It was suggested that they should branch out and listen to more of the community, but she said that they only need to listen to just her because then they'd find out what an absolute shit job she is doing at relaying what the community wants.
It's actually a total clusterfuck over there right now.
The Sims, or at least that style of game, is a guilty pleasure of mine. Hopefully this either makes EA get their shit together, or allows another company to release a comparable product.
Brandon Richardson
>a woman is being bad at being a community manager again
This literally keeps happening. The community manager should always be a fat dude
Carter Taylor
Also if anyone noticed the woman in OP image was the general manager for The Sims 4 and the most recent Sims City.
She pretty much completely ruined these 2 franchises with her direction.
James Barnes
I'm not surprised. Even with all its flaws, awful coding and optimization as well as the the endless cash grabbing, up until Sims 3 you could still say the series is going in the right direction and progressing.
But then Sims 4 comes along and any illusion of that is destroyed. Why would you want to work on a game series that is going backwards?
Angel Flores
I haven't played with Sims 4 much. Overall it's not bad, but the style of the game is pretty heinous and fugly.
Sims 3 was better looking, although more clumsy. Still I prefer that over Sims 4.
Also >still no Supernatural/Magical expansion Why is this allowed?
Dylan Sanders
Here is a good video of the game from the perspective of a guy who has been a fan of the series for a long time too:
There is not even weather yet, they've absolutely added nothing interesting at all to the game. Just watch this video to see:
Thomas Phillips
Guess I'll reinstall Sims 4. Are the lewd mods even worth it?
Michael Ortiz
Sims 2 and 3 and the superior games still, and have more lewd mods and options
Michael Wood
>a woman fucks up at her job >this is a surprise to anyone Really? It's 2016 people.
Ethan Hughes
Holy FUCK what's up with the sexism in this thread? If this was a man, everyone would be commenting at what a shitty job they did, but since it's a women, everyone is talking about how women shouldn't be in positions of power.
Landon Nelson
A lot of the original Sims team was women, that's not the issue at all here take it back to Cred Forums
Colton Richardson
>Sims to Sims 2 we give up all these expansions for full 3D, moods, dreams, fears and a bunch of other mechanics >Sims 2 to Sims 3 we give up all these expansions for what is essentially an open world, a neighbourhood where your sims can walk around town and all households can progress at the same time >Sims 3 to Sims 4 we give up all these expansions for.... slightly better character customization? and we lose the open world? yeah I think I'll stick to 3
Liam Stewart
When will Colossal Order make their own infinitely better Sims game?
Juan Carter
>There is not even weather yet
eh, I've never had a Seasons expansion installed before but I hear people say it was terrific. My PC was pretty good, but the loading times made me wanna murder somebody. So I tried to limit myself to one or two expansions at most.
I kinda regret missing out on it now.
Michael Cooper
Well...can you provide a convincing argument otherwise? One that doesn't rely on feels or emotions, but logic?
Camden Davis
>This board probably doesn't care but maybe someone does
This is my favorite thing to discuss on Cred Forums actually. I come here to see this sort of thing.
Ayden Walker
Would you like something similar to what Cities: Skylines did in relation to SimCity?
Aaron Jackson
isn't maxis just a corpse these days and the women "involved" in the company just necrophiliacs?
Connor Gray
it's just awful optimization and shitty code and an all around mess
it's absolutely baffling how one of the biggest franchises of all time, and a PC exclusive at that, is running this fucking awful
Charles Collins
>Holy FUCK what's up with the sexism in this thread? If this was a man, everyone would be commenting at what a shitty job they did, but since it's a women, everyone is talking about how women shouldn't be in positions of power.
It's just Cred Forums femanon. They're pretty misogynistic here, though I can't say without reason. So the result is that women who had done nothing wrong get thrown under the bus along with extreme SJW's and manipulative bitches.
Sad, really.
Jeremiah Roberts
>The community manager should always be a fat dude
This. They're guaranteed to 1) be harden as fuck against internet ridicule, as they've been ridiculed in person their whole lives and 2) a huge nerd about the game, which other nerds can relate to
Dylan Martin
>sims 4
who cares, sims is fucking dead. 4 was a travesty that put ea's jewosity on a whole other level
Daniel Martin
Fucking bumping this shit while I read up. Holy shit a real thread
You mean make a fun game that's aimed at a different market segment and with pretty great mod support?
Fuck yeah, I'd be willing to try that. Especially if it copies it's DLC scheme of integrating a lot of the new mechanics into the base game for free via updates instead of ALL new content being paywalled.
