Sure. I'll start with the class of the genre, the single best ongoing series of JRPGs that are still getting localized today, the Trails series. See pic related. Every single game in this series meets or exceeds the very high standards established by the games we got in the PS1 golden era of JRPGs.

Beyond that, there is the Compile Heart games like Fairy Fencer F and the Neptunia games, which are better than anything the west has made in the last 10 years. Yeah, they reuse assets, but whatever. The characters are fun and endearing, the music is worth listening to, and the stories are just mediocre enough to justify the playthrough.

Then there are all the remakes and ports that have been made for the great classics from the SNES and PS1 days.

At least in video games, it was exceptionally common to contract Japanese developers (like TOSE, Graphic Research, and even Atlus) to make games based on western properties because 1) Japanese labor was cheap and 2) NES development documentation was essentially only in Japanese; western docs were crudely translated from Japanese. The 90s is when the Japanese stopped being hired for licensed tie-ins, but they still had their own games to sell. Part of me wonders how those garbage games like Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle or those Ren and Stimpy games would've turned out had they got the Japs to make them.
