what's the point in gambling if I can't exchange my tokens for money?
I'm guessing tokens don't carry over to other casinos too?

>what's the point in gambling if I can't exchange my tokens for money?
To get good gear early or unique gear that can only be found in the casino.

>I'm guessing tokens don't carry over to other casinos too?
They do.

I just maxed out Jawtoise on Ruff, I'm gonna make him a Monster Masher again for now since I've got the Malign Shrine to tear through next, but what other Monster Hearts give something good (besides Healslime)? I was gonna give Berserker a shot maybe.

>if I can't exchange my tokens for money?
You can buy shit with your tokens and sell it. Usually Prayer Rings are the best Tokens -> Gold conversion

>memories of an old friend
>Kiefer literally runs off the second you disappear in the teleporter to go ask Lulu to marry him in front of everyone
Wow, doing his duty my ass, Kiefer is kind of a huge faggot

>bone baron
>I've got a BONE to pick with you!

he actually said it the absolute madman

I enjoyed it, but does this mean crispin and aishe are either brother and sister or cousins.

I heard there were some heartbreaking easter eggs and extra bits and pieces in the Automaton arc does anyone know what they are and how to activate them?

Alright I'm at a loss, how do you get to Rainbow Cove and get Prism Dew? It's clear that it's on Estard, and I think I've even found it on the map, but the cove is blocked off by rocks that I can't get through with the ship or carpet, nobody in Pilchard Bay or Estard has anything to say about it, party chat offers no hints, and I found a scene talking about Pike again so I went to see him and he mentioned the frozen Seadragon but I still can't do anything with it, so I tried just climbing the Beacon without the dew but couldn't do anything at the top

Go through the blue teleporter in the ruins.

Wow I never would have even thought to try that, thanks user

Just talk to every npc.

>walk around at Regenwhateverstein at night.
>talked to the statues, figured out the secret note leading to a secret passage
>go back to bed
>MOTHA FUCKING KIEFER TAKES ALL THE GODDAMN CREDIT

fuck you

...

Only experience i got with Dragon quest is the one that got to PS2. This one any good or?

Today I finally listened to the orchestrated soundtrack and, while it's good, I feel underwhielmed and disappointed. It's not that MUCH of a difference from the midi one. Sure, you can hear some more instrument and the sound is more soft but I don't know.
I must say I'm especially disappointed with the main battle theme. The orchestrated version feels so slow. Meanwhile the midi one is faster and more energic, it fits the battles better in my opinion.

All the DQ games are good. Just varying levels of good to great to amazing.

DQVII is great tier.

>It's not that MUCH of a difference from the midi one.
Its very different from the MIDI one used on the PS1 game. But not that different from the Synth one we got on the 3DS remake. Because the synth version was a literal synth adaptation of the symphonic suite.

That's why people keep emphasizing the difference between MIDI and Synth.

Spoilers: The story about the flower guy that loved the girl but the girl had to pay her debts marrying the mayor's son made me very sad. But I noticed their tombstones being near eachother in the future, so I suppose everything went better than expected?
Also, I legit teared up at the robot island, when I saw that soldier screaming and crying at the dead body of his friend.
Will it be ever explained why D.I.V.A. was pink and the other robots were blue?

Finally finished fucking Alltrades Abbey. Does it matter who goes what? Martial Artist looks really cute on Maribel.

And do you need to grind out vocations? I heard a lot of people were spending hours grinding slimes.

Oh yeah, I keep writing "midi" when I actually mean the synth one on 3DS. My bad.

You revisit the flower island later
Everything goes worse than expected

Hows the ost? the one thing stopping me from picking the game up is that the orchestral soundreach was replaced with midi for the wesstern release.

It's fine. The orchestral version are better but the MIDIs are fine too.

any links to it?

Oh. I almost expected a Romeo and Juliet scenario for the ending. Welp. I'll see it for myself

These fucking assholes.

youtube.com/playlist?list=PLw_jXS6lo-Zt8kwRpjHkrCbHw5Ex7_lWk
It depends on the track.

>That part where you walk in on the Mayor forcing his maid to dress like a bunny girl
>But in the DQ8 remake Jessica gets a skirt added to her bikini because sdkjsdkfjsdf

They did not remove Puff Puff, did they?

Read It pretty much is the symphonic suite. Just digitally reproduced. I actually like the town theme in synth more than the orchestrated version. Something addicting about those flutes.

Still makes no sense why they changed it. But even in the Japanese version, not every song was the orchestrated version. A few were still synth. And many people don't seem to notice the difference until its pointed out.

CERO's standards have changed over the years, blame them. Dragon Quest has always gone for the All Ages rating in Japan.

CERO is also the reason why the female cast in Smash 4 has black voids under their skirt instead of anything of substance like in Melee.

Jester has it as a skill. So no, they didn't remove it.

Ok, I think ill pick the game up then

Nope

Hope you can find it. Its pretty much sold out everywhere.

Really? Did it sell well or they just print a low amount of copies?

>Maribel used her best puff puff on the enemy Lips
>Lips A isn't impressed

>Will it be ever explained why D.I.V.A. was pink and the other robots were blue?>>
We want the overwatch audience.

youtube.com/watch?v=KGOM2vkasAU

No one knows how many copies were printed. But whatever the amount, it sold out really quick. Its on backorder on Amazon and most people who didn't get it in the first week are reporting it sold out.

My local Fry's sold the game 2 days early so I went and bought it. At the time, there was 7 copies available. By launch day, they were all gone. Also saw it sold out in Target and GameStop.

Hope Nintendo is rushing a second print soon. This has got to be the fastest selling DQ game in America.

Qt

I grinded the base classes but stopped there. Nice to have good techniques on everyone. You don't have to though

>Maribel performs her best puff puff on Gracos!
>Gracos isn't interested!

I just checked and its in stock at most stores near me. For one time im actually glad that my area is filled with just normies.

How many hours of gameplay are we talking about here lads?, I am the kind of guy that likes to grind in RPGs (yeah i know grinding in a DQ game is stupid, yet comfy)

You don't need to grind right away, go in with a plan for what classes you want and you should be fine playing normally. You may end up doing a bit of grinding to get the party members who join later caught up.

Go buy three copies. Then sell two of them on Amazon so people outside your area can get a copy. Or you could sell it at an inflated price, if you want to be a dick.

Somewhere close to 80 hours.

wasn't there a show in japan which the protagonist was basically the MC from DQV?
I remember a pic with some thief that licks his dagger and dies from poison, what was that show about?

80 hours if you rush and ignore everything. Well over 100 if you explore everything and level classes. Probably over 150 if you purposefully grind.

I'm 55 hours into the game and I just got Melvin/Myrvn. And there's still one more character to get.

Its long.

The brave yoshihiko. Basically a parody of jrpg stories.

Yoda and the horse were actually the King and Princess

Blew my mind.