Michael Morgan
Yeah sims games have always had a reputation for loading at a snail's pace, but Sims 3 took it to a whole new level.
Eli Perez
I'm sorry, but the burden of proof falls on you. You are the one making the claim that "women shouldn't be community managers" or something of that sort. You can't just make a general claim like that and expect someone to refute it. Additionally, since you like jerking off to "logic" and "reason" so much, do you have any statistics to suggest that women shouldn't be in positions of power?
Luis Fisher
Bioware, Maxis and Mobile. What a weird collection.
Management at EA continues to be a big old game of musical chairs.
If you think a post or poster is stupid, then just ignore it.
Sage and move on.
Same shit as five years ago, same shit as ten years ago.
Hunter Cox
Having women in the trenches, that seems to give you a chance that it might turn out well Giving them second tier work like community management just seems to invite nothing but disater.
Brayden Morgan
Shit. I meant to reply to
Anthony Walker
>go to wiki >picture of a guy that doesn't even appear fat >false
Fuck off retard. If you're going to naysay me, properly naysay me you little cunt.
Mason Torres
There were women community managers in the old games, too. This has nothing to do with them being women, it has to do with them being completely incompetent and shit at their job.
Quit trying to change the issue into something political and completely different from the real problems.
Wyatt Stewart
Yeah that'd be pretty dope.
Nolan Ross
>and with pretty great mod support?
The reasons why this doesn't happen with the Sims franchise are more depressing than you would think.
It ain't just the cash grab of DLC, sadly.
Cameron Hughes
>fat guys dotn make good community managers! see this skinny jew for example
wat
David Butler
>thinks sexism is new to Cred Forums There's been multiple cases in the past few years where women in positions like this have been getting fired. Women in the video game industry are all fucking mental baskets to begin with. Putting them in any position to deal with customers is just a bad fucking choice to begin with.
Gabriel Powell
I'm sure you posted this due to actual concerns about the community manager, and not because of anything you've read from a certain disgruntled group of gamers.
Benjamin Perez
Go on
Logan Anderson
Lemme guess, the coding is a total mess that makes it near impossible for anyone but the devs to do more than add new assets into it?
Aaron Lopez
I did yes, I'm worried about the series as it's my favorite game series of all time. It's sad to see it go down the drain and I hope something like this happens to it:
Hunter Hernandez
To be fair, sims 3 didn't yet this time in it's life cycle either.
Kayden Walker
Sims 3 had other new, actually meaningful stuff to make up for it.
Aiden Bailey
Should women be anything in vidya development, besides pretty actresses for 3d scanning and voice acting?
Bentley Ross
True but The Sims 3 had added actual interesting shit by this time, too. And the base game was solid enough to expand on, too.
The Sims 4 is literally: >here are some more options for jobs >here are some more options for chairs >next expansion, now you can live in a city instead of a suburb
I'm not even kidding, they think the majority of people who play this game are women who just want to play dress up doll and don't really give a shit about actual game development features.
And while that may be the stereotype of the game, I think they are very, very much wrong as sales of the game and reviews are generally pretty negative.
Elijah Jones
Tseric was the best. He goes hand-in-hand with my nostalgia for early WoW.
Christian Fisher
It's 2016 and you're on Cred Forums. As soon they see someone fucking up they immediately blame that entire demographic whether it be a female, a jew, a black, a liberal, and so on and so forth. It's really just confirmation bias for whatever warped perception they've picked up from the internet.
Camden Morris
I don't see anything wrong with female writers. it's popular to bash J.K. Rowling and her stories, but it can't be denied that she inspired an entire generation to read in a digital age. That's pretty impressive.
Lucas Reed
Is there any reason for me to not just play Sims 3 with all expansions? Art style is all I can think of but there are custom mods anyways.
Isaac Adams
well playing sims 3 with all expansions means your neighbourhood will take 30 minutes to load
Caleb Lopez
Art
Oliver Scott
>Hermione was black and Dumbledore was gay
Landon Peterson
>First Sims 3 expansion was fucking World Adentures >Sims 4 doesn't have trash compactors two years after release
Kayden Hill
Will they ever find a balance between the two? I'm sure EA won't let Maxis do it and I wonder how much copyright is keeping indies from trying their hands at it
Jack Cooper
>Hermione was black delet this
She wasn't. I hate how people try to turn her into something she wasn't. You want a brilliant young girl with balls of steel who happens to be black? Write your own >Dumbledore was gay That was heavily implied in the book though
Julian Thomas
She never said Hermione was black. she just said that her race wasn't really a big deal.
