplay

Jak II & 3
>Best story and world

I think it's just that Playstation iconic characters aren't as iconic as Nintendo characters. The game series don't last as long, most are ony a one gen thing so they tend to get replaced and forgotten.

It's just that it's hard to compete with Nintendo and their characters that have been around for the last 30 year and shoved into all Nintendo's games.

user

they're all furshit

>Jak 3
>best story
Not with that ending it isn't

Does everything have to be about competition? why can't they make a crossover about themselvels and not ripping off Nintendo? Sony is just fucking retarded.

I doubt they wanted to compete with Smash Bros, it's just that when you do that kind of game there are some things that simply work well and that is the Smash formula, it's easy to take it and make some minor tweaks and have a functional and fun game. Comparison was simply innevitable and it got inevitably overshadowed by Smash. It was sort of bound to fail.

>The game series don't last as long, most are ony a one gen thing so they tend to get replaced and forgotten.
I don't agree that they get forgotten. We're talking about them right now.

But I think it's better than Sony's first-party IPs have their run and are put to rest.

Mario and Zelda wear thin if you ask me. I'm tired of them.

It'd be easier to take 18 Mario games if there were more between them, but Nintendo seems content with letting all their other IPs wither away and atrophy from misuse, so when they're finally brought back, they fuck it up and nobody likes it (Star Fox, Other M).

I'm glad I grew up a PlayStation kid. If I were deep in Nintendo franchises I'd probably be pissed.

I mean, sure, it hurts that I'll never have a Jak 4 and Sly 5 is seeming like a far-off dream, but this is better than having so many of them that they stop being special.

It could have been a 3d fighter, or an adventure game, or even something like a webshow or webcomic just to show characters interactions or something, then again the studio behind the game had a smelly indian as main director.

This is my opinion as well.

Mario lives because of the fact that not only he's the "king of gaming" but also a strong pop culture icon, meaning he must live for the sake of fame and money, even when he gets stale.

Look at the Simpsons, was once one of the greatest shows and it's still running, despite being a piece of shit.

Then there's plenty of video game icons who died like Crash Bandicoot and Duke Nukem.

>character is furry

Jak and Daxter>Sly>Ratchet>Shit tier Jak sequels where Jak is an edge lord

Imagine a female Sly Cooper.

>Shit tier Jak sequels where Jak is an edge lord
Retard who turned off Jak II at I'M GONNA KILL PRAXIS detected

>Cool and interesting post
>from reddit

I mostly agree with you but I personally thought 3 was the worst in the series. It had way too many useless gimmicks, didn't have the difficulty of 2 and desert driving was cancer. It felt like a big step back compared to 2.

You honestly believe 3 is worse than Lost Frontier?

It may be the worst of the trilogy, but i wouldn't say it's necessarily bad. It had some nice mission variety and better fleshed out environments compared to 2. A bit too much driving shit in it though. Also the platforming severely lacked outside of the temple and that mountain in the middle of the desert iirc. Desert driving itself was pretty neat.

it failed because its shit to play
this game needed health bars instead of that super shit baka

yeah but 3d mario is actually good

...

Sly 2>ratchet 3>A crack in time>the rest

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using reddit.

I never really understood this, their only similarity was that they were platformers

>jak and Daxter was a collectathon-turned-gta
>sly cooper was a stealth game
>ratchet and clank I never played

Why are you still here? Just to spread cancer?

I never play Lost Frontier (thankfully) so I have no comment on that. But out of the games I played, yeah, 3 was the worse.

I didn't like the desert driving because it felt clunky and unintuitive at times. The final boss where you had to use the desert buggy was an utter pain in the ass and probably the worst part in the entire series. I dunno if Lost Frontier could have topped that crap.

I also thought that when it came to platforming that they added a lot of pointless gimmicks. Aside from the wings, which you only get near the end of the game, light powers added nothing to the game. Time stopping was just a way of saying "alright, use this so you can platform through this area!" and light powers was just "use this to destroy this object or enemy." There never any inventive use of the power and it could have been replaced by using dark powers to get through objectives or not even requiring them at all.

