I'm not going to listen to the DGS one to comment on it but I honestly reacted badly to the pursuit themes from games 2 3 and 6 and then grew to love them over the course of the game.
Context does a lot for the music in these games. Still there are some obvious standout ones like AAI2 and vs layton and the original is something special.

Good evening, everybody! Like I already informed you yesterday, after I paid a visit to the family grave and informed my ancestors, I joined the wrap-up party of the anime series Ace Attorney somewhere in Tokyo, then caught the last Shinkansen back to Osaka. And now I'm feeling strangely restless.

Gather at 5:30 PM at the place, watch the last episode together and then start the party... it was all arranged neatly like that. So there was my reunion wth director Watanabe and the other familiar faces. There are quite some people among the production staff who like Ace Attorney, and it was a great team, with a warm atmosphere. I was deeply moved by them.

Here and there we'd reminiscence about the production and took some commemorative photos. This is Masashi TAMAKI, who played Edgeworth, Toru NARA, who played Larry and myself, Takumi, who played Gallery Background Character A.

Looking back, it was more than a year ago when we had our first meeting. The first half year I had meetings with the scenario team led by Mr. Tomiaka of Series Structure and in the second half year, I was in the studio for voice recording... So I got to peek inside a part of the production cycle, and it was really a precious experience.

The heroic back figures of the whole cast standing behind a mic made an impression on me. Yuki KAJI, who got a hold on the overwhelming amount of lines with an overwhelming amount of enthusiasm, Masashi TAMAKI who always kept pursuing "Edgeworthiness", Aoi YUKI who through her variety gave brilliant color to Maya, all of them.

I talked a lot with director Watanabe over the year over our Tokyo ←→ Osaka hotline and I really regret it's all over now. (...The director might be happy he's finally released from that fussy original creator...). I am really grateful for his efforts.

The last episode was... how should I put it, it was shocking in a lot of ways, but "that one scene" at the end was reproduced really well, and it was really like the stereotypical finale. We of course had a luxurious dinner tonight at the Takumi home to celeberate we made it through the broadcasting period safely!

The menu was of course, miso ramen (HAMBURGERS), tonkatsu, steak, yakisoba...and bettarazuke. They just happen to be Maya's favorite foods, but seeing them next to each other like this... they're all kinds brownish foods...

Anyway. This closed the curtain on another project. Really a lot of people came to the wrap-up part, so you've all done a great job & thank you very much! I hope that everybody who watched the show all the way to the end have enjoyed it.

As for me, I am focusing with everything I have on Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2, so I'll dig deep underground and live there for a the moment. I hope the day will come when I can talk to you again. And with another brownish face showing themselves, I say goodbye!

We haven't seen her chemistry with Horn Head outside the courtroom, though, so who knows.

Now that Amara is around, though, they could have it so that she performs Séances and the Dance of Devotion so Rayfa can take a little vacation overseas, arguing such experiences would help Rayfa become a better queen, maybe even send her to Kurain for a bit so she can learn the differences in their channeling styles.

I'm not convinced that they're going to keep the two casts as seperate to each other as it currently seems to be honest. Either Phoenix goes back over there, or Apollo comes back to Japanifornia to visit, or whatever. Rayfa visiting the Kurain Village is something I'm expecting to happen eventually too.

Actually, now that I think about it, Rayfa and Trucy are nice parallels to each other. Both had adoptive dads, but it's Trucy's birth father and Rayfa's adoptive one who are scumbags. Rayfa, however, never knew Inga was adoptive, and unlike Trucy, she learns just how terrible her dad was. Zak fucks Nick's life, Inga downright ends Dhurke's, and so on.

Also, the one thing that pissed me off about this case was the location of the wound. Apollo points out in the investigation that it was his side that was supposedly stabbed rather than his back, but Ema says Sad Monk knows and will make the claim in court that he was turned to the side when stabbed. Then, when you investigate the coffin, the sides being switched around is noted as an important point because there's not enough room to turn around while inside.

The biggest problem is that the game feels unfinished. It's like if SoJ had ended at the trial of 5-1. There is an entire game's worth of build-up for various plotlines and mysteries, and you get absolutely ZERO payoff for any of it. The game might as well have ended with a screen shouting at you to buy the sequel.

The other big problem is the characters. I didn'' give a fuck about any of them except maybe Holmes and Susato. Sure, their personalities seem interesting at first, but almost no one gets any character development and just when it seems like they might get some, the game ends. The most glaring example of this is the Prosecutor Von Zieks -- you keep getting hints about him having some kind of grudge against Japanese people throughout the game and there is the whole mystery of what happens to defendants who face him, yet by the end of the game you find out almost nothing about him.