What the fuck user, how much did you grind? I'm about 55 hours in too and I'm finishing up the last tablet island right now, and I thought I was taking it slow

Didn't they call him 'King Trode' from the start? Or was this just something I got spoiled on in a spinoff

I'm gonna make Ruff a Prism Peacock for a bit I think, does anyone know what breath attacks they get exactly? Because if they can get Scorch without having to stay as a Monster Masher all the time then oh baby.

I cried when wiggles died. Best character in the game.

Who is this?

Don't worry, his great-great-great-great-great-grandson lives on in the present

He always refers to himself as a king and calls the horse his Princess but Yangus doesn't take it very seriously and the Hero doesn't talk, so I guess at first you could take how Yangus acts literally and believe Trode is just some little gremlin.

But it becomes pretty obvious not that long into the game that he's telling the truth, and the full title of the game is "Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King" after all.

Its a parody of an old Japanese legend. Re-purposing it into the form of a JRPG. Then adding another layer of parody on top of that by mocking how JRPG elements are ridiculous when you try to adapt them to reality.

Its stupid humor with a layer of intelligence underneath. Some episodes were too cheesy for me. Others like the dharma temple or when they end up in modern Tokyo were brilliant.

>Robed guy casts Kafrizzle in a cutscene

No.

NOT AGAIN.

5 or so hours are probably just me having the game on and not playing it. But I did do a fair amount of grinding. My characters all have 4 beginning classes and 1 intermediate class maxed. And I got everything as the casino.

One of the playable characters in Dragon Quest VII.

Kiefer 2: Electric Boogaloo

I've only played IX. I heard people who started with IX were spoiled because it has the most content. Will I be disappointed with VII? I also want to play the other ds releases. The classes were what I loved the most from IX.

>Malign Shrine
Oh fuck, suddenly a dungeon with an actually elaborate layout

In my opinion IX was just a worse version of VII, the only things VII is missing are customizing your characters' looks and the alchemy system, other than that it does it all better

There's a lot of content in VII too. Main story is better and you have actual characters with you.

I think 7's basically just a better version of 9. Only thing 9 has going for it over 7 is Alchemy (since the alchemy pot wasn't introduced to the series until 8)

One of the best parts of Dragon Quest VIII is that it starts literally right after Yangus joins your party. You can even visit the broken bridge right after you leave the grotto. Where the Hero saved him. But you don't realize what it is until 20+ hours into the game when Yangus explains it all in a flashback.

Game has more depth to its story-telling than people give it credit.

They have good rewards on the DLC grottos.

Will we get more? How do I get more tablets?

>D.I.V.A.
what language are you playing the game on?

If you liked DQIX, then DQVII will be the best choice for you. It uses the same sotry arc system and a similar class system. I think DQVII does both better honestly.

I am very early in the game but I have a big issue with MP. Is there an item to restore them? Because I don't find it anywhere. Nobody seems to sell it either.
Every time I go into a dungeon I always reach the boss with half of my magic points.

MP restoring items are rare in DQ, you'll eventually build up a stockpile of them and might even find shops selling them late in the game, but your best bet is to just be careful to conserve MP in dungeons, don't use attack magic if you can efficiently kill the enemies without it, and use herbs instead of healing spells as much as possible

there are no MP restoratives early game
you're just gonna have to rationalize your MP usage and tell Maribel to stop using bang on a single enemy

Italian. I keep forgetting we got some names localized differently.

>tfw Maribel will never bang you

>here lies saucy
>he was banged

Welcome to Dragon Quest. MP restoring items are very rare, start learning to manage your MP.

On the plus side, in DQ7 especially, there are usually a lot of really fucking good abilities that are either really cheap or free that you'll have access to later.

It's E.L.L.I.E. in the English version.

Ok, I'll try to save MP from now on.
>and tell Maribel to stop using bang on a single enemy
That's exactly my problem, goddamn Maribel.

Just use basic attacks instead of magic. You will get hurt more, but you can heal HP at a very low cost by using Medicinal Herbs. While the magic restoration items (magic water and prayer rings) are rare and cannot be purchased.

The more you play, the more you'll realize that Dragon Quest is a game about preparation and efficiency, not brute force. You need to find the most efficient way to do things. And its more efficient to buy 99 Medicinal Herbs and heal HP than wasting MP.

Later in the game, you will find whips and boomerangs. Which make your standard attacks even more efficient.

Just set your party to Follow Orders instead of using the AI, seriously.

or for that part of the game, set Keifer on No Mercy and Maribel on Don't use magic until you reach a boss or need one of them to heal

Or at the very least set it to Don't Use Magic, I just keep everyone on that outside of boss battles and let them use whatever stupid abilities they feel like

They typically use the most efficient attack skill for the current situation, outside of some weird cases like Maribel constantly licking worms

There's Magic Water, but it's fucking rare.
Learn to pick your battles and you'll be better off.

DQVII's balance is totally killed by the traveler's tablets. Single Phials are a common drop so if you're willing to grind a bit you can get enough MP restoration to last you the entire game.

Oh my fucking god I forgot how fruity this thing looked
Hopefully the skills are worth it, the leveling for it is slow as fuck. 27 battles for the first star, I mean really.

>E.L.L.I.E.
Well, that's a cute name. Cuter than Diva, that's for sure.

Even more bizarre would be a timeline paradox. The king doesn't know the whereabouts of his son while his distant relative he never knew exists not in the original timeline.

I've wiped to Envoy for close to 10 times now.

Should I just grind for 20 hours now?

Get a class with Magic Barrier. Like Paladin.

He doesn't have that much health so I just blasted him down with everyone spamming Knuckle Sandwich

Magic Barrier and Oomph help too if you get them off before he Fizzles you, and if you have a Luminary, Hustle Dance is a huge help

Just because it has easy method to grind vocations using slime tablet doesn't mean the system is better, you know. IX's class system was much more well thought than VII.

Sorry, where did I mention grinding with the slime tablet? I'm not bored enough to max out everything immediately like some people around here apparently were.

Remember DQ7's class system was pretty heavily rebalanced for the remake too.

I played DQIX right when it came out and even then I thought it was weaker than the rest of the series, I can't put my finger on exactly what it was about it but I wasn't crazy about it

How unlikely is it that I'll beat VII before the VIII remake comes out? I only play maybe two hours a day on weekdays and I still want to beat SMTIV and IV Apocalypse so I can thin out my backlog. I was also curious if the censorship or "changes" were a big deal? Was anything substantial cut like bosses or dungeons or is it just somewhat trivial things like dialogue and character models? I would like to know this for both the VII and VIII remakes if possible.

>What's this? The liquid metal slime gets up and looks over expectantly!