I thought the setting was neat, though. The desert city is pretty cool and I liked the war-torn version of the city from 2. Although frankly, I thought 2 was just better because it played to its strengths (platforming) better than 3 did and 3 just had way too many mini-games/gimmick bullshit (although admittedly they could be fun).

Sly. Literally only correct answer.

>their only similarity was that they were platformers
That's enough.

On the PSX, Crash and Spyro were like a duo, competitive and friendly at the same time, largely due to both Naughty Dog and Insomniac sharing an office building at Universal.

They shared tech to help each other out, and they would hide demos for each others' games in their own.

ND and Insom moved on to Jak and Ratchet, and Sly became the third guy. I think one of the Ratchet games had a Sly 2 demo which is what cemented it, but it always felt like Sucker Punch was a natural third.

Sly 2 is GOAT. Prove me wrong

Let's see.....

>J&D
First game is a pretty good 3D collectathon platformer with a lot of TECHNOLOGY for its time
Second still has the decent 3D collectathon parts but they're divided up in a GTA-lite that's fucking terrible. It's a bad game.
3 upped the platforming to GTA ratio but also added some really poor vehicle combat and felt sort of jank overall. Still pretty fun.
X was an okay kart racer that made no fucking sense with the established lore of the setting but was still pretty fun.
Lost Frontier is a fucking insult to anyone who wasted the time to play it.
>Sly
First game is a pretty decent stealth-action-platformer with a fun cast and story.
Second improved on the first in literally every way and is legit great.
Third was a worse version of 2 that was still enjoyable overall.
Four was...not great. It was better than 3 in many ways but it sorta fucked up the tone/writing pretty bad and is arguably worse as a result.
>R&C
First is an okay action-platformer and great humour.
Second is a pretty good action-platformer with too much padding, still has great humour
Three is a REALLY good action-platformer with great humour and lots of good content
Deadlocked is a really fun co-op TPS with great humour that is still pretty fun solo
Tools of Destruction is a very mediocre action-platformer that is so bland in every way it's incredible they were able to suck so much of the series' personality out of it
Quest for Booty is pretty much a poor expansion pack to the above
Crack in Time is a very good action-platformer with some okay humour and actually made the clank sections fun
Into the Nexus is a pretty good action-platformer that is too short and a bit of a technical mess, still has okay humour
The remake is a great action-platformer that is a tad short and unfortunately had the story literally ripped fucking out of it in order to avoid spoiling the movie. Like its straight up missing most of the plot and its EXTREMELY obvious. Still very fun though

R&C > Sly >> J&D

>Four was...not great.
Fuck you I loved it

You forgot the Daxter psp game mate

And for R&C you forgot Gladiator

I haven't payed attention to the series much, All I knew about were Jak 1 through 3 and X. Also started recently playing 1. What's Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier like?

Deadlocked is Gladiator

Reminder that the best games in each series is the first

Never played them so I didn't include them.

And Deadlocked is just the NA name for Gladiator.

Only applies to jak and daxter tbqh

>"What is Sly 2?"

>What's Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier like?
Have you ever had an abortion

>Jak 2 is GTA lite
Pretty worthless as a criticism honestly. It definitely borrows from GTA, but not much beyond being open world and including vehicles. It also had much more platforming compared to 3, considering areas outside Haven City like the Water Pump.

>leaving out "that's fucking terrible", aka the important part of the comparison and criticism

2 is has far, far more running about and doing worthless bullshit in Haven than 3 does when you look at it as a ratio compared to the platforming.

For the (you) 's

you're doing a fine enough job already.

i found jak games to be more iconic and immersive, with ratchet games having more solid gameplay

love both to death though

nononononono

not R&C 1

The series that still has games being made.

Spyro (originals) > R&C > Crash (originals) > Ape Escape > Jak = Sly = Gex > Croc

And even Croc was nice.

Fair enough but Sly 1 and Sly 2 are very close in quality, mostly because they're pretty different games

While I agree that art is atrocious, you obviously sound as weak and easy to trigger (sexualized or not) as the average Tumblrtard over men.

Grow some balls mang.

Ratchet by far, the games are much more consistent and of higher combat.

I'd say Jak is in second but only because the 3 edgy games, first game is bland collectathon

Sly I'd say is the worst, first game was alright, second game was great, other games were shit.
