I want to do infinite things to Elizabeth.

Biocock Intimate?

>"Because it's too popular."
I know this is bait. but still
It is because it didn't even do a quarter of the shit the previous games did. Has passing glances at the previous games and those passing glance prove to make the rest of the story shit by osmosis.

Also it is all around a mediocre pile of shit.

>hurr durr here are all these fake choices we present you throughout the entire game with in every single aspect of it from story to gameplay

youtube.com/watch?v=VdNhwb7iuI4

The whole game is fucking fake, it might as well be a Telltale game.

The city felt really disjointed, the game was nothing but a shooting gallery, and everything great about it was severely underused. Dlcs were astonishing though

>6 sick pieces of cover art to choose from
>They pick the worst one to market the game
Everytime

>said my imaginary friend

No, Bioshock Infinite had a slew of serious design flaws that really held it back from being the amazing game that everyone acted like it was

>"Welcome to live your life"
>Here is a choice
>it's shit
>doesn't lead to anything
>shit
The game

it had so much potential
Even looking at these posters I'm interested, like the handy man or whatever they were, and their relationship with the city
Instead they're just tougher guards with no real lore reason that they exist

>"This game is great."
"Why?"
>"IGN hates it."

Name it.

It's one of those games where it's good the first time you play but then you realise how awful it is for the second time.

shit plasmids

tonics reduced to shitty "gear" system

only good weapon was revolver

so much fucking ammo/eve lying around, if you somehow run out elizabeth could open tears to reveal crates full of more ammo as well as throwing you more ammo, money, and eve

air rail system only serves to facilitate cinematic takedowns

just a waste of potential through and through

>if its popular, it must be good!

>potential
This is not an argument, every game has so much potential that is never realized.

Not a single person has made that argument though. You are just pulling shit out of your ass in hopes to start an argument. Knock it off dingus.

>guns don't matter, choose anything
>power ups don't matter, choose anything
>puzzles watered down to nothing
>zip lines feel incredibly bland
>money saved almost exclusively for upgrades. Machine doesn't have the weapon upgrade for your main weapon? Move on
>can see the ending a mile away
>they realize that and make the ending so convoluted you feel as if somethings been stolen from you
>you realize what it was
>it was 60USD
>play it for 6 hours and then never again

The only good parts of that game is the atmosphere of racism. Felt like beneath all the wonder and cleanliness was a mountain of filth and hatred. But that's it.

Nice

The game was great. You faggots are just mad jelly that it got so popular and normies stole it. The move away from plasmids/tonics towards a more combat oriented game was great because it made for more open ended levels that has more replay value. The previous games had more ideas, more overall, Infinite is the better package and a lot more accessible.

>The only good parts of that game is the atmosphere of racism. Felt like beneath all the wonder and cleanliness was a mountain of filth and hatred. But that's it.

Fucking really? It's one of the most clichéd settings around and it baffles me how things get a free pass by just putting race shit in. Bioshock 1 and 2 did the same in creating a feeling of social divide without resorting to tired old race tropes.

Clichéd setting? I might be wrong but I can't remember any games within five years of bioshock infinite that dealt with racism in that same way.

I don't know, I'm saying the ONLY good part of the game was its setting because, in my experience, at least outside of the bioshock franchise, that kind of backdrop doesn't occur often

That one chinese hack and slash edgefest

>i don't like it so its bad!

It was fun, but severely flawed with its linearity, nonsense plot and low difficulty.

Devs promised us more versatile and open-ended gameplay, instead we got corridor shooter #9283.

>we could have had top middle, bottom left, or bottom right

Fuck

who cares if the game didnt provide choices. I dont remember buying a bioshock game because "muh cinematic choice driven experience" I got it so I can shoot things in a story/ world that's not another brown middle east desert.

Bottom left looks the best desu, top right and bottom mid look like your generic action game, top left just looks weird like something I would see in some sort of shovelware game.

We do have bottom left.
Flip the cover over.

Instead, you get a brown city.

Oh what could've been

youtube.com/watch?v=Y_DSfjAdhlU

Believe it or not, the CG ones are the only good ones. The other ones are just a random piece of concept art fitted somewhere on there. The first one straight up looks straight out of deviantart.

