No i mean mods that will enhance HL2, not change the game into something completely different. Like better lighting, new enemies that fit the game, weapons that fit the game etc.

Mods haven't interested me much.. Well they have, but i never bothered to learn how back in the day, so i forgot about it completely. So i also don't know where to get them

Well, you can play cinematic mod without the extra crap and it looks rather nice.

HL2: Update is on Steam and is mostly just fixes bugs and adds better lighting, plus some nice little bits like super high push force explosions for awesome ragdolls in a few sequences. It's all super subtle stuff that adds up to just an objectively improved experience, such that there's no reason to play the original version any more.

Minerva:Metastasis is a quasi-canon mod (the creator was hired into Valve on the strength of this mod, and as of the latest JIRA leaks is listed as the head of the HL3 team) that should not be missed. It is basically a masterpiece of linear cinematic FPS level design, with just a handful of fairly large maps which you're lead on amazing corkscrews through.

There's also 'Research & Development', a professional-quality EP2 mod using solely the gravity gun.

And 'Underhell', a relatively unpolished offering (relative to the other three, that is), but notable for being truly EPIC scale, basically a total conversion full-length game (and a half) already and they've only released the first chapter. It's also two games in one, with a framing narrative part (The House) which is a smaller, straight horror game, and then the main game which is a horror/scifi themed action game. It's a total trip and worth playing, if you don't mind giving some time to an 'unpolished' game (eg. hilarious voice acting, some repetitive/plain parts of maps, sometimes-wonky AI).
