Ive done this so many times. They nerfed cloaked so badly.

1942 already has new servers through Origin.

The game is abandoned. But last time I tried Steam AND Origin downloads would work, but you had to launch it out of the game folder, not the application/client software.

Of course, this is before they updated the client so YMMV.

I don't think so. I didn't see any pb notifications during the installation and there was no punkbuster running while playing, according to the Task Manager.

It scans your memory and files for known hacks like an AV would. To do this it installs 2 services on your computer that are always running. This is a decent anticheat solution but it's completely useless now because BF2 and 2142 have lost support years ago. It's like running a 10 year old AV and expecting it to find anything. All it can possibly do now is kick legit users for various buggy reasons while doing literally nothing against hackers.

It just drops my faith in the competency of the community running this.

Spend a few minutes refreshing it. 1 out of 64 people have to do shit sometime.

Hasn't stopped the BF3/4 teams from doing that and making modded maps/servers off EA's stuff.

You basically install those and outside of the EA CD-key (which is what gives me pause about the entire project), it basically runs on it's own without Origin/Battlelog.