Gonna make a tablet with this guy and share it as much as possible

With mimics and frighturns for the other two monsters

You're extremely unlikely to beat DQVII this year if you play it that seldom, let alone before VIII releases

It's the longest game in the series and one of the longer JRPGs in general

>With mimics and frighturns for the other two monsters
I'm ok with this
would be a nice place to farm Mimic hearts

I am still pissed the game dosnet let you tell the king that he can go viist his son and daughter in laws grave.

Where the fuck do you use tombola tickets? I'm on the last tablet island and I've still never found a spot to redeem them

>first metal slime encounter
>drops his heart
>get metal slime in my farm soon after

Feels maximum good

I'm pissed that they don't give you the option to piss on his grave.

Thanks for fucking nothing Kiefer, you used to be cool.

But user I was just looking at the book of beasts and metal slimes don't drop their hearts, why are you lying on an anonymous imageboard

You need to get more recruits for your monster Haven. A tent with a Tombala will show up.

I have a tablet with metal mannequins, gem slimes and emperor slimes and i could make one with king metal slimes, metal mannequins and gem slimes.

I-I just wanted to look cool

I don't even have the game ;_;

Ah, so I have to max out the town

It's too bad you can only share tablets once per day and every time I do it I get matched with someone who sent a DLC tablet copy and probably doesn't even have the full meadows yet so I don't get a villager from them

They cut a puzzle dungeon out of the opening in 7 and in one town people are getting drunk from "tea". They changed the music as well. Nothing that I'd say is a big deal.

8 censors some of the costumes and there's one scene change I know of where they removed a guy being made to eat out of a dog's bowl.

Where do you find metal kings

Bro...

>alltrades island
>this utter bullshit
Never realized how much fun this game was until it took the fun away. Jesus, I hate these retarded boss battles. How long til it gets fun again?

Play Dragon Quest VII like its a TV show. Play one 'episode' a day. Some episodes will be under an hour. Others will be 3-4 hours long. But if you just play it that way, you have natural stopping points.

If you end up putting set times like 2 hours on yourself, then you'll wind up stuck in the middle of each story arc.

Muster Strength or Focus Strength?

It actually gets harder after AllTrades. At least, the enemies do more damage and every boss has two attacks per turn. You're still at the easy part.

On the PS1 version however, the Jail/Dharma Temple was the hardest part.

Thanks for the help but I can't win this.

Where is the best place to grind at this point in the game?

The second season lost its charm.

I meant the loss of all my skills thanks to douchebags. I just want to be able to heal and Sap again, dammit.

I have yet to watch season 2 because I heard that it fell off. Plus, I had doubts that anything would surpass the last 2 episodes of the first season. They kind of wrote themselves into a hole where going back to feudal Japan wouldn't make sense anymore. I think the shows writers just expected it would bomb.

All Trades Abbey island is busting my balls.
>locked from using any of my skills/magic
>noticeably stronger enemies
>two consecutive unwinnable story battles
>one optional battle with a soldier accosting a priest who will decimate you
>Dungeon is nothing but dead ends to whittle me down with encounters
>gotta stock up on medicine herbs
>If I avoid enemies to save on herbs I won't have any cash to revive allies if I get wiped out
>absolutely fucked if I didn't buy boomerangs
>Can't sap bosses or buff allies because no skills gimmick
>bosses can dazzle me so I can't even attack
>they will gang up on an ally and sometimes do 60+ damage
>unlimited use healing item heals 25hp max and can only be used in battle

Literally the only strategy available to me is to grind for hours to get the best gear. If the term artificial difficulty doesn't apply to this scenario then I don't know what does besides bullshit.

If someone gets dazzled just use them to spam herbs until it wears off
Make sure you use the Salvation Stone with Maribel, it's a free endless herb when used in battle.

On the same part, comrade. How far have you gotten?

make sure you visit the first town when it's overrun

I've gotten wiped out twice to bosses. On my first attempt i managed to kill the elephant but on the second attempt they kept re-applying dazzle on my team. I'm not having any fun.

>Looking forwards to grinding job classes
>Play normally through the game not avoiding encounters but not going out of my way either
>finish the pretty fun Alltrades section
>Look at my levels
>20,20,19
I'm fucked, aren't I? None of my other tablets are low enough level to use instead too.

Kill the Tiger first. He does the most damage. Neither have very much health.

So I'm at the part where I drained the lake. I didn't rexplore the cave thinking itd let me do after the cutscene, but nope it filled it. Did I miss anything?

You'll get a Drake Slime tablet soon, just use that or grind at wherever you are in the story, it's only marginally harder than slimes

>Kill the Tiger first

Not up to me, It's up to the tag-along npc. Both Ruff and the MC have edged boomerangs which target both enemies.

I've lost to envoy so many times now that I don't have any money to resurrect my team.

Oh boy I wonder how many hours back my last save is.

I've never played a dragon quest game.

I just got this off the shop.

Without too many spoilers, is there anything i should be aware of? Like any super good items or secrets that I can miss if i didn't do something a certain way or something?

I think i read somewhere about mini-medals and i have a link to the guide, so should i just check that every once in a while?

Also I think i saw this game has a class system. Are any classes better than others?

And about seeds- do i just use them whenever i get them on whoever?

Thanks.

Thanks user. Have a Maribel.

Don't waste your seeds on Kiefer. He permanently leaves the party about 15-16 hours in.

So switch to your other weapons? Pretty sure even if you don't do the Casino there are regular weapons stronger than the Edged Boomerangs you can pick up before Alltrades. It's way better to focus down the Tiger first so he can't spam desperate attacks, the pig barely does any damage on its own.

I have never played a dragon quest game but picked this up when I was getting SMTIV:Final

How is it and why should I play it?

you should at least grind priest so MC has zing

no more wasting money for res

Where is this tablet fragment in the Buccanham cathedral? It's not on the floor, I've talked to everyone in there, I'm not seeing what else I can do to get it.

>beat cumulus vex
>recruit one of his minions
>game freezes as i say yes to sending him tonthe meadows
> havent saved since I started the wind place

Fugg

Its hidden in the altar. You have to use the examien button in the menu

my only problem with DQ is the lack of weapons I feel there is not enough variety in the series and thats my favorite thing in rpgs, going to a new town and buying a slightly better weapon

Oh so that's what it is? I figured I'd have to come back to that guard who talks about the pirate ship once I free the pirate ship. Something like "WOAH GOOD JOB HERE'S THIS ROCK I FOUND" like half the fragments in the game.

You just helped two anons here.

>turn Mervyn into a Paladin then a Gladiator
>that air of badassness
I forgot how kinda refreshing it can be to have an old guy as a party member instead of just a party of various teenagers

have you played 8

Oh okay, Thanks.

What is all this talk about tablets? Will the game fill me in in great detail or is it something i should wiki?

Also i've seen some people talk about hitting level 20 too quick or something- whats that all about?

His party chat is great too. Wish I could say the same about Aishe.

IX has a lot of weapons.

Just got to vocations, about 14 hours in.

