Dragon quest thread? How are you all enjoying the game so far?

Anyone know much about monster meadows? I've sent a bunch of monsters there but none show up when I go to the grasslands. How do I use this feature?

Ruff just learned Inferno from the monster masher vocation
Time to rape.

I can now confirm that you do not learn Oomph from Notso Macho

At least I have permanent Double-Edged Slash I guess

How do you get that vocation?

Master Thief and Shepherd.

What island has the village with descendants of an ancient hero. I need to find the soldier there.

Stopped for a minute on the island with the bird people to grind classes for the first time, mainly to get Mervyn and Aishe caught up to an advanced class. And send Ruff through Mage real quick so he can get Sap before I turn him back to Monster Masher.

Game's pretty good. Vocations make it really easy to make completely overpowered parties. Pic related.

the island with the flying carpet

ze ze ze ze ze ze ze ze ze ze ze

Mervyn's Paladin costume looks fucking legit

Is the island with the dig site in the past or present?

Those
motherfucking
bottles

Present

>Hero got sand in his eyes!
>Ruff got sand in his eyes!
>Maribel got sand in his eyes!
>They resist the fuck out of magic if you just cast instead
MAKE IT STOP

La Bravoure ,its an island that appears at the same time as Alltrades abbey

cast sleep

>chick in Haven tells me there's some sailor in a town with a huge pot
>assume she's talking about Al-sahib or however that place is called
>look for a sailor everywhere
>even inside the pot itself
>fucking nothing
>even though I already found some fighter guy in fugland who probably was supposed to come after the sailor
Where the hell is he

If I understand that gravestone correctly Kiefer totally got friendzoned.

In the pot after you clear the next island after the desert one

progress in the story

...

Well of course he would say that.

Ok i have the magic carpet and i can reach the tallest tower but i cant seem to get pike to sell the stone to rich dude. Ive been to all his houses a ton and pike never seems to advance to having sold it. Was there a step im not remembering?

You didn't understand it correctly then.

Just got Ruff, how far from Alltrades am I?

He didn't, his descendant can be found later in the game.

Did you talk to the guy in the little shrine east of La Bravoure?

I'm waiting to buy the American version because the Canadian version has the fucking "It's in French, too!" icon printed right over Melvin's face

Around 3 islands I believe

What do the monster hearts do? I've found a few of them but I'm not sure what to do with them.

you used them to change your class into a monster class

monster classes are pretty good because you keep the skills

You can class change to monsters with them, which is pretty useful since it nets you some skills that would be otherwise exclusive to a class.

Any suggestions for Ruff I'm not sure what vocation i want him to have , right now he is a martial artist (fighter)

Those bottles all but. taught me that casting confusion and sleep spells are a legitimate thing.

At first I was kinda sad because I couldn't really get into the game, but now I'm fucking loving it. I just want to know when I can change vocations.

I made him a Monster Masher, but when that ended up being a dead-end I decided to make him my designated Monster Class guy

>Was about to make Maribel a Healslime when she decides to ditch the party for several hours
Fucking hell

I'm level 16 and just got classes, give me a reason not to grind everyone into hero class

17-20 hours in

How many hours are you in? I got vocations about 24 hours in

Get hype, the section when you get vocations is probably my favorite section of the game so far.

It'll take like 12 hours of grinding and completely trivialize the majority of the rest of the game

If that doesn't deter you, then you do you

Alright when and how do I get Mervyn?

I got the magic carpet and found the ghost that was talking about sir mervyn and the sizzling stone. Cunt uncle had already sold the sizzling stone to some rich dude so I went to that one rich dudes mansion but he wasn't there.

Monster Masher is fucking fantastic though
Kabuff, Kasap, and every Breath attack except for Sweet Breath (which is redundant when you have Counting Sheep from Shepherd already)

I'm just sending him back to be a Mage for a bit so he can get Sap.

I think my final party's gonna be
>Hero (Hero)
>Maribel (Druid, make her a Healslime at some point for Multiheal)
>Mervyn (Paladin)
>Ruff (Monster Masher)

Where do you find the next resident after the one on the Volcano island?

>MC has been pirate class for a long ass time
>Ruff mastered the Pirate class faster than the MC
??? I don't get it. My mc has been stuck Pirate class with 7 stars for a while now.

Its pretty fucken legit. Game is great 40hrs in here. Maxed out all base vocations.

Go to his other houses

Haven't found his other houses yet. Where are they located?

You have to go on a goose chase to all his mansions, when you go to all 3 he'll be at the first one. Then you'll tell him about the stone but he wont give it to you, leave the house and he decides to join you to the tower.

Should have done it before, boyo

Wait, so Paladin gets Thin Air like right away? Man that makes Stomp pretty useless.

is your hero higher level than ruff?
he might not be getting job experience

One of them is the colorful mansion in the town where time stopped. I think the other one is the town by yggastril

Your MC might be too high leveled for the area you're killing shit in. Move on with the story.

Meh I'll do it when she gets back. Hadn't done any advanced classes on her yet, just got one maxing everything I need for Sage and Idol.

Alright thanks I'll look for them.

>REEEEEEEEEEEE

Okay, I'm only about 12 in, I'm on the robot island

You've got three more islands I think

Be sure to talk to everyone in the mansion too, I think you have to go to the one by the tree first. There's an order to them I don't remember it though. You'll figure it out.

HOW DO I BEAT THESE FUCKING BANDITS WTF

How do you obtain hero?

You leafs should really just let Quebec be its own country already.

Then they can fuck off and do their French thing.

...

What are the differnces between druid and godhand? Everywhere online just says they're good with both physical attacks and magic, sound kind of samey. I was thinking this for end game.

Hero- hero
Maribel- druid
Ruff- monster masher
Mervyn- champion/paladin
Aishe- luminary

>Use one of my 3 magic waters in preparation for a boss
>NPC heals my party to full HP and MP 2 minutes later
FUG

Boomerangs, also if you master sailor you get lighting which costs 0 mp which should fucking destroy them. My maribel had mastered mage as well who had boom, they were piss easy. Just buff all your members first round.

>reach the volcano
>talk to palmela to save
>accidentally say i don't want to save
>she closes my game without saving

wtf

Sweet! Thank you

>Pirate AND Paladin get Thin Air

Different abilities

Oh I just realized, I meant to say Godhand for Mervyn not Paladin

Champion gets Thin Air at rank 1 too

Did you answer "no" to "would you like to continue your adventure?"

Where can I find the casino?

