Oh! Dear God, no!

Isn't the mage's grave in the conjurtorium supposed to give you gigaslash/gash at some point? Because I just exposed the almighty for who he really is and am wondering just when exactly the grave gives it to me.

I just got this Aishe bitch

It feels like she is just a Maribel holdout until she gets back

Is she gonna stay in the party or leave once Maribel returns

Should I even bother giving her a job class ?

How much longer until I get my spells back? I'm about to go back into the cave with Eustace.

I just got present day L'Arca

How do I get to the rich dude's house on the lake?

She is Kiefer's replacement, not Maribel.
She is gonna be there for the rest of the game, Mervyn leaves soon for a while too.

Having fun so far.

>Finally get Maribel to top level Sage
>Finally get Mervyn to top level battle mage
>They leave

Idk what to do with Ruff, he is a pirate now but I dont think that advances to any higher classes , maybe I will just give him monster classes

Working on making the Hero into a Champion

I feel bad. People keep saying the game gets really hard after AllTrades, but I'm still coasting by without anyone dying. Probably because I keep stopping to level classes. Or because I've just gotten good at DQ games.

The game feels a lot easier than the PS1 version.

why did they make characters leave the party so often? is 8 as bad with this as 7?

...

That shit lasts for like 3-5 hours, its the longest island quest for a quite awhile

There is a pretty big spike in enemy damage after Alltrades. Plus you start running into shit like bosses and normal enemies getting two moves per turn and breath attacks.

I dont know but I am giving up on jobs cause of this shit , I am just having everyone quit their vocations , fuck it if I lose someone every few hours

Yeah, I'm about 4 islands after AllTrades and noticed the difficulty spike. It just hasn't slowed me down yet.

Just got Mervyn and finished Nottagen, off to the Hubble conjuratorium now. How far in am I?
I don't want this game to end.

Yeah, it didn't slow me down much either, but then again once you figure out that Knuckle Sandwich is fucking amazing it pretty much solves any problems you might have for the rest of the game. When in doubt, punch harder.

>why did they make characters leave the party so often?
No one knows. Since the other story focused DQ games gave you a wagon and characters didn't leave.

>is 8 as bad with this as 7?
You only get 4 party members and they never leave (except one for about a half hour). You also get a wagon, though you don't need it.

>though you don't need it.
Well, it's what lets Trode tag along for party chat on the world map I suppose.

...

Awhile, you are right about to lose Maribel though, start job grinding to get ready for that, and unequip her shit after you save Hubble

>get to the last island
>there's finally weapons for sale that are better than those found in the casino

>This dungeon inside the cube the sky people live on

>Resetting for Casino wins
>When you can easily just tame 3 gemslimes and have a gold farm dungeon
Plebs

>Sold out at my local Gamestop
Damn, I was going to spend my paycheck on a 3DS and this game on Thursday.

Whens the earliest you can get Mervyn? I just finished the El Ciclo storyline.

As soon as you get the Flying Carpet

I did one more island before I realized I could've had him earlier

One more island then you can recruit him

And the horse pri- I mean, just a totally normal horse that doesn't factor into the story at all!

>grinding to recruit Metal Slimes

This is horrible.

Is there a point to these travelers tablets?

put those jerks to sleep

>Urnexpected
>Scarewell
why? just having to deal with Cannibox was annoying enough

Where do you find gemslimes?

It means nothing if they run away before Maribel or Ruff can put them to sleep.

You forgot about Hexicons
And Scarecases

outside Grondal once you get to endgame

It's basically slime heaven: slimes, bubble slimes, healslimes, kingslimes, king cureslimes, metal slimes, liquid metal slimes, metal king slimes, and gem slimes are all there

Should I not bother right now then? I just broke the hourglass.

By using flying carpet. You get it way much later in the story.

Is it better off aiming for Hero or Godhand for MC and Ruff?

that reminds me of that remake trailer

youtube.com/watch?v=pS6qmw-qli8

>finally recruited a single Metal Slime
>everyone leveled up

I done did it.

I made the MC Godhand and Ruff a Monster Masher
Melvin's gonna be my hero

There's not enough games where literally everything is a mimic and I hate it.

What's the best weapon you can get for Maribel after she comes back? Right now I've just got her hanging onto a Watermaul Wand, which is doing pretty pathetic damage even for her.

Holy shit, i liked the biological parents twist.

>"[male character] used Puff-Puff!"
>"Slime is disgusted!"

So what is the Sacred Stone for anyways? I figured the Wind Spirit would be inside it or something like Mervyn was in the Scorching Stone.

Animal magnetism, got it in less then ten tries.

good luck with liquids and kings

it's not hard at all and finally having access to classes makes it even easier once you unlock intermediate classes.
It's not a bad thing though, it's not really a challenging game, it's more like a very long fable

>I keep stopping to level classes
That.
Most people who said (or complained) that the game was too easy were grinding their classes like crazy, abusing that slime tablet method. In this game, skills are all that matter. I didn't grind my classes except priest for buff and zing, and when I fought tough bosses, I could feel the difficulty, and followed by one or two members of my party died. But once I've acquired classes that have good skills (like multiheal, kabuff, thin air), it became much more easier. Now imagine if you grind so much you get oomph/multiheal/knuckle sandwich/sword dance as soon as you can change vocation. No wonder it'll become unchallenging.

what are the good monster classes besides healslime

Well, you also couldn't do all that early grinding on the PS1 game. You had to keep rushing through the story to keep ahead of the level cap. This remake seems to have lowered the level cap. So even if you don't abuse monster tablets, you can still get ahead.

Take it to the shrine east of faraday.

Is there a list of level caps?

Jawtoise class gives Oomph

That turtle in the dungeon you fight gracos is pretty good. Give them to ruff, heal slime gives multiheal as a permanent ability so consider that.

Is there a point to going to the desert area after you finish Vogograd? I thought something might be new but its the same as if i went to the desert tablet directly as far as i can tell

Prism Peacock gives Scorch permanently if you aren't planning on making Ruff a Hero

Are there even any monster classes worth levelling? The only good ones seem to be endgame.

