Why Cred Forums hated this game, again? I thought it was pretty good, my second favorite game in the series

Censorship.
Im neutral, just sayin, it was nothing but censorship posting for that game

>Why Cred Forums hated this game, again?
It's a nintendo game.

did they uncensor it yet?

Nothing against the quality of the game itself, it was the utterly retarded, pointless censorship they pulled and the way they released it that pissed people off.

I liked it, bit it's kinda short.

Great game, totally different than I expected from Project Zero after only playing the second one on the Wii.

Ended up doing a bit of score hunting, didnt see that coming

still mad about the way they released it

i dropped nintendo because of this

Really disappointed probably because i payed good price for the physical edition, i expected some spooky stuff and all i got was Softcore Porn feat Floating Sexy Ghosts with big boobs.

I'd be pretty happy with that purchase, if I were you.

>Why Cred Forums hated this game, again?
Censorship, nobody actually played it.

What's your favorite? Mine's 2.

i bought the EU physical copy because i cant and i refuse buy this digitally

waiting for the wiiu to get region hacked one day so i can play it can be hopeless

Oh man remember when Cred Forums spent like 2 months non stop bitching about censorship in every game?
And all from nintendo.
Censorship is bad but Cred Forums went overboard it was impossible to discuss the games at all

nintendo pretty much destroyed this series did they?
what were they thinking selling it to them

p-pc ?

gee it's almost like if there was no censorship, we would actually be discussing it, shocking, right

2 remake>5>4>2>3>1
Nintendo trully saved series

What the fuck did you expect? The games were out for ages by that time, the only news that would come out would be how NoA was ruining them. Of course that's all that was discussed, anyone actually interested in the game could've looked up any information about it for months.

I just gave up on buying Nintendo games altogether.

See? People are still mad, holy shit.

never-ever until cemu actually works?

I would have bought it if it had a physical release in the US.

5 > 2 Wii edition > 2 > 4 >>> 3 > 1

>shitposting kept me from buying a game

holy shit user

I need the service before I can be the fan

>The games were out for ages by that time
Yeah, and I remember how gg fags ruined all fatal frame threads during japanese release

>Getting cucked out of a game by the japs

Lol

Censorshitters are hilarious

Censorship, handling an M rated game as if it were E10, NoA totally ignoring it.

Yeah, 2 Wii is my favorite too. I know some don't like the RE4-style camera and control-style makeover the series got upon landing on the Wii, but I personally prefer it to the RE1-3 style it originally had.

As for 5, I didn't find it scary but I loved how big it is and how the plot is more involved.

DEY TOOK AWAY A COSTUME! I MISSED SOME SIDEBOOB! HOW COULD YOU EVEN?????

Horny teens were enraged because of censored unlockable costumes.

the censorship didnt bother me i could care less
its the bullshit digital only crap and the fact nintendo straight up ignored pleas for a physical relase is what pissed me off

reggie bill and all them faggots at noa can eat shit for that

>fact nintendo straight up ignored pleas for a physical relase
Where?
Europoor here and I got limited edition box without any trouble.

Why is Yuuri so erotic?

*couldn't care less

Will we get a sequel?

>the fact nintendo straight up ignored pleas for a physical relase
Listening vocal minority is always wrong
Capcom learned the hard way by releasing dragon's dogma on the west, instead of doing market research
At least nintendo didn't lost any money

This is the real valid complaint. The fact that it was digital-only in the US for a game that weighs 19+ GB on a system with around 25 GB of internal memory is retarded and almost certainly forces one to fork over even more money on an external HDD. Good thing I live in Europe.

NOE did a limited run of physical copies for the few people who wanted the game and they easily sold out. NOA could've done the same but didn't, they're just assholes. Not to mention that Zero 2 Wii was entirely ignored by NOA while it got released in Europe.

Because no one wanted this game in the NA region?

It wasn't the game they hated, it was NoA censoring it for no reason and making it digital only on a console that has fuck all room for digital downloads that made people pissed.

Sup, anons.

how can you physical fags tolerate shit load times for a pretty plastic box? If you are gonna sell it, then the game is pretty shitty in the first place.

censorship is the only logical reason not to buy this game.