Where should I go to grind vocations? Just finished Alltrades, haven't gotten much further casue of the damn bandits.

I misclicked but for fuck's sake why does this game allow you to 'turn it off' without saving

Do you keep skills from Intermediate jobs? I know they changed it so you needed to be on Godhand for godhand skills and such but does that apply to pirate, gladiator, etc?

Sadly not. I was so dissapointed Ruff didn't keep his Pirate abilites or Monster Masher Breaths when I changed him

Slime tablet dungeon assuming your party are under level 20. Assuming you grind only those jobs I listed it should take you like 45 min.

To the guy who asked in the last thread, yes. If you liked Dragon Quest IX, you will also like VII. It has the same class and story arc formula. And in my opinion, Dragon Quest VII did both a lot better.

Damn, is the game really that bad (as pic shows) with the confusion shit, or something like it?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the esrb logo has to be in the same spot on every game, and only nintendo things can be on the white space on the right

Damn. So I need to stay on Pirate for Sword Dance? That kind of sucks. I'm noticing a lot of basic class skills overlap with what they do and none have really impressed me so far.

...that still leaves 2 spaces that would be better than the one they chose

better yet why the fuck is that not a sticker that is on the outside of the cellophane?

Does Kiefer keep his equipment or can do I get it back. He just left but not officially yet.

he gives you all his stuff before ditching you.

There are people who buy weapons aside from Boomerangs and Whips?

Why?

Man, IX would be so good on the 3ds or home console.

Sadly Yeah.

I personally kept Ruff on Monster Masher because inferno is a godsend, 0mp 130-150 dmg to all enemies. Pirate was good for thin air and some strong storm attack, but inferno does both of those better.

#notallJRPGs

they tend to get outclassed pretty quickly in most cases. a bunch of vocations have skills that hit most/all enemies so it becomes less important.

Anyone?

I have the Canadian version and these never really bothered me until now.

Probably the same reason everything else is where it is, because law.

Though I cant say for sure, as I'm in North America.

I give 1 or 2 members a sword or something for more damage on bosses. I like using the Dream Blade because it affects monsters a lot.

Should I?

That's basically what Dragon Quest X is. You'll just never get to play it.

That's the one you get from The Haven right away right? Haven't gotten the download bar or anything yet.

talk to the last person you find in the haven they give you a clue

if you can't figure it out then post the clue because I don't remember the order, just the clues

Don't remind me Chen.

Go unlock the download bar soon, the dlc stuff expires next week sometime.

Beast Master, ?, Paladin?, Idol
Is that right?

>tfw still stuck on the Cloud boss
Why won't anyone tell me where the darkslime tablet is

Mario & Luigi may not have combat grinding. But it has plenty of heavy dialogue to sit through. Just like Golden Sun (or this game).

No, just buy about 5,000 tokens, save, then run the slots. When you get over 4,000-5,000, you can usually just keep playing endlessly.

Can your equipment affect how ranking a star of a vocation work?
Like let's say you change Ruff into Martial artist, do I have to unequip his edge boomrang? Like if I don't unequip it, he won't rank a new star?

Nah it's not worth it
The best casino stuff costs like 50k tokens, it's easier to just build up from a smaller amount.

do it

I think the point he was making that in M&L you can dodge every attack if you git gud
The problem was that until Paper Jam the damage was too low to compensate for the rare times you did get hit. Even though the western versions already had cranked up enemy damage and HP compared to the Japanese releases. Paper Jam made shit actually difficult to dodge again (especially with three party members at once) and hurt like a bitch. Shame about how bland the game is outside of the combat though.

I'm the OP and I still don't know shit about how Monster Meadows/The Haven works. I've sent monsters there but none have showed up.

God no, save scum like a normal person.

Go for it. You clearly don't need money anymore.

Having 5 party members is so weird, especially since by the time you get the 5th the other 4 are pretty well established.

That said, I don't know a single person who drops Gabo, ever. Most people (myself included) seem to drop Melvin/Mervyn.

your equipment has nothing to do with your vocation. I went the entire martial artist vocation as the MC with a sword the entire time. You might expect to get penalized for having a weapon and not going barehanded with that vocation but nope.

Also Vocations won't let you equip new weapons either.

uh yeah, he's level 26

Equipment is completely character bound.

>No, just buy about 5,000 tokens, save, then run the slots. When you get over 4,000-5,000, you can usually just keep playing endlessly.

well it's not like I got any other use for the money, I already bought everything I could buy

I'm dropping Aishe as soon as Maribel comes back. Fuck Keifer and all of his descendants.

And I love it. Nothing better than seeing a sage or priest using a boomerang. More games should do it.

monsters show up at the meadows when you find the island in the past and save it

the reason why it's accessable early is so you can activate streetpass. I think you unlock the island at around 25 hours but it's when you get multiple island choices

>25
Try 30

>Fuck Keifer and all of his descendants.
Fug, that's a nice spoiler

the star is what level of the vocation you are

when you reach the max, 8stars, it turns yellow

Do I need to do anything special to level vocations like use certain abilities, or just kill enemies?

Yeah all that money still doesn't mean much.
The metal king helms Cost 1M gold each in straight conversion.

It's based on battles won against enemies close to your level

all you need to do is win battles as long as the enemy you defeat isn't too weak.

this shit has been bugging me since it was first implemented

if it was a sticker on the outside of the packaging it wouldn't matter but no, they have to fucking print it right on the cover

unfortunately, the one thing I care about costs even more

Is there any difference between Muster Strength and Focus Strength?

I just got vocations. Thinking of ditching ruff/gato when I get the other two party members, but how far into the future is that?
Also, thinking priest for hero, Mage for girl and thief for ruff.
I read in the book that to get paladin you need martial artist and priest, but the Web said warrior and priest, which is true? And why does pal have different class names than the American?

its martial artist and priest

Wew that lucky slot machine is pretty good.

Which one is the lucky one?

Gabo is probably going to learn skills the fastest out of all your party members. I wouldn't get rid of him so much as just let him go down the class path you probably won't use on the other characters. For example, I already got him maxed on Thief/Shepard/Monster Tamer and Healslime. And I don't even have Melvin yet. I'm just gonna have Gabo do all the monster classes, while the other characters focus on human classes exclusively.

>ditching ruff
Don't, he's great in battle when set up correctly. Typically people ditch aishe but I guess you could do what you want. He never leaves you once he join either, true bro.

nice one man, I guess you're pretty much done at that point

I kinda wish there was a 100 token machine with 2 rows of 7s, just to see what kind of extreme prizes you could get

Boy golly I sure hope nothing attacks me when examine this bookcase.

