So am I the only human being on the planet that actually enjoyed the action Resident Evil games?

So am I the only human being on the planet that actually enjoyed the action Resident Evil games?

Mercenaries mode was always the most fun of it, but it's not like the story mode was unbearable especially with a friend.

I was always of the opinion that the games could stand to be better, but weren't absolute gutter trash just because they weren't like the first three games in the series.

that being said, I don't know how to feel about RE7.

I see almost nothing but praise for RE4, which it rightly deserves. I can't speak for any other game in the series, but 4 is fucking fantastic.

How about you just stfu and go out and get a life.
Your post is literal autism kid.

People arbitrarily love RE4 but hate 6 and Revelations 2 which are both incredibly entries into the series and every bit as good as 4.

I can understand the hatred for 5 and the first Revelations games because of how awkward and clunky they are, but if not by 6 then by Revelations 2 the devs had it pretty much figured out.

Revelations 2's Raid Mode was fucking fantastic and I'd like to see something like it in RE7 but that's not too likely.

Yeah, you're the only guy who likes Resident Evil 4, a game considered one of the best of all time by pretty much everyone.

5 and 6 are more up for debate though

Not even. I really enjoy RE4, 5, 6, REv and REv2. While neither of them managed to completely capture the atmosphere of the original titles they're all still decent in their own right for various reasons.

I disliked RE5 and 6 largely because of the forced co-op shit.

Also pretty much all the bosses in RE6 were stupid and bland as fuck and nowhere near as interesting as they were in literally every other game

I agree about the co-op. That shit shouldn't be written into the story like it is.

I liked Haos and fly form Simmons.

Yeah, RE7 definitely seems like a mistake.

Contrarians and hipsters love to say it's shit on here.

>RE7 definitely seems like a mistake
Capcom wouldn't stop though, I mean anyone with a brain will know UC bombed yet Capcom still pushed it

Better than turning it into a shitty outlast clone for the YT audience

>am i the only one who enjoyed re4 and after
Talk to a human holy shit

RE4 is fantastic. Even if it did "ruin" Resident Evil it's still a great action game with infinite replayability.
RE5 is fun with a friend but it did have some moments no one likes going through again like the Jeep segment followed by a lame fight with el gigante. Mercenaries is a blast.
I can't bring myself to like RE6 even as a stand alone action game. The controls are cool but everything else was a failure. Level design is terrible, bosses are uninteresting, enemy design is boring, inventory is nothing special, characters weren't likable, action sequences went overboard but not in a good way, etc. It's a waste of a good control scheme.

Rev2 is my favorite RE since 4. I feel like it's a step in the right direction. I hope Rev3 has similar controls and better animation. It could be goat.

I don't know what to think about RE7. I just don't.

>enemy design is boring
Fucking Ustanak, man. How did they think his design was at all creepy or intimidating?

I definitely enjoyed playing re6 with my friends.
Shit was fucking retarded but i laughed of my ass at it.
It's like watching a 90's action movie.

I assume they do because whenever somebody says they're going back to "old school survival horror" they ALWAYS mean "I'm gonna make a clone of Resident Evil 4."

First was , but now it has gotten to the point where people are actually convinced that the games were ALWAYS like Resident Evil 4. Where even a game with 1998 in the title claiming to bill to 90's nostalgia is just a clone of Resident Evil 4.

So many people like Resident Evil 4 that barely anybody knows anything existed before it.

The word survival horror only meas Resident Evil 4. Words have no meaning. REMEMBER ALL THOSE OVER THE SHOULDER SHOOTERS IN 1998!?

The old games don't exist to 99.999 percent of people. And nothing like them are made anymore. Meanwhile, over the shoulder shooters are still popular over a decade on.

There's some outcry from people who remember the old days, but don't pretend you're the one who's alone.

Fuck, at least Resident Evil 7 looks like a horror game. Not the kid I want, but a horror game.

*First was The Evil Within

>Re4 is widely considered best game of series even if it wasn't a "true" RE game

>"hey guys am I the only one to like this really popular game?"

>The old games don't exist to 99.999 percent of people
Not true, obviously.

>defending RE7 in any capacity
Fuck you.

In the series? I regularly see it heralded as one of the greatest games of all time.

I sorry I don't want to want another Umbrella Chronicles, user.

I think the thing keeping 4 afloat whereas 5 and 6 don't is that RE4, while being more action, still had some tense and spooky moments. The castle was ominous, the sewers were as well, the island was fucking horrifying with the regenerators. RE5 was a straight over the shoulder action game, and 6 kicked it up a CUHRAAZY notch and made it a cheesy B-tier action movie. I can't remember a single tense or spooky moment in either 5 or 6, but 4 I can, albeit less than the prior games.

Oh yes, because the direction the series was going with the action games was so great. Umbrella Corps is truly a masterpiece of the medium.

I'd like a fixed camera over a first person one, sure, but anything at this point is better than another Umbrella Corps.

Most people love RE5 and RE6

>tfw your first RE was 4

At least your games get sequels and copycats. What did Outbreak get? Left for Dead?

Fuck.

At least Umbrella Corps has the decency to be a spin-off.

>Guy transforms into a fucking t-rex
>Pretty neat but get sad thinking that this should've been in a rebooted Dino Crisis.

>tfw it was literally left for dead

Too bad RE4 didn't have that.

How is re4 gamecube emulation? I've played in many versions, but not in the original one. Is it worth bothering?

0 reason to play it over Wii.

Each version is better than the last and there's no reason to play previous versions.

Get the latest one available.

Ok, thanks.

They were good action games but they didn't have anything in common with the original survival horror games.

Think about it like this: the reason the action resident evil games were so hated by resident evil fans is the same reason MG:Survive is being hated on so much by the fans of MG.

