This is the weirdest game I ever played, can we talk about it?
> Amazing satisfying combat > Shit, 30fps lock > At first the game seems pretty straight forward adaption of the movies > Suddenly you are thrown into this kung-fu over the top stage, complete with 4th wall breaks and 70s porn music during fights > You are thrown into a grey-scale anime-tier stage where people even speak Japanese
> The main selling point of the game getting a new ending in the end is the funniest middle finger to anyone to anything.
Seriously, why don't people talk more about this? I don't even know what to say.
I played the first one and it was kinda shit; I only finished it with cheats. It was a really cool idea and the movies were predestined for such a thing, but the execution was rather lackluster. Hence, I wasn't interested in any follow-up anymore.
William Anderson
I'll be honest it's just hands down the best matrix game right now. I remember a lot of variety in combat and it being pretty good visually too. the "weird" levels are supposed to be just filler inbetween when Neo's learning kung-fu. The japanese stage i know is a complete reference to one of the animatrix episodes with the anime swordfighting. Cool shit.
Bentley Ross
It is pretty cool shit, there will never be better Matrix game, it truly makes you feel like Neo, I doubt today any one would want to make a Marix game, which is a shame.
Path of Neo is better in every single way, it is still weird in some areas, but it's better game in every single way and avaible on pretty much anything, give it a shot. Why does PC version suck so much? The visuals are worse too when compared to PS2.
Ian Johnson
Press Δ to attack, press Δ to block. Press R1 to give a super powerful kick that doesn't harm the enemy at all. Auto-aim. That infamous level where you are in another dimension with dozens of upside down doors and shit, god I hated that crap.
Still I loved the game back in the day, just imagine a new Matrix game released nowadays with proper combat, no auto-aim shit and better destruction. Nah it would be ruined with some open world shit and tacked on online.
Charles Thomas
matrix online was a god tier game.
My fondest memory of any video game is still the final day, when everyone got access to the GM event panel, and could summon thunderstorms and truly bend the matrix.
Aiden Gutierrez
I just remember the melee combat being satisfying as fuck, but I might be blowing it up in my mind
>boss level with smith in the subway >have to kill him but getting him on the train tracks when the train comes by >do that 20 punch combo that sends him flying >collides with the train mid air
A matrix game today could be done really well I think
Michael Powell
Fuck I never got to play Matrix Online, my regrets, I remember seeing trailers.
Wyatt Jackson
The combat is still really satisfying, The animations aren't good at al by today's standarts, but I tried out Path of Neo just a day ago and it still feels great.
Fuck though, it's locked to 30fps, I've gotten so used to 60fps it is hard to get back to it. Visuals are also outdated. The animations on combat still looks great, especially the combo moves.
Cooper Torres
One of my first PS2 games. It's also the ONLY good movie-liscenced game that I ever really enjoyed.
Amazing combat, fun levels, and a lot fo WTF moments.
Absolutely loved it
Charles Turner
This is the way you should do movie-licensed game. They were original with it, it's clear these guys were passionate, it's alongside Scarface as one of the best game movie games.
Kevin Foster
> Developers today would never include funny early game glitches as extra footage to unlock.
>I've gotten so used to 60fps Fucking pleb tier fps
Gavin Watson
Oh yes, I can't think anything that has such satisfying mass combat.
More sophisticated combat with group of enemies? Sure. We got things like Dragon's Dogma.
But better mass game? Where you can grab two Smiths, and beat a third one to death with them? Nothing.
Adam Gonzalez
the big issue it had was they were so ultra-focused on telling a story that once you finished the story content there was nothing to do but PVP. I mean absolutely nothing. So everyone was hooked on playing but there just wasn't enough to do.
Then, the story ended and it just started dying, everyone slowly stopping, support dying off, and then they announced it was shutting down. So many people came abck and we'd all fuck around in PVP, and then the last day, GMs showed up and gave everyone who was cap level the "matrix control panel" which was basically all the GM shit minus banning/muting/that kind of stuff.