In DQV I got 77777 within 5 minutes of trying the 100 coin machine. It was absurd, I bought everything I could possibly want at a the Casino and didn't even spend half. I had a full part of monsters in Metal King gear for most of the game.

It's the bottom rightmost one. Theres an NPC in front of it but you can still use it with correct positioning.

Where is this "Primo Palazzo?"

Confusion is only bad on your enemies. Weird Whacker and Fuddle Dance are LIFESAVERS against a lot of enemies.

Ruff as Monster Masher turns his wolf into a WMD-level flamethrower. Vaccum Cleaner is just Thin Air, Weird Al with a Weed Wacker is Weird Whacker. The Idol class is super useful, Free 50 HP to your entire party every turn.

north of animal town

Shit i have already forgotten.
What town is "home of the ancestors of some ancient heroes"

La Bravoure

its a long ass time before ruff can be dropped.

He's the one guy who gets all the availability.

omelette du fromage

I've always had a thing for old warriors, so I hot to have him in the party, and dancer-figher babe is too good to pass up. I don't dislike Gabo at all, but going up against those two contenders, there's not much choice.
Yeah, I had the same plan for him, monster classes and such

>people ditch Aishe

I thought everyone dropped Mervyn in the original.

Just watching this thread in case it starts getting sexy in here.
How can DQ have so many perfect women?

It just does

Because Toriyama. He loves to draw those curves as much as we like looking at them.

>Games like this are barely made anymore
>now its just open world fetch quests or linear games about real world problems that are meant to be deep.

Why bros

Toriyama is just that good.

He probably takes all the cool ideas for characters that he couldn't fit in DB and put them DQ.

Man, the envoy hit me like a fucking wall. Still haven't beat him. Everyone is level 25-23 and everytime he either puts 3-4 people sleep and just spams kaswoosh.

>352729582
I thought everyone dropped maribel

Is there a guide for which vocations lead to which?

do you have other islands available
providence, hubble and nottagen should open up around the same time I think, and hubble's definitely the hardest one

I finished providence, but nottagen is closed. It says there is puzzle piece in the temple palace in a hidden passage but I cannot find it.

talk to the queen

The one in the present or past? Because the one in the present has 2 girls blocking her and keep telling me that no one except them are allowed to talk to her

go to the past and go to the temple palace. in the back outside is a throne and the queen should be sitting there. talk to her.

thanks

Kiefer just left my party. I picked up his bag but none of his stuff is in my inventory, and I can't find the letter. Am I missing something? Where is it?

>dropping the person who you had job grinded on for most of the game

I guess speedy players would easily ditch her though.

Its more like he took the best aspects of Dragon Ball characters and Yuji Horii added to it. For example, Alena is obviously a combination of Launch and Arale. Then Yujo Horii developed a nice setting and story for her to interact in. Then he did the same for Ayla in Chrono Trigger.

From what I'm aware of, she's just got the worst stats

Only had to go to Gröndal mansion and then to Palazzio and I found him.

Single target weapons are better for boss fights, and you get lots of group and all enemy skills that'll hit harder than a boomerang if you have a better weapon.

>not using boomerangs

prob in the inventory of the other characters

Nah I checked everyone and the bag

Was it possible to skip islands in the PS1 version?

I seem to remember encountering the robots after the Volcano island.

...

What happens if everyone gets ko? Do you ho back to previous state save and lose progress or does it affect some kind of perfect ending?

Is there any reason to keep using boomerangs after getting vocations? The skill you get for mastering sailor hits all enemies, consistently does more damage than attacking, and doesn't fall off with the number of enemies like the boomerang and whip do.

You lose half of the money you had made.

you go back to the last church you saved in and your gold gets cut by half
nothing else

No need to once you get a job with a good "Hits Everything" attack

Yeah, I getcha.
Still, Tsarevna, though.

>[Hero] learned a new spell: Oomph!

I'm at the place where the town is kind of stuck in a time loop.

Are there even any boomerangs you can use after the Edged boomerang?

What monster heart or basic class gives Oomph?

God, this game has so much faffing around and backtracking in it.

I just got to the part where God smites everything and I seriously don't want to play anymore.

Does it end soon?

>Evil Turtle, Lizardman, Majin Budu, or Death Machine

Most of those names probably aren't the same in English. I think Majin Budu might be Notso Machos? I haven't gotten a heart from them though, I might need to capture one and make a Notso Macho tablet or something.

I'm near the part where you get Mervyn and it sounds like he isn't actually as strong as the game wants you to think he is

For whatever reason he doesn't start with levels in any classes
Once you get him bumped up to an advanced class he's as good as anyone else. I recommend Paladin, for Multiheal

>Legendary hero
>Doesn't come with the Hero class pre-unlocked

Just got it yesterday, been loving the fuck out of it so far.

Pomposo says he has to go the Clock Tower right away but he doesn't move from his spot. After I told about him about it.

Don't you get Hero by mastering 3 advanced vocations?

Hes good at everything Stat wise but has no job levels to start. Hes made to fill any hole you want in the team. Most just have him mirror maribel since there is a story chunk where one or the other is gone

Either 3 intermediate classes or 2 intermediate and 1 advanced.

>Wiggles

F

One of the paintings in the town becomes a portal when you stop time. It was poorly explained in the PSX version too. I'm disappointed it wasn't fixed.

it just keeps happening

The wind town story got real fucked up real fast
>Hey guess what beloved daughter, you weren't adopted, I was just ashamed that you were born with a hideous birth defect and tried to hide the fact that you were my real daughter from everyone! Sorry!

>Rocky

>Rocky...

The easy way is to disable them and kill one by one. Snooze the one with the bag, dazzle the rest. Kill the priest one first since his sizzle hurts.

Enjoying it a lot... on my PS1. I wouldn't touch the 3DS version even if I didn't own the original. Cut content, poor localization with dialects and funny memes, synth OST instead of the orchestra etc.

It's a shame DQ VIII 3DS english release also seems to have been butchered.

Thank you... Wiggles... Rocky...

That's all I can think of to say.

Oh look. I've never seen this post before.

This is how I started the battle

>Ruff lullabies them to sleep
>MC makes the leader lose his shit with an Underpants Dance

>stop time
>maid was changing her clothes
>Mirabel says : "hey! Stop staring at her, will you, Honestly"
I can't help but laugh.