Infinite barely did anything with the racism stuff though, that's the problem.
If your going to have a theme in a game, utitlize it for the whole game, not just for a non-choice event in the beginning, some audio logs, and separate bathrooms.

>ignoring all the legitimate complaints about the game so you can shit post

1 out 10 you got me.

>"This game is too popular."
"Why?"
>"Because it sucks."

More like
>This game is popular!
Why?
>Because it's shit

>I like it so it's good!

I didn't like it because the gameplay was the worst in the series, I couldn't care less about the story and Elizabeth even with all the porn

I didn't play infinite, but the first Bioshock got hyped to hell and then when I played it it just was a mediocre shooter with some cool powers and a nice setting, but nothing really fun.
Then people go about how the story is super and the twist was great, but for me it just didn't work.

>bonglish accent
No thanks.

Wait a minute...

It sucks because it's a 10 times more linear game as the games it tries to be a sequel to, with a Call of Dutilized gameplay direction that doesn't even give you half the enemy variety as Bioshock 2 and the two times it does try to do anything different with enemies it's a scripted boss fight

That all would have been absolutely servicable if the story was even barely as good as the paid reviews suggested, but lets be honest here, that game was nothing but an insult to any critically thinking person, from "Wait a minute that card" over Elizabeth going running around and dancing with complete strangers and acting pretty normal and like a very social person with very normal social skills, despite being literally locked away from society for her entire life protected by a fucking huge robot cock, who its creator thought playing C-A-G-E on a musical instrument was a great and very secure way to control a murderbot, Elizabeth destroying NY City for no reason in the future and Booker/Comstock twist which is almost the same as the Jack/Ryan's son twist from BS1 where you just find out your character was related to the bad guy all along, woah shocker right there

Graphically this game is a mess and it already was way back when it first came out.

Infinite was so bad I am still mad at this purchase after all these years.
It is so bad I can't forget it, as far as horrible events in history it is up there with World War 2 and Other M.

3/10 I almost fell for it.

holy fuck dude the MAIN game mechanic was the concept of the Little Sisters and Adam. they did a fucking amazing job blending the story of adam, the little sisters, and the big daddies and splicers while presenting you with a number of choices that affect the game and the story. How many fucking endings were there in the first game?

Not to mention you can either:
-take on the big daddies and harvest
-kill big daddy and save
-or just avoid them as much as possible

changes the game what you do. That is why infinite was such fucking trash. It was a linear funhouse with a shitty wrapping of "bioshock" with an even more retarded story and convoluted plot.

What I wanted
>a journey through a strange city that's collapsing into itself
>weird things happening, even weirder characters
>free to explore the city

What I got
>just run though these hallways and gun down everything
>superscience affecting the city and it's inhabitants on major scale?
>nah just some bottled superpowers lying on the floor
>rest of the city is just a normal city that happens to be floating
>this dude's on fire that should be enough

>because it's popular
Not because it was a watered down, linear version of the last ones with none of the content shown at games press conferences prior to release and an unfinished campaign?
Fucking bait and it still got me mad.

The main mechanic of Bioshock was never the supposed moral choice of harvesting vs saving. People like to reference that in passing assuming but that's bullshit. Saving the little sisters really just amounted to you get like 300-400 extra adam, and a different endind that's it.

The main mechanic of Bioshock games has always been the player having guns and bio weapons and mixing up the combat with that. If anything, addition of sky rails takes advantage of the enviornment more than Bio1 did with water, which i believe was none. Bio1 was just ElectroBolt3 then headshot. You're lying to yourself if you think it was anything more than that. I will concede, however, that Bio1 had variety going for it, weapons, ammo, and plasmids. Although i like the simplicity of each vigor having a tap and a hold version. maybe im a casual but i prefered Infinite.

It's bad because it's a game that focuses on spectacle and pretty environments rather than actually having satisfying shooting mechanics and non bullet-sponge enemies. Popularity has nothing to do with it.

I wish this game had a newgameplus mode.

>How many fucking endings were there in the first game?
2. and both were out of left field, ham fisted, rushed shit. don't act like 1 is a flawless masterpiece, because its not. its a great game, but it has issues. mainly in the last third of the game.