Two questions:
Vocation leveling is based on experience right? So if I want to tank Hero I run the risk of overlevelling?

Also, in the desert area now. How long until the next party members? At level 17

Compared to the old ps1 version, it is. But IX's class system was still way better. Just the fact that a weapon that's non-native to the class you have it on can be equipped shows that the class system was just an afterthought.

Tablets are plot related, you'll find out in about an hour or so
The way the class system works is that you stop gaining ranks in your classes if your character's levels are too high for the area you're in. People who want to grind on the mini dungeon that's nothing but regular ass slimes have to get there before they hit level 20 if they want to actually get class ranks out of it. Don't worry about it too much and just play normally, if you don't grind you'll probably be about level 15-18 when you get classes.

I played my friends copy of 8 over a weekend once when I was young I remember having the copper sword for ages though

oh does it I will play it after I beat VII and VIII

vocations are based on battles won, except it won't level up on weaker monsters

the buffer is quite large, I think you can farm most monsters 10 levels under you

Is there a way to tell if an enemy is immune to a status? Like the text being different depending on whether a spell just missed or straight up doesn't work on a boss, for example. It's really annoying just having to throw out status effects at random and hope something sticks, and makes me not bother with it in 99% of cases since it feels like I'm more likely to just end up wasting a shitton of turns.

>Vocation leveling is based on experience right?

Yes, but the range is generous. If you really want to grind, you can use the Slime Tablet that you should've received and grind vocations there while gaining almost no experience; anyone below level 20 should still be gaining vocation experience there.

>Also, in the desert area now. How long until the next party members?

About as long as it took you to get to where you are now, if not longer. Get used to your current party, you're not going to see anybody else for a while.

I heard there was some sort of meteor that increases monster recruitment rate?

I want to recruit a metal king slime near krage

Sweet, thanks.

I miss Kiefer.

Not again what, user?

>Dragon Quest VII Thread
Fuck you I like all the Dragon Quest games

About to start this game up after briefly playing Federation Force. What am I in for?

>rocky
>wiggles

Wow, Counting Sheep is incredibly good. I can put every enemy in random encounters to sleep without fail, it basically makes fights trivial. I wonder if enemies start resisting it later on.

Yeah, I've had her for a bit and so far I feel she kinda lacks any kind of distinct personality. Not as distinct as the other three at any rate

I kinda like having him as a Mage, Armamentalist or Sage. Clichéd maybe, but the old wizard trope doesn't get enough love in JRPGs anymore.

>His party chat is great too. Wish I could say the same about Aishe.

I just got back from the part with the magic kingdom and in the past and noticed Maribel not having any party chat responses in the present anymore, I guess her leaving is not too far off now.
I already dread that part, the last hour or so without her complaining already felt like the game had the soul sucked out of it.

What is gran estard in this locilisation? also How do i battle god, the almighty

Have I been rused? I've been running in circles around this altar mashing examine in the menu and can't find anything anywhere

Never played Dragon Quest V, have you?

>frogposter

Try talking to the old lady again
Happened to me too

Oh you didn't do the sidequest for it did you?

You have to go around town and talk to the right people.

You have to talk to someone in the casino who tells you rich dude has fragment. Rich dude is in the lower level to where you used to leave from the castle. He'll tell you he sold it to the armorer. Armorers wife tells you he went to climb beacon. Then you go to top of the dungeon lighthouse armorer tells you he gave it to the priest. Then the priest in the casino leaves and goes to bed at the church. Talk to nun watching over him

>this entire message
...you're the worst kind of person, user

I'm awful at the casino.

Any tips or tricks you have?

I'm playing in Bucchamham

Dragon Quest X localization looking unlikely, but could be reconsidered with enough fan requests

nintendoeverything.com/dragon-quest-x-localization-looking-unlikely-but-could-be-reconsidered-with-enough-fan-requests/

He's actually not wrong. If you talk to the old due at the match card table on the top floor it starts that whole string of bullshit.

For fuck's sake I already went up the Beacon once in the present

I only called it that because that's the game most people are playing right now

>Nintendo is most likely the only way it would get released in the west
>it would only release the versions on Nintendo consoles

try setting your party ai to "fight wisely", it's how I found out metal slimes can actually be put to sleep in this game

I was trying my hardest to win the unwinnable battle against Hybris. (the first round) only to found out it was a battle where you have to lose for a cutscene to get triggered after the party was ko'ed.

If you stall long enough the cutscene happens anyways

it isn't 20 hours, its more like 3-5 hours in. he tells the story as soon as jessica asks why he keeps calling the hero guv.

>implying trolls know the difference

I would be perfectly ok with it if it means I can finally play it without a fucking VPN

were they not meant to be recruitable? So far the only thing that has not been affected by the affinity move was the pillar things

I wonder when SE will realize that if they actually consistently localize and properly market DQ games, they will sell in the west, no fan outcry required.

Hate to break it to you, but Synth and MIDI are one in the same.

I've already got a WiiU so I wouldn't even give a fuck if it means I get my money's worth out of the damn thing finally.

As long as they let you hook up an actual keyboard at least for typing anyways

interesting. I shall try that, user.

Midi is a type of synth but not all synth is midi

To be fair to this particular case, localizing an MMO that's had like three expansions already is a whole different can of worms than localizing a single player RPG.

Fucking hell, thanks user

Rose.

Why would I lie user?

Yeah it annoyed the shit out of me to the point i went to a dragon warrior 7 gamefaqs

This remake has a weird look to it.

Its very cute and charming. Its extremely comfy too. But the characters are very low poly if you compare it to DQVIII port.

I mean I like it. I just wonder why they went with that design choice.

I hope none of you transformed Maribel into a monster. I mean, just imagine making her into a Walking Dead! Or a Lips! That would be so humiliating for her!

The fuck are you on about?
IX did the class system FAR better than VII
>skills are gear-based
>gear is class-based
>Magical Might and Mending

Probably because most of the game is top down camera angles, and the way the camera is positioned in battle, you very rarely see your party up close.

As opposed to DQ8 3DS which is set up basically exactly like the original's camera, they probably just lifted the models straight out of it too. Like Capcom has been doing with Monster Hunter for ages.

I read in another thread that making Ruff a shepherd is a good idea. The vocation looks pretty bad, what is the advantage?

That's only the first of 3-4 about him. You gotta wait on the others.

DQVII is most likely using a modified version of the Dragon Quest IX engine. Dragon Quest VIII is a port of the PS2 game. Can't really compare them. Though honestly, the quality of the models in DQVII are far better than I imagined they would be. As if they were trying to go for the look of Dragon Quest VIII.

It leads to Monster Masher, which is a very good class

Maybe.

I mean its just jaring when they get a close up in cutscenes. Cus the models look really good from the usual distance.

Same style as 9 and the 3ds version of 11

the old hag?