Juan Allen
LEAVE WOMEN ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tyler Gray
The issue with other, smaller companies trying to compete with The Sims is that The Sims innately requires such a huge variety of assets that I doubt a considerably smaller company could deliver a decent analogue. It's a sandbox game with no goals other than mucking about, and the fun comes from the complexity of the interactions (which requires a shitload of animations or else it gets boring fast) and the amount of customization it offers (which requires a shitload of models and textures).
Most good games developed by small teams succeed by polishing a few assets and focusing on gameplay design rather than scope, but the actual gameplay systems of The Sims are really fucking simple, mainly because making them more complex would make the games less of a sandbox. You gain skills by doing related tasks and gain relationship points by interacting with other sims, and that's really the complete extent of it. The games wouldn't be any fun if they weren't crammed full of content, at least not for very long.
Kayden Reed
I feel like redownloading the game but that shit is just unbearable. What would you say are the essentials I should definitely use?
Dominic Cooper
That's always been the case.
Carson Lee
What's the deal with The Sims 4 needing a 1GB patch every weak or so? What the fuck are they changing
Nathaniel Bell
>The issue with other, smaller companies trying to compete with The Sims is that The Sims innately requires such a huge variety of assets that I doubt a considerably smaller company could deliver a decent analogue.
A small team with experience in photogrammetry could do it, just 3d scan a million objects
Easton Scott
>game has option for male/female and can/can't impregnate Fuck actual game improvements, loving this progressiveness!
Jack Moore
That'll do for customization assuming you have somebody with the necessary equipment and skills, but what about animations?
Dylan Mitchell
People shouldn't make a big deal out of this, this is very Sims-y. They were always "progressive", but in the pragmatic, cartoony way. "Might as well make this option gender unrelated". For example sims could always be gay, but it wasn't called that, just that love interactions were not exclusive to gender.
Sebastian Lopez
So like, a female can impregnate?
Michael Gomez
I'm a big fan of The Sims, and 4 was complete and utter shit.
Luis Harris
Legitimate question: can you 3D scan a house and large pieces of furniture? Because the house customization is a huge part of the sims, it was even originally going to be the entire focus of the first game.
Jackson Turner
Yes.
Carter Walker
I like that this shitpost never gained traction on Cred Forums because people were too excited about making traps and futas.
Luke Gray
So which is the best Sims game?
Thomas Gutierrez
>Worked on QA for this game >knew it was going to be a clusterfuck while still in alpha >mfw my name will forever be in the credits
Brandon Cruz
maybe, but wouldn't that kind of equipment be expensive for a small dev?
Bentley Gutierrez
3 if you can find and assemble the magical computer components hidden on the fourth moon of jupiter that make it run flawlessly
Bentley Parker
>women
Jacob Watson
1 has the best soundtrack 2 has the best roster of expansions and core gameplay 3 is the best sandbox experience and has the best porn mods 4 has the best artstyle and character customization
Xavier Brooks
Fun fact: everybody loves dicks. If not somebody else's then their own.
Aaron Reyes
I've seen 3d scans of entire neighborhoods
Jayden King
There have been mods for this kind of shit since literally Sims 1 though
Carter Fisher
>photogrammetry are you from euclideon or something? no game is truly photorealistic, you need a skilled artist to wrangle it all together and you cant do it for people which is what the sims is all about
Michael Adams
2 overall, 3 is a close second.
One thing I loved about 2 that they got rid of in 3 were the constant job opportunities/choices, it made it more entertaining while you waited for your sim to come home from work.
James Scott
>4 has the best artstyle >4 has the best customization
Julian Miller
As a fan of Sims 1 and 2, the current state of the franchise disgusts me. So much potential just wasted.
James Davis
What's your name user? And you worked on the Sims? Can you provide some details? Thanks.
Eli Harris
I can see arguments for 4 having the best customization, at least for the sims themselves.
Logan Lee
So you're saying women are shit at their jobs then?
Joshua Perry
Fucking this. I love Sims 3 but if you install more than one expansion it shits itself and starts piling up errors after an hour or two. Ever the mods made to fix it are a small band-aid for what is in programming terms a massive gaping wound.
Anthony Moore
Character customization, yeah, at least relating to sim bodies. Sims 2 and 3 give you a few sliders for weight, muscles, and skin color but otherwise all the customization was limited to the face. 4 is the only one that actually lets you make unique bodies. It is missing the clothing customization from 3, though.