Doesn't seem like it. You can tame some monsters if you didn't have Monster Masher before

He already brought up healslime y'know

Is it worth buying a sleep stick for snooze functionality, in the alltrades section? Also I think that was the biggest rusing I've ever been dealt.

Not that I've seen so far. If any game in the series needed a strategy guide, its this one. So dumb it didn't get one in the west.

There's no need to create a strategy guide for regions that has no fanbase.

>reopen 3DS after taking break
>was slot grinding
>Well done! You just won 33000 tokens

welp

>have to update to download tablets
Fuck

>game sold out in less than a week
>no fans

Is VII the easiest DQ game? Felt like there's too much exploit

I just got Ruff. Little dude is cool as fuck.

Weird question but does there exist a guide for how many battles are required to master a class? I could find info for the PS1 version but I'm guessing this might be different for the remakes.

Install a9lh

Should I kill Stripes or Rashers first?

Anyone?

The PS1 game was the hardest game of the series tied with DQII. This one has just been rebalanced and has tons of extra side content to grind on.

Always Stripes

She looks like she wants some Hero Toblerone

does maribel want the mc's d

>You also get a wagon, though you don't need it.
I think you forgot that without that wagon you don't have access to the Alchemy Pot.

>Finally get the option to ditch AIshe
Thank fuck

dq7.org/
This is the best site I found, it's in japanese but it's easy enough to figure out.

Is it now? I downloaded them last week without having to update to 11.1. I was at 11.0.

Does anyone like Aishe?

What game should I start this series with?

You can start anywhere but II really.
IV, V, or VIII are good choices. III is also good . You can blast through the first game in an afternoon if you want but it's pretty simple and mostly just grinding so you don't get assraped as soon as you walk across the next bridge.

Thanks, really appreciate it.

They could have made the alchemy pot without a wagon. It was a good plot device and I'm glad DQVIII has a wagon. But it just points out how DQVII could have done the same thing.

>The nightgown costs 500k fucking tokens
I swear to god this had better still be an actual costume change for Maribel

It won't be

Thanks, man. Are there remakes of some of the earlier ones that I should play over the original release?

You guys think that old lady that's into DQ is enjoying this one?

>tfw you find a tablet with the gold flying ball smiles

so much gold per battle

For III play the SNES version, there's a fan translated rom floating around
IV and V have remakes on the DS. V also has a PS2 remake if you want better grafix, but it's got a bit less less content since it was earlier than the DS version.
VIII is on the PS2, so you could emulate that, and has a 3DS port with some extra shit that should be out in America in a few months.

Most of em also have phone ports if you really want but I fucking hate playing on mobile so I refuse to recommend those on principle.

She died.

I suppose going and making myself a Gem Slime tablet would probably be more reliable, but I'm gonna try for a bit to get another big jackpot. I got 5 melons on the 100 coin machine in the second casino so that gave me an easy 300k. I've still got 100k left from that so I'm hoping I can win it big again.

Yeah, fuck playing games on mobile phones. Thanks for the info.

How much god per battle? Is it better than the tablet from dlc?

She comes too late and isn't as interesting as a character or concept. The other four are unique in terms of jrpg heroes so they become quite memorable, aishe is just kinda there.

The fucking dog just got poisoned.

Oh god.

Rocky and Wiggles noble sacrifice shall never be forgotten

Rip in peace friends

it's something like 3000 per slime

they should've just let Kiefer gain MP and let him be a permanent party member.

so question any of you play heroes 2, I actually liked it a lot and was hoping they just added more monsters and did not cut any

She sadly died a little bit before Dragon Quest VI (DS) finally released outside Japan.

It would still take like 3000 Gem Slimes to straight up buy enough tokens for the nightie

So I just arrived at an island with some tents, in the middle of a ritual, right after the Callaway arc island. Jobs when?

Next island I think.

I personally don't understand why it got rereleased. I bought it for PS1 and have played it every day since release and I still haven't beaten it.

I really don't understand why Kiefer leaves either. His reason for leaving feelsso sudden from a story perspective and from a gameplay perspective his leave could have been avoided, just make areas like dharma tougher. I wouldwould've been fine with those five as a party, maybe a sixth goofier partner. Perhaps they could've done something similar to the jesters in III, they would goof off occasionally but master classes faster.

All these Dragon Quest threads make me happy

Because it would have been the only Dragon Quest not remade outside of VIII at the time. It was also in DIRE need of a remake.

>Glorious Automaton Army led by Slaughtamaton Ruff

>PRAISE BE TO THE ROBOFUHRER

Totally worth ti grinding out that automaton tablet for 4 hearts. Now i can easily get Esterk

>I bought it for PS1 and have played it every day since release and I still haven't beaten it.

It just keeps going. It just keeps fucking going. I'm nearing 40 hours and I don't even have all the party members. The bad guy hasn't even shown up. How did they make this game?

>use my only Yggdrasil Leaf on Ruff in the Stripes and Rashers fight
>Hero dies just before I beat them
>now I have to get out of the prison with only Ruff and Maribel
fuck me

Where can you find Rotten Eggs? I want to recruit one to the meadow. I can't remember where they spawn.

they thought they wanted to make a 200+ episode shonen animu

The original game had a bare bones engine that looked worse than a SNES game. And instead put everything into story. And had a 3 year development time.

wetlock I think

How many times do you need to use animal magnetism to guarantee recruitment?
Also do you need to kill the monster with the person who magnetised them or will anyone do?

Ten times guarentees they will ask, the first nine times increase the chance more and more.

Anyone can kill the monster.

Yeah I'm not having much luck on the slots tonight

Guess I'll see if the flip game has anything new in it now that I've got my Haven completed

>you have to use the blue teleporter in the Shrine of Mysteries to get the Prism Dew
Based on the other three, I thought they all just led to some sort of shortcut. Also I remember the doors being locked so I didn't bother with all of them. That's pretty stupid honestly

I checked out the teleporter way earlier so I already had the dew

Anyone know the stat caps?