Favorite ghost ever.

I didn't notice the game's load times being particularly long. Moreover, story text is displayed during loading screens so you have something to do while you wait.

It's still censored.

Censorship will bother you when it effects the strory and ruins the atmosphere.

Censored, not scary and just boring.
Controls were shit, items everywhere, annoying hand mechanic is back, backtracking, etc.

They didnt, your taste is shit. 5 is the worst outside of maybe 4 because I never played it. 1 is great, unlike 5 it's actually spooky, you know because it's a horror game.
King of the plebs, holy shit. Kys.
5 was shit, it wasnt even scary, not once.

Ito's Brianna Wu is way more awesome, too bad she is not a ghost

>effects story
story never changed

>ruins the aftmosphere
it's a flashback

>kys
ah, never mind. You're not old enough to be here anyway. Enjoy your (you)s. last you're getting

The censorship was pointless and unnecessary.

I do have to say one thing, though: This is the sexiest Fatal Frame ever. The other games were more scary - Here, the heroines were ridiculously attractive. Even the ghosts were! I can't be terrified when even the undead version of the boss looks pretty good in the gothy way.

Also, Ayane having a cameo in the side-story sort of shits all over the concept of suspense.

And what, did that girl have a daughter with her ghost-brother? What the fuck was up with that? How did she stay so young and hot over the years, too?

they were pretty vocal they wanted it it was NA that pleaded the game be localized in the first place
the way they localized it wasent wat they expected so they felt insulted and made operation groups the same way that operation rainfall was they wanted to try to do the same thing rainfall did with releasing those games but over the weeks and months nintendo of america didnt listen to them constantly ignored them over yokai watch promotions that eventually they gave up
now their glaring at nintendos twitter sometimes still bitter

How the fuck doe Hyrule Warriors, Bayonetta and even Devils's Third not get censored, but Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, #FE and Fatal Frame get censored.

Is the localizer that butthurt about pearl harbor?

>If you are gonna sell it, then the game is pretty shitty in the first place.
Yes, but it's also valuable.
amazon.co.uk/Project-Zero-Maiden-Limited-Nintendo/dp/B015BDF2JO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474988901&sr=8-1&keywords=fatal frame 5

I could make a profit selling it now, but 10 years down the line or when it becomes "retro" is the best.

Yuri > Rui > Shiragiku > Haruka > Miu > Tsumugi > Fuyuhi > Ose

Ayane doesn't count.

It's mainly Sony mememeasters salty about not having Fatal Frame anymore, and whiny censorkids.

1's my favorite but it's tied with 2 for me. 2 had excellent pacing but the worst combat in the series while 5 is the polar opposite - relatively poor pacing (though not quite as bad as 3's IMO) but dat gamepad combat, yo. It's everything I wanted in a Fatal Frame.

1 > 2 = 5 > 4 > 3 > SC

She appears in the background of earlier levels once you see her once

>2 remake
>Good
triggered

One of the best ghosts in the series. Every appearance she had was brilliant.

>spoiler
Yes, Miku was impregnated by the ghost of her brother. She stopped aging due to becoming a pillar and being placed inside a cursed casket. Taking ghostly D and giving birth to a child of the dead sapped her life force so she doesn't have long to live after being rescued.

>story never changed
Oh hazukashi, I'm being photographed in my casual clothing.
>it's a flashback
This isnt an argument.
>Underage
Well I suppose you cant go beyond insults when you cant argue aside from saying "it's a flashback, it totally doesnt matter if the scene is now nonsensical".

Man outside of the admittedly good story, I couldn't imagine placing 1/2 anywhere near the top. They're borderline unplayable by modern standards.

Bayo was done by Platinum, they didnt let Nintendo touch it.

Do they still want $50 for it?

No, its because NoA hates releasing anything that isn't their normal nintendo/kids games. It took years of begging for NA to get Xenoblades and even that was gamestop only limited release.

Source?

Considering lifetime sales of the series probably hasn't even hit 1 million, I think this is a bizarre instance of sales somehow not mattering for a franchise. Seriously, I don't know how we got to 5 games when 2 is the only one that is known to be some sort of vaguely popular. I really want to say this series is a labor of love at this point.