>grinding for notso hearts
>get like 3 in an hour
>mervyn levels up
>suddenly getting one every couple of fights

Just from my extremely bias grinding it seems as if heart drops increase if you're higher than a certain level on each mob. Can anyone else confirm

Why do you need so many of them?

What classes do I need for Paladin

ArtePiazza, who developed the DS remakes/ports also did the VII remake, so that might answer your question.

Then again, they also did the original game with Heartbeat. You should also remember that VII is a rather early 3DS game.

>no way to zoom on models like DQ8
>try and fail to get a closer look at Maribel in some of her lewder costumes

I don't think she should be doing that Naruto anime run in that Chinese dress from the Martial Artist class, that's downright indecent.

A lot of 3DS games have really nice models. The system's got decent hardware, it's just that the shitty 240p screen makes a lot of things look shittier than they should. I get that it has to be that tiny cause the 3D effect essentially renders everything twice, but that whole feature has been super unnecessary for everything except a few parts in Mario 3D Land.

Fucking hell, what's the requirement to win the Style rankings? I've got Aishe up to like 330 Style and she's still only in 2nd place.

well I needed five and was grinding jobs

dont have any other tablets with heart so just kept grinding there

In case you didn't know already, monsters have a significantly higher chance to drop their hearts in tablet dungeons, so if you use Animal Magnetism to recruit the monster you want, then send it to get a tablet, it makes farming hearts a lot more painless

user....

>the area outside of Gröndal is basically Slime paradise

Boss monsters can also be recruited. So if you ever get a king metal/plat king boss, you can use that to recruit it.

On that note, some people are reporting even with 3 metal kings they won't totally populate the dungeon

However, if you set a metal mannequin as a leader (a special monster) then you do when you set them as support.

Nevermind, I just remembered who Greta was. Fuck, at least I didn't waste any of those Style boost consumables on Aishe before I remembered that.

...

Make sure not to hit that level cap.

just bought it earlier today. what am I in for?

Mervyn you old dog

Best place to grind vocations after level 25?

Wherever

please dont say i have to go through the full ending bit again if i beat the end boss a second time.

ArtePiazza sucks. Both DQV and VI had better port/remakes than this.
Like, why didn't they remake the menu like they did in DQV and VI? Why is it so clunky and slow?

When is maximo gonna give me the fucking tablet piece I'm tired of this faggot medals REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

the game engine used in those ports was pretty much the same old one of the original games while in this one the game engine is completely overhauled. That's also why the game is so slow compared to those.

Where is the lucky slot machine in the Buccingham casino?

I wish they kept the old graphics and engine. Playing VII right after those is just painful.
The game is already slow paced by design, the port makes it even slower.

Also I have a shitton of abilities, many of them do exactly the same thing. Why the hell is that? Couldn't they remove/fix that?
This game is so badly designed, it's simply a wonder that it still manages to be fun.

>wanting the original graphics for VII

Why? They were bad, even in 2000.

>the port makes it even slower.
You really need to go back and play the PS1 version and reconsider what you just typed.

i've heard that keifer leaves the party for good, does he leave on the island with the dancers and lala

Just look at the ones that have two rows of 7's showing before you do your first spin
The 100 token machines don't have two rows of 7's on any of them but once you get enough tokens to spam them endlessly they become your best bet for making a profit.

What happens if you hit the level cap? You can't train the jobs anymore or something?

I literally have the worst luck with that double 7 slot machine.

Savescum harder then

Vile vials are pretty cool if you have that tablet
They drop seeds of magic sometimes

Yeah.

>just ranked up to get Metal Slash
>after beating a Metal Slime

Yurp.

What is the level cap?

Also, I'm just trying to get a meal king for monster meadows

I keep hearing it's 20 after Alltrades. I just got to The fucking Groundhog Day island. and I'm not sure what it is there.

>mercury is poisonous
>metal slimes don't poison when attacking

When do I get the key that unlocks all the doors and chests? I keep getting keys that don't seem to do much.

yep

>enemy has fur
>when you lick them you don't get a hairball

what fucking gook is killing my realism?

Solid mercury isn't poisonous.

>I just got to The fucking Groundhog Day island
I thought the exact same thing. Pretty fun vignette.

Danke

Just saved Ballymolloy. I really like where the story is going. Can't think of anything more rewarding than seeing your good deeds instantly paid off. Also, my favorite things about DQ are the towns because they each have their own stories, problems, heroes, etc. that you get to become a part of. It really makes the world feel more worth saving.

Oh so that's where the missing half of the Roamer island went
Orgodemir was the last boss of Disc 1 in the PS1 version, right?

>fed him all the resilience nuts and str nuts I got
>hit 100+ whenever charging his weapon
>won't get that back now
well shit

Mervyn is Oakland all along.

What do the two bonus dungeons contain? im to lazy to actually tyr and get all these tablets for them

>managed to animal magnetism 2 king lsimes 4 times

>Doesnt get me a metal king friend

WHY MUST I SUFFER

Yup

People have said the seeds that you put into Kiefer will be passed down to one of the new character. Though I don't know if this is true or not.

Which tablet is this?

The forced party is why I dropped this on the PSX. I really hate how they kept taking party members away, especially once I got classes and tried to get classes leveled with characters that fucking took off right after.

The dude you have to recruit is in present day sand village I think.

Beats me, I never gave him any seeds.

Don't worry, the game gives you an asston of seeds and you can farm an endless amount if you're bored enough.

nice
also when i'm at it, when do I get class changes
i'm lvl 16 on MC and Mari and 12 on Ruff
i'm on dancer island currently

Sailor inside the pot, yes

Next island

>Maribel wants to push a man off a cliff to his death for fun

Is there a faster way to sell shit? Got to the casino and I want to keep matchan and making dosh, but holy fuck selling stuff is unbearably slow. I assume no, which means I need to hoard my sheckels for as long as possible before selling.

Also are tokens better to get via something like poker? I should probably stop matching once I get all of the good items since money seems more or less worthless so far. I always have enough and don't grind.

One more question. How long until I get the final party member? Having three is the butts.

you have three party members for like 3 or 4 islands.

Tokens are best earned with slots. Poker is rigged and not in your favor.

and sadly there is no faster way to sell shit.

If you have an earlier save then playing in the casino at the inn before all trades is a good idea. Play the matching game using a pen and paper. It is easy to win and you can get a shit load of items to upgrade your equipment and sell for cash.

The only casinos are the past and present on the alltrades island right? It's about time I hit one up

>Torban competition
>The random players before Crispin are named Jimi and Eddie

what if you play the wiiu version? do you need a vpn

there's also a yngwie

I gave 50 mini medals to King Maximillo, but how do I get the tablet fragment?
It's the only tablet fragment I'm missing.

That one, there's a casino in another town way later in game, and also one in your migrant town after a certain point.

Fully upgraded haven has one too. If you play the matching game in the present day all trades casino you can win a zombiesbane. It is a great sword that can carry you for most of the game.

