Because it's fucking retarded

Extremely hard to do in a satisfying way and overall becomes weeaboo shit, see GunZ/Duel.

Fuck off outta here

it was called The Specialists
you missed out on some good times user
something only a PC mod could give that any dev would fuck up

Max Payne is the best it gets

Does this count?

Anyone else think Equilibrium was cool when they were younger but watched it recently and realized it was complete shit?

What is with this trope of two characters holding a gun to each other and not shooting? Wouldn't your first immediate instinct be to pull the trigger before the other guy does?

stranglehold was an attempt, only it was more like max payne if anything

but i agree, i wouldn't utlizing buttons for gun attaccks at close range, or a sequence of buttons like a combo to execute sick looking auto room clear. maybe make the button combo about timing so execution takes some sort of skill. something along those lines

i wouldnt mind***

100% correct

Double action: electric boogaloo is alright

surprisingly awesome game

never saw equilbrium, but yeah, there's a ton of movies i thought were awesome 6 or so years ago if not longer ago, that i just cant watch now

marvel movies have become shit right before my eyes if i can speak frankly tho

I thought it was hilarious the first time I watched it, but I was already quite old by then. It's really quite amusing if you think of it as a comedy instead of trying to take it seriously.

Shooting someone right in the head like that can trigger their muscles to automatically clench and pull the trigger causing your own death.

It's still cool.
In fact I like it better now that I realize the main character didn't get punked in the end by some stupid lackey like how it would normally go down.

But the premise is still pretty silly overall.

I saw it for the first time a few years ago, I thought it was alright. Not sure what people hate about it. It's an action flick, it's not supposed to be deep.

>marvel movies have become shit right before my eyes if i can speak frankly tho
Do you mean this like watching Marvel movies now compared to then feels like crap? Or that each new Marvel movie gets progressively more shit?

If something that simple if your definition of "gun fu" you can probably finds quite a few games that allow it. It's just a basic visual variation to fast, constant forward movement + the act of shooting

Something actually elaborate a la Equilibrium I've never seen (done halfway decently)

has anyone actually played stranglehold recently? i remember having fun with it way back when it came out, is it still fun?

DMC3 with Gunslinger style should float your goat

I always went double sawed of shotguns and nothing else for max agility. That game was so fucking fun, too bad it was infested with roleplayers.

>not playing the greatest TPS ever right now

this

Not really.

Max Payne 2 with the Chow Yun-Fat mod is still the best John Woo game.

That scene can be recreated 1:1 in Max Payne 3 if, in the airport level, you shootdodge onto the baggage carousel and shoot without ever getting up

You niggas ain't posting the best user of Gun fu?

FEAR is also pretty good

autistic realism faggots in shooters

Do people like Equilibrium? I finally got around to watching it last week after hearing it name-dropped over and over again assuming it's some sort of cult classic. That shit was fucking laughable, guys.

desu might just reinstall max payne 2 anyway that game was the real shit

You should try SUPERHOT. It's a lot of fun and executes idea really well.

it's a good movie if you go into it expecting a really cheesy movie with matrix-tier gunkata.

progressively more shit, they're like episodes of saturday morning power rangers

green screen: the saga

>tfw john woo has been shit since he sold his soul to hollywood
>tfw the era of hong kong action movies are long dead

It's basically a cheesy Fahrenheit

Because devs prefer to make cover based, over the shoulder shooters to cater to the masses and folks who want a more down to earth depiction of gun combat-it's a sad state of affairs especially speaking as someone who is a complete sucker for that style of gun play. Hell, even the shooting segments in Sleeping Dogs, a game that begs for over the top John Woo gunplay, is just typical cover shooting with the ability to vault over cover in slow motion. Most games I've played that had that style of gunplay never disappointed me (Max Payne, Dead to Rights, Total Overdose, ect.) and I'd love to see this type of gunplay make a comeback.

I was mad hyped for this game when it first announced. It was like my dream game. It wasn't perfect but I spent so many hours playing that game and enjoying every minute of it. The fact that we didn't get a sequel is a damn crime.

Red Cliff with Takeshi Kaneshiro was good

I've really wanted to make a gun kara movie.

But how would you go about making a character duel wield and your in control of each arms individual movements? The only way I could see it is only the animation of the character does gun kata. The character will do wicked animations depending on how you aim your weapon the camera wouldn't be attached to the character so when you turn around and fire the character will spin and fire.

stranglehold
10.000 bullets
dmc3
vanquish

what else do you have

Hey fuck you. I watch Equilibrium at least twice a year. it's one of my favorite movies. it's a near perfect flick.