Dragon quest games have such a great amount of care compared to most other JRPGs...
You can notice it in all these small things.

>about to leave the roamers in the past
>two chests are locked in the main tent and I remember this place is inaccessable later

Can you actually get them or only in the future?

That's honestly the appeal of the games to me. Before, the only game I played with that much detail was Suikoden. And that series lost all that detail (and good story-telling) after the creator left.

Dragon Quest still has its original development team. And the attention to detail just grows with every game (except DQIX sadly). Hell, I think my favorite feature in Dragon Quest VIII was the ability to check hanging bags for items. I have no idea why I love it so much, but the combination of the animation and the delay before getting an item is addicting.

Welcome to the Salty Spitoon. Where's the Alltrades Abbey?

You didn't miss anything, don't worry.

After getting to Greenthumb and fighting the rainiac, I have to the conclusion that I am so done with this game
The backtracking kills it
The linearity kills it
No revives in the beginning
I don't care what you guys say, it's just so boring
I've been digging the story but there are so many negatives that its irredeemable

atleast complete alltrades before calling it quits

go back to final fantasy, you won't be missed

Beat it.

Those negatives are relative. That's probably the part with most backtracking in the game and it definitely gets better later on, but for me its all part of the charm of this game.

>Welcome to the stinky cave, how tough are ya?
>BEAT IT!
>Right, go on in. You're plenty tough enough

I'm 20 hours in this game and THERE ARE STILL NO GODDAMN JOBS

I'm tired of the Hero not having any abilities or offensive magic
I'm tired of Kiefer
I'm tired of Ruff being so weak

Nice bait

>Ruff
>Weak
Sic 'em is great at that part of the game though

Haha, when you save Nottagen for the first time and feel underwhelmed by the battle and the significance of the place, completely oblivious that you're in for a ride.

>No revives in the beginning
You're actually dying?

>I don't care what you guys say, it's just so boring
Clearly its not since it seems to be hard for you. Or is that the problem?

you are almost half way thru

>THERE ARE STILL NO GODDAMN JOBS

soon

>I'm tired of Kiefer

SOON

>I'm tired of Ruff being so weak

Honestly yes his exp curve is fucked until he hits level 8 then he starts ramping up.

>You're actually dying?
Ruff has like 20 hp
And I've given up on battling

uh, I didn't go back to get the scholar from the temple, should I do that?

> He hasn't gotten to the Alltrades Abbey arc
> He has no idea the hell that's in store for him

If I don't like it now
Why would all trades make the game better?

Its amazing how quickly your opinion on Florin can flip flop cause so far my opinion on him has gone from negative, to postive and right back to negative

I'm more angry at Kiefer for leaving before that whole nonsense rather than after.

>Running from battles

Even when he's old he's kind of a douche

>Honestly yes his exp curve is fucked until he hits level 8
Even then his stats are way better than what the rest of your party's were at that those low levels. His stat gains are nuts at first, like +10 Agi per level sometimes.

>It didn't work
Oh no fucking shit Florin, the chief just fucking told you it wouldn't work

>Ruff has like 20 hp
Go to an Inn and rest? Use medicinal herbs? Use heal, which the Hero should have learned at level 3?

Ruff should have at least 60-80 base HP by now. Either that or you really seem to be bad at RPGs.

At least he redeemed himself in the end.

After beating the desert temple, I didn't check on the scholar. Should I have?

I meant 20 base hp and I was being over dramatic because most enemies OHKO him
Everyone is 13 except ruff is 8

Ruff has far more HP, even at level 8. You are being over dramatic. If you're really struggling that bad, use your seeds on Ruff.

Looks like you don't get anything worthwhile from Mini Medals until you get 65, you get a Miracle Sword from that.

Next reward at 75 is another Enclosure Plan for Monster Meadows, eh

Either way, how many battles have you run away from?

been grinding jobs before progressing, unlocked luminary for eerbody, sage for the girl, monster masher for ruff and gladiator for MC. working on unlocking paladin as well for MC.

anything else worth unlocking? or should i just pick an intermediate class and progress the story now?

i mean i already have the luminary maxed out, as well as pirate.

Champion's pretty darn good if you're up for it.

If you max out one more intermediate class, Hero would be available. I think

If you went from unlocking jobs straight to that you've kind of overdone it by like, a lot.

I wouldn't recommend doing more job grinding until like after Cirrus if you want the difficulty curve to even itself out.

champion? how to unlock that?

annoying thing is all the guides are old. just been wingin it.

need a total of three ints for hero?

>I'm 20 hours in this game and THERE ARE STILL NO GODDAMN JOBS
You think that's bad? I'm 22 years in and still no job.

>Ruff: Do you miss Maribel when she's not around
>Yes/No
>Select Yes
>Woah, I didn't realize you guys were THAT close!
Who the hell taught Ruff about the Birds and the Bitches already?

Oh, just go North.

I find this dungeon confusing enough and it's telling me to go back at the beginning?

How do I get Sword Dance? i just got my hero to max level on dancer, already maxed him out with warrior.

Its three. If you get 3 Intermediate Classes maxed on a character, Hero becomes available on them. Any character, not just the hero. So if you want to grind enough, you can make every character a hero (and a godhand).

unless you're pursuing education you have no excuse

...

you need to master paladin and gladiator. Champion has the best of both. It gets thin air, multi heal, kabuff, Kasa, oomph, amd kazing before rank 8.

Nigga look around the room you're in and tell me what it looks like. THEN tell me what you think you're supposed to do.

It's pirate exclusive now

there are strange numbers in roman on the floor?

this game is utter shit, but it looks really nice on the 3DS.

I wish there was an actual good game that uses this aestethic

IT'S A CLOCK YOU FOOL

Wiggles was too good for this world...

Is dancer even worth having then? Pirate is Warrior and Sailor right?

Are they gonna do VIII for 3DS? That would be so fuckin good

How do I access the limited time DLC, or DLC in general. I just started.

It gets a few decent utility things (like a free 20 HP Multiheal, if you go Dancer early that's pretty nice) but mostly it's just useful for unlocking Luminary.

Pirate is Thief + Sailor.

2017

Pirate = Sailor + Thief

Read the book in AllTrades Abbey which tells you the requirements for each class.

Mostly just to get Luminary

I was hoping he was just shedding his shell

And therefore Druid

>Robo Estark
Who did that.

Are there no flashing points in this game? I randomly got 10 coins or so in the first villagers the church, but I never saw a spot.