Think im gonna hack my WiiU today, has anyone put out an uncensored ISO of this?

>They're borderline unplayable by modern standards.
Not enough handholding got it.

Wrong

>Platinum Games today shared some insight into the creative process behind Bayonetta’s Nintendo-themed costumes in time for its North American launch. Surprisingly, it was Nintendo who suggested that Bayonetta’s Link costume, based on the hero from the popular Legend of Zelda series, should show more flesh, according to Siliconera. It’s an interesting move for the traditionally conservative Japanese gaming giant, which works hard to keep up its image.

venturebeat.com/2014/10/24/bayonetta-2-link-costume/

Stop baiting.

I got the impression that both Iwata and Miyamoto love (loved, in Iwata's case) it. Miyamoto even went to that Tecmo event when they showed off live gameplay of 5 for the first time and said he finds horror games fun because they're all about player immersion.

Weren't those costumes removed for Cuckistan?

I think it's nintendo giving priority to genre variety over sales.

They are clunky as fuck tho lads

Nobody's ever uncensored this.

>by modern standards
>classic survival horror

Not seeing any relevance here. Modern standards and survival horror don't mix. 1's my favorite because the Himuro Mansion is easily the best setting and it's the most challenging entry in the series. Seriously, old monks will fuck you up. Also, I think it has the best broken neck ghosts. If there's anything wrong with 1, it's that it's a hair short and some of the puzzles have a dubious translation but those cons are handily outweighed by the pros IMO.

I think 2 had the balance in the series
I remember not liking 4 that much I should replay that game one day

The devs mentioned something about ideas for a new one around the time of 5s release, but since it took 3 years before we even knew of the existence of 5, I doubt we'll hear soon

Clunky controls do not make a game unplayable as long as the gameplay itself is designed around said controls. The tank controls in 2, for instance (both the PS2 and the Wii version) are all you need to explore and fight, ghosts or areas are never designed so that you can be blindsided/have trouble getting around or reacting due to lacking controls.

5 has EASILY the best gameplay while 2 has the best story. 3 shit the bed with the multi protagonist thing so fucking hard.

Would love the originals remade using 5s system because goddamn they made the game so fun, it just needs to be a bit scarier

Fucking real life? This was only like 5 or so years ago where were you?

3 > 2 > 1 > 4

haven't played 5 yet

No, the source about your rampant speculation on NoA business plans. Source it.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Rainfall

...

2 is all-around good but the distance-based combat, while suitable for the mobs of enemies you fight in the game, isn't anywhere near as compelling in practice as charge-based. On top of that, all FF games have this problem to one extent or another but I feel 2 gets hit harder with the "overabundance of items" hammer than any other game. At least 5 had the sense to sequence out stages and start the player with a set item count so you couldn't stockpile like you could in previous games. 2 in particular handed out healing items like candy in Willy Wonka's factory.

Bayonetta 2
Devils Third
Wonderful 101
MadWorld
Manhunt 2

Etc

Rainfall games are the exception, not the rule. You guys got tonnes of games, just not a few JRPGs at the end of the consoles life.

Fuck NoA and Fuck Reggie

Your statement is stupid as fuck. Just because you didnt get a few games you can't ignore all the shit you DID get just because you didn't get Project Zero and Xenoblade.

tell me how do you pirate

What is it that made 5 not scary, in your opinion? I played both 2 Wii and 5 on their respective launches and 2 was much much scarier on a first playthrough, chapter 6 in particular with the dolls is scary even on further playthroughs. 5 on the other hand only had very few moments that scared me (shout-out to the Tall Woman in the second surveillance camera chapter), but I can't quite put my finger on why. It's not a matter of there being more items in 5, I never felt 2 was scary due to being particularly tense in terms of survival, you still had more than enough resources to fight back and come out on top comfortably enough. I'd say Sae and the Kusabi were a lot scarier than any main ghost in 5 (Shiragiku in particular being so moe that even the producers said she wasn't scary), but the regular ones also felt more unsettling.

Google.