>game crashes when placing tablets
>lost 3 or 4 hours of progress

I think I'm done playing this game.

What are some good monsters to recruit besides jawtoises? Also I'm gonna make a tablet with them, what else should go in it

Also where is the memory dlc? I didn't see anything like that from the bar downloads in haven

Serves you right for being a pirate.

>finally found a new shield for Ruff
HALLELUJAH! It even has bonus effects

I'm not a pirate. The game crashed on my 3ds

I believe you can get metal slime hearts, may be wrong though. If you can I imagine they're incredibly useful.

I've sent several monsters to Monster Meadows now but when I go there, they aren't there. I'm not sure what I've done wrong. Do I just need to get farther in the game? I"m at the island with the large tree.

You need to save the island Monster Meadows is on

Clawcerer's drop phials or magic water so their good for farming with thief's

I've mastered a couple monster classes. Slime, Kingfuchia, Walking Corpse Berserker and Serial Quiller

Slime was a complete waste of time.

The Kingfuschia was also a waste aside from getting a sleep breath attack

Walking corpse has poison breath death dance and a few others. pretty neat

Berserker has Flame Slash, Gust Slash and Multislice which is pretty cool.

Serial Quiller offered Sizz, an ability that blinds all enemies and Lightning

pretty bleh so far. im betting the Lips heart won't offer much.

Master Golem on the person who master serial quiller.

Then they can become an automaton. After automaton master rashaverak the purple dragons near **herbs present**

Then you can become a slaughtamton and if you master drak slime after slaughtamaton you can become a Esterk

Mandatory healslime for Multiheal

Sleep Breath is redundant when Counting Sheep exists

exactly.

the only other skills Kingfuschia offered was Heal and Soothing song

Getting 500k tokens actually shouldn't be too bad.
With some mild savescumming I've worked my way up from 110k to 250k in the past hour or so.

What's the point of befriending monsters.

Should I use animal magnetism every turn? It's slowing my kill speed and I'm not really getting the benefit of doing it.

What level should I be when I unlock jobs?

Also who are the permanent party members? Nothing pisses me off more than investing time and resources into temporary party members.

>what luck a pointy hat

I never recruited one, where were they again?

For now I made a jawtoises, slime knight and metal slime knight and it sometimes spawns other stuff too

>50 hours into the game
>What luck! A pot lid!

>What luck! Horse manure!

>Can't even throw it at enemies to stun them
>Haven't bothered selling it because 1g isn't even worth the amount of time it would take to mash through the text

they go to the monster meadows and you make tablets with them in it

>game plays a jingle everytime you find a pilchard pie or meat or pilchard crackers even though these items are worthless and a dime a dozen in tablets

So whats the quickest way to get tokens in the casino?

NTR cheat plugin.

look for the one's with two row's of "7"s user

Hit the sluts nigger

fighting monsters inside the tablets, bosses give seeds and sometimes weapons and armor

>enemy spawns on top of a flight of stairs just before I step on them

I still laugh every time I get one. The "What luck!" gets me every time.

so what's the deal with this game? is it an rpg?

When the fuck do I get to do something besides attack and cast Bang?

For reference I just saved the world from robots.

you can go get a necklace for the queen but it didnt really do anything

>Idk what to do with Ruff
Turn his wolf into a flamethrower.

Is Blade of Ultimate Power/Ultrahit scaled by oomph?

Also, is it scaled by muster/focus strength?

Pointy Hat is the most annoying one. Even though I get far more manure.

cast heal

>You also get a wagon, though you don't need it.

But then you'd never hear the clop clop while travelling

shes so much better than maribel though.

>reach bottom of Robo-mine
>three fights in a row
>die

>come back
>jump straight to the last one, fucking casual game piece of shit
>guy starts spamming 50~ damage double attacks almost at the start

I have become exactly what I hated.

t. Kiefer

FUCK
I SAVED THE PRIESTESS
I'M BACK IN PILGRIM'S PERDITION
HOW MUCH LONGER UNTIL I GET MY SPELLS BACK
HOW MUCH LONGER UNTIL I GET VOCATIONS

Nice joke.

>353053190
My 3ds isn't hacked because it isn't a dead system yet.

From those that have played it, which version of VIII is the superior one, PS2 or 3DS?

well which one is that?

Is there a trick to the casino slots or is it all luck? I cannot for the life of me line up 5 of anything.

The assets took up basically no space because it was cheap as fuck budget wise. You'd be amazed how much room that frees up for text.

You can see which one it is when you first look at a machine

Savescum the slots. You don't need to get a row of all 5

And that is relevant how? You were asking what's the quickest way.

I got 5 of the bells on the 10 tokens slot

Which chests can be opened with the magic key?
How do I open jail cells like the one under Estard?

I'm using the 100 token slots and neither of them do

Because what you said isn't relevant to me

3DS has new content and some needed gameplay changes (like being able to change your skill point distribution), but graphically it looks a lot worse and the US version is going back to the original soundtrack.

If magic key doesn't do it then you wait for final key

The 100 token ones don't have two rows of 7s. Once you have more than like 20k tokens though they're still faster than the 10 coin slots.

A few minutes after I make this post I line up five bells. Of course.

Why is there so much cucking in this game?

Is there a maximum number of traveler's tablets you can get?
If so what would you recommend keeping/tossing?

>every time you stop, Medea neighs
>makes you feel like you're toying with her after a while

One dungeon

...

both are great but the 3ds version has the original midi sound-chip

>MIDI
nottagen

No one has used midi since the mid-90s.

here use this for future reference

I just said I already have my haven completed though

I guess that's handy for anyone who doesn't though

holy fuck
where do I go after saving the high priestess? I've gone back and forth between Pilgrim's Perdition and Precipice Pass at least 5 times now. I would have assumed I'd just have to go to the Tunnel to the Abbey, but the fucking door is still closed.

Have you tried checking the house the High Priestess said she was going to?

Why are the npc names the ps1 names but the rest 3ds?