Why the fuck did they give you a 2 gun limit then introduce you to a gun enhancing mechanic? What were they thinking?

>bonglish accent
Uneducated American detected.

>"Because (insert any of the following)"
>it has all the style and none of the imagination of the originals
>the gameplay is one-note as fuck
>nearly every Vigor they just got lazy with and slapped "hold to create another god damn trap" as its alternate use
>exploration is nearly nonexistent
>the story falls off a fucking cliff 2/3 of the way through
>the writer didn't have their own plan to tie the story together, they literally just wanted to make themselves feel stupid
>it was scrapped repeatedly and rushed to hell just to get the thing finished, only resembling its early form in visual only
>it wants to play off the racism angle but never has the balls to actually portray anything racist in any substantial way, the Vox just come across as massive assholes that we're expected to sympathize with

Fixed, now find another bait topic.

This was the most hilarious part of Bioshock Infinite to me

I don't care how triggered you get over someone agreeing with some fag you hate. He's right.

Said nobody ever.

>You just hate it because it's popular!

I'm actually a big fan of matt's myself, but have an original thought, yeah?

regardless, a lack of racism isnt close to infinite's bigger problems. its a nitpick if anything. I just want the atmosphere seen in 2010, and the gameplay seen in 2011. we got neither.

Even then, why is that wrong? If a game is bad, why shouldn't you dislike it when it's getting praised by everyone?

That's some shitty arguing. You're dismissing the claim because someone is repeating is, it doesn't make it wrong, just makes you look like a fag, yeah?

>be the messiah of a people
>die for them
>come back
>they just starting shooting you

>mfw the writers don't even try to explain it with a sentence or two, the game has just accepted its failure.

I didn't dismiss it though, I just said its not a big deal. Because it's not. I'd rather discuss its gameplay shortcomings than the lack of audible "nigger" drops. the shock games are more than their setting and atmosphere. they stick to gameplay principles that were present up until infinite.

There's many other issues listed above, dismissing the entirety over a single line is by definition nitpicking.

>we could have had bioshock 1/2 except set in the sky but instead we got cawadoody waifushit edition

it hurts

>we're too lazy to try moving these guns
>if we enter this tear in reality we can't come back
>so let's go through this tear to get guns as part of a deal in a dimension we can't come back to

Any Sonic game.

...

god hand

You so nearly made it.

That one made me think the game was being ironically bad for a bit. Maybe the writers were?

I remember how much praise this game got when it came out. I loved it. Shame it was so popular or it wouldn't get so much hate.

>suddenly

>We hopped through a dozen different dimensions
>The dimension we promised things and originally were is long gone in the sea of infinite universes
>Uhhh, we got the guns but how do we move them? Fuck it, hop again!
>Well, this dimension sucks. We'll just stay here and fight off the Vox
>Why can't we just jump into a dimension where things are sorta right?

the more attention gets, the more critical outliers will become of it. "hmm, is it really this good? i doubt it lol"

whens the last time you saw someone shit on spacechem? what IS spacechem, you ask? exactly.

Does Levine just not get how alternate dimensions work? Seriously it is not a hard concept to grasp and yet any average superhero cartoon can handle the subject infinitely better. I mean dimension hopping just once already invalidates pretty much everything they've done thus far, and introducing the concept of infinite alternate dimensions where everything that could have happened has happened makes the whole game feel completely pointless. Why should I care about any of this when this is just one set of Booker and Elizabeth that we're following? There is both an equal number of dimensions where they're both perfectly happy as there are ones where they all died horribly painful deaths and plenty where they just don't exist in the first place. It's all completely meaningless.

Because:
Linear as fuck
Few plasmids
Two weapon rule
Poorly thought-out loot system
Boys of Silence have a fucking vision cone
No Songbird boss fight
One ending

>implying the two endings in bioshock 1 were better than infinite's

infinite's was at least built up to. and not a pre-rendered, 720p fmv.

Fuck off with this logic. It sucked when it came out, it sucks now. Even by the standards of those who made it. The amount of content thrown away in a rush to get it out the door and turn a profit after years of development is staggering.

Just didnt like the plot. thats it.

