Screw the slots just do the matching game. With a pen and paper you can write down the spots. As long as you don't get shuffle early on it is reallyeasyto win. Win a bunch of times and you get a ton of gear. In present day casino you can even get the zombiebane sword. Best sword in the game for age and overpowered that early on. Sell all the shit you don't need and swim in the gold.

Yeah. Mastering sailor gives you lightning, a pretty nice skill that hits every enemy for about 45-60 damage at 0 mp. Pirate also has jolly roger and sword dance. Not the best but far from useless, I reccomend it.

What I'm wondering is after already having one character take first place, do you just have to reach the original stat threshold for first place or do you have to beat the previous character's record

There are 4 different worlds/area that you go to. Once you finish all of the main quests and beat the boss monster you move onto the next one.
I've only got to the 2nd so far but it's pretty different to the first.
You're given blueprints to create certain buildings or structures for the NPCs as well, but you can make your own stuff.

Basically. Metal slash is just not good in this game.

Roundhouse does far more to a moble of metal slimes after a certain point. It's borderline useful on liquid metals though but you're still most likely better off with hatchet man.

Since it's also a slow leveler, and it leads to no other classes innately (still counts towards a hero class), I would say avoid it till till you have nothing else better to do than level it.

Hero and Champ are in the tier above Armamentalist so it's not a fair comparison really.

Yeah Sage is really good. Kafrizzle hits for about 200 and Multiheal shuts down any boss' offence for a long time.

Well there is always monster classes. Platkings resistances make it better than most classes on that alone. However, it's amazingly hard to access. It requires leveling about 16 monster classes innately, getting 110 mini medals, or getting one to drop from the second bonus dungeon.

Hustle has the benefit of being a dance leading to some crazy combos with bounce. You can bounce yourself and the enemy simply can't harm you with spells anymore. Hustle will go through this as well as gritty ditty which boosts party defense.

Luminary also has a passive chance to cause enemies to miss their turn, based on their Style

Well the only time that can feasibly happen when boosting your defense with gritty ditty are strong breath attacks. The final boss (and a mob or two in that dungeon) are the only ones that do that. The final boss also spaces that out decently anyway. so in two turns of dancing for no cost you're right back in the mix.

Hero gets Omniheal

Hero is really only useful for it's innate ability in a true late game scenario. Ultra hit is far more useful. It hits metal slimes and does the most damage in the game ignoring magic burst.

Yeah Alltrades is pretty anti-climactic. A tiny island and all you do is go straight to the abbey and get classes.

Fun tip. Kaswoosh does ridiculous amounts of damage to Material monsters (golems). Maribel's basic whip is only doing 12 damage to them, but Kaswoosh does 160 damage.

another raises his guaranteed by 2 levels. His final unique ability skill calls random arena monsters:

8 is good, 4/5 is good on mobile or DS(4 has party chat on mobile only), also 1 or 3 for something a bit older are also good.

The mobile version of DQIV is ironically the best version of the game because it's the only western remake with party chat intact

I'd recommend starting with that, V (on DS), or VIII (PS2 or soon 3DS)

Really though DQ games are all similar enough that you can start anywhere you want, I wouldn't recommend starting with I or II but any other game in the series is a fair choice

If you played on the PS1 before then you probably played 7, the remake of which was just finally released outside of Japan, and is what most people here are talking about.

I wouldn't recommend the mobile versions but I don't use my phone for games in general cause I hate playing games not made for touch screens on a touch screen.

III on the SNES, IV and V on the DS, or 8 on the PS2 should all be easy enough to emulate. 8 got a 3DS port that should be coming out in English in a few months as well.

You can only play horizontaly on the phone though. But if you don't care about party chat, you should go eith the DS version, wheter it's on the ds, or a DS emulator dosnt matter.

People forget his style has been evolving for the entirety of his career.

He was, at a certain time, paid to mimic dragonball in all his other works anyway.

His monsters though have always been top notch. Even the simple slime has a charm and personality that transcends the amorphous blobs in every other rpg by virtue it's simplicity.

You might be able to Fizzle her, most bosses before you get classes are pretty vulnerable to Fizzle/Dazzle

There are tablet dungeons after the final boss yes. The almighty makes the final boss look like a joke. However, if you can fight the final boss, you should also be able to re-recruit maribel by visiting her at her house.

You're gonna want to do a handful of basic jobs on everyone to unlock some advanced classes though. I recommend making both Maribel and Ruff a priest at some point for emergency heals.

You need to look up what you want the final class to be on each character and work backwards.

The exception being Shepard/Monster Masher and Sailor/Pirate, since it doesn't really lead to an advanced class. Unless you want to go Hero, which accepts any intermediate classes.

Maribel: warrior, monk, mage, priest, dancer, troubador, jester

I just did the grinding for Mervyn and Aishe's classes outside of Aeolus Vale, got Hero and Ruff through an extra basic vocation or two while I was at it as well.

I do not believe tablets you create yourself have level caps. I have a party of level 40's that still gain job experience from a lvl4. stone golem tablet.

That being said, at that point, you can just level jobs near krage with basic slimes appearing more often then not, with the occasional metal king to boost that level too.

That also being said, dlc dungeons dont have a job cap either so it may be better just doing the metal mannequin tablet as they give great xp and job levels.