And a Lemmy RIP

it's reportedly 85. Happy hunting.

is that a tablet you're suppose to get for end-game?

Yeah that's right
Also at 90 you get a Metal King Shield

Post game dungeon. It's one of 4 for the first one.

I see. Which town had the next casino? I'm close to raising all these islands back from hell.

It's the very last island.

Hah.

Also, what the fuck do I do after stopping time? I am lost. Like, am I supposed to just let all of the fuckups happen?

Fuck me. I'm gonna guess this is a lull in the game then. Thanks.

Go look at the painting in the Doctor's basement.

Go to the clock tower painting

What is the best Dragon Quest and why is it your favorite?

I'm missing one tablet fragment for this new island, but it can't be the one for King Mini-medal?

I'm a sucker for 9 because
>equipment shows up on party
>class system

Thank you.

Menu -> Info -> Next Fragment

Nice now after 15h of gameplay i'm trapped at the Abbey, i can't beat the boar and tiger boss.

Spam Herbs with Maribel
Kill the Tiger first
They should be easy enough to beat at level 16ish

well the text says to go meet King Maximo, but it can't be right. I only got 50 mini medalsthere has to be another one somewhere else.

...

In that case that green island might not be your next destination. What other fragments do you have?

I want a King Slime for a pillow

last island I did was Hubble town both past and Present day. I became friend with the present day Queen and then I left the city.

We have all been waiting for this game since February of 2013

Was it worth the wait?

>post yfw that tiger desperate attacks a thousand times in a row

It sure was. It doesn't help this was the first mainline game we've got in SIX YEARS.

You now want Dragon Quest VII amiibos

>a few days before this was released it was announced that Joker 3 was getting a professional edition that we'll probably never see
Bittersweet my dude, game is great though.

Since its the best upgrade to a previous DQ game yet, I'd say yes. I'll fully admit that DQVII on PS1 was my least favorite game in the series. But I'm addicted to the 3DS remake.

Amiibos are shit

Thinkin bout starting 7. Which version is the definitive choice?

even if they're... slimey?

...

A super comfy and very long jrpg

>amiibos
No I don't. I do want a DQVII strategy guide however.

iPhone one.

Are there really supposed to be Roamers at Hubble island? Because it's the only island that fit the description of really "North-West"

ha ha ha! surely you jest

Its the exact island where you met them at the past.

i don't know shit about dragon quest other than i played DQ8 about a year ago and absolutely loved it

is this game worth getting? i love old school turn-based RPGs

It took me over 2 hours to get to the first battle, wew.
At least the game is fun.
Is there anything missable that I should know?

HOW DO I BEAT THIS ASSHOLE?!

Destroy/check all the cupboard/pot/barrels. You'll find many hidden items there.

How close am I to unlocking vocations? I'm at the second island where people were turned to stone.

>in Nottagen
>finally done with the tower and maxing classes
>sky is back everyone happy yadda yadda
>go to priest to save
>close 3DS real quick to get some water
>open 3DS
>"the SD Card was remo--"

Get a Shepherd for Wool Blanket or a Monster Masher for Insulate

Cast Dazzle

Are there any optional islands that I can miss from not searching hard enough for fragments?

5 or so islands away

shoot it until it dies.

If you think he's hard, just wait until you have to fight Gracos V

I beat him having Maribel spam Hustle Dance and occasionally Midheal.

Is there a trick to combat I'm not getting or is it literally just hurling my most overwhelming force at the enemy when warranted?

It's not that I'm having difficulty, it's just that I feel like the buffs and debuffs aren't really having the payoff that would warrant devoting a turn to them that I could just use barraging the enemy.

I don't really care either way, I just want to make sure I'm not missing something important.

If you like old school RPGs and liked 8, absolutely.

This is the best one.

don't bother with buffs/debuffs outside of boss fights

sweet christ, my SMT Strange Journey save got corrupted like that and I was almost at the end. I feel your pain

Recommended class for Mervyn? I was thinking this.

Warrior>monk>priest>paladin>gladiator>champion.

Man, Cumulus Vex is a real difficulty spike. Or maybe it's just because I've got no advanced vocations mastered on anyone yet. Hero and Gabo have all the basic vocations done and are working on Monster Masher and Pirate, respectively. Mervyn is on Mage, Aira is on Thief.

Probably gonna go grind til I get them into their advanced vocations.

>Rom Baro teleports us all away
>Crispin is still fucking KO'd

>get on carpet
>go north west
>the camp is set up and super visible
Dude

IT WAS THE MONSTER MASH

IT WAS A GRAVEYARD SMASH

That's good, especially if you don't plan to keep Aishe on.

I'm not playing this today anymore
I'm so fucking mad

Buffing and debuffing is really only for bosses, typically you should be able to end random encounter with 1-3 turns. Whips and bommerangs are are great, always use them when you can. If it has decent offense for the point in the game you're at go for it.

My PS2 memory card got corrupted on the fucking post-credits save in DQ8, I replayed the entire fucking game in a week just so I could go do the bonus dungeon.

I really like how they made the king slime properly giant and wobbly.

I want to see it fill the screen as a tablet boss.

why exactly does Zoom fail in the past?

so what are the most absolutely cunting status spamming monsters to make a tablet with

As a tablet boss it's so big that only its mouth is low enough to stay on screen

I actualy want to try to use everyone to a degree but for the most part I plan to probably have my party be hero, maribel, ruff, and mervyn. I actually am making everyone a different class, makes them more unique that way.

Because fuck you. Walk.

I thought that was a joke class so I never bothered with it.
Oh god. This faggot just two hits my maribelle when i try to Dazzle him and I keep losing.
What class?

past areas are small enough that you don't really need it though

if you make a 1/8 slime dungeon does the boss summon other slimes to make the boss?

Mervyn can do everything well.
A lot of people make him priest>mage>sage since you lose Maribel for a while and Ruff and Aishe aren't as magically talented.

If it makes you feel better, I had the game boot out to the New3DS' home menu after beating a fucking long dungeon.

Oomph+kabuff+muster strength+knuckle sandwich
>mfw it did 750 damage

If you just make him a Paladin right away his Multiheal and Thin Air are more than enough to carry you through that chunk of the game
I'm surprised they didn't start him with levels in Paladin, "Legendary Hero" my ass.

I literally killed him in three or four turns, do people really find him hard? Wasn't even using advanced classes either.

>Not hitting for over 1000
You haven't seen SHIT yet

awesome, i'll pick it up after work tomorrow.

does this game have a postgame?

>Oomph+kabuff+muster strength+knuckle sandwich
>Miss!

Can I get a small hint please?

I just entered Al-Bad?? Desert world, and none of the 3 places I can enter seem to lead to progress. A guy just turns me away at the village and the palace and river dont have anything of interest I can find. What am I missing?

And that is why I don't bother with doing that shit anymore.