>Saving little sisters
>extra Adam
Please play the games before making threads

A lot of build up is meaningless when there's no real payoff. I prefer static happy/bad endings that make sense and wrap things up nicely to Infinite desperately trying to grasp concepts that it is incapable of handling properly in an ending that makes the whole journey feel like a waste of time.

im with you, but do you have an actual source on the amount of content cut? would love to know. such a different game from 2011, and 2010 in particular

really it's not like it matters, i played with wrench and adampowers only and had hundreds upon hundreds of points to spare by about 3/4 through. saved all sisters so that mrs. intercom loved my precious wrench-wielding soul.

I literally just beat bio1 tonight, after replaying it. the ending is shit, man. disregarding the infinite comparison, its shit. everything after ryan is mediocre, and after that lazy boss fight the game concludes in the span of about 1 minute. rushed, lazy, unfulfilling, bad.

i suffer from this
my solution is to simply avoid the game for years
then when i play it, there's a small section of gamers who actually still play it, and im part of the small group again

speaking of which, i still havent beaten bioshock infinite, though i did finish dishonored a few weeks ago

Watch the golden reels from Bioshock remastered. You get some insight into Ken Levine's thought process there, and you can see it playing out years later in Infinite.

I have been playing it for the past three days and let me tell you, the game is making me literally angry when I play it. the controls are fucking terrible, everything is designed to interrupt a fight ''CATCH BOOKER'' ''OH LOOK YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS, IF YOU LOOKED SOMEWHERE ELSE WHEN THIS HAPPENED TOO BAD!''

are they on youtube? the remaster sucks

Not to mention the game is stupidly short.

>explore everything
>save every sister
>max out all camera research
>only lasts 13 hours

yeah they're on youtube. i've watched the first 3 so far, they're excellent. you can see how in Bioshock 1, they actually originally wanted to do "guy infiltrates cult to save/kidnap a girl".

yeah, it is pretty short. even on hard. you can tell after ryan they were just padding out length. that final big daddy escort section is worthless. and hey, thats cool. I really wish the commentary was actually done by levine and not keighly, for some random reason they chose him of all people. but oh well

In the first one at least saving all the sisters gets you more in the end than harvesting thanks to the gifts they give you. Don't remember if it's the same ratio for 2.

Oh the ending to 1 certainly isn't good, can't argue that but I prefer it 100% to Infinite. Atlus is a terrible boss and the ending is over extremely quickly. The good ending is ridiculously sweet and saccharine for what the game is and the bad end is just silly but I still find that more enjoyable than Infinite. Infinite certainly tried to do more but it still failed just as badly only now we don't even get a decent resolution. Instead everyone you spent the game with now never existed but hey, at least some random version of them in another dimension is happy. Yay.

>one of my favorite parts of Bioshock combat was using plasmids to take advantage of environmental hazards

>play Infinite
>"press E to summon this 10 foot wide puddle in the middle of a huge open plaza where all the enemies have guns"

I remember seeing the concept stuff they released and being excited for Infinite. Then I heard about the cut content and I got worried. Then it was confirmed the game was gutted of anything good. Then the tits were removed because it triggered someone's delicate sensibilities. Then Wait a minute that card. Then Levine admitting on reddit he had no idea what he was doing with the themes or ending.

Easiest 60 I've saved.

Infinite tried to wrap up the story in a shocking yet fulfilling way. But 1 doesn't even try. The story is wrapped up when Ryan dies, the 2 hours of game after that are you trying to kill fontaine so he doesnt control the city. then you either save the little sisters or splicers escape into the surface. both have absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the game, its just logical, "here's what would happen" endings that aren't even rendered in-game, probably because the engine doesnt lend itself well to cinematics. So while infinite is more contradictory and pandering, it at least tries, and the moment itself has some impact.

>for some random reason they chose him of all people.

It's because he's good at it. Game devs aren;'t always the best when it comes to talking about what they do and without Geoff leading them on and asking the right questions most of that stuff would have never come up and it would have been a whole lot of Levine talking about how great Elizabeth is while Shawn mumbled out something here and there.

>tfw you preordered it just for free Civ V and XCOM and you've gotten exponentially more play time out of those

>Infinite tried to wrap up the story in a shocking yet fulfilling way.
Not even close. Even Levine admitted he fudged the ending, and anyone with half a working brain can see that a mile away.