>Mercury's Bandana gives a great defense boost and is less than 1000g per

There's got to be a catch.

>defense boost
It's agility.

>Defense

Oh shit, I didn't even look, I just saw a gigantic hike. Guess I'll buy one for Ruff.

>finally get Hero class for my hero, around when you get Mervyn
>all those slashes, sword dance, thin air, zap spells, omniheal
Fuck did I just break the game? Serious I have monster masher for Ruff and druid fir Maribel and thought those were powerful classes but this shit is insane.

Shame literally no art other then one piece of official art exists for him in the hero costume, he looks really cool in it.

>grinds out the best class in the game early
>did i break the game?
yes you did faggot. you should probably reset the game.

Nigga how hard did you grind? I didn't get Hero until just after the Disc 1 last boss

Cumulus vex is destroying my soul. I had a much easier time with Gracos than this bastard

Fug I didn't mean to grind this hard, I feel kind of bad. I'm think if I'm too oveepowered I'll switch jobs to another intermediate class I didn't master.

>I didnt mean to fight 800 battles

Jesus, around when I got Mervyn all my characters just about transitioned to their first intermediate classes

>Ruff turns to dragon with Puff! move
>casually walks up to Gracos and slaps him in the face for 155 damage

So its telling me there is a tablet in present day buccanham and a certain someone knows where it is, but no one in town or at the dwarves town tells me shit. I l know it's in the church building

also what do i do with tombola tickets?

It's such a good move. It was always my go-to move in III on Baramos

I haven't really been having difficulty either except for a flubbed boss battle ocassionally, but that's only happened three times in 36 hours so far

>So its telling me there is a tablet in present day buccanham and a certain someone knows where it is, but no one in town or at the dwarves town tells me shit. I l know it's in the church building
check the altar

>also what do i do with tombola tickets?
once you finish the monster town, there will be a tent with the tombola machine in it

cumulus vex kicked my shit in so many times before i grinded out multi heal that shit is impossible without it

and there's just no conclusion? The town dries up because that lady is an evil cunt? Hated that I couldn't get Dill involved but fuck him anyway.

I was using buff on maribel and noticed his defense was more than doubled, holy fuck

is maribel still on the team by then? I may have fucked up a bit by giving healslime to her

I barely could get by the genie without multiheal. I think I might have to get that or Hustle before too long...

it's after
comulus vex uses thin air and does about 100-120 to everyone, and the people he summons can put characters to sleep and thin air doesnt wake them

Only problem with Puff is you lose control of the character for like 5 turns if you needed emergency heals or revives

How is VII compared to IX? As reference loved the heck out of IX and managed to clock +200 hours of playtime.

better

How do you level up your monsters? Doing the dungeon just gives me items.

Cred Forums help I'm stuck. I have the flying carpet, I've gotten some clues about the truth behind Pike's ball, and I heard that he went off with Borgio. I've been to all three of Borgio's houses and he isn't at any of them.

What do?

Better story and characters. Also arguably better class system.

>much needed healing spell bounces off
>ruff is killed

man IX spoiled me so much

they dont level up?

hes in the one thats across from the excavation site

You have to go to the main BOrgio mansion and talk to the maid, who says he's gone to Grotten or El whatever. Then you visit his other two houses and talk to NPCs until they direct you back to his main mansion. Its annoying, but its about triggering events in a specific order.

>played DQ monsters recently
>a good chunk of the monsters in it are actually from 7

Guys how do I get more monsters for the haven? I've been sending a bunch to the meadow but all I have is Phlegmrique. SOS I need the download bar before the DLC is gone.

These threads are so much better than the DQ ones on /vr/

A lot are from VI, too

remake autist killed those threads

talk to phlegmrique, he'll hint toward another traveller, who will hint toward another, and so on

monster scouting is for later on

Better main story. Better mini story per towns on average, but IX still has one or two greatest mini story ever. Better graphic (duh). Static battle scene compared to IX's dynamic camera, although that makes the battle faster. Worse class system although not by much.

talk to phlegmrique and he will tell you where the reformed monster is, then go back and talk to that monster and they will tell you where another one, and just repeat that

Have you tried actually talking to NPCs at each location?

It's the other way around. Many new monsters were added to the remake version of VII. The original game didn't have monsters as varied as this.

45 hours in so far, when does it get harder?

No they don't. I just talked to the guy in the meadow who you can make the tablets with. If you share the tablet then the leader of said tablet levels up. This is gonna be annoying.

Hour 46.

Sharing the tablet online counts

I just opened a barrel and a small red square popped out and now I have a nothing in my bag. Somehow I got a dummy item.

Where are you at 45 hours in? If you haven't already beaten the Demon King, you've spent too much grinding and thus cheated yourself out of a harder game.

Can you use flying carpet in the past world?

Nope.

nope

I had to talk to an old man in a casion then go up the beacon

dont grind so much
im 53 hours in and havent been grinding but i tlak to everyone and break everything

Only grinding I did was to get Merv and Aishe caught up a bit and I got to the Demon King at 70 hours. That's counting a lot of fucking about in the Casino though.

I did the math, and to afford 4 meteorite bracers, 4 metal king helms, 1 metal king armor, and 1 mercury rapier, I need to kill 2000 gem slimes.
At least I can get some class grinding in.

happy grinding

Move to /vg/

eat a dick, everytime i new game comes out there are lots of threads for it. just hide it faggot

It's a 80+ hour game that just came out less than two weeks ago, fuck off

but why?

I'm just doing the slots
100k to go for the slutty nightgown

Make a successful DQ thread on /vg/ and I'll go there.

Are there any missables in this game?

some of the minimedals are

How much has VII sold so far outside of Japan?

We don't know, other than it seems to be sold out in most places.

That could mean that Squeenix was a bunch of cunts who didn't print many copies again though

>florin turns out to be a total bro who devotes his life to fighting monsters and making sure his skills are passed down to future generations
>kiefer turns out to be a total dick who devotes his life to gypsy pussy

Florin got a statue at least, Kiefer doesn't have shit and no one in the present even remembers his name except the sister and father he abandoned

And nobody knows how Aisha existed as if she was there before.