Can you do that much with out a advanced class?

how much of the stuff in this game is missable? i fucking HATE missing shit in games, but i also fucking hate reading guides and walkthroughs on first playthroughs

Who do I get to talk to animals? Also how much longer till I can change jobs?

go into the palace

Remember that midget who could talk to animals back in Estard Island

Go to the deepest palace floor and explore it properly, you will meet up with a npc who gives you access to the town.

starting island to the left

about 10hrs away prob

the woodcutter to the west of pilchard bay

So uh... can anyone tell me do i need to put the shard in the well in a chest or did they remove that ridiculous shit?

Is knuckle sandwich even that good? I usually use double edged slash instead since it doesn't seem to miss and my hero has good defense and heals after every turn anyway

Luminary.

l-lewd

>is knuckle sandwich even good
Its fucking amazing, sap and oomph make it monsterous. I wouldn say for regular encounters its okay and useful in a pinch when you need high damage but it really shines in boss battles.

I've seen it do some pretty crazy damage, but if you're in the position where the damage from double-edge isn't a big deal, then you can really use either.

Sometimes I just like the imagery of BTFO of something annoying with a punch

>getting a sexual vibe from that and not oh fuck are my toons going to drop dead

How long after what I assume disc 2 starts until I get to the abbey again?

Maribel is finally ready to be a fluid druid and my hero is stuck spinning around as a fuckwit turtle

>stumble upon thin air move, realize how broken it is
>underwater palace's toughest enemy is completely immune to it

I just beat the dungeon, but those abyss divers were annoying as hell, especially when they came in threes, but separate 'groups'

>Finish Nottagen.
>THEN went and got Melvin

Well I think I done goofed. I thought sizzling stone was for breaking that frozen boat out of that waterfall.

I mean, final destination has him kicked for Kiefer 2 or Kiefer prime maybe, but still. He doesn't have any job expehs and I think I missed me a lot of grind time.

>>>>>>>>>>>toons

I've heard that, while difficult, it is possible to beat Rashers and Stripes the first time you fight them. Does anyone know if this is true? If so, what happens afterward? Does it wind up being a "but thou must (lose)" and have them go "Oh shit you guys are strong" and simply wreck you in a cutscene?

I always thought stuff like beating the fights you're expected to lose (like the first encounter with Gades in Lufia 2) and getting rare items was cool, so I'm asking to sate my own curiosity.

Dont know how I missed it, feels like I went all over that palace.

Thanks

All the "unbeatable" bosses in DQ7 just have an asston of HP
If you grind your ass off beforehand you can still beat them, but the plot proceeds as if you lost anyways.

Nah no problem, there has been some moments I felt like a complete dumbass upon figuring out a solution.

These threads have been a lot of fun, Cred Forums actually discussing a game really great. Everyone sharing and discussing the game has been fun.

>tell Cayenne I didn't enjoy the food she made
>heh... guess the poison hasn't kicked in yet...
>that long ass pause before telling me it was a joke
what the fuck

>No mention of the sudden ominous music that plays
Did you have the volume down during that pause?

im fighting rashers and stripes full stock of medicinal herbs and maribel for healing with the salvation stone but keep getting wiped out. am is it a level issue? my hero and maribel are 15 and ruff is 12.

Kill the Tiger first
Use Maribel for full time healing
Use anyone who's Dazzled for full time healing
Once the Tiger goes down it should be cake

Try using boomerangs and Buff on everyone. Also try to take out Stripes first.

What?

Which job turns Ruff's partner into a flamethrower?

>you will never have a pet slime

Monster masher.

already doing that. and maribel cant use buff nobody can use magic or abilities in this section. some guy on youtube said i should be at least lvl 17 but im not sure if he means ruff also which would suck since he is only 12 right now. the fight is just random sometimes they only focus the npc sometimes they crit and instakill one party member.

what are the wrecked specs for

Thief + Shepherd = Monster Masher

Thanks

>finally encounter Jawtoises again so I can get their hearts
About time

12 is a bit low but not impossible, did you stock up on medical herbs?

Ruff's stats at level 12 are about on par with everyone else. He's on a different level curve entirely, he won't really start to catch up until after Alltrades

yup.

Another skill it has is animal magnitism, makes it so monsters have a higher chance of asking about the monster meadows after battle. Good class, even a nice end game class for him if you want. I also recommend using monster hearts for him.

iirc there's an old man who is missing them. Cannot remember where though.

Try to make it so your characters are stocked up on them. Focus strength followed by knuckle sandwich also deals amazing damage.

He's talking about the fight with the tiger and the pig before you get your powers back, not Cardinal Sin

Either way he really shouldn't be having a problem with them at that level

>MC is a monster masher.
>I could have had a fire breathing wolf instead.

>Get Pirate class unlocked for Ruff
>the wolf doesn't get an eyepatch

huge missed opportunity

Is there a way to call that jew merchant at Dr. Digby's site out on his bullshit and expose him?

Yeah I realized my mistake reading it, sorry.

don't worry, he'll get his eventually

Is there a way to nuke Vogograd?

I just got done with that part :(

RIP Wiggles and Rocky

yeah im looking at a japanese lets playe and he beat them at lvl 14 and ruff 12 so im not sure whats happening. the only difference seem to be our weapons so if i loose again im gonna load my other save and get stronger weapons before i get stuck and all that.

>What luck! Some Horse Manure!

Y-Yeah, real lucky.

wait how does ruff use monster classes with the wolf? Do they just become the same monster or does he ride the wolf in monster form? Fuck, I hope it's the latter

>you can show the cat in the desert village the Sand Seal
>it starts purring if you do

This made me laugh a lot for some reason.

>What luck! You found a Walking Corpse Heart.

"use" it

>that dog in the village near Ygg think's it's the demon king

I always liked Torneko's appraisal dialogue from IV about it

I always give it to beggars I encounter

>oh shit this boss has an attack that deals over 100 damage to each party member
>ok cool I'm supposed to lose
>...
>not supposed to lose

what if there was a Dragon Quest Monsters x SMT game that doesn't completely miss the fucking point

>the wolf is the one breathing fire and ice and doing roundhouse kicks
Pretty badass

The artstyles clash too much and SMT fans are unpleasable

>muster strength instead of focus strength

ha ha time for multiheal

fair point, I just thought the gameplay styles would mesh well

wait really? I haven't used a monster heart on him yet bit I don't wanna lose the wolf

>use Klepto Cobbler
>wolf grabs ruff with the mouth and slams him against the enemy
The wolf is fucking hardcore

What if we dragged Kaneko back from the field of flowers to draw his own version of all the DQ monsters, and got Toriyama to draw his own versions of all the SMT demons?

holy shit that artist switch would be incredible

>Tiamat by Toriyama
>Psaros by Kaneko

I'm at the robot island and the boss keeps wrecking me

First those 3 automatons randomly deal 40 damage to one of my party members if im unlucky, then i need to heal and focus down tinpot guy and after that the slaughtatron once again deals 40 single target damage and can attack twice

How do i do this? I heal with Hero since he doesnt have much better use for the MP, Sap with maribel and just spam flameslash and ruffs offensive ability

>mara by toriyama
>the sexy witches by kaneko

Make sure everyone has their best gear. That boss should be dealing about 25 damage, not 40.

so who else played IX so much that they multi-vocation and multi-weapon trained their party to be gods, statistically?