Cameron Wood
>you cant do it for people which is what the sims is all about To me the sims is about house building and furnishing. I think photogrammetry would be amazing for that. And don't lump that euclidean scam with photogrammetry which has proven itself in Battlefront and Vanishing of Ethan Carter.
Eli White
just don't install all of the expansions or any of the stuff packs and use mods like overwatch and error trap to keep things running smoothly. The game honestly doesn't crash often and the only issues are loading times and island paradise.
Connor Rodriguez
Based LGR
He gave Duke Nukem Forever a favorable "review" though,
Lucas Price
It ran a lot better for me when I installed it on my SSD
Adam Smith
QA is when you hire a bunch of monkeys to playtest the game, he didn't work on shit
Ayden Edwards
The man is obsessed with Duke Nukem on a borderline sexual level. You don't have to agree with somebody on every point to respect their opinion.
Jack Flores
I wish people would make more games like the Sims even if it was just a smaller chunk of the whole experience. The console/gba games were really good even though you had preset houses and stuff.
Deadly Sins was pretty terrible in some ways but it had like Sims style dialogue/groups done better earlier. Every object in the world has unique interactions depending on who you're with in order to steer conversations one way or another to help get into peoples pants or gain reputation. The reputation system was pretty neat because if you made an effort to become good friends with someone's friend or a relative you'd naturally start more friendly with the other person because they've been hearing good things about you through the grapevine.
Kayden Moore
yeah photogrammetry is good but it doesnt take away all the work of an artist like the euclideon scam pretends it does
Jose King
How about when you installed every expansion and stuff pack?
Noah Stewart
The building system isn't bad.
But the character customization is terrible. Not much to choose from and horrible art style that makes everyone look like a Downy.
Jace Cox
Youre right. I dont care what happens at game corporation executive level.
Nathaniel Sanders
Cred Forums has been invading other boards for the last few days, don"t bother trying to reason with those faggots.
Elijah Hall
>every male sim I try to make ends up looking like the guy I fell in love with 3 years ago to the last detail
Why is this allowed?
Lucas Parker
To be fair the vast majority of the stuff packs aren't worth installing. I mean who the fuck used Diesel Stuff?
Aiden King
Sims 4 is just an inferior Sims 3.
Luis Nelson
sims is a massive piece of shit. i dont know how a game could have such a simple and fun formula from sims 1 and 2 to the absolute garbage that it has become now.
Josiah Taylor
>horrible art style that makes everyone look like a Downy. Sounds to me like you're talking about 3.
Carson Walker
Maxis is still alive? I thought they died when Spore bombed.
Levi Clark
I might care if the Sims didn't turn to complete shit.
Christian Jackson
How much did Sims 3 cost again with ALL THE DLC?
Luis Cook
drawing shit
Parker Reyes
>pets are still not baseline THEY'RE ADORABLE AND TRAINING PETS IS FUN AND EVERYONE LOVES PETS ADD THEM ALREADY YOU FUCKING JEWS
Isaiah Myers
one gorillion dollaridoos
Henry Green
Back then my PC was so, SO bad that to play The Sims I had to click on the "Create your family" or whatever button in less than a second when the game loaded up for the first time, otherwise the it'd freeze and I'd have to hard-reset my PC. Feels nostalgic.
Jose Mitchell
Yeah it still ran fine on my SSD after installing everything. The only problems I had I fixed with NRAAS mods.
Caleb Clark
A.B. I'm not going back to ea, so I've got nothing to lose. The qa team was strangely divided. The team had a HUGE turnover rate for random reasons (one dude for having mass effect furry porn on the hard drives, another for being a general fuckass, etc.) EABR generally hires anyone, so many of the people there knew fuckall about video games, period. We worked with the in-house qa team, and essentially did whatever they told us to do. I was in charge of gameplay and pretty much provided support for that pod. The funny thing about ea is that they are lazy as fuck. They refuse to change anything from a gameplay perspective and even outright ignore issues that aren't noticeably broken. Alot of shit got rushed around the time PAX came around and some stuff got removed and a new build was even made that outright lied about the state of the game. The game was rushed as fuck and alot of shit was removed for dlc. It was a nightmare. Me and like half the team would get high during breaks just to make it through. There was also drama. Like the big titted "gamerslut" that fucked half the leads and the pussywhipped faggot that was a mess when his gf who was also on the team dumped him.
Isaac Bell
Good point. I always got the impression it was more the expansions that fucked things up anyway. I always had a lot of trouble with University Life.
Joseph Long
I just put in an application for a few software engineer positions at their Redwood City location.
