I thought this was agreed upon a long time ago. Half-Life 2, while a good game in its own right, did not build upon what made Half-Life a compelling game. The bulk of it had to do with setting (going from claustrophobic indoor areas to an open-yet-linear dystopian cityscape), but also that they tried to recapture what made HL great without understanding their own formula.

it's a mod for hl2 that adds like 30 new weapons or so and a bunch of new enemies.
It just makes the game better. There's lots of variations of it too. It's moddable in a way similar to the way GMOD is moddable.
