Personally I feel the Mudkip line is up there because the Water/Ground dual types cover for each other's weaknesses almost perfectly, with the only negative being a double weakness to Grass. Swampert is also really bulky and packs a punch even without mega evolving.

I noticed that too. Very little green is used. Only Caterpie and Metapod have green as a main body colour. The rest is only used for the colours of leaves on the grass types.

I wouldn't go that far. There are elements in older and newer gens that are genuinely fun, creative, and smart. I'll admit that a lot of the appeal is lost on people for their attempts to appeal to the SAO demographic.

Everything on the periphery of the RPG has gotten worse (from the graphics, to the clunky UI/controls, to the adventure elements, to the story).

The aesthetic changed from "grounded 90s anime" to "2000s anime with fantastic elements".