Unlike everyone else, I really liked Klavier. He was a really tough rival. When is he coming back as a guest prosecutor?

Nah, I was genuinely invested in 6-5 and the final showdown just felt way more satisfying with it happening in a courtroom instead of a circus tent. I2-5 was great but 6-5 was better imo.

I think the 'lack of pay-off' complaint is a little overblown. It's only truly disappointing regarding Van Zieks, who is pretty much AAI Lang-tier of unexplained if not worse in terms of character motivation, and everything about case 1, which goes completely unexplained for the entire game until it gets a tease at the very end. Stuff like the contents of the Morse code message and of the Hound of the Baskervilles manuscript didn't feel that bad to me, it seemed like the kind of stuff introduced late enough that expecting it to be resolved by the end would be unrealistic and rushed.

I certainly wouldn't kill Toneido but it's very easy to see where she was coming from. She may have had the ability to kill, but she didn't seem like the kind of person that would do it for any other reason. Toneido is what brought out that ability and made her a murderer, and while killing him was obviously the wrong choice, I can't blame her for doing it.

Bucky was noted to have been screaming like a maniac by everyone else there at the time, plus he was plastered. I agree that he probably wouldn't have done it then and there, but what if he was pushed for another 10 years like Geiru? His name was still on the deed to the shop, but based on Toneido's track record, who's to say he wouldn't have kept it and made Bucky open a new shop to """"""follow his own path?""""""

The flashback cases were neat, I loved getting to play as best girl Mia and see some character origins. Godot was a great character. Getting to play as Edgeworth at the beginning of the last case was a blast. None of the filler cases were terrible and Furio Tigre was fucking amazing.. Really good music as well. It is easily worthy of being someone's favorite game

Besides, we never really get to see much of Mia's skill as an attorney. We only see her lead cases back in her early days as a rookie, and whenever she lends Nick a hand, it's usually with a case that she's already intimately familiar with.

Mia was an attorney for a good half a decade prior to her death. Yet it's Nick who became the legendary attorney in less that time.

It sort of feels like they were going to delve into Inga's motivations, but sort of dropped everything at some point. He could have easily been trying to get the Orb because he felt the queen had gone to far, and his actions as Justice Minister were purely to stop Ga'ran from completely decimating the country.

I liked when another user pointed out the reason his desk was stuffed full of years worth of execution orders could have been because he was holding off on executing innocent people for as long as he could get away with.

Or, he was just a murderous asshole. Probably shouldn't forget that option.

It wasn't a well constructed case. You present the crime scene photo over and over again, the cards keep fading in and out of mattering, Athena's little logic burst at the end was totally unnecessary. And Athena is the worst character of the main cast, the case would have been really enjoyable and interesting if you actually played as Simon the whole time. We've seen prosecutors take the role of defense attorney before, so I see no reason for him to put Athena in charge of it.
6-2 is a good case with a variety of evidence and witnesses that comes together well and has nicely executed twists and turns. I was actually pretty surprised at the conclusion of it, which doesn't happen much in these games, you can usually figure out pretty much what went down like half an hour before the final breakdown

The presiding judge knew that Blackquill was a prosecutor. It never would have flown. The only reason it worked for Edgeworth was because the judge for that segment of the trial was different from the usual one, and he didn't know Edgeworth.

It really doesn't help that the Garidebus might have the most obnoxious gimmick of any AA witnesses in the series. The tea spilling thing stopped being charming literally the second time it happened.

Also, Blackquill isn't like Edgeworth. He wouldn't bother pretending to be an attorney, not even for Athena. Especially considering she works for a law firm with two other attorneys.

The AA series reminds me of the One Piece series, where the MC wants to be a "pirate" without the faintest understanding of what that usually means. He's a hero who accidentally allied himself with cutthroats. Nick is the same kind of thing, with the same insistence on believing in others and protecting your friends. Nick never actually incriminated Engarde at all. Not until the very, very end when de Killer learned of Engarde's betrayal. Nick stalled the trial, incriminated innocent people and actually pulled some pretty bullshit tactics in an effort to make sure the trial didn't end prematurely. Of course, he was in a tight spot since a fucking assassin was holding Maya hostage, so there wasn't much he could do. But Nick never incriminated Engarde for the bulk of the trial.

Only at the very, very end, when Engarde's guilty was clearly established, does the option to incriminate him pop up. By then, though, Maya was free so Nick really had no reason to keep up that bullshit charade any longer anyway. That entire trial was a sham to begin with.

I actually think it will get localized, now that SoJ is out, provided SoJ sells well enough.