Damn, got my shit pushed in by Slaughtomaton. I was already running pretty low on MP for the previous boss, didn't expect it to be a double-decker.

I only remember seeing one. It was early on in a well, my first mini medal. I'm not 43 hours in and I haven't found any others

I got kinda lucky on that fight and just kept Dazzle up as much as possible

Maribel had 2 MP left when the fight began, so I was pretty well fucked.

What the fuck is a pilchard?

Dragon Quest is the only JRPG series where I really enjoy talking to every single NPC, there's so much charm in the dialogue

>That guy in Nottagen who says Wiggles was his great great grandfather

>that guy whose soul was swapped by a cow's

just 4 more hours

What the fuck is a jetty? Where am I supposed to go?

Up to what level can i grind my classes in the slimes forest my party is 16-18

You could most likely cap out Hero or champion with 16.

What casino reward has the best token to sell ratio for making money?

I think the next migrant is supposed to be in Providence, but I'm not sure where. Anyone know?

Reminder that the DLC doest seem to have a level cap for class grinding.
Im 33 in the tough nut one and still getting class levels.

Flip game

Can potentially be 5 tokens to 10k+ gold if you win, and it's simple enough to cheese if you don't hit a Shuffle card

I'm getting to alltrades soon, and although i remember what happens, i'm wondering, are the classes the exact same as they were in the ps1 version? Do you still need a Hero heart for the class? I remember having a party of Godhands cause that's like the sole peak other than summoner.

Only basic and monster class skills carry over to all other classes now.
Some moves got shuffled around

What's the solution to the 4 Statue Puzzle In El Monumento De Pomposo? I've tried everything I could think off but the doors remain locked.

Oh nevermind, I'm retarded. I was thinking of the wrong area entirely.

Make them all face the center, retard

I swear to god I did that, maybe I was mistaken though. Thanks for the tip faggot.

ruff at lv8 is almost as strong as mc at 13

levels scale depending on the character senpai

game is insanely easy. right now i'm at the place with the tents.

yes

Meant for the rewards you spend tokens on so I can sell them.

Oh sweet, I got a Notso Macho heart
Does anyone know if it gives permanent Oomph? I might make Ruff one for a bit if that's the case, he's the only one on my endgame team who won't have it naturally (as a Monster Masher)

I dunno about 7 specifically, but isn't Magic Water or Prayer Rings usually the best option?

> Does anyone know if it gives permanent Oomph?

Yes. All monster skills are permanent.

I meant does anyone know if it gives Oomph in the first place. I know monster skills are all permanent.

does this game have an equivalent to the pachisi track? I've only played 3

Thank God for CFW letting you use the Orchestral score.

I just mastered Notso Macho earlier and it doesn't teach Oomph

Fuck, what does it give then?

>caring that much about a fucking video game soundtrack that you have to resort to pirating
baka my head family

The final skill you get at rank 8 is Double-Edged Slash, and there were some other things like Gust Slash, all basic sword moves basically

Just finished alltrades abbey, used a randomizer to determine peoples classes
Mc:troubadour
Maribel:dancer
Gabo:warrior

Not bad, gonna master these and randomize some more. You can do the four job fiesta in this game which is pretty cool but the game itself is way too fucking long.

Welp, guess I still don't have any monster classes I actually want to use besides Healslime once Maribel gets back.

I just did that. And it was so annoying. I'm sure there was some simple trick to do the puzzle in 3 moves or something. But I ended up doing it the hard way.

Holy shit I just hit for 980 with a Knuckle Sandwich and the boss wasn't even fully Sapped

Where do I find all the monster human dudes?
Is there a list somewhere?

Knuckle Sandwich is the best vs. Boss ability for most of the game, bar none.

Oomph + Focus Strength + Knuckle Sandwich is some serious fucking shit

Now I just need someone besides Hero to cast Oomph so he doesn't need to spend turns reapplying it.

Please put me out of my misery, how the hell do i get the mouth in the pyramid in end game it says "A mouth sealed so tight that only time will open it".

>paying for 3ds games
I'm not him, but I did the same thing. The orchestral patch has nothing to do with it, I'm just not paying for any 3DS game ever when I can get the same exact game for free and be able to play online whenever.

enjoy never being able to play another dq game

Crispin is his great great great many other greats grandson.

Oh, hey, the Powersaves codes came out.

N-not that I would use them or anything

>if you dont pay 40 dollarydoos for it, they wont bring the next one over!
yeah nice try. its coming over, not that i care when i can always play the jap version if i even cared about dragon quest that much. i have ever game for 3ds for free.

enjoy paying for them. keep making them bring over games so i can pirate them, good boy.

Aren't you cool

(You)

Tbh I think hes pretty cool
Sorry bro

if pirating all the games and not paying for them is cool, then sure. keep being uncool by paying for them lol idgaf

How grindy is it?

I've played III, V, VIII and IX and out of those V was my favorite and the least grindy. VIII was especially bad because when I got to a new town I never had enough money to buy even 2 weapons for my party.

I've heard VII is the most padded in the series, if the remake isn't too bad in that regard I'll pick it up

I got so pissed that people forgot he was a monster and think hes a bloody human, its bad enough in grondel were they fucking ruin the monument to fabricate the past theres so many infuriating presents for islands were i just want to beat these assholes to the ground.

Wait this is out? i dont think its out in the UK yet.

You can play the game without grinding. Grinding is just optional if you want to get more classes or gold.

But the fact that you had to grind in Dragon Quest VIII tells me you'd be forced to do some extra grinding.

I'm from Quebec and I didn't even noticed this. Now thanks to you, I only see that.

The game is still great though!

very little grind

it's actually quite easy to get over leveled

Its probably one of the few dq games where I avoid metal slimes just so I don't get overleveled...

> Having this much of a superiority complex over not paying for Japanese entertainment software

>But the fact that you had to grind in Dragon Quest VIII tells me you'd be forced to do some extra grinding.
I was very underleveled for most boss fights and still pulled through due to strategy and some luck. It might be that it felt more grindy than it should have because the game was extremely slow in its battle animations

I distinctly remember situations where a new weapon for the hero was 4200 coins and the average random encounter gave you like 100-150 coins.

"tips" keep paying for those games hahahah.

So about Professor Wade's hat, I tried talking to the zombie that stole it but he just tells me to stop interrupting his conversation with the bandit leader. Do I just need to come back later or something?

Anybody? i really need help with this one the sands of time didnt work.

Just got sold out by Fingers and got my ass kicked by the Werecat and Slon's lesser known younger brother, how many more times am I gonna get my ass kicked during the Alltrades Abbey arc?