Austin Green
Not all bad managers are women but all women have consistency made for bad managers. Yahoo got their first female CEO and she is running it into the fucking ground.
Logan Hill
Nope, definitely 4. Everything looked far worse in that one.
Dominic Gonzalez
>EABR >BR HEUAEHUAEHAUEHAUEAHUAE
Luke Young
Thank god. Hopefully this starts something, maybe devs will start listening to their dedicated fanbases and customers. Maybe they'll stop making shitty games.
Dylan Gutierrez
Holy shit dude, do you remember Shari? I fucking hated that cunt.
Joseph Wood
you fell in love with crit1kal?
Jose Taylor
>that guy >attractive pick one
Parker Adams
>She never said Hermione was black. she said it was never mentioned that she was white (even though it was mentioned several times)
Ethan Harris
No fucking way this is Anthony, right?
Nolan Butler
I'm kind of baffled that no other company has tried to make their own Sim's clone in recent times since Sims 4 is trash and it could do well if done right.
Brandon Miller
Cr1tikal showed his face? I stopped watching him years ago but I'm still curious and surprised.
Luke Reed
Autism
Dylan Adams
Nah. I was on night team, so Shari and the other 2 were usually gone by the team we got a build started. Greer and Broster were cool as fuck, though.
If Redwood is anything like Baton Rouge, the it'll be easy to get into.
Jonathan Peterson
Same reason that none of the other clones got popular enough in the first place: brand recognition was already there for the sims, and the sims did so many things that it was very difficult to make your game stand out from the sims.
And they were all shit games I guess but that's beside's the point. Even if there was magically a good sims clone it would still be labeled as a sim's clone. Though I guess now would be a good time to break out of that
Justin Sanders
Oh fuck. Got me.
Juan Myers
Yeah dude he's actually pretty handsome.
William Jones
Haha, let's just say you being here explains quite a few things.
Jonathan Jones
No, a really handsome Ukrainian guy who used to be my roommate.
Pic doesn't really do him justice. IRL he was top qt. Also the kindest person I've ever met.
Ethan Brown
I wasn't THAT much of an asshole.
Justin Wood
Maxis was shut down last year, after the huge shitshow SC2013 was. EA is not interested in their brands (beyond mobile shit at least) and the whole thing has been collapsing for a while now. This is just the final end.
As for "community managers", it's been shit since day one which is why so many SC fansites exist (and keep reappearing, thanks IRC).
Chase Martinez
No, that was EA. SC2013 is so broken I doubt it started as a flagship title and not a spinoff. It's issues cannot be traced back to a single community manager.
She's still a bitch though, but who the fuck would use EA's forums in the first place?
Blake Phillips
I wonder if there are any higher ups who know that men do better jobs and would make them a profit, and curse the government for forcing them to hire women to meet quotas. Women can like the sims, and play the sims, and suggest sims content they would like, but they shouldn't be a part of the team that produces the sims.
Benjamin Bailey
> The community manager should always be a fat dude Yeah, no
Anthony Cruz
Who cares? The Sims fanbase is mostly autistic middle-age+ women.
Parker Long
Sanya Weathers was a fucking excellent community manager that set a lot of standards and examples and was plenty tough though.
William Ward
Too fat
Luis Morgan
3 would be my perfect video game, but the game is so poorly made that your save WILL become too big and won't be able to save any more. There is nothing to fix this and no way to prevent it. To make the most out of a save, I play as one household, never go to the future, never go on world adventures or other vacations.
Jaxson Johnson
Nigga just play Sims 4 with the MC Command Center mod. You lose the open world that fucks up loading times and performance but the mod allows progression for all sims. That's a fair balance.
Daniel Walker
Am I the only one who likes the fours artstyle over three? Yeah, the expressions are way too over the top, but the game looks nice and kinda comfy. Shame that the game is bland and casualized but I lost my sims 3 folder and cant be assed to build it again.
Post characters
Anthony Ortiz
shame that the worlds in sims 4 are SO FREAKING TINY. YOU CANT EVEN BUILD ONE FUCKING MANSION BECAUSE THERE ARE NO EMPTY LOTS, FUCK!
Elijah Jackson
poor Will Wright
Andrew Torres
They know, but they also don't care.
Here's the real redpill: EA doesn't care about console games anymore. The real money is on mobile, *especially* if they can make games into virtual gambling (and not actual games). They only have three AAA console franchises they care about (Madden, Fifa, Battlefield) as those make the most money and can be remade every year or have microtransactions.