Was that problem with this game? It seems too fast and there isn't any consequences to any of your actions. Or I should say there isn't a point to what actions you make.

Hey, how's the ending to a better tomorrow? I got half way through and their wasn't enough shootouts with gun kata. Once Fat got his leg shot I knew the movie was over.

>Why is gun-fu so underrepresented in videogames?

>FEAR
>Max Payne series
>Strangehold
>Vanquish

And to a certain extent, the Kowloon level in Black Ops 1.

If you could make the perfect gun fu game, describe it with its core mechanics.

The ending was pretty good. Of course, it doesn't get as grandiose compared to his later movies but it was still a solid shoot out all the same.

You should also check out Hard Target. Not as good as his Hong Kong work, but it has some great action scenes.

>TFW you'll never shoot at someone with your gun upside down and finish off said guy with a round house kick.

>watching the same movie twice a year every year
do you have memory problems?

literally HOW do you manage to kill that much officers

>he doesn't do LOTR marathons every few months
wow what a pleb

It's completely fucking retarded and full of plot holes (nobody has any emotions but the black dude is strongly career-motivated somehow) but damn if it isn't entertaining to watch

He didn't manage to kill any and instead got killed himself.

I watched Collateral five times this year alone.

Suck a cock my man

it's more special if you only do it yearly

>the "Im edgy" comment
OK

Man I remember playing a half life multiplayer mod where they had a gun fu mechanic. Game was fun as fuck. It feels like not too many games have capitalized on good gun fu besides max payne and a handful of other games. My dream game would be gun fu with mechs, FUCK!

Western devs can't make good games, and they're the majority making games with guns.

Give me some good movies to watch.

I think the only game I've ever played with a gun kata skill tree was doomrl.

I don't know why RPGs with guns (wait is that just mass effect) always manage to fuck up weapon specialization. Rifle specialization should turn you into a health regen call of duty man, pistol specialization should turn you into tequila with all sorts of evasion options and firing while evading and big hollywood gun specialization should let you be a rambo/arnold kind of cocky asshole that tanks and smokes cigars.

All of John Woo's stuff with Chow Yun-Fat
Most of Ringo Lam's '80s - early '90s output (Full Contact is his last essential one)
Johnnie To's "The Big Heat"
Desperado

Check out John Woo's Hong Kong stuff if you haven't already. If so, here some others that are good.

Desperado
The Replacement Killers
Last Man Standing
Princess Madam
Tiger on Beat
Legacy of Rage
Face/Off

Movies with gunkata? Ultraviolet.

Also to add to this Pom Pom and Hot Hot, which is a highly amusing (Albeit unintentionally) attempt at doing Heroic Bloodshed on a tiny budget.

youtube.com/watch?v=PdO53IC6lZo

>GunZ
>not satisfying
>not good
Fuck off

>Tiger on Beat

THANK YOU! I always bring this up to people and like, one guy's actually heard of it. Chow Yun-Fat's rope and shotgun trick always cracks me up.

>But how would you go about making a character duel wield and your in control of each arms individual movements?

VR

You more or less described my dream game. I always wanted to see an action movie style RPG where you can select a class that's modeled after various action movie stuff like you'd have the arnold/stallone style class which is just brute force and big automatic weapons, a Chow Yun Fat class where you can do stylish, double gun stuff and a marksmanship class that can let you do Collateral/John Wick shit. If someone made a game that did that concept justice then it would be one of the best games ever.

youtu.be/fAXTWZ-U2iQ?t=1m37s

It would probably be hard to implement control wise if you need to aim 2 guns in different directions at the same time.
Most devs would rather just implement bullet time, let you jump in slowmo, and call it a day.

Gungrave

buckshot RNG. fucking stupid mechanic.

What we need is a mouse/keyboard hybrid and you need two of them to simulate dual aiming. Someone make this already!

>mouse/keyboard hybrid
pay up. goy

game?

MICKEY MOUSE!

Wouldn't Move controllers and a VR headset be sufficient?
Something like this combined with Mirror's Edge/Stranglehold mechanics youtube.com/watch?v=DsnG8I_3XXI

game in evo when

Vanguard Princess

>two little cloths cover his nipples
This looks like a rule 63 design lol

>blaming the Jews for your small penis