I just got the chick at the casino for monster meadow. When do I get to find my own tablets?

It's on one of the last islands you unfuck

are you fucking serious? how to grind after i get too high level for jobs then? im at zepling tablet now

don't grind?

you don't need to grind to beat the game

its fun to get jobs unlocked

>Want to discuss the game
>Scroll the thread like an idiot because I want to avoid spoilers
Fuck, I hate this. By the time I'll finish the game, these threads will probably be dead.

Where do I find healslimes?

Or at least what is the 3DS versions name of Krage?

Grondal

Fuck him. I thought he was a bro. I thought he wanted to go on Adventures and save the world with us.
But no. As usual, girls are more important than friends. Everytime he asked me to stay alone with Lala or if I understood his reasons to stay there, I always answered "no".

Fuck you, Kief. I thought we were friends.

Cheers

OKAY. JOBS ARE GO.

What's my order of operations here? And is it worth munching hearts and levelling those, or should I bother with monster classes later on? I don't think I have picked up any decent ones, really.

Another question: should you save seeds for stat pumping till later in the game, in em the game checks your stat curves on level ups?

Get some healing spells for Ruff, start working on Sage for Marybel and do what you want with the hero

I used almost every single seed on the Hero. He's a roided out monster killing machine now.

And it didn't really affect his stat gains at levels? A bunch of anons were saying using seeds slows your gains a few threads/days ago

I'm 90% sure stat gains per level are set in stone, aren't they? If you go overboard you might hit the 255 cap on atats or something.

They are set in stone.

So the basic slime tablet for job levelling? Or am I misunderstanding that and I need to make my own tablet from actual slimes I've recruited or something. I'm only level 16-17, but that's already high.

I maxed sage on maribel, should i go for druid now?

Most make her healslime first so she can learn multiheal (which druid doesn't have)

Final Boss defeated. Now let's see the postgame dungeon

>present Volvograd

HOLY FUCKING SHIT ALL MY RAGE

I'm stuck in the likeness dungeon while trying to resurrect the 4 spirits. Where do I find the ears and mouth stones?

>Buccanham's curse

Easily the biggest prank the Demon King had pulled so far.

Break the heart stone to get the Ears and wait 10 seconds before the statue to get the Mouth

Where is the best red slot machine?

>Rucker Empire being mentioned in two other tablets

Guess they really were influential.

Pretty big let down when you actually meet them though after all the hype

But you meet them before all the hype.

>when he fucking smashed the stone piece and the Hero just fucking lets him do it

>human x dwarf marriage
>the female is the dwarf

Is this pedophilia?

in case you're still struggling
mouth --> stand infront of the monster mouth till it opens from itself
ears --> use the heart in your inventory to split it

Maribel should've been there.

Yes, thay dwarf is preying on that poor human he's much too young for her.

I was thinking the same fucking thing user. She would've tore the Hero a new one. This the exact shit she always talks about. He just lets people walk all over him. Maribel the the girl the Hero needs but doesn't deserve.

hey guys just wondering you don't have to answer me but do you think I should get this game?

>male dwarf waiting for human king to die so he can swoop in and bang the queen

>Maribel the the girl
Maribel is the girl*

Yes.

What's all those Meaty Juices for?

How exactly do you level up monsters?

okay sure

Streetpass/spotpass

>only streetpassed one person in five years
Welp.

was that me?

Not that I'm aware of. I do know all download tablet dungeons are uncapped and after the bad times way later it's uncapped everywhere. I'll put it this way. I could comfortably level up Ruff's vocations outside tablet dungeons until Mervyn joined since I had to catch him up.

>Keeping Maribel

Mervyn is the far better caster and Aishe is just girl Kiefer.

Did you have to talk to someone at the beacon? I've talked to everyone in Buccanham, went to the beacon but I still can't get that that shard.

Gem slimes drop 3000 per a single one. So from 3000 to 9000. I don't think more than 3 show up in a battle.

>Mervyn is the far better caster

He's slow as fuck.

Is it worth putting seeds on to maribel/keef?

Like, do the stats get transferred over to their replacements? Wondering if I'm dealing with Legend if Dragoon rules here

basic slime tablet has a cap of lvl 19, just use that until you go over the limit, then use whatever you like most since the limits are quite generous anyway

Is there any real point to the monster vocations save for dumb resistances from metal king? Didn't really get any good hearts until near the first Orgodemir battle.

I've got a question, is the 30 battle penalty still in the 3ds version of the game? Can't seem to find any answers.

>Also arguably better class system.
didn't 9 have more jobs?
I kinda remember having to level up jobs just to get skill point to spend on other jobs but I may be wrong, it has been so many years.

The what now?

>Tfw no art of Maribel getting cucked by Keifer fucking hero in the ass while she watches

Hybrid Skills were removed. If you're looking for Sword Dance it's on Pirate and Hero.

If you changed classes in the psx version before you finished mastering the class you got a penalty. For example, if you needed 20 more battles to master the class you'd have to fight 50 battles now because you chose to change the class midway.

Just wanted to know if I should first finish mastering the class or change it now to get that sweet multiheal and then finish the class later.

If you grinded out vocations then never. You should know that by now.

Please fuck off. If you want DQ porn then just go to exhentai.

How about you and your sensitive ass fuck off?

Oh. No, they removed the whole thing as far as I know. Was said in an interview forever ago that they removed the restriction so players could have more fun trying out vocations.

>Is it worth putting seeds on to maribel/keef?
"No"

Cool, thanks for the answer. I don't want to put off getting multi heal because the hero is only just beginning his first advanced job and that is going to take a while to master.

The thing is that now anything over basic vocations doesn't have inheritable skills. I think it was to get people to try monster classes but the 3 advanced vocations have all the skills worth a damn anyway. Multiheal on Champion and Hero, Insulatle on Hero and Druid, Hustle Dance on Druid, Sword Dance on Hero, and Ultra Hit (now called something ridiculous) on champion.