It's why they let SC2013 be as shit as it is. There is no way they couldn't have known how it would launch. That's why they had everyone review it at their office, and not with review copies. Ultimately they don't give a fuck about Maxis so they will let them go belly up. Then they can offload their brands to mobile subcontractors who will print EA money.
EA destroys everything it touches.
Brayden Ortiz
Damn, I wanna hit that.
David Collins
This.
Also natural brown hair on a black woman? Kinda doesn't work that way.
Henry Cooper
It's already been proven that doesn't matter after Cities: Skyline
Landon Mitchell
>console games anymore
*traditional games anymore
For context, look at what Konami is doing. They're going right into mobile and Patchinko which ties into their gambling business. EA wants to do that.
Ethan Diaz
It won't. EA gets hold of a popular brand, make increasingly worse sequels until it's no longer profitable, and then they dump the brand and buy something new. They're in it for the money. They buy stuff people like and try to maximize profits - they add DLC and spend less money/time on the sequels and if they still sell well enough, they go even further with the next game.
Look at Sim City. At Dead Space. Dragon Age. Mass Effect.Command & Conquer. Need for Speed. Dungeon Keeper. Medal of Honor. And of course The Sims.
Remember all the shitty PR they've done. The "oh, sure, the anti-gays hate our game, but it's just them!" bullshit, and stuff like that? They're shameless. They aren't interested in keeping series alive or providing interesting gameplay to people or telling stories. It's about squeezing those brands until they're dry and then throw them out.
Michael Brown
The woman in the image isn't a community manager, she is the general manager of the teams for The Sims and Sim City 2013
Henry Stewart
The original Sims team had plenty of women who were good at their jobs, so this has nothing to do with it at all.
It has to do with people being shit at their jobs and not listening to what their fan base really wants.
Adrian Jenkins
>add traps to TS4 >no bulge One
Job
Asher Myers
Why the fuck must the modding community be so fucking fractured? Mod the sims has SHIT search system and then there is the lewder versino and then there are shitloads of other sites and blogs with mods. Good luck trying to find something you like. Other problem is that the mods are named like ass so you have to do extra work to keep your mods folder organized
Oliver Davis
I think the important thing to note here is that this applies to specific niche genres of games.
City builder fans WILL be aware of a big high profile city builder being in development/coming out no matter the brand recognition. Same is true of 4X space games, Grand Strategy, shit like that. People who like and follow these kinds of games will always be on top of that, with no existing IP needed. Pillars of Eternity was on the radar of everyone who liked traditional WRPGs based on the premise and the developers involved.
Brand recognition is a big deal if you make FPS and have to go up against CoD or Halo, but for these kinds of games it really isn't.
Thomas Russell
what
Don't you know that you can bulldoze occupied lots?
Juan Taylor
I agree. The look of the sims was the one thing S4 had over S3 - well, that being more stable when playing.
S3 sims looked worse than S2 and S4. Sims need to look a bit cartoony.
Luis Long
mods will fix it if you donate to their patreon :)
Ethan James
sure I know that, but it does not change the fact that there is so little available space
Wyatt King
If you go to the link in the OP, you will find this
But no actually it's just because the people in charge are women
Asher Adams
They didn't add "traps".
They have simply made the male and female model indenpendant of whatever gender is chosen.
Andrew Hall
I still stand by my point. The blame can't rest solely on her, because I strongly expect that she (and her teams) expected to make SC2013 into a flagship game. I think EA told her, when she was hired into the position, that she would be making spinoffs like Ubz, MySims, Simcity Buildit and Simcity Societies. Then they told her to do SC V and obviously she couldn't deliver.
Look, the problems with SC2013 are so massive, so glaring, so fucking BASIC (no servers for three fucking months and no reliable servers for six!) that there is no way she could have pulled it off by herself. This is especially true given the mess the DRM/always online shit was.
Thomas Hernandez
Just gonna say it once again, but The Sims was the root of the modern casual and what we can blame everything wrong with modern gaming. The series brought people who don't play video games in to video games and changed the target audience.
William Cruz
Will Wright wasn't part of 4
Austin Morales
>no option to use feminine animations for male characters
This is the biggest issue. You can use the feminine walk style but for everything else they still use male animations.
David Baker
Which sim series lets me mod females to have giant futas?
Blake Miller
no.. sims 4 is ultimate comfy because graphics are in fact a very important factor (at least for me) in a homey life sim
Isaiah Anderson
Probly 3. It has the widest array of sexmods. Sims 4 sexmods have only just started so the framework is not even finished yet.