Everyone started flying around, shooting lightning at each other, noclipping through shit, god damn it was great.
Julian Sanders
>First level >No tutorial >Game starts to throw increasingly difficult opponents at you >Depending on how far you get you can choose difficulty level >Wanna play on harder level? Sure pal, let's do this again. You can discover the controls some more while you are at it
I loved it.
Colton Stewart
The game pretty much started with DMC's bloody palace.
Gavin Turner
Because those glitches never get removed these days and youtubers make bank on them.
Anthony Parker
> You CAN take a blue pill when the game starts.
Lucas Ward
>That level with the witch >Game doesn't hammer you in which girl is real >Only you can figure out on your own that Matrix-vision can separate the fakes
Also it was one of the levels where you could truly feel like a god.
Can I ask what the fuck happened here? I love the game, but shit.
Ryder Morris
I knew about the graphical differences as well. I wish there was a mod that restored it to proper looks. Idk there might be. Too lazy to look
Zachary Wright
This game was GOAT.
>All those Agent Smith levels where he was the only enemy, but there were hundreds of him >Those white suits that ran along the walls and ceilings >That first level where you just fight until you can't fight anymore >That shoot out after the metal detector >The Wachowski brothers appearing to announce the final boss
Matthew Hernandez
Absolutely loved it but that is literally all I remember. It was just too long ago.
Dylan Murphy
bum it up
Logan Mitchell
Do you fight roaches in this game
Samuel Richardson
I think they are ants. They can only be killed with fire. Fun stuff.
Isaac Murphy
Friendly reminder that all of it is also considered canon.
David Sanchez
I liked the ant level because it was soooo random XD just like me! Also that forced lock on with the guns, and the retarded gunplay and physics. I was amaze.
Kevin Sullivan
>brothers Triggered
Juan Walker
Much better than Enter the Matrix
Like holy fucking shit I don't know why some fucks on Cred Forums actually considered that mess an enjoyable experience, let alone good game. Its only redeeming quality was the 'hacking' mini game.
Jonathan Lopez
>that one move where you walk up someone's torso and kick them in the chin
Jason Morris
This thread has convinced me to play it. Emulate or PC version?
Luke Sanchez
If you can emulate, emulate it, the PC port is terrible and has worse visuals due to lazy porting.
Angel Myers
Fuckoff.
Daniel Johnson
It was so fucking satisfying, I don't get why people don't like this
Isaiah Rivera
Fun fact: not many people know that Matrix Online was canon and in that game Morpheus dies.
Nathan Barnes
>Morpheus dies In the Matrix, or real world?
Xavier Cruz
You die in the game you die for real.
Isaac Cook
You forgot about the topsy turvy world where you fought Ant men.
Hunter Bailey
>tfw playing that hacking mini game thing where you read the passages and type keywords to keep going deeper and deeper
Felt so satisfying
Austin Thompson
What was up with that anyway? It's been a while so l don't remember all the details, but thatbwas at the Merovingian, right? The other Matrix game had vampires and werewolves at his place too. Why?
Jayden White
Better to be a pleb than an autist, don't worry
Joseph Jackson
Merovingian's henchman were leftover programs of old Matrix version.
So I guess in a previous version of the Matrix there were Ghosts, Werewolves, Vampires, Witches and...Ant Men
Jack Robinson
>tfw i want to rewatch the trilogy but can't bear going through revolutions again
Ayden Carter
I remember this fucking game. I got fucking lost in the maze part when your in a different dimension sort of. Had no idea where to go went around for hours then I never picked it up again.
Nicholas Nguyen
Try one of the fanedits. New experience and I remember there was one that removed all of the Zion scenes.
Robert Thomas
Is this the one where you fight on the rooftops with the helis and shit? I stuck there when I was 14 and never touched he game ever again.
Juan Cox
afaik, the matrix games were some of the best movie-to-games ever made, other than obvious shit like Goldeneye and LOTR: BFME, Riddick.
Logan Evans
>007 nice
But yeah, Riddick was very, very god damn good. It's a shame there isn't anymore Riddick games.