I said tried.

I'm curious, does anyone here think Bioshock 2 had a better ending than Bioshock Infinite?
What about Minerva's Den?

>exponentially

I certainly do, it even gives a different ending if you harvest or not

Multiple endings is a cancer meme that should die, instead of encouraging you to replay the game with good gameplay they force you to do it only to watch another cinematic, a whole game where nothing else changes but a damn video.

I still replayed Bioshock many times, I love that game but fuck multiple endings and divergent paths.

The cancer that needs to die is the "pick an ending" or "the only difference is a 5 second clip right at the end of the ending" bullshit.

Bioshock 1 and 2 were pretty standard FPSes with the added bonus of a relatively interesting setting and relatively interesting major enemies.

If Bioshock 1 and 2 were businessmen, Infinite was a monkey wearing a tie and a bowler hat.

>trying to get bioshock 1 remastered
>they want proof of purchase of the original bioshock1
was i supposed to have kept a receipt for a cd i bought 10 years ago?
it's so old it didn't even have a cd key

Post Elizabeth.

>buy bioshock 1 recently from g2a on steam for PC for like $2

>the remastered version just appears in my account

Hardly.

It doesn't suck because it's popular, but because it's popular and sucks means that people will hold a greater amount of contempt for it.

If it was unpopular then it would have just died a quiet death.

i already thought of that, but it'd up to like 9 bucks now on g2a and steam is like 15

People who think that Bioshock infinite's message had anything to do with racism are dumber than the people who jerk it off and think it's a great game. I'm not a fan of the game either, but game's message had jack shit to do with racism.

Racism is just something in the background. The entire theme of the game is about redemption and its DLC's are about that as well. The game literally begins with a fuckin baptism and ends with one as well. The premise of the game begins like Booker is only trying to settle his debt and look out for himself, but as the game continues, Booker feels compels to help Elizabeth despite his own problems because he is subconsciously trying to atone for what he did to Sara and later on, he is haunted again by guilt when he realizes that he failed to protect Elizabeth which subsequently leads to the destruction of New York.

Now, people may not like the multiple realities plot, but I think that was done to show how difficult it is to atone and redeem yourself. Booker tries over a hundred times and fails because redemption isn't as easy as saying sorry, it's about making reparations (saving and freeing Elizabeth and giving her the life she never had) and facing the consequences of your actions (the drowning).

That video is fuckin awful. Complains about racism themes when the game had nothing to do with it and it's main critique is the "grandfather paradox" in a game with multiple realities and thus, multiple timelines. The grandfather paradox is only relevant criticism in a world with a single reality and thus a single, linear timeline.

It's like all the retards on Cred Forums who complain about Bioshock are mindless drones that watched that video and regurgitate all his points without any original thought. You guys are worse than the people who praise this game.

Goddamn high school dropouts never used the critical thinking part of their brain in their entire lives.

>mfw when I googled it

I feel bad that you typed up this paragraph. Infinite has no deep underlying themes at all. Please stop wasting your time.

> but I think that was done to show how difficult it is to atone
No, it was done because when Levine thought about multiverse theory, it made him feel stupid, so he added it to the game. Stop trying to look for deeper meaning to justify your buyer's remorse, there is none.

It's certainly deeper than "le racism is bad :^)" theme that everyone seems to think it's about.

This is a good post

I'm saying the theme of infinite is deeper than "racism is bad", I never said it was perfect. I have no regrets having played it or having paid for it (bioshock triple pack). Because while there were some plot-holes and gameplay issues (not much freedom and pigeon-holed to 2 guns), it was still enjoyable to me because I respected the fact that they had done something original with its story despite its flaws.

>my face when when

>mfw when I went to the atm machine and forgot my pin number

The grandfather paradox wouldn't apply in a world with multiple realities, except Bioshock Infinite specifically weasels its way out of how that works by still trying to have decisions that impact the entire multiverse.

It falls into the same cause and effect loop because it includes shit like "X murders all possible Ys, erasing all possible sources of X".

>Did someone say "too popular"?

When I first played that part where you throw the ball at the black dude it didn't even occur that me that it was a race thing, and aside from that small moment the racism in infinite barely exists