Charles Scott
Yeah but you can have bare-chested little ladyboys with svelte bodies and that's what matters
Zachary James
It might have helped. I personally think that the Xbox had a much bigger impact.
Henry Peterson
>reading comprehension
Isaiah Bailey
Xbox nurtured the casual gamer, it did not attract people who otherwise would have no business playing video games.
Hunter Gray
I have played every sims and can tell you you're wrong. The only thing it's done is introduce a shit load of females into gaming. Since according to some random polls like 70% of the people who play Sims are females. Beyond that I just hope you're baiting.
Isaac James
>Maxis is dead
Julian Ross
Got a painted version?
Jacob Morris
soon(tm)
Nathaniel Harris
I think it did. MS has always been good at marketing and pushing their products. Here's this new console and it's easy to plug in and play and you get to play Halo online with other players right away. It was the start for a shitload of gamers who hadn't touched any 5. generation console and who for one reason or another didn't use a PC.
Jeremiah Taylor
I knew the sims 4 was going to be shit the moment they announced they wouldn't keep the neighborhood integration for sims 3,
Elijah Rivera
We got Simcity 3000u and SC4 out of it. That's more than what most people get.
Blake Nguyen
Remember remember the 5th of December The patch day of treasonous plots I see no reason for MS or cleavin As tseric wants wars to spec prot
Jaxson Bennett
But how will I find it? Is there no product page with a painted one?
Grayson James
Either you wne to odeep searching for their QA location and one of the actual QA names in credits to make thsi shit post, or you are actually A.B, who I looked up and really exist.
Anything else you could tell us?
Mason Smith
I'm not saying every person who played the sims is one of them, I'm just saying you can trace everything back to it.
Nathan Hill
Like what? Ask me anything. Keep in mind that I can only really answer from a qa perspective.
Levi Johnson
Are you people fucking retards?
Can you give me an example of a good game that existed before casuals that doesn't exist now in a better form?
Nathaniel Watson
How was the pay and benefits?
Chase Martin
If it wasn't for The Sims I never would have got into video games and programming (because I made my own mods for it), and I am also a female.
The majority of women I know got into gaming through The Sims, as well.
Michael Nelson
>even though it was mentioned several times
Someone having a "white face" when seeing a monster doesn't mean they're Caucasian you dumb fuck. Going white in the face is about losing blood pressure, BEING SCARED. What context did your stupid ass even insert into that line to make it appear to mention race out of no where
>Hermoine saw the brutish creature in front of her, by the way she's caucasian, she tried to scream...
Jaxson Mitchell
>lazy as fuck. >They refuse to change anything from a gameplay perspective and even outright ignore issues that aren't noticeably broken
I wish it was laziness but it often isn't. Sorry.
Landon Rivera
What was the biggest/most interesting bug/glitch/fuck up you discovered? Was it fixed?
Thomas Foster
>before casuals I said the modern casual, the mobile/facebook player, the kind of person that doesn't play video games
Nolan Cook
RS is looking for SEs all over.
They simply pay worse than other companies in the area.
Can still be good, especially if you avoid the temptation to be lazy and bad at your job.
Caleb Morales
>caring about Maxis post Wright Why?
Kayden Clark
>claiming a PC game was the root of modern casual gaming
Most people barely even had a computer when the game came out. The root of modern casual gaming was Nintendo.
Zachary Myers
Sorry, but nintendo just saw the trend and jumped onto a market that was mostly untapped. They didn't start it, they were always that way.
Gavin James
> Where do I find these "porn mods"
Juan Ramirez
The Sims was not the first game series to do things like DLC and expansion packs, and it wasn't the first game to market to a mass "casual" audience either.
Gabriel Ward
The sims is failing because it forgot what it's fucking audience was.
The reason the sims 1 and 2 were so successful was because it was accessible to everyone. The games could just run on a home desktop. So people who normally wouldn't care about video games could just buy it at the store, pop it in their PC and play it without really have to care about specs.
Now that the concept of a home desktop is basically extinct, the sims is stuck in this weird position where they want to up the visual quality but are still clinging on to conventions that only people who actually play video games on their PC would even bother with..
The sims 4 can run on a ton of systems really damn well but it's not gonna run on your average 450 dollar laptop from 3 years ago, which is what it should be targeting.
Why would anyone who doesn't play video games on their PC bother with origin, having a different account or anything, when they can just play mobile games for much less effort?