Nevermind, I checked the board in El Cielo and then came back

>tfw I got the hacked USA version with the Orchestrated music

>I distinctly remember situations where a new weapon for the hero was 4200 coins and the average random encounter gave you like 100-150 coins.

If you don't run from battles, this isn't really that much of a problem. I think that some people run away too much.

Its not that you're a pirate that's irritating me, its that you type like a teenager who's decided to visit Cred Forums for the first time

Where do you guys grind classes after 20?

If your experience is anything like mine, a lot. The final boss of Alltrades is easy pz tho.

>tfw want to support more DQ in the west but poor as fuck
Suffering.

What, were you running from every single battle or something? The only time I had to grind for cash in DQ8 was when I was specifically buying multiples of expensive shit for alchemy abuse, like getting two Farmer's Scythes to get Yangus a good axe like 10 hours early.

that's a very clever deduction, I've never heard anyone in the history of Cred Forums ever say anything like that ever before towards anybody. you are insane, a madman. i applaud you. the next 3ds game i pirate, it will be in your name.

Wow you pay REAL DOLLARS for V I D E O G A M E S haha let me go on a Siamese Archery Forum and make fun of you for having DECENCY XD

$40 is pretty low cost for a game. Especially a game that's over 100 hours. Just cut back on buying all those Steam games you'll never play. Or literally work 6 hours at McDonalds.

WHOA DUDE FUCKING AWESOME!!! I bet all the girls at school suck on your dick.

just use another tablet, I think I used drakeslimes

Why the fuck are you guys replying to the shitposter, just ignore him you fucking morons

>Maribel says how horrible the buildings Pompous created
>Ruff says how it looks nice, he askes what I think about it, agree with me
>Sides with Ruff
bros before hoe

hells yeah brahski. the girls nom all over my cock and constantly ask me "where can i get free 3ds games senpaiii!!??"

>the shitposter announcer wakes up

It's probably one moron samefagging both sides, considering all of it seems to be written by a 12 year old.

>if i don't use capitalization, that person must be 12!
why is 12 the magical number you morons seem to spew constantly over and over? it makes you look like a fucking bot, lol.

it's the same dude that's constantly trying to shit up these DQ threads

Who's this untrustworthy person in Wetlock that I'm supposed to recruit for the Haven? I already did the sidequest about the hat, I thought it'd be Putric but apparently not.

Shoot I got found out. Oh well, I think this was a Dragon Quest Thread or something

you're right. that was me yesterday. in fact, I had no intention of shitting up anything aboiut dragon quest specifically, I just came in and replied to somebody about pirating because the moron thought it was for the orchestral patch.

and what do you know, you fucking morons kept going and going. LOL. are you fucking retarded?i'll specifically shit all over your fucking game and your fucking thread if thats what you're asking you piece of fucking shit.

It's a weird feeling when you have to pray that the metal slimes flee so you don't get their experience.

he's hiding in the two story building underground

>tfw the buildings look fucking terrible but you can't disappoint your boy

Ah fuck, I forgot that room was even there. Thanks.

Gay?

...

Is there any monster class that gives Tamer? Or do I need to keep a guy as a Masher to recruit monsters?

WHich monster classes should I consider exploring?

i learned oomph from pirate. max lvl

when do I get to start fighting slimes and monsters?

>Mimic Tablet
>"Oh that'll be easy enough"
>Encounters of multiple mimics at a time
NOPE
COMING BACK TO THAT ONE LATER FUCK

Would you?

i've noticed the younger someone is, the more they care about punctuation and grammar on an anonymous mongolian fishing enthusiast website

like an hour in

On top of that I hear nothing but the same age repetitively repeated along with the same exact insult. It's usually the easiest to resort to, so I can't blame those dumb niggers.

You shouldnt be buying every single new gear upgrade in dq games. Outside of upgrading to the next boomerang or whip since those tend to be infrequent you can usually just buy new stuff every 2 or 3 towns. Instead of going broke for a 3-4 point upgrade you can go broke for a 15-20 point upgrade. Then abuse the casinos and never need gear again

speaking of being 12
>unironically using nigger as a general insult

Thats your daughter you sick fuck

There's a new infamous fight in the game that introduces you to status effects by having you fight 4 strong-ish monsters that can all use different status effects on you. Confusion makes your characters completely useless until they snap out of it, physical attacks are not guaranteed to cure it.

First time on Cred Forums I see. See how these dumb niggers resort to anything retarded even if it's just for the moment and still mindlessly let me acquire a (you)?

And if you're gonna insist on grinding gold don't bother until you find an area with Gold Golems

Or abuse the casino if there's a game that you can win easy enough

>talk to kiefer after delivering the book to the hermit
>tells me we should go back to see him again
>5 seconds pass without a text box on the screen, no buttons do anything
>not even a special jingle telling me he joined my party
>just fucking 5 seconds of nothing
what the fuck?

Was Metal Slash only in DQ8 and DQ9?

That makes it much better.

It's happened to me too, think it's some sort of bug this is what's supposed to play

youtu.be/_pfva9WWvXk?t=21m39s

youtu.be/_pfva9WWvXk?t=22m21s

wrong time stamp

I'm level 14(everyone but Ruff) and on the island with the robots. How far till job classes and am I too overpowered or just perfect?

No, it's in 7, and other games as well.

Hatchet Man or other "guaranteed crit if they hit" moves are often more effective for anything beyond a basic Metal Slime though

A few more islands
Just keep playing normally, leveling slows down a lot around then.

>get Sir Mervyn
>super grandiose entrance
>he doesn't have shit class-wise
At least he joins at level 19. Back to the grind again. I'm happy to finally get a new party member though

Yeah I'd recommend grinding him up to an advanced class at least before continuing.

I'm planning on making him a Godhand or whatever the new name for that is, so right now he's a Paladin then I'll get Gladiator done.

What vocation has the revive spell?

Out of the basic classes, Priest and Dancer both get revive spells

I see. Time to grind that shit again. Graco V fucked my shit up.

What the hell does photo-bombing Kotori have to do with Dragon Quest VII?

Oh, might've been Troubadour, not Dancer now that I think about it

>that first hour of the game
What the fuck were they thinking? Especially when you go to a "dungeon" where all you do is go to four tombs and step on two buttons (each) watching short cutscenes each time before you grab an item? Yeah it's just the beginning but holy shit, no DQ has ever had a start this tedious.