I wanted this game so bad, but then they went and made it digital-only.

What a fucking slap in the face that was. It came out in October, just in time for Halloween, was a scary game where the gimmick makes perfect sense with the controller, this shit seriously marketed itself. There was no reason at all to doubt it like that.

And then they gave a physical release to the likes of Devil's Third and NES Remix.

Fuck, I'm mad. And to make it even worse, it has never gone on sale and likely never will. Absolutely fuck anybody who expects me to pay 50 dollars for digital air.

5, as far as I'm concerned, was all about constantly keeping you tense as opposed to outright scaring you. Which is fine, but in a horror game I expect a few more moments that outright scare me. At a certain point the tension has to give way in games like this.

>Finally pirated
Why do piratefags always have to announce that they're faggots?

5 brings back house sections a la 3 but for the most part they aren't as memorable. There are some REALLY good moments, though. Navigating the game proper isn't like navigating any of the game's previous mansions since the forest is so prominent. It's more like a set of mini dungeons across a larger area.

It triggers people like you apparently.

Just ignore it or report it if its shitposting. Make Cred Forums great again.

Not him, but ghosts handled poorly in 5, they werent a threat, and werent even creepy, add in large open forests to run and re aim.

>is great, unlike 5 it's actually spooky,
This how you spot person who never actually played games he talks about
Normal people fucking laugh when poorly made ghost head rolls in the air, not shit their pants
So now after we know that your opinion is worthless, there no need to listen you anymore

I play FF games for the atmosphere but 5 is the first time I actively looked forward to combat because it was so damn fun. I can see it being the issue of the game's too fun to be scary but I wasn't particularly let down in any real respect. Certain aspects of the game like fighting in waist-deep water or wandering off the beaten path (something I think 5 allows more of than previous games) still elicited some genuine tension in me. Outright scares were minimal but let's be honest - Fatal Frame games are a bit formulaic. Once you figure out how they work, they become a lot less scary. Still love them to death, though.

>was a scary game
It wasnt.

Yeah, when I think about combat in each game, you generally had a ton more room to move in 5. I also get the impression that they shuffle around more before attacking to give you a chance of rotating the camera and getting all the spirit fragments in the shot.

5>wii2>2>4>>>>>>>garbage>3>1
Can we all agree with it?

what some shit controls? Go play Rule of Roses and report back to me.

Nope, also the original 2 was leagues better than the remake

Have you played them?
A wandering monk in 1 is far more terrifying than anything in 5.

V is a course in setting up an atmosphere. It does it extremely well. The subtle changes when you revisit areas later (Tall Woman looking at you off in the distance, for example, or suddenly a new ghost in a room you weren't expecting) was fantastic when it happened. Problem, for me at least, was the pay offs for this constant unsettling atmosphere and tension were too far and few between. Like, there may be only one instance in each chapter where the tension gives way to terror or horror, and I just didnt find that enough.

>Project Zero and Xenoblade

Both of these games are the reason why we have Xenoblade X and Fatal Frame.

Xenoblade X is the reason why Breath of the Wild is as good as it is now.

So, did you buy it since you liked it so much?

I generally have a policy of never spending more than $20 for a digital title but I grudgingly broke that policy for Fatal Frame 5 because goddammit, this is one franchise I want to support. I hate how Nintendo treated it but a franchise I love doesn't deserve to suffer because of that.

My sides
Good joke

Yes, pretty much the given tiers. 3 arguably lower than 1, definitely overall the most cumbersome of the games.

Buying just teaches them it's ok.

>1 worst

Can't say I do.

I loved 5, but he isn't lying.

...okay? How is that relevant to what I was saying lad

>tfw the shitty handling of 5 in NA is still better than the handling of 4 and 2 Wii
Who knows, maybe 6 on the NX will get a limited physical release, and then maybe 7 will even not be censored.

It's a lesser of two evils situation, because I'd rather see FF get localized at all than not get it in any format.

I was responding to the user who wanted the source. That's perfectly relevant.