The sims has to retain it's core "all you need is a PC and everyone can set it up and play" mentality the first two had
Jace Garcia
It's nice if you have no responsibilities. 9.50/hr, 1.5x overtime which is easy as fuck to get, and dental.
Then what was up with all of the (invalid: Feature being removed for dlc) bugs?
Jeremiah Lee
god fuck this fucking board >kek women suck at everything >muh casuals ruining everything
Parker Clark
>Sims 4 >Live in a city >Here's 10 plots of habitable land >3 of which is already taken by npcs >It's no longer open world >have to wait for loading screens every time i want to do anything
Sebastian White
The Sims is failing because you can't play the whole game without buying 75 different 40 dollar "expansions" no one is ever going to pay for in a million years
Andrew Taylor
I'm sure there were bigger ones, but being able to woohoo with kids was a funny one that got fixed
Adam Thompson
prove those two statements wrong
Oliver Price
On the world wide web.
Nathaniel Wright
The entire Neptunia series was made and is still being made by a woman. Most of the people working at CH are women.
James Cook
BUS SHOCK
Kayden Adams
>Sims3 >head down to the bookstore, meet up with people having a bbq in the empty lot nearby >study at the library with other people >work out at the gym with other people >scavenge at the junkyard for free furniture
>sims4 >I don't want to do anything >become a multimillionaire from my couch >living the dream, I guess
Henry Garcia
Can't you just kick the npcs out?
Camden Campbell
>slightly better character customization? Slightly better performance too, still stick to 3
Jason Wilson
You can kick out NPCs and delete them or move them to another lot in another world. You can bulldoze any building whether it's residential or otherwise and clear out any lot. It's a non-issue and I don't know why he even bothered to mention it.
Dominic Davis
Female devs have contributed to plenty of great games, the key is to hire women that actually know their shit and want to make a good product instead of whiny cunts that don't know anything and want easy HR jobs.
Ayden Watson
you're thinking of Myst, but really PC gaming itself has been left unmolested
Camden Bennett
I dunno, I think he's got a good idea. It wouldn't be photorealistic, but just humorous in how so many objects are photos.
The rest can be relatively simple assets instead
Hudson Bennett
Good lord dis bitch
Andrew Young
What "trend"? Console videogames were fucking dead after the 2600. Atari had fucked up so hard that people were not going to commit hundreds of dollars on a new system, especially if it was not reverse-compatible with older games (Nintendo only got away with this because their games were good). Nintendo has to re-sell an entire generation on "television video games", and only did so because the NES debuted with both Super Mario Brothers, the Legend of Zelda and Metriod and kept a high QC bar for all their games.
And, let's get real, EA and Konami are both playing the mobile game now after Zynga proved it's profitable.
Adam Jenkins
Graphics isn't what nuked the Sims 3's preformance, the custom textures did. EA clearly could never figure out a real solution to this.
Exactly this.
Joseph Price
>In March 2016 Fortune would name Mayer as one of the world's most disappointing leaders >It was further estimated that Yahoo's core business has been worth less than zero dollars for the past few quarters
Guess the only thing that works for EA is marketing and nothing else. It's really sad how the industry turned
Logan Lee
>open world I was disappointed that active sims didn't really leave their lots in 3 outside of work and school and often would automatically try to go home when you did bother to go outside. Also neighbors and friends never seem to stop by on their own volition. At best you'd get paparazzi if you were a celebrity.
You could try to ameliorate things with the NPC roommate system, but otherwise it gets a bit lonely and the game turns into a skill grind instead of a look at what goofy things are happening experience.
Evan Brown
>Will Wright will never come out of retirement to make a new game on his own without EA fucking it up
Aiden Mitchell
>only tiny neighborhoods with their shitty ass Facebook map interface >can't create custom neighborhoods or just add more of them
Nolan Ramirez
>he sees women as equals Jesus Christ, this is where humanity has ended up. They should honestly be treated as children. They are the reason everything is so PC now days and it's fucking bullshit. Aren't you worried about where humanity is going to end up? We're spiraling out of control and you're sitting here defending the people causing it. Men who enable Women are just as bad.
Jeremiah Harris
yes how can you be so stupid to post this
shoot yourself
Chase Rodriguez
>Sims 4's CC is more detailed they said >it's better than 2's they said >it's fucking simplified to shit, there's no slider interface and a lot less modifiers
They can't even outdo Sims 2's body creator for fuck's sake. You could fucking view your Sim from any angle in that and in 4 (and 3) you can only view them horizontally. Clearly they didn't fucking mean shit when they said they wanted the Sims 2 audience again.