>The Idol class is super useful, Free 50 HP to your entire party every turn.

Goddamn, maybe I should get that.

Is that regen or does it take a turn?

Are you me user? Literally the same team I'm currently rocking.

They were thinking that the original was even worse and shaved 2 or 3 hours of fetch quests off of the intro.

Throw rocks at them m8

It's Hustle, it's great midgame before you get enough MP to spam Omniheal.

>no DQ has ever had a start this tedious.
DQ7 on the PS1

That's not effected by blind? Shit my only Thief at the time was Ruff and I always used Sic 'em over Throw Rocks.

I'll probably take the same route. I'll definitely master a couple of basic vocations then stop him at Paladin and continue to play the game normally again

I don't know, what level are you?

>no DQ has ever had a start this tedious.
Dragon Quest V, VI, VII, VIII and IX all have at least an hour where you have story establishment and no battles. Unless you count the scripted battling of a few slimes in DQVIII.

I feel very dumb, I do not know how to make the tower facing one another. Like if I walk onto one, three moves from other sides.

>VIII
>At least an hour
Not really, unless you're combing the entire town twice over for barrels to smash. Basically you just need to
>Talk to Kalderasha
>Talk to his daughter
>Get sent out to the waterfall cave
at the bare minimum and you're on your way

I played 9 and 4(DS), how does this compare to them?

>Air Amulet boosts agility a ton
>Fire Amulet boosts attack a ton
>Water Amulet boosts defence a ton
>Earth Amulet is just a shitter Water Amulet
It's a shame there isn't some other 4th stat they could've used so all the amulets would be good.

Well, I do explore every inch of the town before I leave. And then you have 4 different cutscenes and have to go back into the town at night for a fifth cutscene. About an hour in my experience.

I'm not discounting that DQVII has a slower prologue. In fact, it took me 2 hours to get to the first island (and 4 hours in the PS1 version). But just saying that this claim that DQVII is the only game to have a slow start is wrong.

And still, at least its not as bad as something like Star Ocean 1, Golden Sun or Suikoden V.

I guess Wisdom already has the thinking cap. Style still got boned though.

DQ7's new intro took me about an hour and DQ8's intro is DEFINITELY shorter than that counting exploring the whole town.

Only an hour into it. Boring as shit. Not had a battle yet but I assume it get better so I'm grinding through the shit.
inb4 I just don't appreciate it
I've played through Dragon Quests 1-3, and a good chunk of 8 and 9.

HOW DO I GET THE FRAGMENT IN THE BUCCANHAM CHURCH? I've tried everything, in the original it's supposed to be under the altar or something, but I'm getting nothing.

Mind helping me out user? im stuck on the scary face stone statue in the pyramid to waken the earth spirit and i have no idea what i need to do to move it.

The four statues need to face "in" but it never works, no matter what kind of combination I try. There is always one facing one another side.

Who are your last four party members? Who gets to warm the bench and sit out?

get ready for literally 20 or so hours of mindless fucking retarded battles before you unlock classes for muh appearance and extra attacks, when they could have fucking did that in the first place

Its still a shorter wait then with VI

Just wait in front of it.

what about 8?

...

8 doesn't have Alltrades, You gain points every level to put into skills.

8 doesn't have classes.

8 doesn't have classes, you start getting skillpoints at like level 5 (so about 30 minutes after leaving town)

On top of your party members except for Yangus naturally learning spells pretty consistently all the way up to like level 30-40ish (and one extra one for the Hero at 65 if you grind like crazy)

Like just stand there?

For about 6-7 seconds.

I just got a chunk of red tablet from the hermit and went to the shrine thinking i had enough to unlock a new island, only to find i'm one piece short. Anybody know where i fucked up?

what do you do once your get all the gems?

How is the non-orchestral soundtrack?

When do I get Maribel back on my team?

Use the heart gem to break it into two pieces, then go meet the guy at the oasis.

Play Mr. Potato Head with the elder.

Doesn't sound that useful to be honest when you can get Multiheal on a sage that heals 100+ and only costs 6 MP. Most bosses are going to do more than 50hp damage per turn. Unless it's a regen thing then it's alright.

I get this is supposed to be old school and i hate hand holding, but a tiny bit would be nice the info thing is useless.

I'm really liking the sense of adventure this game has. DQ always delivers there, but this one is particularly good at it. It's fun revisiting locations in the present and seeing how things changed, too. Only just got done with Greenthumb Gardens so I'm still just getting started, but man, glad to finally be playing this.

To clarify, i just got back from ballymolloy and the last piece of tablet i received was the one under the castle that you have to reach by raft. Kiefer and the purple guy tell me that I should have enough to complete a tablet but I don't.

Open the menu, go to info and select the fragments option.

Style has glass slippers

That took me a while too, user. Keep it up.

Oh shit thanks dude. Apparently i missed one in the tower in ballymolloy. Don't know how i managed to fuck that one up.

>fuck you i'm coming with you
>what the fuck? why did you make me go with you? this is all your fault
holy shit I hate maribel

Try asking the fairy guy at shrine. What does he say?

youtube.com/watch?v=V0sipVrXFYU
Go down the stairs to reset it and follow this.

The fairy guy is a fucking fag. He doesn't seem to tell you anything about finding fragments, but he'll say which island you need to go to to advance the plot.

Did you get the shard in the present day mine?

There's a menu option for finding fragments. I don't know why they didn't give that job to the fairy too.

He was just telling me to put all my pieces down and move on to a new island, but I didn't have anymore pieces so his advice did fuck all.

I figured it out now man. i missed the one on the lower level of the ballymolloy tower somehow.

Maribel is great. She's a spoiled little brat, she thinks she wants an adventure but when she gets one she hates it and wants to go home, she constantly shits on her friends even though they're the only ones who can put up with her, it's great. Watching her develop into a better person throughout her adventures is a lot of fun.

I'm not that user.
I guess they didn't want to double up and give the same hints in 2 different places, but he seems so useless.
>Go to the big white island you just unlocked
>Put your fragments on a tablet to go to a new island

exactly this
it's the exact reason why Deborah is best heavenly bride

>If I died would you remember me for ever and ever, Hero?
>No
>WHAT THE FUCK WELL FUCK YOU I'D NEVER REMEMBER YOU EITHER REEEEEE
I love her

>just went to the Desert Palace in the present

Aww yeah, time to get laid. Delicious brown women at my beck and call.

This is my first DQ game and i'm really enjoying it.

Its comfy and down to earth. Sometimes, its nice to play an RPG that keeps things simple.