>1 worst
it is
>characters are shit
>ghosts aren't threatening(at least 3 has last boss with cool instant death attacks)
>gameplay is shit
>story is shit
>not scary
Obviously even developers didn't expected it to sell well, this is why it ended with protag losing her super ghost seeing powers

>limited physical release

Still don't know why Nintendo didn't do this when smaller publishers like NISA can set aside resources for limited physical releases of Vita games. Doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to do. Hell, just sell it from your website if you don't want to send them out to retail.

Fuck no.

5 was, without a doubt, the worst. Worst characters, worst story, worst environments, full of stupid fanservice cancer, ridiculously easy and the default ending is a happy ending, something that never happens in FF games. It's a good game but it's still easily the worst FF game.

Wii 2 is worse than the original release because it has terrible snooty british dubbing and dumbed down gameplay.

How the fuck can you declare 3 and 1 garbage but not 2 when they all have more or less the exact same gameplay? You're an idiot.

This was my first Project Zero and I enjoyed the game a lot. The atmosphere was great and I would love to play through some more of the series. So the Wii remake would be a good one to go for?

Yes, absolutely.

>characters are shit

I don't really play FF for the characters so much as the tragedies they entail, and the whole rope business in 1 was plenty suitable.

>ghosts aren't threatening

Man, 1 is the most threatening game in the series. All of the other ones are easier than it.

>gameplay is shit

Gameplay isn't particularly different until 4, and even then 2 has a worse combat system and 3 saddles you with Kei.

>story is shit

The kind of story told doesn't really change from game to game. Horribly tragedy happens which unleases a horrible, unappeased evil until you lay it to rest once more. That's Fatal Frame's MO, it just does it a little differently each game. If 1's is shit then they're basically all shit unless you put a hell of a lot of stock in 2's sister dynamic.

>not scary

Himuro Mansion's atmosphere is so thick you can cut it with a knife. Later games look much more clean and presentable in comparison. I adored how dingy 1 looked, and I think it gave the game a sense of tension that other games never touched upon since.

Just get the first 3 and ps2 > wii remake.

>Wii 2 is worse than the original release because it has terrible snooty british dubbing and dumbed down gameplay.
Nope, 2 wii is better than original because improved gameplay and features from the 4(like ghost hand) are made right
New endings were worth it
Not sure, but I think they fixed problem with camera charges that was worst thing about original 2 too
>How the fuck can you declare 3 and 1 garbage but not 2 when they all have more or less the exact same gameplay?
Because unlike 1 and 3, 2 story and characters aren't shit
>5 was, without a doubt, the worst. Worst characters, worst story, worst environments, full of stupid fanservice cancer, ridiculously easy
that would be 3
>nd the default ending is a happy ending
There no default ending in the 5
>You're an idiot.
No you

yes, don't touch any of the ps games because they are worst versions
If you want to play first 2 games, play xbox versions or wii remake
There no reason to touch third game at all

>Nope, 2 wii is better than original because improved gameplay
The changes they made was to make combat far easier and tell you exactly where to find key items and how to progress, you casual faggot.

>Because unlike 1 and 3, 2 story and characters aren't shit
That's a matter of taste and anyone who thinks 5 has the best characters has objectively shit taste.

>that would be 3
3 is fine, I'd put it on par with 4.

>There no default ending in the 5
Unless you play the game like a complete and utter retard you will get all the happy endings on your first play through, they aren't even locked behind the hard difficulty. This is completely wrong for the franchise.

>No you
No you

Third game somewhat ties the characters from 1 and 2 together. Though there is no direct story relevance (yet?), Hisoka in 5 is also directly related to Rei. But yes, I'll agree that it's the weakest game in the series.

Thanks for the advice!

>The changes they made was to make combat far easier
Impossible, combat in the first 3 games already was easy as fuck
Maybe ps2 was your first game console and you didn't knew how to play games?
>That's a matter of taste and anyone who thinks 5 has the best characters has objectively shit taste.
We talked why 2 is better than garbage like 1 and 3
>3 is fine, I'd put it on par with 4.
No, it's not fine. Game was terrible in every aspect, just a little better than first one
The only good things I can remember about it, it's final boss fight and Kei begging in his sleep for nieces to not leave him
>Unless you play the game like a complete and utter retard you will get all the happy endings on your first play through
Only Yuri one
For Miu it's very easy to miss her happy ending and for guy it's actually more luck and guess work

Not him but 2 is better than 1 in the same way SH2 is better than SH1 - it's got a more nuanced story but the game itself is way less terrifying. 1 did more to actually threaten the player, while 2 mostly implied creepy shit without actually doing a whole lot.