>priest and mage are so strong that spells do 3x regular damage
>and one could cast two spells in the same turn
>warrior could tank everything for the whole party with occasional healing support while passively building tension with every hit tanked
>MC was kind of a jack of all trades fuck-o superthief

I need several thousand gold for that and each fight on the overworld gives me like 100.

Do i really need to do 30 boring fights just for this?

Depends, what would the defense increase be? If it's just 2 or 3 more points, no, but if it's more than 5 it's definitely worth getting. I only mean this early. If you have a few resilience seeds, you can spread them around, too. Buff works wonders, as well, if you can set it up on everyone before things start getting rough.

I'm 43 hours in and overworld fights still give like 100 gold each, treasure it like a madman.

Sell any old shit you've got too

casino maybe?

Can someone tell me where Not Haven/Abbey Casino is? Someone said the last island but I've already forgetten which one it is.

The first casino is in alltrades, a few islands later than that.

So I just hit Level 25 for Maribel and Hero playing maingame so I can't grind vocations on the Drakeslime Tablet anymore.

Any recommendations? Would any of the other tablets work?

He's way too early for that

Vile Vials works until at least 31 if you're that far. Make sure you one hit them all first turn though.

Just keep playing, you really don't need to grind for jobs outside of the main quest if you have an endgoal in mind.

Ah, sorry. I thought you meant Monster Masher. Ruff and the wolf presumably become the same monster when using monster classes

Basicly every item sold has more than +5 increase, i would need around 6k gold to fully armor up my party

An overworld fight only gives 50 gold, so that would be 120 fights.

This is starting to feel real grindy

I don't know what to say, dude, I haven't had to grind for equipment since the first island. If that won't work, try Buff in the battle. You can use it twice on each character, though it does run out like Sap after a few turns.

ix deserves a remake but since x is basically the same game it will probably never get one. and we wont get x either so...

I didn't have much trouble buying shit by the time I got to that island. Explore the overworld, if I remember correctly there's a chest on that island with a shitton of gold in it.

>everyone in Faraday is gone
What do?

Does DQ7 have anything like DQ9 have? IE limited time dls for dungeons and gears?

>tfw you're grinding on an enemy that fucks you up hardcore when it first showed up

Feels good man.

Are you on the cloud boss?

It has limited time monster tablets. Which are basically mini dungeons that are optional. However, there's a possibility you can trade for these tablets with other players who offer them.

Yeah, there's temporary DLC tablet dungeons. You can get them once you have a few people in your monster village.

That's from Dragon Quest IX tho

Yup, just beat him. Got a little lucky, as he didn't use that attack at all on my second try.
I went all the way back to switch my MC to Paladin for nothing.

How long does it take to get to the village? I just started the game.

Haven is the third island, so probably the 10 hour mark.

What the fuck does the game want me to do?

Ruff can talk now, and Im stumped. Talking to the party tells me nothing, talking to the shrine guy tells me nothing, I'm just wandering.

thanks

Check "next fragment" in the menu.
Usually, you go back to the same island you visit and re-explore the places you went to to find new fragments that unlock the next island.

Please respond my goodes

Holy shit I've made 30k off Slime Hearts so far

Wow I guess it's a good thing I made Merv fucking invincible considering he has to go solo for it

It says there's one in the grotto, but when i go there the tracker is blank

Nigga did you grab the tablet in the guy's shop on animal island?

Yes

At what point do you get the king slime or whatever that manages monster meadows, and allows you to make your own tablets? I just got the flying carpet , and have had tons of monsters run off to the meadows, but I've heard you gotta wait to get that guy before you can do anything with it, first.

You need to save the island Monster Meadows on in the past first

>Vile Vial used snooze
>Vile Vial used snooze
>Vial Vial used snooze
>Vial Vial blows sand everywhere

When do you unlock the class system or whatever? I'm on the island where everbody is an animal

It comes in about 10 hours later. I didn't unlock vocations until about 18 hours in.

The good news is once you get to Alltrades Abbey, all you have to do is go there and get your vocations, easy peasy.

Just wait for Dragon Quest Monsters when they released it...Never.

'Bout 20 hours in.

anyone else rename him back to Melvin?

It's funny because Mervyn is more engrish sounding anyways.

how do I get more monsters in the Haven? I'm at Wilted Heart, and I only have the slime from Pilchad Bay

>they attack before your party has a chance to react

Mervyn is a real name though

Maybe you missed one in the past.

Yeah I just went to the past and the tracker is going off

>not making your whole party slimes and giving them slime names
For shame

Talk to each new haven resident and they'll give pretty obvious clues on where the next one will be. sometimes you'll need to advance the story though.

Next one will be in Estard's Inn though, I'll tell you that much.

No, but I did make Ruff back into Gabo and Aishe back into Aira

What's the best game to earn tokens at the cassino?

Roulette
If you want tokens -> money conversion then do flip cards and sell what you win

What i found odd was his default name is Sir Mervyn and not just Mervyn

>Kiefer and his father Donald

Was that intentional?

I named him Enix

literally who

What the fuck, is there any reason for me not to use Sic 'Em every turn against a group of enemies?

wow, how did I not catch that

none whatsoever. That's his best attack skill.

Nope
There are a lot of abilities that will completely replace your basic attack in most cases
Keep in mind that abilities cannot crit though. And some weapon special effects don't work with all abilities.

So the whole world's gone to shit, when do I get to go back to Alltrades? I got Maribel back and she's almost done the last basic job I was working on for her before she left. I need to make her a Sage/Luminary/Druid ASAP

after emberdale 2nd visit

>They may have destroyed my shop, but they'll never take my freedom
>My freedom to make money. that is!

So the guy at the magjc consortium place left me something back in the future. He left a hint to make a cross at a statue. But where do I do this?

I just not really feeling VII all that much through 10 hours. I mean I'll keep with it but it's definitely no V or VIII

big ass fucking room with the staircase in the middle that you can't reach because of the water

So I just found the princess that's actually a slime in disguise & she said the next haven resident is near a statue prying I'm guessing that's the desert temple right?

Okay, but how do I get to it?

ye

No, it's the Likeness statue. You need the flying carpet to get there. You can find the priest on the entrance area, outside the building.

...

Did you not open the treasure chest in the castle where you had to make a cross?

Jesus I would have never figured that shit out. Thanks m8!
