When DR1 was being made, they took all the characters and basically threw them at a dartboard- everyone except Junko, Naegi and Kirigiri had no select roles, and could be the murderer or the murdered.
This is a theoretical end for Ishimaru if he was a murderer- there are ones for the entire cast.

I'll accept that Junko cheated to start out with, but it does kind of nick her image of a master manipulator a bit.

Though I guess it's kind of still there, since the fall of Class 77 wasn't entirely due to brainwashing, there was some subtle manipulation going on with the execution of Chiaki and the way all that shit went down.

And really, both Monaca and Junko used brainwashing for their foot soldiers. Manipulating your cannon fodder isn't feasible if you need them to obey and need them to do so fast. Junko needed a lot of specific things from them, and you're not going to get a mass ritual suicide going without brainwashing.

And a lot of her early victories were through manipulation, like the first killing game, and the revolt of the Reserve Course.

So yeah, calling her a full blown LOLMINDHACCS is being a bit unfair.

If there's one thing that I appreciate about DR3, it's the first killing game, the experimental brain surgery, and the grand fucking-up-Chiaki extravaganza. I think that the mass suicide was alright, since it was expected it just came out as it was nothing but madness, the stupid kind of it, so it just became laughable.

I still think they could have pulled it off. The scene of the one Reserve Course student committing suicide with a hacksaw was fucking intense as shit. That's what this should have been. Ritual suicide. People crying. Screaming for their mothers. Pain, agony, the works. And nobody able to stop it. Instead, we get people raining from the sky and giggling as they run into fire. Missed opportunity, I'd say.

If I were to rewrite DR3, that'd be one of the first things to get changed. Just have a long, drawn out moment of silence, then Izuru picks up the Galaga pin and leaves. Maybe show a single tear drop fall. Leave things up to the viewer to work out.

I finished it half a game ago man. I just remember Mukuro's reaction to the spearing(shock and confusion, which indicates she didn't expect it)more than any explicit statement about it being planned. Yeah, it's kind of obvious it was planned even without me remembering it, but it didn't occur to me that they had probably planned an alternative punishment beforehand and Junko simply pulled the wool over her eyes. My idea of it being scripted only went as far as the outburst itself, so I figured if it was scripted then nothing would have happened as a result, which would've made no sense, so I thought it must not have been scripted.

I knew a couple years back that it's all virtual, the students are despair, Chiaki is an AI, Byakuya was an impostor, and AI Junko is behind it all. I figured there wasn't anything else major enough to be spoiled on to really affect me at this point.

I knew who all the killers were and who will live and die, but Ibuki's and Gundham's deaths still really hit me.