>hurrr 2 is the best

god im so fucking sick of this shit

its a great game but god damn why does everyone have to go along with the fucking meme to fit the fuck in?

its like burnout 3 and countless other examples.

there are other good games (actually better) in the series but its always the same fucking copypasted shit "which did you like? i liked 2 the most"
its like youre fucking robots.

3 is the better game but i bet all the 2 fags never played 1, 3, or 4

>Impossible, combat in the first 3 games already was easy as fuck
And yet they somehow managed to make the games easier. They are completely devoid of any challenge now, they may as well just be walking simulators.

>We talked why 2 is better than garbage like 1 and 3
I'm not reading the thread, I'm sure it just comes down to "It's better because they are lolis and it has a spooky village and the most sad endings" because that's all the evidence anyone ever puts forward to support the claim 2 is the best.

>No, it's not fine.
No, it's fine.

>Only Yuri one
>For Miu it's very easy to miss her happy ending and for guy it's actually more luck and guess work
Are you shitting me? Miu's was the easiest, just do what you always do for the entire game and you get it. And the guy's was just luck and guess work? For someone who thinks the story and the characters are the most important part you don't seem to pay much attention to them.

After everything that happened in the last games the heavy implications of incest end for Miku seems peculiar.

>People unironically defending 1 and 3
Oh wow, fatal frame threads are trully finished

>3 is the better game

You were doing good until this. 3 drags like a motherfucker between its house sections and going on like 4 or 5 chapters too long, not to mention Kei sections are a bore. Not that I don't like the Manor of Sleep, Rei, or getting to see Miku again but it came with some caveats.

No, you're just getting called out for having pleb-tier opinions. Every Fatal Frame is good, not liking 1 and 3 is poor form and I'm someone who calls 3 the worst mainline entry. Still a worthwhile game overall.

HARUKA IS SHIT! SHIT!!!

We all know you first heard of Fatal Frame with 5, kid.

Whether 1 or 2 is the best has always been a contentious issue in FF threads on Cred Forums, 1 has never been universally shat on. 3, while often considered weaker than 1 and 2, has never been considered shit.

This is my first post you sperg.

I since scrolled up a little and have seen your autism.

3 is far and away better than 2.

>drags
No more than the others. They all drag to be honest. All fucking video games drag so they can hit a 10 hour mark lest people flip the fuck out over their money.

Kei sections are fine and short. They experimented with being noncombatant/evasion and for the little you play as him it worked.

The house sections are specifically why the game is great. Its very atmospheric and you experienc the house degrade over time and get spookier and spookier.

not like 2 where youre just wandering around rotten houses and graveyards getting jumpscared the whole fucking game

You two are morons as well. 3 is far better than 1 and 2.

If there's a bad entry its 4. There's a reason they didn't localize it.

Id pirate it, but I straight up did not buy it / play it because of the censorship. First reply is correct, no matter what his stance on the topic actually is.

>Whether 1 or 2 is the best has always been a contentious issue in FF threads on Cred Forums,
Is it some alternative world?
Everyone agreed that first game was indie tier uninspired garbage. Everything changed with 5 prerelease screenshots and clowns like you coming into threads and claiming how antisjw game is
Now we need to deal with shitposters like you who praise 1 and 3 because they want replies

I actually do personally consider 3 to be better than 2 though not 1.

1 is classic to me, I can appreciate that even if it's not technically impressive. 3 really nails the atmosphere, it's so fucking somber. That and the slight improvements to 2's refinement of the gameplay elevates it above 2 for me.

>All fucking video games drag so they can hit a 10 hour mark lest people flip the fuck out over their money.