>Ultra Hit (now called something ridiculous)
Blade of Ultimate Power

Yeah that's the one. Hero also gets a few of the advanced offensive spells while Druid gets them all. Both get Big Banga.

I wish they kept the name Gigasword from DQ4. Once you got the hero to level 50 they learned it. It was basically the same thing as Ultrahit/Blade of Ultimate Power.

Where can you get the Prism Dew for the beacon on the island?

blue portal in the Shrine of Mysteries

Ok, thanks user.

No problem. You can actually get access to that place super early.

What are those portals for user?

I'm just past Alltrades and I've never even gone into those rooms, they were locked from the start and nothing ever told me otherwise.

What do they do?

the other three are just shortcuts to other places iirc.

God kicked my ass. I'm gonna grind jobs and level now.

DQMJ3 when?

This game is so slow and I've honestly been really bored with it because I major factor in my purchase was the tablet system

Just beat El Ciclo and discovered that it's right next to Greenthumb Gardens, how much longer until I get the Meadows and can start doing random tablets?

G.U. gobbos were cool.

Just got to the part where you control Mervyn solo. I'm so glad I made him a Hero.

just got it and I'm about 2 hours into it, so how long until the actual game starts?

You are almost there

the basic class are way too underwhelming, losing all my advanced (read: multi heal, oomph, kabuff and thin air) spell is such a drag.
Right now I only use intermediate classes when I'm advancing the plot and everytime I finish an island I go back to the haven to grind another basic class so I can finally reach hero/druid with everyone.

Pirate and monster tamer are so good though.

Is a good idea maxing Pirate for everyone so they get the Speed bonus?

What's a good path to take Ruff down? I didn't want him and the Hero to be carbon copies so he's not going to be a Gladiator for a while.

is Monster Masher any good?

they're kind of pointless because you have zoom, So there's no point in the first 2 I've seen so far because they're within 10 seconds of Emberdale and the Temple Palace.

Monster masher is so good you wont want to change off of it and lose the skills.

>can't put gem slime in a barn

REEEEEEEEEEEE

Is hate mail and massacre sword worth it?

Wow, did not see the twist at the end of Bucchaham coming.

>bought the expensive as fuck Dragonsbane
>right after that I got the legendary sword for free
>no one else could equip the damn thing

Fug.

Welp, found a typo. Soldier to solider. For such a text-heavy, long game, it's rather impressive there's only one typo thus far.

yes

Finally got a Jawtoise Heart.

I dunno if I should grind for permanent Oomph or not. Is that the only worthwhile skill in that monster class?

What's Meaty Treat for?

I dont think klepto clobber actualy works.

Yes you can, I've already done it and made a tablet out of them. If you get shared "The Famous Circular Cave" that's me.

>fragment in casino

Fug, is it really a casino reward?

I got lucky and got mine on my way to gracos.

dq7.org/dq7_jobm3.html

I have no idea how the Japanese names translate into English.

Where's the other fragment that is not in the casino on Buckingham? It should be in the Church but I can't find it..

Talk to the old man in the casino who said he saw someone win a fragment. Talk to the mayor-looking guy in the underpass who will say he sold it to the armorer who begged to buy it. The armorer's wife will say he went to climb the beacon. The armorer will say he was bullied into buying it and gave it to the priest for free because he liked it. The nun will say the priest has been reaching beneath the altar randomly. Examine the altar.

Ok, thanks user.

so this is my first DQ7 game
I am playing it with the orchestrated music, not the MIDI
and holy shit. I am only an hour into the game but this music is fucking mindblowing somehow, I can't remember the last time the music in a game had this effect on me it's amazing.
Do all the DQ have music this good?
Also is it worth getting DQ8 on 3DS instead of playing it in HD on an emulator? The 3DS version got extra content right?

meant to say this is my first DQ game...

Have faith in the children. That's the message you need to hold fast to.

Though personally, I'd like to go back there in 20 years and see if the kids have fixed everything. If not, BURN IT ALL TO THE GROUND. NO SURVIVORS

Are you saying you can't read it? If so it should have a option for you to translate the page, every computor has that.

The name of the spells and abilities don't match with the English names.

are you trying to say you don't know what Scala, Sukuruto and Baikiruto are?
for shame

fuck off newfag

>You can't teleport to the Alltrades Abbey or Haven from the Shrine of Mystery

Nope

Takes like a few minutes to search them up.

Yes you can.
Are are you one of those retards that don't know you can only use zoom outside.

Why is her dress so poofy?

i meant using those teleportals from the inside the building. that might make it a bit faster but ah well.

well, I don't actually know either
but I searched for them here
dragon-quest.org/wiki/Spell_List
and
dragon-quest.org/wiki/Ability_List

スカラ Sukara --> Upper --> Buff
スクルト Sukuruto --> Increase --> Kabuff
バイキルト Baikiruto --> Oomph
たいあたり --> Body Slam
ムーンサルト --> Harvest Moon

Mervyn looks pretty good as a Thief

You can do those 3 in any order. You could see fucked up rucker first, see the amnesiac priest and statue first or see monster priest being abused first

9 only had 12 jobs

Only played 1, 2 and half of 3. Does this game fuck with the original PS1 version as in pacing, theme or characters?

I saw there was some fairy that followed you around, is this from the OG game? I kind of shy away from annoying "helper" npcs.

The fairy just sits around in the shrine and is impressively useless

Anyone have more Jessica cards or official artwork?

The original PS1 version had a lot of padding, most of it was cut. Honestly people feels this makes the game move faster. Still long as fuck.

The fairy guy doesn't follow you either. He stays at the shrine of mysteries and simply acts as your access to the pillars. He's minor as fuck, not even given a name as far as I know.

too bad it has like 4 songs that get very old after the first 30 hours of gameplay.
Final Fantasy had way over the hundred but whatever.

From what I know the 3ds remake has some extra feature (but kinda crappier graphic, especially when compared to emulating on a good computer).