It's not the same game at all, and it's confusing why it has the resident evil label on it at all.

that being said, they were okay games, I liked them, but I was always kinda bitter that they kinda stopped being scary.

My advise is to forget RE7 is a "resident evil" game, and all that means to you, and just look at it as a new game in it's own right, because aside from name, it kinda seems like it is.

I legitimately don't see how the RE games past 2 are any scarier than 4.

Still I find it very appropriate that Resident Evil reflects that zombie movies are no longer scary, just general action movies with an aesthetic.

At least RE was always ridiculous.

I can't understand what people like about Resident Evil dead. The combat was always boring.

RE4 was an excellent game, on par with the first three imo because it was just a damn fine game with excellent pacing, characters, gameplay, and level design despite its changes to the 'series formula'. I thought 5, however, was just okay and I didn't like 6 at all. The original trilogy is far superior to 4/5/6 when taken as a whole but individually I think 4 is my favorite RE game followed by 1 and then 3 based on each game's individual merits rather than what they accomplish as a series.

That being said, I actually am pretty excited for 7. I don't see any point in hating the game before it's even out. The demo was kind of cool but obviously there's still a lot including the combat, most of the world, and whatever the fuck the story is about which we haven't seen yet. It is what it is, it'll either be the next RE4 and most people will love it and we'll get a couple more first person games or it'll fall flat like the many spin-offs that the series has gotten and be promptly forgotten while the developers ponder what to do next.

Did people complain this much when FFXIV was revealed to be a full blown WoW-esque MMO? Apparently the game was at least decent because I see it posted all the time but it is pretty weebish so that could just be the pandering at play.

playing 5 alone sucks balls, but coop is a game changer. i recently played with this bitch and watched the chainsaw nigger cut off her head at least 5 times. shit was beyond hilarious

Metal Gear Solid went downhill like fuck immediately after they decided to do a prequel game about Big Boss's background.

I will admit that MGS3 being as traditional as it was after the post modernism of 2 was rather jarring, but I feel the game having so many different apporaoches to handle every sceario still made it a fine game in its own right.

I actually prefer playing RE5 solo. It feel more like a survival horror game that way.

RE6's campaigns have zero horror atmosphere to salvage.

RE4 is my favorite game. Not that it doesn't have its flaws, but there isn't one part that makes me reconsider playing it.

I also don't mind the escort stuff. Ashley doesn't wander and she doesn't talk (except for the screams for help). It was a necessary element after you've gotten adjusted to how the mechanics work.

But I really don't like RE5 or 6 single player. The stories aren't as fun or grounded, and the AI is so broken that the partner ends up being like one of those "fix this/take care of this while being attacked" parts of a game.

It's the same as Resident Evil though.

MGS1 - Isometric, fixed camera, focus on stealth and puzzles and a huge downplay on combat outside of boss battles.

MGS3 - Over-the-shoulder camera, stealth is optional and combat is one of the game's major focuses (though eliminating targets in an assassin-like stealth fashion does make the game easier)

>Over-the-shoulder camera
Are you confusing Snake Eater with Guns of the Patriots?

i think he meant subsistence...

>he played the original mgs3

how did you not suicide irl

I'm sure you'll get labeled a "normie" but I find the action REs (4---present) are generally well praised with the exception of 6 and spin off shit like Umbrella Chronicles.

Subsistence had over the shoulder camera? Not third person, but over the shoulder.

The camera honestly wasn't that bad

Why would I want to play a third person stealth game? I like to see where things are, not stare at my character's back.

Why would I want to play a third person stealth game? I like to see where things are so I can avoid them, not stare at my Snake's ass all day.

I mean, it's a nice ass, but that's all the more reason why that's a terible idea. I'd be distracted by that ass.

>I like to see where things are so I can avoid them
so you prefer the game where you can only see 5% of the map because everything else is off screen and the only way to see it is to swap to first person?

i swear fixedcameraanglesfags are retarded

Fixed camera/preset camera angels and top down/isometric are two completely different things.

You are a gay?

A very small minority on the internet whines about it. The fact that the game still sells well even with all the ports and rereleases is testament to how great it is

No, I'm a girl.

how long have you been on HRT?

and fixed camera is not the same as fixed angle

in old RE games for instance the camera is always fixed but the angles vary

>Still sells well
>RE5 and 6 have both still sold more.

You're overexaggerating events based on bias and nostalgia
You seem to think that each new port adds 3 million or something

I like both styles, there has been plenty of love for the classic, fixed camera games as well with code veronica and REmake.

I've not played 6 yet and 7 looks pretty shit, I'm hoping it'll still have co op features at least

My first Resident Evil was 4.

It had a huge impact on my life, it changed how I view game design. Resident Evil 5 was a safe and enjoyable follow up. Resident Evil 6 was shit outside of Mercs.

I seriously can't wait to see how RE7 turns out. I want it to be another game changer like RE4.

>Gamechanger

Was RE4 really a game changer, though? What did it do that Winback on the N64 didn't do? Like people act like Gaers of War or Re4 invented over the shoulder shooters, but actually it was Winback.

re4 popularized it which is, arguably, just as important as creating it

re4 set the standard no matter how you see it

>Edison popularized the power generator so he's as important as Tesla

that's true though

...

power generators aren't video games, user

Nothing but unanimous global praise for RE4. No idea what you're talking about.

Can we make you mod? Maybe we wouldn't have as may Cred Forums threads.

...

No idea. Looked like some generic GeoW shit.

...

Damn nigga, I forgot about Winback.

Are you having a stroke?

Played REmake HD around the time it launched as my first RE game, and loved it.

Then played RE4 a few months later and loved it even more.