FF1 and 2 are less than 10 hours, easy. 3 took me like 16 hours to beat and it felt like it was never gonna end once the miasma shit kicked in. It's the only FF I've played to date where I wish it was over much sooner than it actually was, and it's probably why I haven't replayed it as opposed to 1, 2, and even 5. 4 I merely borrowed but I'd have replayed that if I owned it. I sometimes think about revisiting 3 but then I remember how done I was with its entire last quarter and I just can't bring myself to do it.

>digital release only
>15 gb on a console with a fucking HD of 32GB

an absolute fucking disaster

The fuck are you going on about?

I sure hope you are only pretending to be retarded.

>digital release only
Is this USian thing?

Yes, NoA and their unstoppable stupidity.

Europeans got a marvelous collection edition, few units, but they all sold out in a few days.

US got fucked hard with 5's localization. Censorship aside, it had no physical release whatsoever (and I would've paid anything they asked for that sweet-ass LE that Europe got but lol region lock). The ONE good thing they did was that the first couple chapters are F2P so you can try before you buy. Besides that, you know the rest.

And this is the state of FF threads post 5

>pirated
The U is broken already?

Actually, active discussion on 5 was pretty pleasant when the game was new and the censorship brigade moved on to XCX. This particular thread is just dodgy.

>NoA and their unstoppable stupidity

To be fair, nobody buys Fatal Frame games. We are lucky it was localized at all.

Shit, we are lucky the franchise still exists even in Japan.

It's telling that 5 had one of the better opening in the franchise since it was paired with a movie and manga. I still don't know if it ever broke 100k. Probably has, but I can't say for sure.

>Europeans got a marvelous collection edition, few units, but they all sold out in a few days.
Guess I got lucky. After finishing XCX I just walked into a game shop and saw FF5 collector's edition sitting there for 18 Euro.

>for 18 Euro
I'm calling bullshit

I'll try to dig out the receipt and post a photo.
Couldn't believe it either at first, there was a steelbook and gorgeous arbook inside besides the normal game case.

youtube.com/watch?v=SJs4snR8-C8

how can others games in the series even comptere

It's a niche title yes, but it's the kind of stuff vital to attract people and sell consoles / games, the big issue of nintendo has been, since the SNES, shoddy 3rd party support, so having this kind of game they should try to make the most of them.

And since they decided to bring it in, they should have done their best to make it big time, hell, it's one of the few games that actually uses the wii-u control for something else than inventory management, fuck it all, it's a perfect combination pretty much.

They could AT LEAST do a 1:1 copy of the european edition, or like they did with xenoblade on wii (game that took 2 fucking years and everyone already played when it was released...again, NoA)

lucky motherfucker

This better be fake. If your life had a face, I'd punch it in the balls.

That's... not the gif I was posting but I guess it still fits.

Nintendo an censor.

On the game itself, I was not a big fan of the chapter structure, how you keep backtracking and such.
Also, why can't they program a fucking walking mechanic right? FF1-3 used tank controls with fixed cameras. Why did they change that? Walking in this game is atrocious.

>paired with a movie

That movie is awful and it's not even a FF movie, it's just some random horror movie they slapped the FF name to.

kinda want to try out this series. I wanted my older brother to pick up 5 for his Wii U (so I could eventually borrow the system and play it ho ho), but I don't think he was in to it.

If I just have a PS2 are the first two games (probably would start with 1) worth it? Halloween season is starting up so I am starting to go through the horror library and play games that have been off my radar for too long (Silent Hill, etc.).

I didn't think it was awful but I agree that it was hardly fit to be called a Fatal Frame movie. Still, it was a generic, but ultimately competent slow paced J-horror until it jumped the shark at the end with its halfassed "hey guys, remember FF2?" revelations.

Yes, though if you have an Xbox lying around then 1 and 2 have superior versions there. 1 is admittedly pretty dated in some respects but I think it's the best outright horror game in the series.

question is the wii hacked to the point i can play physical imports yet?

i bought my eu copy before nintendo put the banhammer on international buyers buying this

All the FF games are good, just to different degrees, but they are not for everyone. They are niche, even by survival horror standards, and you won't be able to breeze through combat like you would a Silent Hill or Resident Evil game.