No, have a better girl.

never stole anything for me either

Whats the point of the barns? Also why isnt my monster place building new habitats? I dropped off like 5 plans yesterday and still only have 2

they cut the very first temple puzzle so you can start the actual game about 1 hour early than the ps version.
Other than that it's pretty much a complete overhaul of the original.

Do the character models in Dragon quest heroes look off to anyone else?

I'm at the first casino playing at the machine with 2 rows rof 7s.

It says a roll costs 10gold, i can put in 30 to enable all 3 rows i think.

Now after that i can fill up the coulored lines with more coins, so it takes 90 per roll, but the reward is still 30xmultiplier.

What does sticking in the additional coins do for me?

>plan to turn Aishe into an Armamentalist
>she only comes with Dancer maxed

Thanks for nothing, bitch. Guess I shouldn't expect more from someone of Kiefer's traitorous lineage.

Ah, I see.

It's the new artstyle they're going with for Next gen. DQ Heroes is just the first place it's been used. DQXI uses the same style as well

Barns allow you to tame more than one monster from a specific monster species. That way, you can send out a trio of the same monsters tablet hunting and you'll end up with a tablet where only that monster can show up. Basically, it can lead to much easier farming

>but the reward is still 30xmultiplier
The reward should've changed to 90 * multiplier. Each additional coin in each row increases the multiplier for that row

Ah, so good for metals and such

It's also really good for getting specific hearts

Some testing has shown this isn't exactly the case.

You get 4th and 5th monsters based on the leader of the tablet's position in your monster book, and particularly noticeable when you try and send 3 metal kings. The 4th and 5th will instead populate the area.

However, some tests that had the metal mannequin as the lead with the two metals as support did indeed lead to many metal king slimes. This could be however due to the tester not having entries around the metal mannequin(it's a special monster).

just got the magic carpet from the frog town. time to find that old bugger now?

does he come with any jobs maxed?

Nope.

He doesn't even have any progress in any job whatsoever.

Damn, Mervyn looks awesome as a Paladin.

DRAGON QUEST BUILDERS DEMO IS FINALLY OUT!

How long from the first casino to the next better one?

if you find migrant residents not that long. If you dont it takes nearly till the end of the game.

Anyone find lucky panel really addicting? Like unhealthily so? I've got like 10 page and of random gear now but I can't stop the wins feel so good.

iv been trying to get a goddess ring from emperor gem slimes.

Maribel just left to go to her dad, how long until I get her back?

My want to playu the game is fadeing the more now that im at the end of the game i want to try and fin d all the mini medals.

20 hours

How many are hidden in random unmarked tiles on the ground? I'm pretty sure I've gotten every single one in chests, pots, cupboards, etc so far but if I have to go hunt through random ground tiles later I'm dreading trying to finish the collection

Use the checklist on gamefaqs for the ground ones.

Just two that I've seen, one sparkle in a well and one sparkle in a dude's house in an area you can only get to once you have the Skystone.

There's a few others that aren't in barrels, like the Medal Collector's grave and a cat on the pirate ship

There are ones that don't sparkle that you literally have to find by picking "examine" from the menu on the right spot.

just use that one thief ability, Snoop, in EVERY single room in the game if you want all mini medals without relying on guides :^)

After you get the skystone.
What cavern do they mean with "Cavern made by men"?

>Climbing the Beacon for the fifth time

Someone gives you a hint in party chat

He looks better as a Pirate

Anyone have a ability chart to show what abilities have what modifiers to damage?

I've been spamming knuckle sandwich since it seems like my strongest 2 mp ability

I hear that if you have Mervyn master every vocation in the game and then put him back in his default no-vocation state, he has an ability called Taisetsunarius which instakills anything in the game and costs 0 MP.

Anyone have a list with town immigrants with the town names etc updated to the 3ds remake?

Also i read something about getting a different town if i recruit different people, is there a town type that is superior?

Kiefer is gone forever, isn't he?
No post-game guest party member or anything like that?

Post yfw present Vogograd

>Abilities (and spells to an extent) don't really specify how strong they are
>Item menu is pretty clunky
>No feature (that I know of) that tells you where your party and enemy currently stand in terms of buffs/debuffs
>No way of knowing how close you are to mastering your job/levelling up without going to Alltrades/church (I get that it's a "staple", since I've beaten I, II, IV and V)
>No auto-battle to make grinding easier. Have to switch tactics
>Have to backtrack all the way to Alltrades every time you wish to switch jobs

Still have spent 70 hours playing it, though, but damn.

Dragon Quest uses very traditional menus and mechanics, for better and for worse

You also can't organize your in-battle spell and ability list.

Definitely for worse. I really enjoy the series, but maintaining all these obsolete design choices for the sake of being "traditional" is quite ridiculous.

Where's the Pool of Piety?

robot island

Thank you user.

many spells and abilities are also redundant.
the menu in this game are truly awful, most times in "big" battles I'm just lost into the submenu looking for those 2 or 3 skills that I really need.
The other remakes had such pretty remade menu, what the hell were they thinking with this one?
Also why no item icons?

>Also why no item icons?
The item icons are still there in the inventory, just not in stores

It was likely a fuckup since at the casino prize counter you can actually see part of the item images buried behind the other menus

I can complete three different slabs (2 red and 1 green) after getting Melvin, should i go for one specificly?

>No post-game guest party member or anything like that?
Just keep playing user

avoid Hubble, it's definitely the hardest for now
the other two are about the same, I'd say

Yeah but which one is that?

I don't remember
you can still check out the island for now, it's just the boss that's hard, so you can explore the rest of that island, see if you can find some loot/items from stores

Nottagen

It's the opposite. Level caps on the PS1 version were much higher and less restrictive. You could grind in Dharma/Alltrades until about level 24 for example. Leveling of classes was longer there but you also got less experience.
The level caps in the 3ds version are about 3-4 levels lower than those in the PS1 version and you seem to level a lot faster.
You can abuse the tablets to level vocations like crazy in the 3DS version though.

