Huge open world that you can unlock by leveling abilities. Can explore high mountain peaks and floating islands if you get flight, can swim through the ocean floor if you level up swim and water breath, can get into underground ruins in the desert if you get excavate, etc.

Lots of towns and cities scattered across the world. They will attack you on sight, but you can get a skill to turn into different humanoid forms to enter settlements of different races (you can be human to enter human settlements, or dwarf settlements with a penalty to relations, or just get attacked all the same by orcs, for example). Can also do quests so eventually you'll be accepted and maybe even admired in your normal dragon form by whatever settlement you do them for. Defend them from bandits, escort caravans, help them with wars, etc. First you would need to do it a bit in humanoid form to gaint their trust and avoid them attacking you instantly, then once you've got a reputation you could turn in front of people that trust you. Or, you can just fuck their shit up, take their gold, assault their caravans on the way and just land in the middle of town, eat the major and steal their gold and cattle.

Have a few sidequest lines about evil mages, conquerors, etc. wrecking shit that you can either defeat to stop them or to force them into servitude, and a few about knights and heroes coming to stop you depending on your overall reputation with each race. Then some big overarching plot related to other dragons that you could choose to ignore if you want with some sort of consequence.

As that guy before said, basically Mount and Blade as a dragon, but with some more elaborate quests.

I've heard many developers state how you cant make a non-human creature a main character because it gives the audience a disconnect that they cant comprehend.
But to me, that sounds like writers being lazy assholes.
You could make a character look anyway you want and people can project themselves onto it.
All you really have to do is make their back story or the way they act somewhat human or with some degree of intelligence and you'll be fine.
Honestly I'd love to see a story from a reptilians tribe perspective in a fantasy world and how their customs affect the world around them, say they can only make a specific toe of material that is valuable to the worlds economy and reach a balance with the more advanced societies.

Maybe one day you'll get to play something where you can force the entire world under your wings, user.

I do think that writing believable (and most importantly, respectable) non-humanoid characters is a challenge for a lot of writers.

It seems as though there is this fine line to tread when writing non-human characters: if they are too human then it feels as though they are just humans in fantasy costume (aka tasteless furry pandering). If they are too alien then they run the risk of feeling removed from what your audience can relate to and understand. Most of the time developers will opt to err on the side of caution, which can have the unfortunate side-effect of stifling creativity (which is why we keep getting humans in cosplay as alternative races).

I find that the best portrayal of non-human races in media owe some of their success to the fact that they aren't the main focus of the narrative. They are able to benefit from the outsider's perspective that they are given, which helps to highlight their differences from humans and even allow some of that mystery to work in their favor.

In your story and your world, you can make these things work and you are more then capable of making something brand new whilst also being familiar enough for someone to personify themselves onto.

Open world action RPG , with multiplayer elements. Start out as a baby dragon, you choose a few basic starting traits but other than that you are small and weak. As you consume certain things and fight use certain attacks/moves you will evolve differently. For example if you were to eat lots of turtles you would gain tougher scales that would turn greenish, very tough, but you'd have slower ground speed. Use your claws a lot and they get sharper, and you could even eat snakes and shit a lot for venomous teeth and claws, maybe even earn a poison breath if you consume certain rare snakes, of course only so many traits could be retained at once so you'd have to discard some eventually after a while. Thered be a bit more to that whole system but you get the idea