So any word on why the english 3ds version of 8 is taking so long? Is it from having to reinsert the old ost to make room for the voice acting? Or is it just because they want to space it out so they aren't releasing 2 dq games in a row.

I mean I've already played the ps2 ver like 6 times, but it would be nice to play it with the gameplay changes.

Can you beat Strom in this version? I took out his buddies but was unable to beat him.

In general, do you need for worry about the unwinnable fights for the Big Book of Beasts?

Dq5>every other dragons quest
Prove me wrong.

>tfw nodragonquestmonsters

so can I still grind vocations at the slime dungeon at lvl 22-23? or is there a different one I can do?

Probably the latter because there's barely anything new to translate.

>mfw "Guess the poison ain't kicked in just yet, then."

...

>mfw it finally does

Where's the sunken city in the present? I want to go kill Gracos V but it isn't showing up.

My fucking nigga right here. I loved seeing her slowly fall in love with you. In fact in the room before the final boss she says that it was actually love at first sight for her, which is why she kinda just showed up when you were picking a wife, and that she was really glad that you chose to marry her. It was just so nice to finally here her say that after all that you went through. Truly the best wife.

do do do do do, do de-de dun

Can you marry Maribel? This is very important.

Im in the 30's were should i grind for vocations?

I want to play SMTIV: Apocalypse but this game is cute and it keeps sucking me in.

>an hour no battles
look at this fucking baddie

>cut content
wow they cut out the 3 hour intro wow
>poor localization
oh you mean where they use different accents on different continents like EVERY FUCKING DRAGON QUEST GAME
>Synth ost
tell that to the fucking nazi conductor who hates america

>sexual innuendo
>blatant sexual references
>references to alcohol
>death of children
>questionable romantic situations
>feels

Rated E10 for mature.

Just ignore him, he's some dude from /vr/ who hates remakes and localizations despite constantly insisting he played the remakes first and that the originals are vastly superior

There is no way in fucking hell anyone beat both forms of Dhoulmagus in a blind first play through without grinding.

Dragon quest V was E10 too, And it's chocked full of heavy shit. ESRB ratings mostly go by gore, foul language and lewd content.

*whacking intensifies*

Unless they were long time players of the series and knew what all the skills did. Dhoulmagus is hardly the hardest boss in the series. Dragon Lord, Marduk or a host of bosses in the original PS version of Dragon Quest VII would have caused a lot more problems for first time players. Not to mention Gold Batboons, mimics and well wishers...

This was one of my first JPRGs and Dhoulmagus made me grind for multiheal. I looked up a guide and saw how I could get it. This shit right here made my jaw drop. I was not expecting this and got my ass handed to me.

>equip Cypress Stick
Is it whacking day already?

I purposely did it without grinding once
Granted that was with massive alchemy abuse and knowing EXACTLY the kind of bullshit I was going to have to deal with

Those are some large twintails.

Hero and Merv both got whacked on the first turn after the Mimics survived two Thin Airs and an Inferno, they moved before Aishe could Fizzle them

I noped the fuck out so hard.

First time I played the game, I had trouble with him. But didn't grind all the way to level 35 or whatever it was for multiheal. I just tried it a second time knowing the pattern and beat him. So it is possible.

The biggest thing is figuring out a way to deal enough damage to all his forms to find the true form. This is where boomerangs, thin air and bang come in. And using Angelo as a designated healer as he has no AOE for that battle.

Without multiheal, fighting both forms is nigh impossible. You would only have multiheal if you were grinding as well.
Thats why I said a blind first play through

Just got 2 stones at the animal island after getting Ruff. Jobs soon?

Fighting 1 form and then losing and coming back to fight the other form is one thing but being able to beat both forms at level 25 (which is where a normal player would be at) is not really possible on a BLIND playthrough

>The Cannibox wants to head over to Monster Meadows

Did I get lucky? Seems like it'd be a pretty rare monster.

No
But you can bully her

you have to use another one

I believe if you use HolyProtection or holy water and the monsters still show up that means they count. At least that's what I've read somewhere

same place as the past, to the left of the peninsula

You did but at the same time it's irrelevant because using Animal Magnetism ~10 times guarantees a monster will want to join after the fight, so outside of things like Metal Slimes that flee, nothing is actually hard to get if you want it

I just used that trick to recruit a Mimic, but after reading that other user's whacking adventures I'm scared to try its tablet

what do i do with these tablets i find at the island?

the monster ones? put them in the underground thing to visit dungeons

I'm one tablet from getting a new island (yellow pillar) but it only seems to show me to get the one in La Bravoure, but I don't think I've unlocked the supposed water island.

oh i didnt even go underground yet, any class i should avoid entirely?

did you visit the top of the church? theres a fragment there

the first ones you get are pretty easy, avoid the sand bottles one

Just got to pick professions, what are some good ass jobs mates? Thinking Martial artist for hero, sage for meribel and knight for ruff

So I heard skills from intermediste classes don't stay, is there any way to then permanently have multiheal on my characters?

healslime heart has multiheal

I think you get one early, or I just got lucky with drops

If you want to move past basic vocations, Martial Artist goes into Gladiator and Paladin, and Sage goes into Druid. Use Monster Hearts to get abilities you want and go for Hero, Godhand and Druid to get the max out of it.

I think it's the one the maid ask you to show the "Mermaid Moon", but I don't have said item yet. Last island I visited was the Spanish one with weird tower.

user NO

Sorry.

did you check the well

Looks like I hadn't.

She actually does end up poisoning someone.

A young man can't spend all day whackering

Maribel leaves way to many times.

so how the fuck do I use monsters in monster meadow? ive sent a good amount of them but the old fucker there keeps saying I have none

ROCKY! WHY?!

I'm 40 hours and I'm level 27 for MC and Mirabel, but they haven't been able to master their classes for a while. How many islands until I'll be able to max their vocation?
I'm at Hardlypool.

>Does my family have any heirlooms? Why of course we do: me! Father always tells me that I'm his little treasure!

There's no rule that says you have to win on your first try. Losing a fight and then learning from it is something Dragon Quest does a lot. But there's also people who were able to do it, despite how 'nigh impossible' you think it is.

Either way, you don't need to grind for multiheal as you keep claiming. Whereas a boss like Murdaw in Dragon Quest VI, it is much harder to beat him without having full level 20 just because you need the extra HP to survive his blows.

you have to find the monster meadow island

you're quite overleveled man

I was 24 at that part and overleveled