Everyone thinks they are the demon king and theres a girl passed out at Ygg. I don't know what to do here

Does this game ever get tough? I'm currently running around with a level 4 Ruff and he's not even in the slightest bit of danger from enemies or bosses. I'm really hoping the game picks up difficulty once I reach Alltrades Abbey.

I'm confused about these monsters who are friendly and want to live in the city - are there specific places where they appear? Can multiple appear in the same place?

>I'm really hoping the game picks up difficulty once I reach Alltrades Abbey

Nah man, it's really uneventful there. You just get the ability to change vocations and fight a boss shortly after. Pretty easy

the monsters that actually LOOK human are all fixed now
the previous monster that you've encountered should give you a hint towards your next monster

It does get harder after Alltrades but as long as you don't do something dumb like make everyone Priests at the same time you shouldn't have much trouble even without grinding.

Wait but i heard the town develops differently if i get different monster types, how does that work with fixed monsters?

not anymore

Welp ended up in Providence.

Have fun running back and forth through that stupid cave a dozen times because they refuse to let you Evac out
Easily the worst island

My next haven immigrant is a cook in a spa area, i'm guessing emberdale, but i cant find him anywhere.

Any hints?

If I'm not mistaken he's inside the well, which is a spa of sorts.

Only shows up after a certain point

Damn, the music for the Skystone is so good. Reminds me of the flying music in DQ8.

Check the inn, IIRC

But when?

Just progress the story and check back in a few islands

>have al9h or whatever it is called
>can't use download bar cause it needs system update

I deserve it for pirating i guess

3. Ballymolloy - Elder's House 2F (Requires resident #1)
4. Emderdale - Tavern (After Faraday events)

If you're already set up you can update it just fine, retard

I don't have arm9 but just good old luma cfw, can I update too?

What does Dragon Slash even do? It sounds badass, and it looks badass, but it does shit damage against anything I've tried it on.

deal more damage against dragons

Does extra damage to Dragons. Try reading the skill descriptions sometime.

>Finally arrive at alltrade's abbey

I'M SO HYPE, GIMME THOSE JOBS

>Thought that one pirate guy was going to be Fingers after growing up more
>It's just a generic pirate model and there are like 8 of them that look exactly like that

grats :)

>spend 5 minutes thinking about what job to take
>faggot doesnt give me shit but steals all my abilities

WOW

Yeah I was kinda disappointed too
But then I realized it wouldn't make sense for it to be Fingers since the ship was frozen for hundreds of years

Maybe one of em is Fingers' great-great-great-great-great-great-great grandpa or something

I did read the description. It still does less damage to dragons than basic shit like Knuckle Sandwich. Maybe the game should try not having 90% of its skills be useless garbage.

>It still does less damage to dragons than basic shit like Knuckle Sandwich.
It's also free, while Knuckle Sandwich costs 2 MP and is slightly inaccurate
I do agree that Knuckle Sandwich is hilariously strong but plenty of shit has its own uses

How many forms does the final boss have?

well Dragon Slash is a guaranteed *1.5 DMG against Dragons, while Knuckle Sandwich is a 2MP *2 DMG ability with a higher chance of missing

Well Sharkeye set off and got frozen a bit before your Buccanham visit, and it's not clear how the timeline between fragments works, like we know that Regenstein happened before most of the others and El Ciclo happened 30 years after your first visit to Greenthumb, so it wouldn't be inconceivable for Alltrades to happen 10 or so years before Sharkeye left

Oh right, for some reason I forgot Fingers was in Past Alltrades not Present.

Buccanham would've been one of the last islands before everything really went to shit right? Since Sharkeye sailed off to help in the final battle against the Demon King before being frozen.

4

I just summoned all 4 spirits and revealed the Almighty. I got back on the Sea dragon ship and I can go anywhere. Zoom fails and when I go to steer the ship by talking to the man at the wheel it won't move anywhere. It's stuck in front of the cave where it was frozen. Is this a bug? or am I missing something?

I just solved it. I used zoom where you're in the overworked and fixed it

What pub in Emberdale

I'm in El Ciclo, got the key to the clocktower and now I don't know what the fuck to do, any help lads?

Have you tried unlocking the door in the clocktower?

Oh gee, never thought about that.

Nah but really, yeah. I stopped time but I don't know what to do in it, the prick in the lighthouse? won't talk to me anymore either.

You should've noticed something suspicious in a basement in town earlier. Go there with time stopped.

inspect the rest of town, something might be off there

i forgot where the skull with the golden horns is
someone help

Found it, thanks brah.

Roamer island in the present

Where do I get hearts of monsters that don't drop them? can I get them from beating the boss of a tablet?

thanks, first i telported everywhere and couldn't find it

There's only like 50-ish monster classes out of 300+ monsters user, not all of them give hearts.

>No auto-battle to make grinding easier. Have to switch tactics
Uh, I don't think any other rpg also has this feature. I think you got spoiled by Bravely Default.

>never switched so still running rxtools
>accidentally update
>everything is still working fine
t-thanks.

>can't use download bar cause it needs system update
Have you tried it? I was in 11.0 when I downloaded them and didn't get notification to update.

Play Mario 64 in one of the houses.

>can't tell Lysalot to fuck off

Pls, game.

Yeah i tried, i'm at 10.something though

Yeah it's a recent thing, didn't start bugging me until a day or two ago.
It's like some intern at Nintendo actually forgot to update the version needed to use online services and just now got around to it.

Didn't mean to quote.

If you use a9lh/luma you can use ctr-httpwn (or something like that, i forgot the name) to bypass update notification. Ask hbg for further details.

>I don't think any other rpg also has this feature

You serious, mate?

>In that dungeon to rescue high priestress
>huge dungeon, super annoying fights since you can only mash A
>get to fight tiger and rhino
>Stripes makes a desperate attack!
>Stripes makes a desperate Attack!
>get wiped without even killing one

Am i seriously supposed to run through all of that again?

Where is the casino near Alltrades? I can't find that shit anywhere
